Foxglove Manor

'Sup, currently writing a larger post.

Checking in. Thanks for picking me, GM. :)

Reporting for duty! Thanks for the selection :)

Foxglove Manor

Ok everyone, few things before we can start.

- Sable and Ansgar need their Aliases.
- In the "class/levels" section of the Alias profile, i would like for everyone to put hp, AC, saves and whatever stats you find relevant in order to make it easier in the future. Here is an example (she is from 5e, though).
- We'll be using Roll20 for maps when needed, i believe we can set that up as we go.
- We have two rangers in the party, i believe they're already quite different and will grow in different directions but if you two want to change things you can do so.

Besides that, the game starts with the Swallowtail Festival, the Festival is uneventful up ultill the first encounter and the adventure has a calm period after the first encounters, i leave it up to you guys if you want to start at the action or play through the Festival.

Male Human HP 28/32 | AC 20, T 12, FF 17 | Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +4 | Init +2 | Perception +1 Destructive Smite (3/4) Channel (2/3, 2d6)

Thanks for choosing me. I was somewhat worried at the lack of comments on Ansgar.

Alias is done, just getting the stat line up now.

Personally, I am happy starting where ever. If we do end up skipping the RP of the festival, could you give a brief description of it though?

Female Plumekith Aasimar (Scion of Humanity) Ranger (Ilsurian Archer, Infiltrator) 1 | HP 12/12 | AC:18 T:13 FF:15 CMD:16 | F:4 R:5 W:3 | Resist Acid 7, Cold 7, Electric 7 | Initiative +3 | Sense Motive +10 | Perception +7 | Darkvision 60ft.

Scout Ryndel, at your service! A pleasure to make your acquaintance folks, and thanks for the opportunity Wilken. Gonna be an awesome time!

Going forwards, crunch-wise, what can I say? Kalais is quite literally an Ilsurian Archer, and cares not for your silly Favoured Terrains! (Totally reminds me that I need to pick up Pathfinder Worldscape as well. How does that Sword-Devil archetype even work?)

That aside, I'm quite up for however you want to get the ball rolling, and Ansgar here has it right for anything else I might've said to that effect. An overview would be sweet though; gives us all something to play off of, and a chance to visualise the festivities. Presumably before...whatever happens, happens, at least.

Foxglove Manor

If we choose to fast foward, i will of course provide a description of the Festival up untill that moment, as well give everyone a chance to say what they've been up to during the day.

Male Goblin UBarbarian (Feral Gnasher) 5 / URogue 3 | HP 76/76 | AC 23 TO 19 FF 16 | F +9 R +13 W +7 | CMD 23 | Init +7 | Perc +14 DV

Squeeze is updated. I added the headers, but I also noticed I forgot to purchase a weapon... So I added a couple stakes on his sheet. :) Yes, I'm poor, leave me alone! All my money went on MW thieves tools, lol.

I'm okay with either/or. I like roleplaying, but I already did the Swallowtail Festival piece before (the further I ever got in RotRL). Anyway - if I could ask, maybe we should make as such that one of the other characters already knew Squeeze from before? Maybe Squeeze served as a guide before, or something like that. I'm just saying it because, otherwise - well, my little green life might be extra-short :)

Spells: 1/3 1st|Female Half-Elf (Varisian) Oracle of Life 1|HP: 9/9|AC: 16/11/15|Saves: +1 Fort, +1 Ref, +2 Will (+2 vs. Enchantment; +1 vs. Death/to Stabilize)|Init: +1|Perc: +6|Channels: 5/5

I'm quite fine with RPing the Swallowtail Festival out. :)

Female Human Ranger (Sword-Devil) 1 | AC 13, touch 13, flatfooted 10, CMD 15 | hp 12/12 | Fort +3, Ref +5, Will -1

Sable, reporting in! (Also open to suggestions for alternate names for this alias.)

Erik Mona, who wrote the archetype, gives an overview here, but essentially sword-devil trades a lot of features, including favored enemies, favored terrains, and spells. In exchange, I get a death vow (pick an enemy x/day, get attack and damage bonuses equal to 1/2 my ranger level against them), and if I can manage to survive until 4th level, I get less squishy and can add my Cha modifier to my AC, along with a few other assorted goodies. Essentially my plan for Sable is to make her into a switch hitter, functioning either at range or as a skirmisher (probably primarily at range until I get the AC boost at 4th, but even then, she's no tank).

