"Ladies first, I suppose," Kris states, investigating this effect.

The mistress of bones makes it halfway across the room when she gives pause. An intense feeling of displeasure seems to emanate from the walls themselves; Kris has the feeling that the soul of the midnight mirror does not like it when folks trespass in its toyroom.
In a flash, dozens of previously harmless objects in the room transform from blunt to razor sharp, and two chairs take on a life of their own! They scuttle over, making to attack the intruder. The silver raven is one of the few objects in the room not to undergo a transformation.
The floors will cause 1d4 points of damage per 5' of land movement, and halves the speed of anyone who takes damage.

Shandor's ray hits true, but it's energy is harmlessly dissipated by the objects tough exterior. The wizards magic missiles, meanwhile, blow away a small chunk of a chair, while Kris' zombie lands a solid blow. However, some of the zombie's force is absorbed by the faux-wood.
One of the chairs throws itself at the zombie but misses, while the other chair moves over to Kris and lands true with it's attack!

Balwyn's powerful attack misses, but the Pharasman priest provides him with a minor blessing to aid his next strike. Leastrie's blade strikes true, yet much of the force is absorbed by the chair's magical toughness.

Magic missiles streak through the darkness and rotted flesh hits shadowstuff as the battle for baubles rages on.
The chair attacking the zombie leaps up and lands an incredibly well placed blow with its leg - fortunately, it is only a dinner chair, not a mighty throne; the blow is feeble. The chair puts an eye out of the zombie that the undead wasn't using anyways.
The other chair lands a glancing blow on Kris.

Nothing else seems to stir in this room, and besides the magical silver bauble little of worth remains in the room. Those trapped within the room carefully pick their way among the sharp trash to extricate themselves.
As they limp out there is a low growl that seems to emanate from vibrations in the floor itself.
Baldwyn, Kris and Leastrie have numerous, painful splinters of wood in their legs which continue to hinder their movement. Simple curative magic would suffice to eject the foreign objects, however.

As the six approach the door barring the way to Elenuta, they can barely hear her manic ranting through the door.
"Trakis, I feel it! The next time we find our way out of this room, we will win our freedom! And then... their heads, Trakis, we shall mount them on pikes to show the fate of those who imprison the righteous and the just!"
A male voice responds.
"Yes mistress... wait, do you hear us? Something at the door!"
The ranting goes silent.

Chuurock has a bit of insight after hearing the tone of this woman; she is very likely to be unreasonable, possibly insane from her captivity. Her voice was very unsteady and she sounded like she was talking for her own benefit, not to her follower.

Shandor tries to activate the chime on two occasions, then allows for Baldwyn or Leastrie to go in first.
2nd charge: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
| DM Ranginui |
Assuming you went to the next closest door with an average lock, the chime works.
The six move to the western room in the central structure, whereupon Shandor manages to open the lock using the Chimes magic. Baldwyn opens the door and peers inside.
This elegant room resembles a fine dining room on the Material Plane, spread with a feast fit for a great lord. A stairway in the room’s northwest corner leads up to another floor.
The western wall oozes the same black ichor as seen in the portrait room and the hallway to the north.
Shandor "The Beast"
|
Shandor glances through the door and casts a spell to empower his vision with the gift of seeing magic auras. Casting detect magic from outside the room to scan it.
Once (or if) he's assured that everything should be safe, he steps inside to inspect this black ichor on the wall. "This black ichor again... could this be a path leading to the Heart?"
Correct me if I'm wrong, but does the black ichor seep from the four walls of the "center room"? Could we surmise the Heart would be there? Is it apparently possible to go through the ooze? Hence my detect magic to see if there are magical means to go that way.
| DM Ranginui |
Yes, the black ichor seeps from the walls of the same room. There doesn't seem to be an easy or magical route through the walls, although they do appear less structurally sound then the other walls
| DM Ranginui |
Your knowledge of planar lore suggests that since the heart and the plane are basically identical, destroying the heart will have catastrophic impact on this plane; it will begin to dissolve.
