Upon opening the compass, you see the needle upon it continuously changing directions and you're not able to discern where it should be pointing to.

Grand Lodge

Sorry for the slow flow this week guys. Work and holiday preparations are just killing me XD. I hope you all have more time to do fun stuff this weekend.

The dretch simply looks at Bobbity as it hears the singing behind like a shadow music box. It shrugs and trudges forward, ignoring him as it climbs the shallow flight of stairs.

On the next platform, it sees a lot of dried blood splatter. The fires from the torches light up the place quite well but gives a gloomy feel to the room.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

It does not see anything else in particular and tells Morgana it looks like home. Bloody and empty.

Grand Lodge

Hey guys,
Starting this weekend, I'm not sure how often I can manage to post since I'll be working on a company project in China for the following 30 days. Hopefully, the internet connection is stable at the staff house so I can at least keep up somehow. :)

Hey guys,

Grand Lodge

The sun passes overhead as the group discusses. The group ratfolk younglings visit, bringing with them a hot pot of broth, some bread and cheese. They meekly put it down near the archway of the room with your cots and couldn't help but ogle at Nikolas' armor. It's obvious they haven't seen one before.

Grand Lodge

Map updated and Dretch token added. Please don't forget to position yourselves.

Ilya is sure none of the Captain's equipment is magical, except for faint traces in the vials and potion. The dretch shuffles forward some more and sees a low flight of stairs to the right.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

@Morgana:

Telepathically speaking in Abyssal: Alls clears here mistress.

Grand Lodge

Morgana finds the remaining 8 vials of holy water, a light metal shield, a longsword, and a breastplate. Additionally, in his pouches are 15 gold pieces and a potion of CLW.

The dretch sniffs at the holy water curiously as he heads down the hallway Morgana directed.

Grand Lodge

If everyone needs a time off, just let me know. We can continue this if everyone can keep up the pace if need be.

Grand Lodge

@Morgana:

I'll let you keep full control over it. We'll use the normal Dretch in PRD.

T'wer must us be goings mistresss...? it thinks to you telepathically.

Grand Lodge

Everyone still in vacation?

Grand Lodge

As the blood makes contact with the water, smoky tendrils of red seem to erupt from the blood. It spreads across the bluish water. Bluish shapes swirl in anger as they turn to red until the whole pool glows with bright red hue. It shines for a moment and seems to pulsate as a whirlpool forms in the middle, sucking all the liquid into a large orb of mass and arcane energy.

Alright. Morgana, please choose the creature under the Summon Monster III list. Feel free to describe how it emerges and what it looks like.
Aside from that, it's up to you guys how to proceed from here.

Grand Lodge

Yeah, I was actually hoping she'd fall. There was a scenario that I thought up just in case her rolls didn't win against you.

Grand Lodge

@Nickolas:

The ratfolk does not know what compass you are talking about. One of them however did tell you about a lone wanderer who said he came from further east, down the river, who visited the village before going back a week before.

You are informed that the area near the village has rich forests and bountiful river waters. Aside from the orc tribes in the west up on the cliffs and harpies' nests further north, there are no enemies to look out for that they know of. This is why they do not know where the fire elementals came from

Grand Lodge

@Morgana:

It's only DC5 for Morgana, so you know what the daggers represent with your roll since you managed to detect them.

Also, with that Spellcraft Roll, you not only know about the spell and drop of blood requirement. You also know that if it's YOUR blood that is dropped, the magic is augmented with the power of vengeance that it will allow you to Summon Monster III (1 hour duration) but these are automatically Chaotic.

Grand Lodge

Gather Info is done using Diplomacy.

Grand Lodge

A bit of intervention might help give direction.

INT Check DC15 (can be done once per day):

You notice that the slots on the compass are roughly the same size as the white orbs you carry.

Grand Lodge

Bobbity manages to shove Morgana reaallllyy close to the edge of the pool but she manages to find decent footing in the stone floor.

Too bad.

Grand Lodge

@Crucible:

You're sure that the horse is merely unconscious and not hurt. He should recover in a few more hours.

