Geez I take the afternoon off to fish and come back to a pile of posts! Just in time for my turn though at least. The perch bite was nuts!

Frankie's entered "Child's Play" mode, I see.

Ya I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to handle combat with Frankie, multiple personalities would make it easier and more things to RP. He's got to be able to do stuff in combat, I was thinking of going the improvised weapons route, being able to kick asses with teddy bears and cocoa mugs but they aren't finesseable so that's kinda out.
He's definitely not going to be a combat heavy guy but there are some fights where he's going to need to put out a bit of damage, I just need to figure out how to do it and keep with his overall character idea.

Chronicles for all!
Thank you all so much for playing with me through my first foray behind the GM screen! You all made it an absolute blast and your feedback and corrections when I went too far afield were very helpful. Do you guys have any final notes/suggestions for me so I can improve for next time?

The chronicles aren't accessible. Right click the folder and click 'Get Shareable Link', then paste the link that shows up :)
As for your game, nothing really bad that I can think of, actually. Your expository writing was great - something I really admire in GMs as it's a harder to paint a scene with words than it is to roll some dice. You did well with combat either way, and I didn't feel like anything was unfair or overly easy. 10/10 would play again!

Yeah, I've lessened my "games plate" pretty severely... I'm down to 2 after this and Silken Caravan finish. Gallows will be done soon too.
I picked up a Skulls & Shackles table for another GM while he's away, I'm hoping he comes back soon, I'm itching to start my own AP!

Oh you wanted to access the chronicles? Picky picky! Alright fine, here ya go...
Chronicles I guess. Haha!

Compared to that, i'm involved in more than 1 AP.
And a number of PFS.
Is it wrong to want to have a PC die, just so i can quit a game legit?
^^
Granted, i've the time frame for it.
Edit: We're only missing the date of when you reported it, but we can edit that in ourselves.
Wednesday 22nd, right?
| GM Mjolbeard |
Yeah...I've been trying to cut back some recently, but still involved in a bunch. I'm in 4 APs/long-term campaigns plus 5 PFS games. I had about 8 games going up until the past week or two, but this game and a couple others wrapped up, so that'll help.
Edit: Crap! Forgot the dates. Yeah it'll be Feb 22 that the game wrapped up. I'll work on reporting the game here too.

OH! I just noticed you're in that Northlands table, Sir Beard.
I used to play in that as Haldor last year, but when the original GM disappeared, I wasn't a big fan of the homebrew. I remember being really sour about him disappearing because that was the second game I ever joined and I'd worked pretty hard on my character, haha. How are you liking it?

Thanks for the chronicle, GM! I hope I wasn't too much of a handful.
Now that Meredith is level 2 it's time to make a million decisions on how to build her.
Call me if you ever need more people for your scenarios!

Weee! Chronicles! Great fun, bring Frankie back any time. As everyone else said, great writing, combat descriptions go a long way in making the scene vivid, you did great. Of the limited GM's I've played under in PbP, you and Red are top notch in that for sure.
I'll be out of town till Sunday so I'll get back to any more comments then. I've got some ice fishin/drinkin to do!

Oh yeah! I think we figured that out back when we were playing through Skykey Solution or something. Yeah, it's continued to be pretty hit-and-miss, even with the new GM. He's frequently really busy because he and his wife are about to have their first child. The home-brew elements are fine, but the campaign has really been moving at a crawl. I've actually been thinking about dipping out of that one because that initial investment that we all put into our characters and the connections between them has kinda evaporated.
Generally positive feedback
Thanks for the support, everyone. I definitely have taken a lot of inspiration from some of the GMs I've played under as far as giving decent combat descriptions goes (definitely including you, Red), so I'm glad that came across well.
One thing I was a bit concerned with was whether you felt like I was doing too much hand-holding in places, especially as it came to different skill checks and such. Any thoughts on that?

Wiffle! I just remembered!
I've only done Wounded Wisp in PbP, and that puzzle slows us down a lot, everytime. The activation is so specific with so many high Perception checks I never remember. This is a scenario that would take maybe 10 minutes in real time if we were at a table, but we wind up losing a few days in PbP because we try it, the GM tells us it's wrong, we try something else, the GM tells us it's wrong again, we have to try again, finally the GM guides one of our hands to the chalk and the nameplate. That's somewhere as a GM, I would actually would hold hands after the first try- it's just not exciting for the amount of time we lose, you know?
Next time, could you transcribe the handwritten letters? I've done some myself and it's a huge pain. But the readability improvement is too good to pass up. Even a quick "Highlight with a mouse and copy-paste" will do wonders, just put it in a spoiler.
| GM Mjolbeard |
Yes! Meredith I had the same problem in the PbP group I played through this with a few months back. If I remember correctly, I think one of us managed the Perception check, then the GM just said, 'Hey you're in!' Good to know that it would actually benefit from a bit more guidance there, though.
And yeah, I think I will copy over the letters for future reference. It just makes it a bit easier to refer to immediately within the post.
Thanks for the great suggestions!

By the way, if any of you are indeed interested in playing with me again, keep an eye on Flaxseed. I'll be posting an announcement for another game in the next few days or so. (That is, I'll be announcing in the next few days. Game probably won't start for another couple weeks so I can get it prepped.)