I have no strong preference regarding the Swallowtail Festival.

Heh. Short jokes.

Sable has spent a not insignificant amount of time in Kaer Maga, City of Tolerating Weird S&*&, where goblins are... well, pests to be tolerated, so it's possible they were both hired by a merchant caravan traveling to Sandpoint for the Festival, Sable as muscle, Squee as a guide?

I won't say she'd exactly trust Squee, but she won't be turning him into an arrow pincushion unless he does something that she'd turn a human into an arrow pincushion for.

Foxglove Manor

Red Sonja...Black Sable? xD

I believe we can RP trough the Festival, then, i can use this to introduce the town and a few key NPCs and the PCs can get to know eachother a little before things get bloody. If shouldn't take very long, i think.

I'll write the first post tomorrow first thing in the morning, very excited to begin this adventure :)

Male Human HP 28/32 | AC 20, T 12, FF 17 | Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +4 | Init +2 | Perception +1 Destructive Smite (3/4) Channel (2/3, 2d6)

GM Wilken - Wiuld you be okay with me spending a bit more starting hold on a short sword?

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

Checking in…

Thanks for accepting me, GM Wilken!

This should be fun.

Female Plumekith Aasimar (Scion of Humanity) Ranger (Ilsurian Archer, Infiltrator) 1 | HP 12/12 | AC:18 T:13 FF:15 CMD:16 | F:4 R:5 W:3 | Resist Acid 7, Cold 7, Electric 7 | Initiative +3 | Sense Motive +10 | Perception +7 | Darkvision 60ft.

Ah, fascinating! Very much a different beast from the average ranger altogether then. Quite amusing that neither of us are doting on the spellcasting side of the class, but in such different taste. Definitely looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

I also admit to chuckling a little at Squeeze's presence among us, if only because I know Kalais may be a touch liable to 'rooty-tooty-point-and-shooty' in the case of Varisia's many-toothed goblinoid pests. I'm sure tall, dark, and scantily-clad over here would serve as a fine deterrent though!

Female Human Ranger (Sword-Devil) 1 | AC 13, touch 13, flatfooted 10, CMD 15 | hp 12/12 | Fort +3, Ref +5, Will -1

Until 4th level, Sable could presumably wear armor or a buckler (Sword-Devil, oddly, doesn't remove those proficiencies), but I figured it would make more sense if this was how her mentor trained her to fight and she didn't suddenly start stripping down at 4th level. Besides, Ostog the Unslain managed to make it from level 1 to level 17/mythic 2 without armor...?

GM, how are you feeling about the whole Scathach thing? Should I keep it or nix it?

Female Plumekith Aasimar (Scion of Humanity) Ranger (Ilsurian Archer, Infiltrator) 1 | HP 12/12 | AC:18 T:13 FF:15 CMD:16 | F:4 R:5 W:3 | Resist Acid 7, Cold 7, Electric 7 | Initiative +3 | Sense Motive +10 | Perception +7 | Darkvision 60ft.

From a mechanical and balance perspective, I assume the AC carry over is rooted so deeply to prevent Oracle-Dip-Syndrome...so that proficiency is likely tied to the off-chance someone would want to reinforce their likelihood of survival during the arduous 1-3 bridge.

Thematically? Pfft, nah! Have Sable earn that glorious Charisma to AC the hard way!

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

Fewer spells than normal sorcerers will be a bit of a bother for a little while for me.

But I can compensate with an extra spell (lower than max) per level as a bit of compensation.

But, ultimately, should be good at blasting the opposition to ashes.
Barring fire resistance, of course.

Foxglove Manor

@Ansgar: Sure.

@Sable: I think its fine if you keep it, i don't have any big plans for it but we can figure something out as we go.

I had some unexpected work jump into my schedulle but i'll have the first post soon.

Male Human HP 28/32 | AC 20, T 12, FF 17 | Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +4 | Init +2 | Perception +1 Destructive Smite (3/4) Channel (2/3, 2d6)

Thanks.

