With a decisive step, Hoga walks into the large room. The sound of his boots hitting the stone floor echoes throughout the room. After walking all the way to the first column, no traps get triggered nor any creatures spring out of hiding place for an ambush. It would seem that this room was and still is completely empty.

You open the next doors and find a temple. A blue mosaic dominates the floor of this chamber. The ceiling rises to several domes twenty-five feet above. A large marble statue of a robed man with hair braided in a loop and worn like a necklace looks down on the chamber serenely from the east.

Knowledge Religion DC15:

This is a temple to Irori. The mosaic on the floor is one of Irori’s symbols known as the Master’s Rebus.

Perception DC 20:

There seem to be something under the rug in the center alcove. Might be a trap door.

That's some beautiful work. We'll try to not damage it.


Maffei gently moves the rug aside and reveals a trapdoor. Kneeling next to it, she starts inspecting it for traps. after a few minutes of careful inspection, she is sure that there is no danger for anyone to open the trapdoor. Opening it reveals a shaft going down about fifteen feet before turning into a tunnel that heads east. On the western wall of the shaft there is an old but still sturdy ladder.

Hoga climbs down first into the shaft. Once at the bottom, he notices that the corridor is only about ten to fifteen feet long. At the other end, there is another shaft heading up with a ladder on the opposite wall.

Hernvet slowly moves down into the shaft. "Alrighty let me take a look, This'll take a minute if ya'll don't mind watch'in ma back" Hernvet lays his hands on the door and beings using door sight.


Hernvet uses his ability to look into the room beyond the trapdoor. This dusty chamber’s walls are painted with fading frescoes of monks engaged in acts of acrobatic prowess. At the room’s eastern corner is a high-backed stone chair. On it sits a mummified figure clad in white robes, with a braid of black hair circling its neck like an adornment.

Suddenly it occurs to Kakrish that he might need a different perspective in order to unravel the apparent mystery of this place. His comrades seem to be taking their time down below. He lays on his back and stares up at the ceiling. After a few minutes he thrashes his arms and legs from side to side to spin his body all the way around so he head is where his feet were. He continue to stare at the ceiling.

"Hmm. I just don't quite understand yet."


So, the secret trap door, or the regular door in the temple?

Seems a shame to not use the secret one, since Maffei found it. The dead guy might be a zombie or something, triggered to attack whoever comes in the main door. Or, maybe the trap door. Or both... Meh, no point in overthinking it. I'll take the secret door, since it's been safe so far.

Hoga climbs up and tries to open the floor door and look around.