Grand Lodge

I think this should be a STR contest. Bobbity roll a stealth roll before STR check. Morgana will do an opposed STR check.
IF Morgana manages to see Bobbity shove her, then your reflex save above may apply but with DC+5 against Bobbity's STR roll.

Grand Lodge

Map has been updated.

Morgana & Bobbity definitely feels the presence of arcane energies around the pool. Everyone recalls something from their past, a minor event or otherwise, that makes them feel the need for revenge.

The swirling blue liquid glows faintly, coloring everyone in a faint bluish tint.

Perception DC14:

You notice that at three equidistant points around the pool are three small daggers among various smaller runes.
Knowledge Religion roll please. I can't stack spoilers...

Knowledge Religion DC10 (ONLY IF SOMEONE GETS THE PERCEPTION ROLL):

These daggers are definitely a symbol representing Calistria.

Spellcraft DC12:

You know that the pool was used for summoning creatures to defend the monastery. It was possible to use it multiple times, but with the remaining water, you can only use it once more.

Spell: Summon Monster II (1 hour duration)

It's magic can be invoked by a single drop of blood into the water, but there are clues among the runes saying:

"Only Revenge's Chosen can bring about the vengeance of lost souls."

Grand Lodge

You can retro-post your actions before sleeping but I'm putting this up just to keep things moving.

Your group was able to rest without interruption. It seems that the ratfolk either revere your abilities enough to avoid disturbing you as well. Day breaks and you are all wakened (except for Crucible) by the gaggle of the village's farm animals moving about.

Grand Lodge

I've been checking in regularly but your posts doesn't trigger anything yet nor does it clearly state any action except for Bobbity...

Grand Lodge

@Nickolas: You can post in the Gameplay section now.

Grand Lodge

As Raffe sits and studies, the strings of his pouch loosen as if pulled by an unseen hand. Its contents spill out and two white orbs spill out, one of his and the other from Fariza. The first one to roll out falls into a niche between the hard stone floor. The second one follows gently and as they click against one another, a flash of light explodes from within them! A portal suddenly expands above just below the ceiling, like twisting tendrils of energy around a view of what looks like the starry sky above.

From the portal emerged the form of a saddled horse which collapsed onto the floor followed by a man in full plate. The horse is still unconscious but the man shakes his head as if dazed...

Well... more space for roleplay here and Nickolas finally gets to post here! :)

Grand Lodge

Anyone planning to react to Morgana?

Grand Lodge

@Raffe:

That trinket can help you find others of your group. It's also supposed to be a power source of some kind, but I am not sure how or for what...

If you're ready to sleep just RP it. You can look for supplies in the morning or tonight if you wish.

Grand Lodge

@Nickolas: I'm actually looking for the stat block to audit, if available already.
Click on Crucible's or Raffe's profile for reference. Also, here's one of mine: Jake Bladebound

Grand Lodge

@Raffe:
Eh? Weren't you briefed by the deity you champion before coming here??? What kind of knuckle-headed god called for you anyway?
THIS IS A QUEST! To prevent the destruction of the worlds by warring gods, it has been decided that mortals will battle in their stead! You must journey to the Pantheon of Ages to prove yourself worthy of godly boons before the final battle with the champions of Chaos, lest you wish to simply lose to them like a moth to a flame!

Crucible comes back into the temple and does a quick inspection of the place.

Knowledge (Engineering)/Craft (Carpentry)/Survival DC5:
The temple's stone walls stand with only scorches and repairs to the roof and ceiling are the only things necessary. The western part of the temple is still whole and it would only be slightly more cold during the night. Still, it's enough shelter for a cozy sleep.

Roll a 1d6 for the number of hours you need for cleaning. This can be divided among party members evenly. Consider yourselves fed and have beds to sleep in for the night.

Grand Lodge

Heey, nice to see you here! :)

Can you still adjust your PC name to include the nickname? I tend to forget little things like that over the weekend when I'm off Paizo. Also, I'm waiting on your profile before I roleplay you into the Gameplay section.

Grand Lodge

Good rolls but remember to REMOVE THE LOWEST roll for each set. Post in the discussion tab for a short introduction of yourself when you're ready.

