Edward checks the charge on his laser rifle and takes up an overwatch position, allowing for the sneaky, findy, open-y members of the team to better investigate.
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14 perception (mostly scanning for movement and sounds of movement).
As Marcel starts to sneak away he steps in the puddle of molerat blood and leaves a trail for you guys to follow. Even Edward can see him. Shame Marcel. Shame.
Edward can see that even though the paint has faded, most of the signs are still legible. I wonder who the King of Burgers was...
After opening the door, the steps leading down have metal walls, more than likely lead-lined for radiation. The door itself is also pretty heavy as well.
Just a few feet down there is a terminal on the left side of the tunnel. The tunnel splits off into three directions: straight, left, and right.
Looks like there's a few things on the screen that peak your interest. You've got directions, a few notes for the management, and another password protected section. Wonder what's in there?
Knowledge Engie to try to crack it. Your first roll didn't lower the next DC, but it didn't raise it either.
I dig through the non-password protected stuff first. I'd like to see where the directions are to, and perhaps get those on my pop boy if possible. Notes for management, I'll skim those for anything of interest (like in F3 where they tell you of a door that isnt working, usually has something good behind it, etc).
As for the password-protected section, eng:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
6/8/2033 Josh, the roaches down here are starting to get bigger. I swear, I saw one that was at least a foot long!
Rob, seriously, don't freak me out. You know I just started, and I'm not ready for that kind of joke.
6/12/2033 Rob, if this is some kind of sick joke or hazing thing I'm not surprised. I saw that "foot long roach" you were talking about, but it didn't look real enough for me to care. Another one of these and I'm reporting it to management.
Josh, I'm not kidding, that wasn't me. I'm a mechanic, not a joker. Seriously, I think there might be a radiation leak or something. I'll bring it up with management myself, something's wrong.

It looks like a lot of technical jibber jabber that makes little sense, even to Scab. There's two parts he recognizes though: one involving remote control of some kind of self defense system, and one of some kind of gas vent system.
Scab types away, his hands a blur on the keypad. A few beeps and pops here and there let the rest of you know that he's doing pretty good on the keypad.
I try to make sure the gas being vented is either safe for us or vented away from us/vent shut off. Same with the defense system (either friendly to us or turned off).

"Wait." Marcel bends over and inspects the droppings Annabel points out, and the radroaches. He backs up, cautiously. "There is something else in here, something big... any idea what type of gas can be vented? It may be best to clear hostile out before we go in..."
now that he mentions it i think it was a nuclear train engine. i dont know myself if a fire will do anything adverse to a nuclear engine of sorts, particularly a currently inoperable one that may or may not have been shielded from the elements.
Science, because sometimes Engineering doesn't cut it:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 Apparently, I missed a level up. I'm still level 2... at the top of the screen. Man, I should update that better.
Crispy, you're a jerk. A funny jerk. You find a cap on the ground.
Just a reminder, the engine you're looking for is nuclear, and John Henry wants it in working order. It doesn't matter if it's in working order now as long as it can be repaired.
You guys aren't in the gas area now. If you were standing in it, more than likely it would kill you if you ignited it. The train would be fine since it is designed to withstand such high heat.
"Eh, pretty sure the train will be fine. So will we, as long as we are out of the gas. That isn't to say we couldn't go down there, but I don't have a way to breathe in that gas."
Scab looks around to see if there is a stash of gas masks for just such an event.
"So how much you want to bet one of our explosives will ignite the fire from..." Crispy takes a few steps back, holds his hands up, then steps backwards one more time, finishing his sentence with a resounding "here."
"Explosions and contained flammable gad underground? That seems like a recipe for overpressure disaster. Have you ever heard of a two-stage thermobaric device? A brutally effective weapon, especially in enclosed environments"
"I don't think I grabbed any long fuse dynamite, but I think I can modify some of our existing sticks to make one with a REALLY long fuse... we just can't use the others till we restock... Crispy say while exaggerating with his hands how long of a fuse that will be created.
