Cadell is stabilized
Valeros slays a bandit, and Alistair's sling breaks apart a skeleton.
The bandits on the stairs push down, chopping at Valeros
1d20 ⇒ 20; roll to confirm 1d20 ⇒ 1
does not confirm, damage is 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3 to Valeros
and the last skeleton closes on Victasys again, bony hands clawing at the half orc
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
and Victasys is not hit
Vic- if you initiated a judgement, I believe it stays active until the end of the current combat - so be sure to take that into account.

Keith S. |

(ok - Vic - what does the HP tag line of HP 6(-3NL)/10 mean?)
Waiting for Alistair too.

Keith S. |

@ Vic, that is fine - just did not understand the format! my bad!
Alistair drops a skeleton, and Vic smashes his into a million flinders!
Valeros drops another bandit, and the last bandit rushes down the stairs at him
1d20 ⇒ 18, hitting for 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3 damage
PCs may go, no new map, just one bandit on the stairs.

Keith S. |

The last bandit goes down.
No other activity can be heard in the house other than your panting.
What is next? Below is the current map of what areas you know about, and you have several wounded folk as well.
Ignore the folks on the map...you either killed them or they are you.

Keith S. |

Continue healing and whatnot - let me know if you are searching anything, popping open doors, etc.

Keith S. |

So are you done with all the healing you want to do? i.e., Alistair remains at 1 hp? And Cadell at 2?

Keith S. |

OK. Just asking.....
So you move on opening doors and looking about with two seriously wounded characters. Not I problem. After all, I can spell TPK
You don't hear anything at any of the doors. But it isn't a big complex - you assume that there is only 1 room behind most doors. I.E., you are in the main room of a smallish lodge and most of the rooms behind the doors probably only enter into this one; maybe a couple go to each other or outside.
Here is what you know of the area. MAP
Ignore the letters for you or for opponents.
So do you rest? Open more doors? Flee like cowards? Stand like stalwart champions? Make a nice dinner like a short order cook?

Keith S. |

It is up to you if you feel everyone has come running. But you are pretty sure that your battle would have been audible to all in the complex.
You move some furniture, bar some doors, and Valeros stands guard.
After a short amount of quiet time, he had hear some faint yells coming from below them. Perhaps ..help... every so often. And maybe an occasional curse word or string of curses.
The rest of the place is quiet.
Do you do anything in particular or continue to rest?
No one is ready to get spells back.
At this time, all are fatigued and Valeros is approaching exhausted
The group has been awake for 30 hours or so, and fought several combats in that time.

![]() |

If someone is stuck down there, I hope they don't mind being left there for another night... that being said you stronger one should stand guard. Cadell is still having some pain from his previous wounds but at least they are no longer bleeding.

Keith S. |

So someone has to make the call...guards or no guards? Sleep for how long (note that it takes 8 hours of complete rest to regain fatigue, and 1 hour to recover from exhausting).

Keith S. |

As it turns out, 8 hrs pass and all are rested. Spells are regained.
The cries for help pass after about an hour.
What now?

Keith S. |

See the MAP .
The only place you cannot go is the basement (where there is a locked door) and the small room on the second floor (H16) which also has a locked door.
There are many bits of gear, mostly in poor condition.
Searching for magic, you do find a potion and 4 scrolls.
Your gut feeling is that someone cleared out of the kitchen (H8) fast, maybe during the fight, or maybe sneakily just after the fight.
H14 is also a room with maps of the forest (before it became snow covered). You make a guess that someone was in here as well, and perhaps snuck out at some time.

Keith S. |

No one appears to be worried about making noise, which is the main question hidden in the background.
You can bash down the doors in some fashion or another.
Upstairs, you find a sick room - and the small room to the side holds an iron cage and it is inhabited by a small blue man. His wings are dull, and he begs the PCs to release him.
In the basement you find a woman who identifies herself as Lady Argentea Malassene, whom you set out to rescue. She is grateful, and looks for a fast escape, asking for a horse and cold weather gear.
She is concerned that a man named Rohkar does not appear to be among the dead, as he is the leader of the bandits. She demands you pursue him and kill him for her honor.
(when this series of conversations are over, you become second level - so think about that a bit. Feel free to level up your characters in preparation for the next step in the adventure).

Keith S. |

And the gear you found is:
a potion of lesser restoration
scrolls of endure elements, magic weapon, magic weapon, and unseen servant.

![]() |

Cadell will study the blue man for awhile, asking him questions and trying to figure out why he is in this cage. Maybe the Lady Malassene knows something about him?
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Hoping some of the others help in figuring out who this blue man might be.

Keith S. |

(I am assuming the cage with the little blue-ish fellow)
I am Vrixx, Vrixx I am. I am. I tell the truth. I am Vrixx. Bad man cages me. Man named Rohkar caged me in iron. I am Vrixx. Vrixx I am. Let me go, please let me go. Izoze will be missing Vrixx. I am Vrixx. Please let me go. I am Vrixx. Vrixx I am. Want to go into the snow.
His comments die off into a mumble, albeit a high pitched mumble.

Keith S. |

Vrixx looks up at the half orc. He blinks. Looks around a bit like he is waking up.
It is snowing because it is cold Vrixx doesn't say the word idiot but it kind of comes across.
And Izoze is one of the bosses. Not the big boss. But the boss here at this place. Even though the man thought so. The man who locked Vrixx in this cage. I am Vrixx. I am in a cage. I am not happy about that. But Izoze doesn't know. When she knows, she will get me out. If she doesn't forget to do that. Or if she is so happy in the snow she won't come inside to help me. But she will when it gets cold. And it is going to get cold. It will get very cold. Or my name isn't Vrixx. And I am Vrixx. Vrixx I am. I want to go into the snow. I am Vrixx. Friend of Izoze. Vrixx.....