Grand Lodge

@Raffe:

You feel something pass through your mind from Thalachos something that you can only describe as a mental shrug.

So, what do you plan to do? The other group should be racing towards the Pantheon as we speak.

@Crucible:

The elder waves at the temple You can stay as long as you need in the temple. If you are in need of provisions, please just ask.

Grand Lodge

Just to put things in perspective, Raffe is back inside the temple next to a smoldering log and Crucible is outside dealing with the ratfolk. Issac is still inside the temple as well in the hallway.

@Crucible:

He nods and scampers away. Moments later, an elder approaches you and hands you a small chest. Here, please take it. For saving our yo- uhm, children.

Inside the small chest is 2000g.

He continues to talk and says We do not know of the box you speak of, but don't worry about the orcs. Old Greevy keeps them occupied... although somewhat indifferent, we trust him to warn us if they pose any danger.

@Raffe:

Heh, then Chaos' plots have gotten in your way quite well. Although interfering is officially not allow, the gods have ways to do things undetected...
I have no name, though I was made to support whomever found me first. Feel free to call me what you wish. I can only recall Sarenrae saying 'the compass shall lead the way.'

Grand Lodge

Just by looking at it, you see faint runes and other inscriptions upon the rods surface. After a few moments of study, you are very certain that it is a Metamagic Rod of Empowerment. There are some blackened runes at one end that look like it's burned out, but you're certain you can use it at least once per day.

Usage improves by 1/day if the wielder is at level 5 and 15, for a maximum of 3/day.

As soon as Raffe touches the rod however, he suddenly hears something inside his mind as if someone was talking to him telepathically...

*yawn*
Wow! That was some sleep!
I've been waiting for a decade you know! Sarenrae was ever so delicate in packing me away but it looked like you almost lost me to the flaming thing!
So... which group do you belong too eh? The frenzies of freedom or the stiffs?

Item Powers: 1d100 ⇒ 91 (wow... lucky roll)

... it was then that you realize that this is an intelligent item!

Intelligent Item Stats:

Base Form: Metamagic Rod of Empowerment (Usage improves by 1/day if the wielder is at level 5 and 15, for a maximum of 3/day.)
Name: ???
Alignment: ???
Purpose: ???
Senses: Telepathy, Read Languages
Item Power: Dispel Magic 3/day
Dedicated Power: When faced against the group of Chaos, the wielder gets +2 luck bonus on all saves.

Grand Lodge

Inside the metal container, you find a shiny silver rod about 1ft in length held tightly against a red velvet cushion fitted inside. Beside the rods is a silver compass with three circular slots forming a delta at the center.

On the side of the lid, a small metal plate is attached with the following words etched upon its surface.

Neutral lands shall be wandered by five seekers called,
by Order and Chaos shall they be assembled.
The Pantheon stands upon the floating isle unseen,
pulls the thrice powered needle held within.

Below the text is a rough drawing of the compass with 3 circles above it.

Grand Lodge

The cold container finally thaws out. Despite still being cold to touch, the hinges no longer seem stuck nor is the package locked.

Grand Lodge

The screams from inside the monastery fall silent as you all exit, the corpses on the hallway more still than before. The only thing that can be seen moving inside before the doors close is the rippling light from the pool on the far side from the door.

Grand Lodge

The small metal box is still frozen but you think it will thaw just after a few minutes near a heat source.

Grand Lodge

As soon as Bobbity regains control, he flings the first bomb he could get his hands on and flings it right at the ghouls open jaw. Moments later an explosion rocks the hallway as its head explodes, raining the remaining members in flesh and blood.

Nice, maximum damage was just enough to kill it.
@Morgana: you can keep your Disrupt Undead spell since it's no longer necessary.

What do you do next?

Grand Lodge

Crucible finds that none of the ratfolk are gravely injured and would recover easily with a few days of rest. However, they do look less panicked now that they the ones who rescued their younglings come out alive. A couple of them from the rear starts to dance while you can see some of them holding on to their young tightly.