Also, if people want, I can make a party loot spreadsheet on google docs to track what loot was found, which post it was found it, who took it or if it is in the 'party loot' pile, what we get everything appraised at and what our running tally of gold is.

I'm doing it in another game and it works pretty well. It depends a bit on if we need to track who has what item exactly or not though. In my other game the GM lets us have a nebulous loot cloud with no specific person having the items. Not sure how GM Wilken wants stuff though.

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

Sounds good. Google Sheets works well for that sort of thing.

Female Plumekith Aasimar (Scion of Humanity) Ranger (Ilsurian Archer, Infiltrator) 1 | HP 12/12 | AC:18 T:13 FF:15 CMD:16 | F:4 R:5 W:3 | Resist Acid 7, Cold 7, Electric 7 | Initiative +3 | Sense Motive +10 | Perception +7 | Darkvision 60ft.

Aye. I have a fairly comprehensive sheet knocking around for such occasions, but I'll not step on any toes if y'all want to cover it. Would make a welcome change on my part. Doesn't bother me one way or another as to how Wilken would like us to keep tabs; I'm quite meticulous by nature, if Kalais's profile wasn't already indicative enough, haha...

Foxglove Manor

I'm now imagining Sable wearing armor for the first 3 levels and then doing this as she reaches 4th level xD

@Ansgar and Kalais: Either of you can track loot if you want to and that would be very helpful, i don't really feel like this game should be about tracking who has what piece of gold so you don't need to super specific about it unless you want to.

Just wrote the first post, sorry for the delay. You all start split into a few small groups but over a few posts i expect everyone to meet eachother. You don't need to stay togheter during the festival and can wander off and do your own things if you want, i'll unite the group again by the later parts of the festival.

Inside the groups it is up to you how much the characters know eachother (if at all). When the party starts split like this i usually ask the players to do a small introduction of their character and save the more detailed descriptions for when all party comes togheter for the first time, but its up to all of you how to do it.

Female Plumekith Aasimar (Scion of Humanity) Ranger (Ilsurian Archer, Infiltrator) 1 | HP 12/12 | AC:18 T:13 FF:15 CMD:16 | F:4 R:5 W:3 | Resist Acid 7, Cold 7, Electric 7 | Initiative +3 | Sense Motive +10 | Perception +7 | Darkvision 60ft.

RE: Loot Tracking - S'all good. We'll figure something out.

Meanwhile, rooty-tooty-point-and-shooty. Except not. Luckily both Kalais and I are both infinitely more tired than we are hostile! :P

Foxglove Manor

Sable, when possible, please put your statblock and fluff on your Alias' profile, makes life a lot easier for me :).

Also, i'm sending the roll20 to you all via PM.

Male Human HP 28/32 | AC 20, T 12, FF 17 | Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +4 | Init +2 | Perception +1 Destructive Smite (3/4) Channel (2/3, 2d6)

I just want to clarify, will we be using Roll20 for all the dice as well or just for the map and roll dice here on the forums? I haven't used Roll20 before really and just want to know whats up.

Foxglove Manor

We'll use it only for the maps. Everything else will happen here on the forums.

Aye aye, El Capitan!

Foxglove Manor

Still learning how to use this board properly but i'll have some maps and nice pictures uploaded for you guys soon enough.

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

Ooooo!
That "learning curve" stuff.
Lotsa fun! :o

Don't know how to administer Roll20, though.
I've only ever used it as a player, not a GM.

Male Human HP 28/32 | AC 20, T 12, FF 17 | Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +4 | Init +2 | Perception +1 Destructive Smite (3/4) Channel (2/3, 2d6)

I am looking forward to the images and maps. Thank you for going through the effort of using them

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

@ GM Wilken: those two maps show up just fine.
You can zoom into them fairly nicely too.

Female Plumekith Aasimar (Scion of Humanity) Ranger (Ilsurian Archer, Infiltrator) 1 | HP 12/12 | AC:18 T:13 FF:15 CMD:16 | F:4 R:5 W:3 | Resist Acid 7, Cold 7, Electric 7 | Initiative +3 | Sense Motive +10 | Perception +7 | Darkvision 60ft.

