okay, so are you all charging the ship full speed ahead? And when do you fire the cannons? If it helps, they have three range increments, 150 feet and 300 feet and 450. It goes off of dex+int+bab. You subtract 4 from the roll for every range increment. Cannons do 30Blunt+3d10 fire dmg to anything they hit and they go against touch AC and they do 1/4 of the damage to anything they don't hit within a 10 foot radius or on anything that is a near miss, as long as a 1 isn't rolled dmg is done to something.

Can I fire more than one gun? I'm assuming I have a better attack modifier than most of the crew does. Also assuming Lillian gives me guidance.

Annie aims in the cannon, waiting for the swell of the ship to line the weapon up with the opposing ship. She waits for the perfect moment and fires!
Cannon: 1d20 + 12 + 1 - 8 ⇒ (1) + 12 + 1 - 8 = 6
I'm not entirely clear on the range penalty for cannons. Do you start taking penalties at the first increment, or the second? If you start at the first, take an additional 4 from that roll.

DungeonMaster

okay, so as Annie instigates a firing, the other ship fires back hit: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (17) = 22
hit: 7 + 1d20 ⇒ 7 + (19) = 26

they are aiming for your ship, which is 15 to hit and so is their ship.

Your ship takes dmg: 60 + 6d10 ⇒ 60 + (6, 5, 2, 9, 5, 8) = 95 your ship has 300 HP

You all have 6 cannons on the ship and there are 13 others on that ship, 11 on deck, 2 on the lower cannons, and watch out, they have more cannons on the deck they have note fired yep, as they only fired from the lower cannons.

PCs now have a turn You can try diplomacy or whatever.

DungeonMaster

okay, so after about a few days worth of travel. Up in the distance you see something. Then before you know it, the lockness monster appears and with it on its back is a bunch of zombies and ghost pirates.

Your ship is not moving, so I need someone with a survival/profession sailor check to steer the ship and move it away from the monster every turn, or ram it if you dare which is a higher DC without the ship taking dmg. You are free to use cannons, but you would get a -8 attack to use the cannons because the monster is moving fast. everyone is 80 feet from you

Heroes are up

One lockness monster, 18 zombies, 9 ghost pirates and 1 queen zombie. you have enough knowledge dc to know these zombies have 35 HP and 15 ac and 10/slashing. and the ghost have dr 10/magic with the same stats. Queen zombie has 17 ac and 70 HP.

Many people are joining you for this combat

"Ram it, indeed! I've half a mind to get over to that monster and give those corpses a piece of my mind," comes a shout from behind the group as murky skinned undine steps out of the crowd of sailors. Garbed in an oiled leather jacket, a loose white tunic that hangs open nearly to his navel, and a pair of black breeches, he looks the part of a brigand. Rather than any hat or bandanna, though, his long dark hair is woven through all manner of seashells, feathers, and beads. He moves with a lithe grace that suits one accustomed to a lifetime spent aboard ships and his bearing speaks of skill honed through experience. Baring more than a few gold-capped teeth in a wicked grin, he steps up closer and settles his palm against the pommel of his ornate cutlass. "And a piece of my steel, of course. Corsair Seville Demair, at your service."

Will make an alias asap.

Ram it my rat-like friend! A persuasive strong voice says. Stepping out from the gathered sailors is a man with boyish good looks. Dressed in a flamboyant outfit covered by a gleaming chain shirt. Holding a bow in one hand he attracts the attention from all onlookers.

This is wondering monsters character. I am finishing up the backstory now.

A man steps up. Dressed in wragged cloths covered in a breastplate. Longbow in hand and a sword straped to his back. He stands about 6 feet tall, and looks quit muscular. Quit the rugged handsome look.

Come on you sea dogs. Lets show em what we got. Put those unholy corpse to the bottom of the sea.

With that anyone close enough will hear him say a few quick words and move his hands about.

Cast heroism on himself. Good for 40 minutes.

DoubleGold posted it in the discussion section. "this is true, it still is dex+int+bab. But they are slow firing as there is a delay from the time it fires to the time it takes for the ball to leave the cannon and this smart creature will try to dodge it. so you will have a -8 penalty against this specific creature or anything on its back. It is assumed you are proficient and under normal circumstances you have no penalty."
