roll 1d8+8

heroes feast:

You bring forth a great feast, including a magnificent table, chairs, service, and food and drink. The feast takes 1 hour to consume, and the beneficial effects do not set in until this hour is over. Every creature partaking of the feast is cured of all sickness and nausea, receives the benefits of both neutralize poison and remove disease, and gains 1d8 temporary hit points + 1 point per two caster levels (maximum +10) after imbibing the nectar-like beverage that is part of the feast. The ambrosial food grants each creature that partakes a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and Will saves and a +4 morale bonus on saving throws against poison and fear effects for 12 hours.

If the feast is interrupted for any reason, the spell is ruined and all effects of the spell are negated.

How high is the dragon in the air? With my fly speed I'm wondering if I could reach it with a charge.

As a heads up to all of my games: I am traveling from Friday-Monday and will likely be unable to post very much, please DMPC me as needed. My posting will return to normal on Tuesday.

Before I realized it had 280 ft of flight I had mentioned it's belly was 20 ft off the ground. I'll stay with that answer...remember I dislike retcon actions.

Please make sure you indicate the type of weapon your are using and if it has any special material or properties. That will make my life easier.

When the party gets back at the Slywink tavern:

Karnog: "ALE." hands trembling a bit.

Kalim: {speechless.}

"Whew t..th..that was close." Desmond stammers

Mayor Featherton walks in the bar: "Back so soon? Kalim you look ashen. Hey where's Duncan"

Nym points to the charred boot on the table. "Right zhere hez iz."

"MORE ALE!" the group shouts.

I can imagine a conversation between Duncan and Kalim each describing their version of the afterlife.

Light vs Void

Regarding the battle, I did not pull punches or soften tactics. I wanted to play the dragon as a cunning, destructive force who utilized his generations of knowledge, tactics, and hoard. Kalim, Duncan, and Karnog survived a full assault. Congrats.

After the bite, fall and missiles and still got up after that I was feeling pretty epic.

But I was also conscious of the fact Baldwin got a low roll on the falling damage. Otherwise you'd be ressurecting Duncan.

Nice to see Duncan could fill the roll of beatstick though. I was a little worried since we no longer have a Full BAB char.

Alot of fun though.

We might have to find a way to stalk and kill this thing on our terms. Might take a while, but if this keeps happening on our way to Rappan Athuk we'll have to break a stalemate some way. Our Merciful has fully brought out my rpg paranoia.

Who remembers the 3.5 Draconomicon?

Lovely lovely dragon breath feats like Lingering, Quickened, Maximized, and Enlarged Breath?

I played a couple of dragons similar to Baldwin, had a LOT of fun taking on highly powered PCs with them.

Ray of Clumsiness was my downfall, iirc.

Amazingly enough the only damage Desmond took was from the AoO he provoked from charging in. And he probably got another slice in with that AoO on his way out!

Would I ever be so devious as to polymorph a dragon? I am shocked, just simply shocked, that you would think I would do something that wickedly cruel.

I live in an urban setting there are plenty of folks walking the streets chatting to themselves. Not everyone's head is going to spin around like Sybil. But do be careful about acidic projectile vomitting.

The More I play a Warpriest, the More I feel the class is Designed to be a beatstick First and Foremost.
Never in any of the side by side with Grungsdi did Duncan outperform him numbers wise.

But he can get close within a round of buffing and can be way more versatile to certain threats.
Feels way more like a Paladin than a Cleric. (Front line beatstick)
Inqusitor feels more like a smart Battle cleric (2nd line striker)

Reckon Duncan and Daniel Arrisen (from the COT game) would have gotton along swimmingly.

Well done Baldwin, our BIGGEST party weakness right now is not having a Full HD BAB class that can wear a full attack without buffs (like Grungsdi or a Barbarian)

This dragon will fight on it's terms and It's best chance is to initiate first and kill one of us before we have ANY protections up....

Our Stone skins and Protection from fire are only good for 30mins.

Evil GM

The dragon didn't live nearly 600 years by being rash. He is much more calculating and patient at this age. Preferring to let everyone waste away spells and blessings. Probe and retreat, probe and retreat.

The axe that the death knight held?

Last I knew Karnog took possession and had it in the bag of holding.

I might be mistaken, though.

That sounds correct.

If I recall, Desmond tried to abscond with the axe for a new girlfriend and we had to persuade him and the new people that was not correct behavior.

I was NOT expecting Dispater.... Duncan was killed and resumed a Secondary role in the COT game in Cheliax.... That's Asmodeus turf and now Duncan is talking to his most loyal general...

I should have been a Bard...Duncan just committed suicide for narrative flair.

This might be a Deus Exmachina moment....

Male Human Ranger 1

I know this might bite the party in the rear, but I'm figuring Duncan is familiar with the Greed of Dragon's.

With its lair compromised, the Dwarf figures we can teleport there buff up, kick in the door and go to work.

At least we could count on the dragon to stay and fight instead of these hit and run tactics to bleed our resources.

I'm good with it. If Duncan is okay with the loss of Grimm forever, Karnog is not gonna argue with him.

Besides, we need to kick this flaming lizards butt anyways.

And I hope hes got a huge or gargantuan object or 2 in his lair so I can hit him with a boat or a wagon or something!
