He waits for the Isabella and Copper to open the door, hefting the weight of his weapon in his hand. I'm not sure if I want there to be trouble or not... I wonder what that means, he ponders to himself.

The northern wing of the tower seems to have escaped the worst effects of the collapse, but rubble still litters the floor and everything is covered in a thick layer of stone dust. Thick cobwebs cloak the ceiling and hang down the walls like gossamer tapestries. A single archway stands open in the southwest wall.

You notice a small cocoon in the north-west corner where an object hanging one side is glinting in the light coming from the doorway.

Tam looks up at the ceiling, at the cocoon and the object. She pulls her goggles down over her eyes and taps them, whispering a quick prayer. A stone on the goggles, sitting on her forehead, glows with a steady illumination.

"Cobwebs..." she muses. She calls back out, "Hey, Candle Boy, I think I'm going to need you here. We got cobwebs everywhere."

Brand stops hefting his morningstar and makes a friendly smile as the masked woman retreats. He is interrupted by the calling of "Candle Boy" from Copper's voice. "Ah, duty calls." He begins to snap his fingers as he enters in behind the rest of the party.

*snaps his fingers*
"Hmm hmm... Darkness and cobwebs you both say." *snaps his fingers* "Let's see if I can find any illumination on the subject." He mumbles a divine chant in infernal, and then reaches out to touch Isabella's buckler.*snaps his fingers* It begins to glow with light.

*snaps his fingers*
"You know, I'm not really all that great of a fire caster, stabby-lady." he says. *snaps his fingers* "But I'll see what I can do."

He *snaps his fingers* one more time as he casts Spark on the cocoon.

As Brand steps into the room, you hear a rustling from somewhere in the upper corner of the room. Suddenly, you hear a whooshing sound as a blob of white shoots out from nowhere.

Brand is now entangled in a sticky webbing from mid-calf to the waist, impeding his mobility. No one knows where the web shot out from due to the draping webs blocking your vision. What creature would suddenly shoot a web though...?

Escape Artist or STR check to break free. Surprise round is over.

After a second of silence that seemed like forever to Brand, a giant spider suddenly falls down upon him, its feet spread wide waiting to latch onto its prey.

I've never encountered having to make multiple concentration checks at the same time before. Is the DC the highest of the bunch or a check for each one?
I'll make a check for each one, and DM can choose to use the first as a single, or all as a group?

I can't find if any definite ruling has been established for this but general response in the forums is separate roll checks for each. Why is your AC only 12 BTW? I only just realized you have a Studded Leather Armor among your gear.

Brand's hand starts emitting sparks but before it starts to become strong enough to break the web, his hand was suddenly pulled down by one of the legs holding him, breaking the effect.

Isabella moves past Brand and attacks the spider. As she moves past the spider it attacks her, but she has her sword out and tries to deflect the attack.

She regains one panache for the crit as the spider must have at least 1 HD, which is more then half her lvl. The parry and riposte cost her one, so this round she stays at 2.

@Isabella - Both the spider and Brand are in grappled condition, so no AoO can be taken by the spider. That means your Panache is back to 3 due to crit.

Isabella's attack leaves a deep gash on the spider's back. It looks deeply irritated, but does not release Brand.

With all legs finally free, the spider is able to dodge Elsabeth's stab, her blade passing between its legs harmlessly. Brand's sparks only cause the spider to hiss back at him, but he is able to move back to safety.

@Brand - bad luck... reading back, you will notice that most of the webs are hanging from the ceiling. The only thick webbed floor area are the northwestern parts.

She tugs at her belt, whipping off the scarf, and attempts to wrap the spider up in it.

As Ashen hits the wall from the other side, the hollow ringing distracts the spider enough as Isabella cuts through its thin mid-section. It shivers a bit, the front two legs trying to pull itself forward towards Brand before it finally drops and lies still.

"I have a single potion, but I would like to keep that for emergencies. Brand and Elsabeth, do one of you have one of those wands or any other magic to cure Tam and Brand? Otherwise it might be prudent to visit a temple and come back after you are healed."

Cure Light Wounds at a temple is only 10 gp, as compared to the 50 for the potion...

Brand watches the spider fall dead in its charge. "ਨਾਇਸ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਹਰ ਕੋਈ!" Infernal: "Nice work everyone!"

He takes a moment to compose himself, and listen to the conversation at hand. "One of my reasons for entering the temple is to obtain coin for better gear. I can take care of minor wounds, but the number is limited."

"It would probably be better that we head into town."

If I had prestige, I would get a wand of CLW. First game for Brand though. Brand has 4 uses of 1st level spells and could cast CLW. But since the first encounter would use up half his spell slots, I'm okay with getting potions in town. He only has 30 gold, so no potions to pick up for him.
