"Ya have the right of it lad, and beat me to the punch. I would hope we are in the company of people who understand property laws and not common scavengers." Sten flips the chain back around his waist, the dull clank of metal on metal emphasizes his words. Sorry lads, two paladins of community centric gods in party.

The longsword is masterwork.

Who gets it?

And what is next? It is late afternoon.

Alistair will use the sword if nobody else needs it.
What should we do next?

Check for tracks in the snow:

Cadell isn't the best at searching for clues, but does try to help the party out by casting detect magic.

While the others search, Ianto says a brief prayer to himself and buries the corpses as well as possible before moving on.

scan with detect evil as well

"Let me help you there my boy." Sten will aid Ianto as best he can. "We really need to be following their trail afore we lose it, the noble lady may well still be alive."

Shadow Lodge

"Aye, just enough to keep the wolves away. We can recover them on our return so they might be given a proper burial. Let's go."

male Human? pbp GM / 1 current map ; second floor

The ground is frozen and you have about 12 bodies or so to bury - so it will take awhile. It is fully dark by the time you are ready to move on.

The trail is easily seen and followed, even in the dark. The half moon reflects off the snow and everything has an eerie light combined with dark shadows from the bare tree limbs.

After about 30 minutes of walking you come to a bit of a clearing. It appears the snow has been heavily stepped upon in this area. Another clear path leads out of the opposite side of the clearing. Your impression is that the marauders took a break here before moving on.

To the left side of the clearing a large chest lies in the snow. It appears to be of the same make as the carriages and looks to be hastily discarded by the bandits. It is closed.

Speaking a string of ancient Elvish words, Cadell motions for everyone to stand back a bit and casts a spell.

Open on chest.

male Human? pbp GM / 1 current map ; second floor

The lid flips open with the sorcerers spell, and a large spiked log comes swinging down from above with a WHOOOOOSHHHH.

No one was hurt by this, but it would have definitely put the ouch on someone if they were standing in front of it.

The lid is open, the log trap is sprung.

Ianto watches for an ambush as the others look in the chest.

"Don't take to long friends, we still have a trail to follow." Sten waits impatiently for the others to finish checking the contents of the chest.

male Human? pbp GM / 1 current map ; second floor

I see two folks have volunteered others to look in the chest; no one has actually volunteered to look however....

Cadell blushes with semi-embarassement. Shew, that was a might close. Ianto, look inside the box sir, I am sure all of the danger has passed by this point.

male Human? pbp GM / 1 current map ; second floor

Alistair's keen eye spots a few clues. He pushes and lifts the chest a bit, and underneath is a stash of gear. It looks like the bandits put the armor and weapons stashed from the guards.

There are:
5 sets of leather armor
3 sets of studded leather armor
1 masterwork chain shirt
2 light wooden shields
7 longswords
2 spears
a masterwork dagger
3 light crossbows and 25 bolts.

male Human? pbp GM / 1 current map ; second floor

What's next?

Grand Lodge

Shaking the snow from his bald head Vic exclaims
"Unless we decide to return and retrieve this stash, take it all and lets move on."

Agreed, we don't have much time.

male Human? pbp GM / 1 current map ; second floor

You continue to trudge along the path. The temperature is dropping significantly; it is probably in the teens now. Snow is falling heavily and there is about 6 inches on the ground (this makes movement cost double normal when off the beaten path made by the bandits).

You are moving along a gully which is cutting through a tree covered ridge. The trail skirts a large snow drift to the left.

Everyone make some perception checks.

In a burst of snow, a creature launches itself from the snowdrift!

It is 7+ feet long, with a head full of teeth, two legs, and a twisting tail (which seems to be most of its body).

It launches itself at Taryn! As a note, I need some sort of stats posted for Taryn....when I click her name, there are no numbers. And it would be good if everyone posted at least armor class and hit points in their "title block"

bite 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 to hit
damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 for damage

and a free grapple of 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 for its combat maneuver check to wrap you up in its tail after you are bitten.

Taryn needs to make a roll with her CMD to see if she is grappled, then we roll for initiative.

It is white, furry, very snake-like but with two front legs and a mouthful of teeth.

The creature takes a moment to breathe an obnoxious green cloud into Taryn's face, then moves to engage Alistair.

Taryn needs to make a DC 12 fort save; she is dropped prone by the critter.

Alistair is in base to base contact.

The rest can move as needed, including access to Taryn for healing or flanking of the creature.

I forgot to post that the beast's ac is 15.

So Alistair and Ianto miss; Taryn can do one action as staggered (either move or standard).

Boulder, Cadell, Victasys also need to go!

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Sten brings his mighty dergar to bear... and promptly loses the chain weapon due to the slick ice and snow that has begun to build up on it.

"Release him fiend!"

I am assuming your sorcerer stands paralyzed with fear...due to no post.

The fuzzy worm thing attacks Alistair, clawing and snarling and snapping!

the bite 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 hits!
damage is 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

grab (grapple) of 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

It is your turn, and Alistair needs to make a CMD roll to see if he is grappled by the thing!

Sovereign Court

HP 7 (Current 2); AC 13, Touch 13; Init +3; Perception +2

The elf is stunned for a few moments trying to figure out what this vile worm like creature is. Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 1. Cadell steps a few feet back to be sure to be out of harms way and then cast a spell. Suddenly an ice-like dagger forms in his hand. He tries to look mighty and tough as he braces himself for a likely attack.
