GM Mjolbeard |

Welcome and thanks for signing up for this run of the Scions of the Sky Key series, folks!
First off, I must confess that this is my second time in the GM seat, so we may have one or two sketchy spots here and there, but I'm always open to constructive criticism and advice, so we can definitely still have a great time. I've been playing PFS for about 2 years now, about two thirds of which has included PBP as a venue. I mention this to reassure you that, despite my relative lack of experience on this side of the table, I do value the game and will do my best to make it a fun experience for all. With that in mind, here are a few expectations that I will hold for myself as well as my players:
1) Please try to maintain a posting rate of 1+ post/weekday. Weekends are almost always busier for me than weekdays in one way or another, so I may or may not post during that timeframe. I'd accept the same from you.
2) Please list important information about your character in the Classes/Levels section of your stat block. Please also have your full character sheet available in your character's profile. If you're at all unsure what I'm talking about, feel free to take a look at my PFS characters for some examples.
3) I'll roll initiative for combats and perception for potential surprise situations. I'll also provide information for knowledge checks in spoilers with the DCs listed. Please refrain from reading the spoilers unless you make the DC with the appropriate skill check.
That's it for the most part. As far as start date goes, I'll get things going once the Blood Under Absalom special wraps up. For now, please visit the On the Table link above or the SoSK link in my header, head to the second page, and fill in the requested info for your character. You can also dot in on the gameplay thread with your character of choice.
One final note: James, I noticed the two characters you listed as available for this series were in different sub-tiers. It looks like everyone else is low sub-tier, which means you could still play your higher tier character, but would just the out of tier rewards for the scenarios if you chose to do so. Just wanted to let you know your options!
With all that out of the way, all that remains is for me to say thanks again for joining me, and happy gaming!

Thanks for the invite!
Player: Chadius
Character: Meredith Ulmari
PFS#: 133608-6
XP: 3
PP: 2
Fame: 6
Starting Gold: 554
Day Job: Profession(Farmhand): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
As for my eidolon, Denair:
Denair's Init: 1
Denair's Perception 13
I chose a brighter text color on the Google Docs form, it's kinda hard to read black on dark green.

Thanks for having me! I'm no stranger to PFS or PbP, but I am pretty new to PFS on PbP. Looking forward to it!
PFS #: 76849-6
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Experience: 4
Prestige: 6
Fame: 6
Wealth: 184pp 9gp (I should probably spend some gold)
Day Job: N/A

Thanks for the invite! I can literally play either PC, but if everyone is low tier, I don't want to ruin the fun by having a guy who walks over the challenges. That's not fun!
So if everyone is low-tier as I think they are, I'll play with my boy Jann here, who is creepy enough for high-tier but in a compact low-tier frame!
PFS # 1904-14
Faction: Scarab Sages!
XP: 3
Prestige: 4
Fame: 6
Dayjob: None
Purchase: I'd like to spend 1,000 gp for a Cloak of Resistance +1, please!

Hi Jann! I was the GM in your Twisted Circle scenario a few months ago during Game Day.

Thanks for bringing me in!
PFS # 119796-1
Faction: Sovereign Court
XP: 7
Prestige: 5
Fame: 14
Dayjob: Merchant Caravan Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

GM Mjolbeard |

@Farshaya: Unfortunately Bracers of Armor are not included in the list of items that are always available for purchase, and thus require you to have a Fame of 9 or greater to purchase them. With your current level of Fame, you would be able to purchase items costing up to 500gp or to use 2 Prestige to purchase an item costing up to 750gp. Alternatively, if the bracers are listed on one of the Chronicles you've gained from a previous scenario, they would be available for purchase.
Note: If anyone knows of any rulings that say Bracers of Armor should be considered always available, please speak up. My knowledge of the workings of PFS is far from universal, but the above is my understanding of the rules as set down on pages 19-20 of the the season 8 guide.

PFS # 58328-6
Faction: Grand Lodge
XP: 1
Prestige: 2
Fame: 2
Dayjob: None
Starting gold: I have to check the chronicle plus what I had left over. I might purchase something else once I get my accounting up-to-date
I'll be using 2 pp to buy a wand of cure light wounds.

GM Mjolbeard |

@Sodium: Yeah, I don't think you'd be amiss going with an arcane caster or a skilled character, but as with everything, go with what seems most fun for you!
I'll also let all of you know that this series does have some faction-related objectives available as well. Part 1 has some objectives available for members of the Exchange, while Part 3 has objectives for members of the Grand Lodge. If that changes what character you'd like to enter into the series at all, feel free to change that now, but let's keep the same character for all 3 parts if possible.
Finally, thank you to those of you who have already started some role-play in the gameplay thread! I find that having some warm-up time with your characters really helps set the tone for the adventure, so I'll definitely encourage more of that. I'll also put up a post over there shortly to kinda set the scene a little more clearly for you.

