Ai'sha
"Ugh, that thing just wouldn't die no matter how much I slashed it. I think this sword is broken! I wanna buy a new one, how much money we have?"
Irakelesh
Irakelesh gently takes her hand and bends to kiss it gently. My companions are so very direct and to the point. But yes, we are trying to find out about a creature like she described. You seem too lovely to know about such terrible things. But sometimes the prettiest ones are the smartest ones."
Fitliss Phitzinger
I just built off of Aliva, but I’m pretty sure those responses were all intended for the sage we found, not some random girl Irakelesh wanted an excuse to flirt with :p
Fitliss Phitzinger
I think she assumed that the girl led us to a sage and was starting that conversation.
Also, Irakelesh, Fitliss has an active life link with you, so he has absorbed all of the damage you took during that fight.
GM Pendrak
"You're right, I do know little of such creatures, though I believe what you describe is a doru, one of the divs. A monster from children's stories and legends. Wicked creatures that fear cold iron, it is said," says the woman.
Irakelesh
"Cold iron? You mean like weapons made of that stuff?" Irakelesh raises his eyebrows at his companions with a smile. Irakelesh lets go of her hand gently. "As I knew right from the start, pretty and smart. You see, we are on a quest to destroy one of these doru creatures. Very brave. Do you happen to know where we might be able to find a cold iron weapon?"
GM Pendrak
"The Sunburst Market is the place to find anything, in this city." she says, blushing. "I wish you luck on your quest."
You'll be able to find cold iron versions of any simple or martial weapon at the market.
Fitliss Phitzinger
”Cold iron?” Fitliss asks, suddenly hesitant. ”I’ll pass, thanks,” he says, somewhat nervously.
I don’t think anyone spent much of our reward for the last tomb, we should have plenty enough to buy cold iron weaponry.
G'nock
|
G'nock ceases his woolgathering, This is welcome news; I began to doubt my skill with a bow. I would welcome some of arrows of that sort. Let's see if we can find some.
Fitliss Phitzinger
”You guys go right ahead, I’ll be over here,” Fitliss says, still clearly uncomfortable, as he walks away to a nearby stall still within sight of the one selling cold iron weaponry.
GM Pendrak
Pharasma's Seekers find all manner of cold iron weapons at the stall. The merchant, an elderly, one-eyed Ulfen man with bright red hair, claims that many of the weapons came from the hoard of Hulkatrax the Vain, a red dragon that was slain by a band of adventurers in Southmoor last year. He also sells a few other items, as his sister back in Jol dabbles in alchemy. He tells you he'll only be in town for a few more days.

”It’s nothing,” he calls over his shoulder. ”I’ll be back in a few minutes.” With that, he hobbles into the crowd and disappears.
He’s going to go make more friends, but I’m guessing that will be hampered by time constraints since shopping shouldn’t take long. If he thinks it will just take a few minutes, Fitliss just goes to chat with a nearby stall owner. If it’s more than fifteen minutes, he wanders the crowd.
Diplomacy (Gather information (general rumors/gossip)): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
And on Aliva’s statement, I should probably just point it out in case people hadn’t noticed. Fitliss takes extra damage from cold iron due to his first level feat.
Irakelesh
"Hey guys! Come look at this." Irakelesh picks up a fancy looking morningstar. A wooden placard near the weapon indicates that it is made with cold iron. Irakelesh hefts it by the handle to test the balance. "This feels great. I want one!"
Irakelesh watches Fitliss walk off and shrugs. "I guess he's not interested in this nice weapon."
16 gp, right? I don't see a mwk one here or I'd look at that.
Irakelesh
If I'm reading the rules correctly, using the blanch takes a full round to apply to a weapon and then it only lasts for one successful attack. It costs 20 gp for a cold iron blanch that will give us 10 uses. Or for 16 gp I can get a cold iron morningstar that lasts forever. I'm not trying to be dense but I don't understand why it is a waste of gp to spend 16 on a weapon but not a waste to spend 20 gp on a blanch that only works 10 times.