"This Temple of Alseta is where our town healer was when the first explosion occurred, did you not find her?" one of the ratfolk said.
"Our village does not have an inn, but there are cots stored in the temple you can use to rest if they have not yet been burned."

Grand Lodge

The skeleton easily plant's an arrow into the creature's body but it continues to take off Captain Ehvan's armor to consume him.

CDG Damage: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 2) + 2 = 9 (-HP > CON)

Despite the healing Morgana applied, the ghoul easily bites off the captain's head. It proceeds to chew on it as Bobbity regains control of his body.

Everyone may act.

Grand Lodge

Alright, you guys have some time again anyway. I'll leave it to you and Raffe to roleplay the exploration of the temple and deal with the frozen box. I'll respond to how you act so don't wait for me.

Also, don't forget unconscious Issac and the ratfolk.

I won't stop you from doing rolls in advance if it's in accordance to your actions (e.g. Perception and Knowledge Checks). In fact, that would help speed PbP a lot. :)

Grand Lodge

Oh wow. I just realized that Issac had the Augment Summoning feat so every attack by the eagle would have had +2 attk/dmg. Retroactively adding those in the map's damage counter. The burn damage would still kill it off though, despite the +4 CON.

As the fire elemental dances around the assault by Crucible, a portal opened where the eagle disappeared and seemed to suck in some of the enemy's flames (that's the extra damage...). He is now looking very faint, with large portions of its fiery body flickering.

Raffe takes advantage of the situation and manages to plant his ray onto the elemental's core! The metal cube within it freezes solid and starts spreading across the creature's body as it collapses and crashes onto the ground. The still frozen cube remains still upon the elemental's now frozen fragments.

Combat is over. His touch AC is 14 with no cover. Good job and LEVEL UP!

As the creature collapses, Issac does so as well and is unconscious. The remaining flames around the corner of the temple are very faint now and continues to fade away.

1d100 ⇒ 18

Grand Lodge

Let's see if your friend will want to join first before I call for replacements.

Grand Lodge

LOL I'm beginning to wonder when Crucible will get an attack roll above 10. Then again, even my rolls are bad. Even with a +7 bonus, the elemental has only managed to hit you once.

Grand Lodge

Sorry for the late post. Some emergency stuff caught me at work yesterday until overtime...

Morgana blasts the nearest ghoul with a powerful ray of energy, causing the remnants of its skin to melt off its body before collapsing. Meanwhile, the remaining ghoul ignores the others and proceeds to take a bite out of Captain Evhan.

Bite Attk vs helpless target: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
CON Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 (success)

Although the wound was deep, the sturdy captain just managed to keep himself from crossing over. However, he's looking as sick as ever...

Everyone may act. Last round of paralysis.

Grand Lodge

You'd roll off the bad numbers eventually Crucible. :)
Burn Dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 5

The flames upon the eagle suddenly burst and engulfs it, forcing the creature back to its home plane.

Slam Attk: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

The elemental's attack is useless against Crucible's near perfect defense who merely shoved his shield against its fires.

Everyone may act.

Grand Lodge

Book has PM'd me and wouldn't be back.
No, no other contacted me but I feel like a smaller group is easier and faster to play with on PbP. What do you guys think? A group of 3 or 4?

Grand Lodge

Let's wait for the others to post. The most active PC will definitely get CDG'd if they're delaying and I don't want to force them back into the fight if they didn't want to.

Grand Lodge

The elemental dances around Crucible's feeble attempts to bring it down as it burns down Raffe's Ray of Frost. Issac is still in pain and does not realize that his eagle is slowly being eaten away by fire.

Burn Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Despite this, the eagle swoops aside and eagerly attacks the elemental.

Talon 1: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 2 = 24, Dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Talon 2: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 2 = 21, Dmg: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Peck: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9

Its two talons leave a mark upon the elemental's fiery core, but it barely flinches. The elemental steps back to avoid being flanked and focuses on destroying the pesky bird.

Slam Attk: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

This time however, the eagle was able to flap away from the attack.

Everyone may act.

Grand Lodge

Well, you guys do have 1 Hero Point each (or Chaos Points) since no one has used any yet but that's not enough to cheat death. Just a reminder.