Aha! Glorious Maps! Excellent! Thanks Wilken, it's very much appreciated~

Regarding Roll20...I have a couple thousand hours on it, for whatever that's worth. The joys of being an Atlantic away from your tabletop group and so on.

Foxglove Manor

Added a link to the Roll20 game. Currently its just a white screen with tokens but when you have the time please check to see if you can see and move your characters.

Also i believe Squeeze is not on roll20 yet.

Female Plumekith Aasimar (Scion of Humanity) Ranger (Ilsurian Archer, Infiltrator) 1 | HP 12/12 | AC:18 T:13 FF:15 CMD:16 | F:4 R:5 W:3 | Resist Acid 7, Cold 7, Electric 7 | Initiative +3 | Sense Motive +10 | Perception +7 | Darkvision 60ft.

I've got sight, but can confirm no control at this time.

Foxglove Manor

Whoops my mistake, should be working now.

Sorry! I'll join Roll20 tonight with Squeeze.

Great stuff~ Many thanks.

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

So far so good.
I put health bar on (green, 10/10)
And another for fire rays (blue, 6/6)

Male Human HP 28/32 | AC 20, T 12, FF 17 | Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +4 | Init +2 | Perception +1 Destructive Smite (3/4) Channel (2/3, 2d6)

I have added HP as green and # of destructive smites as red

Roll20 is working just fine for me so far.

Foxglove Manor

Everyone if finally togheter (for now), this is usually the best moment for big detailed descriptions if anyone wants to :)

Male Goblin UBarbarian (Feral Gnasher) 5 / URogue 3 | HP 76/76 | AC 23 TO 19 FF 16 | F +9 R +13 W +7 | CMD 23 | Init +7 | Perc +14 DV

Just an update to all my tables: I'll be traveling this holiday weekend and absent for most of the time. I'll be back next week but my connectivity should be a little spotty at least on the first days. For my players: don't worry, I'll get back :) for the tables where I'm the player: I'll come back as well, but meanwhile feel free to bot me if needed to keep things going. Cheers and have a nice holiday weekend!

Female Plumekith Aasimar (Scion of Humanity) Ranger (Ilsurian Archer, Infiltrator) 1 | HP 12/12 | AC:18 T:13 FF:15 CMD:16 | F:4 R:5 W:3 | Resist Acid 7, Cold 7, Electric 7 | Initiative +3 | Sense Motive +10 | Perception +7 | Darkvision 60ft.

Ahhh, of course! Tis that time of year isn't it? Happy Holidays folks :)

Male Human HP 28/32 | AC 20, T 12, FF 17 | Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +4 | Init +2 | Perception +1 Destructive Smite (3/4) Channel (2/3, 2d6)

Just a heads up, my posting might be sporadic over the next 2-3 weeks as it is final project season at university. I should still be able to get a post in every 2-3 days though, but bot me as needed.

Foxglove Manor

Okay, good luck with your project and thanks for telling us in advance :)

Foxglove Manor

I don't know how i managed to mistype this, but Sandpoint has 1024 inhabitants, so i was supposed to say "even with a thousand citizens" instead of "with thousands", my bad =x

Female Plumekith Aasimar (Scion of Humanity) Ranger (Ilsurian Archer, Infiltrator) 1 | HP 12/12 | AC:18 T:13 FF:15 CMD:16 | F:4 R:5 W:3 | Resist Acid 7, Cold 7, Electric 7 | Initiative +3 | Sense Motive +10 | Perception +7 | Darkvision 60ft.

Oh I'm sure there's plenty of tourists. I mean maybe not several thousand, but still too many for Kalais! :P

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

Or, it seems like thousands.

Like one Newfoundlander (or probably quite a few of them) used to say:
Dere was tousands and tousands of `em.
Maybe even a hunnert!

Hard to type something like a Newfie accent! :D

Foxglove Manor

Squeeze i gave you control of your token in the roll20 map. Looks like we're ready for action.

I'll start going a little faster with my posts so we can reach the Adventure per se before christmas. If i ever go too fast you can tell me to slow down a bit.

I'd also appreciate constructive criticism since this is my first time GMing here at the Paizo Boards and also my first time GMing in english.

Male Half-Orc Sorcerer (inactive)

@ GM Wilken:
Everything seems to be fine so far.