GM Mjolbeard |

Okey dokey! Thanks for the heads up. Before you head out on your trip, could you possibly add a short spoiler in your profile with botting instructions so we know your typical combat tactics and maybe a line or two about how you tend to handle social encounters?
As a matter of fact, it would be great if everyone could do that so you can all bot one another, or I can bot you, if the need arises.
Thanks!

PFS is 20? Have I been shortchanging myself all this time?
Rereads Season 8 Guide
Wow, I've been underpowering all of my PCs. Yes, I've been using a 15 point buy. I have a LOT of character remaking to do.

GM Mjolbeard |

Holy cow! Meredith I totally missed that in our Wounded Wisp game! How the heck did I do that?! Haha!
Thank you, Lai, for catching that! You guys are already stepping up to help your newbie GM, and I appreciate it!
Oh and thanks for the botting info, Willem. That's exactly what I'm looking for.

![]() |

Don't worry about missing it. Turns out I've been underpowering most of my PFS characters.
Meredith will unexpectedly power up, soon.

![]() |

The only issue for me is that Laiashi is also playing in the special-- if it will definitely be done on Thursday then there's no problem, but if there's a few days of overlap I hope that wouldn't be stretching the rules too much...

GM Mjolbeard |

Oh! Crazy teleporting Ifrits! Haha. Yeah, we may need to delay. I'm betting a couple of the rest of you might be in the special right now too, yeah?
I don't mind waiting until the special is definitely actually done. I just wanted to make sure no one lost interest. Haha!

![]() |

Ok, curtains have officially closed on the special. I plan to purchase two masterwork daggers, which I can't afford now but should easily be able to afford with my new Chronicle-- which may take a day or two to get, I can't be sure. So if GM is ok with a few retroactive purchases, I'm ready to go!

GM Mjolbeard |

That'll be fine, Lai. I'll get us started on Monday.
Thanks for hanging around folks!

![]() |

I can't wait.

![]() |

Ready to go. I purchased two masterwork daggers, and a new item I found called concealable thieves' tools (masterwork tools that are easier to hide on your person).

![]() |

Also here's my info, since I never posted it.
PFS #: 89635-10
Faction: The Exchange
XP: 5
Prestige: 7
Fame: 9
Starting gold: 336
Day job: Craft (alchemy) : 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

GM Mjolbeard |

Thank you for that, Lai.
Jann, post if you're able, but no stress. This scenario starts off pretty social, so I'd guess there'll be a lot of discussion going on, and that may eat up the better part of the week.
We'll get started in a few hours here folks. It's been a busy morning, but I should at least be able to put up our initial post for the game soon.

![]() |

I'm on a business trip today, so my apologies if Meredith and Denair are super quiet.

![]() |

Hi all. Hope everyone has had a good week. I'm just checking in to let you know I'm back from my trip. It will still take me a couple of days to get back into the swing of things (one of my games had nearly two hundred posts while I was gone). I'm actually relieved we haven't moved so quickly! Unfortunately it's a busy work week as well because I'm now playing catch up. I'll work on getting a post in by tonight or tomorrow.

![]() |

I'm purchasing a used wand of endure elements from this Chronicle. for 420 gp.

GM Mjolbeard |

Hey folks. Working on getting a post up for you soon. Been a hectic week. We're moving along pretty well overall though.

![]() |

As a reminder, the Summoner's eidolon is banished immediately if the summoner is unconscious, asleep, or killed.

GM Mjolbeard |

Oh man! Denair's stealth check was so close! I ruled that you had a +5 to your stealth because the kobolds were so distracted, so when you rolled a 19, it meant they needed a 24 on Perception, which they could only do with nat 20....then two of them rolled nat 20s! Crazy!

![]() |

Stealth is a weird skill. You're only as sneaky as your weakest roll. Or their strongest, I guess. I usually don't do Stealth for this reason, but then I made a character with +13 at level 2. It was worth a shot!

GM Mjolbeard |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I'm gonna go ahead and bot Saritirnen. He mentioned in another game we're a part of that he'll be on vacation this weekend and will probably only be able to post in the evenings. Since he's up first this round, I'll get this one out of the way, and we can carry on from there with everyone else's turns.

![]() |

I finally drew Meredith and Denair.
The apple cart turned over.

GM Mjolbeard |

Nice!
Sorry for the delay of game, folks! It's been a crazy crazy week. Started a new job on Monday and my wife and I are in the midst of finding a house to rent. Things should be a bit calmer the rest of the week, but I'll still be limited to posting before and after work. Haven't really found a good time to post while I'm there yet.
