Although I suppose it's hard to tell in a Zon-Kuthonite temple, these seem to be more of the painful variety.

DM Ranginui |

Intimidation certainly works better if a gm writes a meaningful, well constructed, sentence.
Sigh, edit...

DM Ranginui |

At the temple:
potion of remove disease, shield
wand of cure light wounds
+1 grayflame heavy mace
scrolls of align weapon, bless, blindness/deafness, bull’s strength, comprehend languages, cure light wounds (3), cure moderate wounds, darkness, detect undead, lesser restoration, magic weapon (2), protection from chaos, protection from good, remove fear, resist energy, silence
He has at least 4 of any mundance or alchemical healing related item 400 gp or under.

DM Ranginui |

Baldwyn wants hard mode :) ?
EDIT: ...or, you're possibly referring to the fact that Baldwyn can't use scrolls... check.

Your second guess is right. I can haz moar poshuns? :-P

Just eat the scrolls; that might work.

Tempting.

In a home game I'm helping run, I'm so making that a Barbarian Rage Power.

DM Ranginui |

Sorry, no potion crafters in town. You can still ask around, you might be able to find something specific some peasant is clutching onto, although not at night (no promises on the taste of those potions, though...)

DM Ranginui |

The cleric is available for spellcasting services up to 3rd level spells, or at least those that don't have the good, chaotic, or light descriptors.

DM Ranginui |

Did anybody have any additional questions for the cleric? And where did you folks wish to go now?

![]() |

Post may or may not be appropriate, but it seems like we've been traveling around at night for quite a while. If we're at risk of fatigue, Kris will insist on sleeping (as per post.)

![]() |

Agreed as well. Let's head to the inn to sleep.

![]() |

Candlemaker then? After treating Guilford, that is.

![]() |

I'm still not sure why you guys want to fight a creature that can go invisible by simply moving towards a window without blinds when fighting during the day, but I might just be missing something. These server outages and post eatings got me all messed up.

![]() |

So what's the plan? I guess I didn't pick up on thinking the chandler was the lurker.
@Kris: You think heading to the chandler in daylight is a bad idea then? Where should we head?

![]() |

All rhymes given by the satyr pointed to a Lurker-in-Light being located at the chandler (either with or as his leader), and the info we got from the friendly bone-grinder said the fae turns invisible in bright light.
I would think that hitting that one at night would be best, though if you want to go for it...
I'd say investigating this missing runaway lover would be the best lead.

![]() |

That sounds good to me. As far as dealing with the lurker at night, I can cast darkvision, and Chuurock has it, so at least we might level the field a bit there.
GM, it sounded like Remove Disease would take care of my malady, so I'll head back tot the temple to grab one of those.
And sorry if I made Gil sound bostuse or something. I really wasn't sure how meta-gamey it woul dbe for him to assume his sore throat = the disease. I mean, he does have 16 INT, so he's smarter than I am IRL, so I guess he can think of stuff I wouldn't.
Of course, I'm such a hypochondriac IRL I would have jumped to that conclusion irght away...

![]() |

GM, I assume you'll be handing the Caster Level Check for Remove disease in spoilers, ja? I actually kinda want to see if I can Control Undead or Detect Undead at them, though I presume the Kuthite already tried, do ho ho.

![]() |

I don't mind waiting until this evening to visit the candlemaker. We could have done it yesterday evening though.
In any case, Shandor won't mind the darkness. He has natural darkvision and has better perception in dim light.

![]() |

Guess Baldwyn is odd man out being merely human, hahaha. Ah well, I'll cope. Actually... if I can find them in town, I may be able to get some nightdrops. Grants low-light vision for an hour, 5 doses per vial, 250 gp. Again, if I can find some in town. Unlikely, but worth a look with this information from last night.

DM Ranginui |

Darkvision, being an arcane or ranger spells, is not something that Priest Radu Miklos has or can create.
Darkness or deeper darkness, on the other hand, is something he can easily (and happily) provide, although the latter will take him most of the day.

DM Ranginui |

So it sounds like the party wants to head to the chandlery late in the evening, although a couple of voices haven't chimed in yet.
The party has visited most other places of note in town at least once, the major exception being Shade Row, the ghetto for the Kayal/Fetchlings. You also haven't explored the Manor House very extensively, which you were given leave to do by the Baron and Baroness.
Here are a few things I'm happy to have happen offscreen:
1d100 ⇒ 1 - You find a local ranger with a scroll of darkvision after 1d4 ⇒ 1 hours of looking - standard price (150 gp)
He will sell you an effective remove disease casting - 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 success! at the price of 150 gp. Or, he will happily give the spell to you in exchange for being a "volunteer" in his medical research - which means mechanically 1 hour of surgery and 5 hours of gaining the sickened afterwords. But hey, it's free...

![]() |

Leastrie pulls out 15 platinum pieces and purchases three antiplagues. That was all the coin had to use for purchases, I will use one for myself, but the other two are for the use of the party.

DM Ranginui |

So I need some clarification: are you looking for the baker's wife (Irini) again, or the person that she was having an affair with?

DM Ranginui |

Nice roll on gather info, btw
I will transition to the chandler's tomorrow, in case you folks wish to do anything else. Let me know if you wish to approach the cargo doors ( lower level) or shopfront (upper) or other.
Also "incredibly wry" was supposed to be "incredibly spry". Where's my editor?
Edit: unless you want to go to the manor instead.

![]() |

Either is fine with me.

![]() |

I don't think we have a single stealthy person in our party, so front door, half-pretending investigating the plague and using candlestick light to ward away shadows sounds my plan idea.
-Posted with Wayfinder

DM Ranginui |

For the sake of moving things along I transitioned you to the front door of the chandlery. Map is already up (sorry, grid didn't go into the street.) Feel free to rearrange yourselves.

DM Ranginui |

If a torch is used in combat, treat it as a one-handed improvised weapon that deals bludgeoning damage equal to that of a gauntlet of its size, plus 1 point of fire damage.

DM Ranginui |

Inverse battle. The people that ran in the first battle won the second, the folks that won the first battle didn't get a chance to go in the second.

![]() |

For the record, I would like to apologize for Baldwyn's tendency to quote everything and the feeling as if he stepped out of some cheesy movie. That's sort of his personality.

DM Ranginui |

The DM would request that someone arrange the group before Baldwyn proceeds down the ladder (not stairs). It's 10' to the floor below.

![]() |

I did something with the pieces, at least they're all in the right room now. Not sure where everyone wants to be, but I put melees up front and castys farther back.