G'nock
|
Irakelesh, IIRC, you have cold iron arrows as well, no? How many? Guessing it isn't worth buying those, if you'll share with G'nock but the mace seems like a good idea.
Fitliss Phitzinger
So are we buying the blanch or weapons? My vote is for weapons. In this scenario, blanch could be more useful, but in the future, I’d rather (everyone else, since Fitliss won’t touch one) be able to pull a cold iron weapon than be passing around weapon blanch in the middle of a fight.
Ai'sha
I'm voting blanche. Between Ai'sha's scimitar and two morningstars for Aliva and Irakelesh we'd be paying 62 gp instead of 20, or more if G'nock gets a weapon too. From an in-game perspective I feel like Ai'sha would take the cheaper option as well.
GM Pendrak
Yeah, you guys can get either masterwork cold iron or regular cold iron weapons.
Aliva Kulthane
"I would like to buy some blanche, as much as I am attached to this weapon all break and wear over time." Aliva says to the merchant once she has her item Aliva will head out to find Fitliss. "Once the others have made their purchases we should head back as fast as possible to get through the mansion."
Fitliss Phitzinger
”Oh, hello Aliva, time to go?” Fitliss says, taking his leave from his conversation to follow her back to the others.
Fitliss Phitzinger
”No,” he says casually, walking back to the others with her. ”I don’t really need anything right now.”
Irakelesh
Yep, let's give the blanche a try.
Irakelesh chats with the market owner's daughter while Aliva negotiates the purchase of the blanche. When the group starts walking back to the mansion he steps up next to Aliva, keeping stride with her. "So, how does this thing work? We just pour it on our blades or what? And how long does it last?"
Irakelesh
"Hmm. Ok. Well let's get this doru thing taken care of." Irakelesh looks around the street that they've been walking on for a while. "We should be getting close to the mansion."
Ai'sha
"I've heard applying those things to weapons takes some time, we should propably do it now so we don't waste time in battle.", Ai'sha says, applying the blanche to her scimitar.
G'nock
|
G'nock appears from behind, breathing a little heavily, 6 new arrows shifting slightly in the quiver on his hip, joining the others. "I believe we are now ready now for that beast"
I really have lost track of money at this point ... happy to retcon if this is unreasonable
Irakelesh
"Sounds good to me. Maybe I should get some of that blanch as well. But I'm going to put it on my arrows." When the group gets back to the mansion Irakelesh stops in the lower entrance way and takes a few minutes to apply the blanch he purchased to ten arrows.
Fitliss Phitzinger
”I’ll stand in front!” Fitliss volunteers instantly, despite the fact that his spear makes him ill-suited to the task. When offered the blanch, he is clearly uncomfortable, but nevertheless applies it, careful to get none on himself.
GM Pendrak
The group, having armed themselves against the threat of the doru div, crosses into the necropolis without an issue, returns to the mansion, and makes their way back upstairs. They move up to the room, and as soon as Fitliss leads the way inside, the angry creature's disembodied voice rises up once more:
"You again? You fools have returned? You will regret this decision."
The creature is invisible, but is clearly a threat.
Ai'sha: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Aliva: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Fitliss: 1d20 ⇒ 17
G'nock: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Advanced Doru Div: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Ai'sha, G'nock, Fitliss, and Irakelesh can act. The map should be updated.
Aliva Kulthane
"Can someone make it visible?" Aliva asks, a quick wave of her hand allows a spell to be cast as divine light move around Aliva. Fervor to swift fast Divine Favor Atk/Dmg +1
If she can attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 181d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Irakelesh
Irakelesh nocks one of the blanched arrows and points in the direction of the sound but he holds onto the string waiting until the creature actually appears. "Yeah, if someone can make it so I can actually see the thing, I'd attack it."
Readied action to fire as soon as the creature becomes visible
Ai'sha
"Whats the matter? Are you afraid?", Ai'sha taunts, readying to strike the creature when it comes in range.
Readied Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
