The meeting in Absalom with Drandle Dreng nearly a month ago was brief, as always. “I have a routine mission for you, though a dangerous routine mission,” the old man whispered in the great hall in the Grand Lodge. Suffering from a cold and weak from lack of food and rest, the old venture-captain looked quite possibly the worst you’d ever seen him. Through wracking coughs he explained, “An ally of ours in the Land of the Linnorm Kings—Rognvald Skagni—is writing a lengthy report on the state of government in the northern countries of Avistan. I received a letter from him just yesterday requesting several key documents from the vaults here to help him finish the report.” Venture-Captain Dreng patted a large, heavy-looking chest next to him. “These are the documents, and I need you to board a ship north to deliver them to Skagni.”
Dreng tried to stand at that point, but a fit of coughing sent him back into his seat. He gestured for a well-dressed, impeccably kept man standing in the shadows of the room to approach and whispered raspy orders to him. The man picked up a small pouch and a large key and handed them both to the party. “Venture-Captain Dreng is unwell, as you
can see. He wished me to give you this key and this pouch of gold. The key opens the chest, and the gold will buy you passage and get you from the Linnorm coast to Trollheim, where Skagni resides. Whatever you do, do not let the chest out of your sight and do not, under any circumstances, allow it to be searched. These documents are for Mr. Skagni’s eyes only. Are we understood?”
Dreng’s nameless servant waited for a reply and then smiled. “Good. Now run along; Venture-Captain Dreng needs his rest.”
You are now on your way to Trollheim. Please make introductions.
Faraz Aram

A passive and serene half-elf listens intently to the Venture-Captain and his friend. The half-elf's skin is quite bronzed and he wears a simple outfit with large flowing pants and a shirt with a wide collar. When the Venture-Captain is done with the briefing, he turns to the party to introduce himself. When he speaks he has a sharp and precise accent that indicates he is from the island of Jalmeray. "Good day to you all, my name is Faraz Aram, a follower of Irori and protector of sacred knowledge. I am, as you may notice, unfamiliar with the harsh weathers of the north. Perhaps we should prepare for such things?"
Faraz will hit the local PF goods shop and buy a cold-weather outfit and furs.
As the party is heading out, he motions to two potions and a wand on his belt. "Should we encounter trouble at any time on this journey and I am need of healing, these potions and this wand will do the trick." Throughout the journey he is very quite, meditating on a book entitled Unbinding the Fetters.

The elf sits quietly, seeming to occupy her time interacting with the tiny monkey sitting on her lap. She takes the time to greet the others warmly, smiling broadly when spoken to. "Im Tessara Omelion and this is my friend, Zeriah. I can't say I'm really happy about the cold again. My last mission had me half frozen. Well, anyway, I can cast a few spells and do a bit of healing."
Faraz Aram
|
"I should tell you that my path is one of peace. Given the option, I prefer to subdue my foes and subject them to fair justice rather than kill them outright. It is good and right to gain knowledge about someone before you sentence them to Pharasma's graveyard."
Tessara Omelion PFS
|
"Id suggest you bring a good chunk of rope with you. I've a neat trick where I can put a foe to slepp for ten seconds or so. If you are quick, you might be able to bind their hands so that no violence is necessary."
Faraz Aram
|
"Good idea."
Faraz will also pick up some rope before leaving.

Goodness, sorry for the typos in the last post! Stupid iPad. Obviously, I meant Sleep in the second sentence.

Greetings fellow pathfinders, I am Brom." a tall man introduces himself. He just wears plain clothing, but remarkable is the near realistic tattoo of a scorpion on his arm. "You know, I will try to do my best, but to be honest, I am best at taking out things fast, with whatever kind of elemental force is available to me.
Tessara Omelion PFS
|
"Pleasure to meet you, Brom. Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not above throwing around a bit of fire, if the situation calls for it. But, I'd rather get by on as little violence as possible," she says with a mischevious grin on her face.
Faraz Aram
|
"Greetings, Brom. My name is Faraz. I follow the teachings of Irori and honor knowledge in all forms, mundane and sacred. I believe we can come to an agreement; we are all Pathfinders and I have come to accept that my ways are not for all. Although, if we have time, perhaps I can teach you a little of the Path of Knowledge and perhaps you will have a better appreciation of Irori's pacifism."
Frunobulax
|
The well-coiffed half-orc concentrates on the conversation. He speaks deliberately, carefully, "I am Frunobulax, and I am a servant of Torag. While I don't share this enthusiasm for pacifism that you two seem to value, I do focus my efforts on those that are evil or have a disregard for the law." He draws in a deep breath through his nose.

Before you leave, you note that Trollheim is very cold. It would be a good idea to purchase some cold-weather gear before heading out.
*time goes by*
You arrive in Trollheim without incident.

Faraz will hit the local PF goods shop and buy a cold-weather outfit and furs.
Already covered!

Tess is sure to don her cold weather gear from her previous mission. "Glad I have this warm gear left over," she thinks as she feels the warm fur over her normal clothing.

Sorry I'm late! Whew! A gnome rushes in to the room as if he were being chased by devils. I hope I didn't miss too much! I lost track of time while, umm, while playing a few friendly games of cards with some good friends of mine. Haha! So easy to lose track of the time, isn't it?
After looking at each of the party members he continues. Oh! Forgive me, new friends. My name is Bizzle Goodwager, Sorcerer, at your service! I may be small but I hope I can exceed your expectations nonetheless!
Bizzle will purchase cold weather gear also.
Tessara Omelion PFS

"Pleasure to meet you Bizzle. I'm Tessara, but everyone calls me Tess. This is my friend Zeriah," the elf indicates, nodding toward her monkey. The little creature smiles toward the gnome.

Who is carrying the chest? It is 2 feet wide, 4 feet long, and 3 feet deep, weighing around 100 pounds.
Frunobulax
|
"I'm sure there is a place to procure ourselves a beast of burden to carry this chest."
Frunobulax seeks out a livery and purchases a donkey for 8 gp. Once back with the others, he manages to tie the chest to the donkey's back with his silk rope.
"That should hold. Now, let us find this Skagni fellow."
Rene Duquesnoy
|
Excellent.
You use the directions from Dreng's assistant. The handwriting is poor, but after a few wrong turns, you locate Skagni's home.
Unfortunately..IT HAS BEEN BURNED TO THE GROUND
You examine the writing and come to the conclusion that it is blood.

Tessara was obviously troubled by the new development. "We clearly need to look around the town to see if someone can shed some light on this. If not, we might have to open the chest and see what we can figure out on our own."

"This does not bode well." Faraz says as he searches about the area.
