Hi everyone, this will be the discussion thread for this game of the Wounded Wisp. Feel free to post a short ooc introduction of who you'll be playing, and anything you would like your teammates to know about them. If you can also post your character's PFS number and day job roll, that will make it easier for me to find all the information to write up the chronicles when we're done. Also, please indicate if you've played the confirmation, since there may be some callbacks to that as part of this adventure.
I'm going to go ahead and get the gameplay thread set up, and everyone can do in-character introductions and preliminary roleplaying with each other when they're ready. I'll be looking to probably kick things off Tuesday or Wednesday, once everyone's had a chance to get a post or two in.

just FYI, I did a rewrite for some character options before starting my new lvl 2 character. Big purchases include a wand of CLW (2pp), a cracked mulberry pentacle ioun stone (400gp), and a wayfinder (250gp). I've documented all purchases in a transaction register if you need to peruse.

Hey, question - this is my first formal PBP in a loooong time and it looks like there's some handy updates to the system - where do I put my vitals like Giovanni and Vinny have (underneath their posting name) for that information to show up?

GM 7thGate |

You can put that in the "Race" section of your character's profile. Whatever is placed in that box shows up under your character name when you make a post, so people commonly use it for information that needs to be easily accessible during play.

Nice! Thanks for the pointer.
So:
Player: John Curtin
Character: L.B.
PFS# 14945-17
Faction: The Exchange
No Day job.
L.B. is a ranged damage dealer and discount rogue - good skills, using crossbow to hit. No Precise Shot yet, so will focus on enemies not in combat for now to try to take them down before they join the fray, or on the ranged attackers.

And it begins! Got the first real post up to kick things off. I added a link to slides in the short campaign description at the top, where I'll add handouts, pictures and other information. Once we're in combat or places where you could have combat, I'll add a link to a separate slide with a local map of where you are.
Jan, can you get your character sheet linked or written up in your profile? Let me know if you need help getting that set up, but we'll want it easily accessible.

Hey, sorry everyone, I didn't see there was stuff going on in the discussion!
Vinny has played the confirmation before. She likes blowing things up, and getting paid...and coffee. ;)
Day Job, Florist: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Jan and Pollock, I know both of you are relatively new to pathfinder and PbP. I wanted to link DH's Guide to Play By Post. Not all of it is necessarily relevant for pathfinder society PBP (I feel like the getting picked section is geared a little more towards the adventure path recruitments, for example, which tend to be fairly competitive), but I found it to be generally helpful advice.
I also wanted to link to the combat section of the PRD, in case you would like to brush up on the specific rules for pathfinder combat: Combat
Jan, I still need you to get your character sheet linked to your profile, since we're going to be entering situations where you will need to make checks shortly, and we'll need your stats easily accessible.

Working through a few issues with getting Jan's character sheet set up offline. Once we get it resolved, I'll get our first encounter started. Just wanted to check in to keep everyone up to date.

I do not know how closely we are tracking combat, but I want to make sure I understand the rules. I would like to have Jan take a step back (a five foot step), draw a dagger (a move action), pick up the first knicknack on the desk (another move action). Do these move actions count as "movement" for the purposes of disallowing a 5 foot step?

what class are you playing?

Draw or Sheathe a Weapon
Drawing a weapon so that you can use it in combat, or putting it away so that you have a free hand, requires a move action. This action also applies to weapon-like objects carried in easy reach, such as wands. If your weapon or weapon-like object is stored in a pack or otherwise out of easy reach, treat this action as retrieving a stored item.If you have a base attack bonus of +1 or higher, you may draw a weapon as a free action combined with a regular move. If you have the Two-Weapon Fighting feat, you can draw two light or one-handed weapons in the time it would normally take you to draw one.
Here's a relevant section. If you had a +1 BAB, you could draw with your move.
Take 5-Foot Step
You can move 5 feet in any round when you don’t perform any other kind of movement. Taking this 5-foot step never provokes an attack of opportunity. You can’t take more than one 5-foot step in a round, and you can’t take a 5-foot step in the same round that you move any distance. You can take a 5-foot step before, during, or after your other actions in the round.
also, if you move can't also 5-foot step.

GM 7thGate |

Move actions used for something other than movement do not prevent you from taking a 5 ft step. You may take your 5 ft step unless you do something else that actually causes you to move to a different square during your turn. You can do what you described with your turn.

Hey all,
I'll be vacationing with the family Wednesday through Monday for Fall Break in Chicago and surrounding areas.
The itinerary makes it look like I'll have little time to post. Feel free to bot me!

GM 7thGate |

Apologies for not getting a post up before now. I had some troubles with the site over the weekend, and I seem to have come down with a nasty cold today. I will get the transition to the mausoleum up some time tomorrow afternoon.

GM 7thGate |

Alright Jello, hope everything is ok. I'll bot L.B. as necessary going forward until you're free up for posting again.
I'll get a post up tomorrow moving things along, unless there is more you want to do in the mausoleum.

Hi, GM. Wondering about chronicle sheets. I'm looking to get Giovanni back into a scenario and would like to spend some of that gold :)

GM 7thGate |

Ok, I think I got the event reported and the chronicle sheets done. Giovanni, Nixim, I entered your character number as autofilled by the reporting software; it had both of you as off by 1. Let me know if you need it redone with the number you provided in discussion.
I did the PDF editing on dochub; I believe you should be able to use these share links to access the files, but let me know if there are any issues.
Giovanni's Chronicle
Nixim's Chronicle
Vincenza's Chronicle
Pollock's Chronicle
L.B.'s Chronicle
Jan's Chronicle

Thank you everyone for playing in my game! I am glad you had a good time.
I am not running Race for the Runcarved Key, at least not now. I'm probably going to break from GMing until the new year, then decide how much time I want to commit to PbP from there.
