Ai'sha
Ai'sha pushes Irakelesh back.
"We had our own bit of fun, thank you.", she says. "There was a two-headed dog outside, and I think his bite made me sick...", she looks worried at her bite wound.
"We should probably finish exploring this before i turn into a zombie..."
Fitliss Phitzinger
”You think it made you sick!?” Fitliss asks, concern evident in its voice. ”Do we know what it was? I might be able to treat it, depending on what cuased it, but that is a big might.”
It was either Pendrak or Aliva, I’m pretty sure.
DM Hunger
Irakelesh, using your skills, you are certain that she has not been poisoned. That said, you see the bite marks are red and puffy, indicating that she's contracted some kind of disease
The doorway east leads to a small room containing several beds and a rough stone table. Given its location, this appears to be some kind of sleeping quarters and living quarters for household servants.
Search: nothing but dust and sand
Irakelesh
Irakelesh inspects the bite wound carefully. "The good news is that you're not poisoned. But, the bad news is that you have got some sort of disease." For once, Irakelesh is serious. "We'll need to get this taken care of soon."
Any knowledge I can roll to try to id the disease?
Fitliss Phitzinger
Fitliss grins sheepishly. ”I grew up rather solitary, and I’ve always been able to heal myself. I never did have a need to learn the mundane healing arts. My normal healing magic won’t do much, but if the disease is supernatural in nature I might be able to do something.”
Ai'sha
"Its nothing, I should be fine for now, when we leave we can try the church or something...Maybe we should head back to the courtyard, that dog could be guarding something.", she heads to the building once again, stoping if someone suggests something else or no one follows. Going to B6
Irakelesh
"Hey Ai'sha! We should stick together. Remember?" Irakelesh catches up with the redhead as she moves outside. "Now. What is it you guys ran into out here?" Irakelesh stops up short when he sees the body of the dog they fought. "Now that's interesting. Don't see one of those everyday."
DM Hunger
The disease is specific to the death dog, so Knowledge (arcana) would be your best bet.
It's nearly impossible to tell what this building used to be - the dirt and debris piled up in the corners points to any number of possibilities. The stench, however, is overwhelming. It's very easy to see where the death dog spent it's time, the area is black with dirt and grease, and what appear to be hundreds of maggots writhe in the creature's leavings.
Fitliss Phitzinger
”Is this where that dog creature lived?” Fitliss queries, poking around the room with a long stick enthusiatically.
Irakelesh
"Uhg. Me neither." Despite the smell, Irakelesh steps closer to the pile. He peers around, without touching anything, to see if there is something of interest.
Knowledge(arcana): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 For the disease
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 For the looking around
DM Hunger
Unfortunately, you don't see anything of interest.
Staying in this part of the courtyard to explore, or going back inside?
Irakelesh
"Aha!" Irakelesh exclaims. "I do remember something about this thing." Then his face darkens. "Oh. Ai'sha. We need to get you healed right away. This thing bit you, right? When it bit you, it injected hundreds of these maggot eggs into your body. It might take a day before you notice but then those eggs are going to hatch and the stupid worms are going to drain your life!"
Irakelesh looks at the others urgently. "When we go back into the city, we'll have to buy a potion to cure this."
DM Hunger
After exploring the lair of the death dog, the group moves north to find a smaller building that has also been ravaged by time and sand. Nothing more than shattered pottery and debris remain inside.
The next building (B8 on the map) contains skeletal remains of three humanoids. The bones have been blasted clean by scouring sand, and they lay in loose piles against the walls. After watching cautiously for several minutes, you determine these are simply remains, not undead lying in wait.
The next building is a small granary with a domed roof and a small door. As you get close to the building you hear a strange noise from behind the door. It sounds like some kind of rustling or movement.
DM Hunger
Aliva waits for everyone to get ready, then pulls the door open. The smell of offal and dung is nearly overpowering. More importantly, you all discover what was making the strange noise.
The rustling becomes a roar as a massive swarm of scarab beetles flies out of the granary. They settle upon Aliva and begin attempting to devour her alive. 2 points of damage, and a Fort save please
OOC: The swarm is 5'x5' and these beetles are fine creatures, so weapons won't work against them. Also, please note they cause distraction, which imposes a caster level check to cast spells, or a Will save to do anything requiring patience or diligence.
1d6 ⇒ 2
Aliva Kulthane
Aliva has The Scarab ShieldThe swarm needs to make a DC 11 will save or avoid me for 3 round
Fitliss Phitzinger
Fitliss eyes the beetles. ”Yeah, I can’t do anything to those. Sorry guys!” he declares, sounding not at all as upset about that fact as he ought.
Aliva Kulthane
Aliva backs out of the swarm, spitting out dead beetles that she killed with her teeth.
"I thought we would be done with swarms."
12/15 HP
I guess she will just try to keep them distracted while the others flame them.
G'nock
|
G'nock lunges forward and begins snapping and clawing at the swarm, his eyes watering in expectation of the taste:
Is this even valid against a swarm?
bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Irakelesh
Irakelesh starts swiping the beetles off of his legs but they still manage to bite through his clothes. "Owwww!" he shouts at them. "Ok guys. Some help here!"
Fort save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Fitliss Phitzinger
Fitliss actually giggles as Irakelesh’s wounds fade, only to appear on his own dimuntive frame. ”Hey, that tickles!” he laughs, barely able to light his torch he is shaking so much.
Ai'sha
Ai'sha steps foward, charges her weapon with magic and strikes.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 confirm?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage(Arcane Strike, Flame of Dawnflower): 2d6 + 6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 + 2 + 2 = 16
The swarm takes the fire damage at least, right?
Fitliss Phitzinger
The way it works is that I transfer 5 points of damage from every bonded creature to myself. You take the full damage with all effects, and afterwards I siphon just the damage off.

Realizing that his efforts thus far haven't diminished the swarm, G'nock backs sheepishly away Eeeuch! What have these things been eating??
