Yes, Find The Path. I saw a flyer at PaizoCon this year and thought I'd give it a listen. I like it so far. I'm impressed with the GM. He never pauses to look something up and he always seems to be able to provide a room description immediately. When I'm GMing IRL I am always looking things up which makes big pauses in the game. The GM in Find The Path is inspiring me to up my game.
GM, doing 1 book per year is great. I am in 5 PbP APs right now. Here's the pacing (months per book):
Rise of the Runelords Book 0.75 15 months 20 months per book
Reign of Winter Book 2.0 25 months 12.5 months per book
Mummy's Mask Book 1.0 34 months 34 months per book
Giant Slayer Book 2.5 33 months 13.2 months per book
War for the Crown Book 0.5 4.5 months 9 months per book
So if you are leading us to complete books at a 12 month pace, that is way better than the average I'm experiencing now.
BTW, in one of my other games a player said that when he GM's PbP APs he completes each book in about 4.5 months! I can't imagine being that fast in PbP.

I can generally post a bit more than once a day if that works. I use the Block initiative as well when GMing since it make the most sense and keeps combat flowing much better
So we hand those living off to the Voices of the spire and then sell our loot then part ways? I know there is 5 more books but in character Aliva would feel like this is the end as I assume most of you would as well. Irakelesh and Ai'Sha are you from Watti?
Irakelesh |
I came to Watti with the express purpose of investigating the tombs. Since the rules were that we get to explore 3 (and this was our 3rd one, right?) then I guess, in character, I would think that our time is over.
But I'm social. I'll want to try to hang out with you all as much as possible before we all head our separate ways.
I also can generally post more than once per day.
Haji Hamidi Musaraji |
I can post several times per day.
As long as the place has booze to drown dark memories, Haji isn't eager to move on.
Haji Hamidi Musaraji |

Khufukhaf |
I don't have all of the details for khufu's level up with me
he'll take a level of sorcerer and get second level spells - thinking scorching ray
that's the biggest impact
Irakelesh |
I updated my profile. Added blur to my spell book as a free spell. Would really like to copy stuff out of the spellbooks from the casters before we get rid of them. And then also buy some scrolls to copy.
But that's coming up.
I'll try to post later today with copying the spells from the books. I don't remember the rules so I'll have to look that up when I have some time (here at work).

I've updated the loot sheet linked at the top of this group. I added Haji and Khufu. I also fixed some of the cell formulas that looked like they were stale.
So now we just need to add all of the stuff into it. I'll start but I probably won't be able to finish now. Everyone else can add to it too.
We've had some good momentum for the last couple weeks and I'd like to keep that going.
G'nock |
Haven't finished leveling up yet; I'll try before end of week ... things have gotten a bit busy at work. Sorry for the delay.
Haji Hamidi Musaraji |
Do we get 4 times 2 Background skills? or two starting this level?
Irakelesh |
I've updated the loot sheet with all of the items from the last encounter. I didn't go any further back than that.
I think we need to do a couple things before moving on.
1) We need to divide up any stuff from this last encounter
2) We need to figure out what treasure we found in the temple
3) We need to sell everything and split the gp
For #1, I think that we should each put a "1" in the column (in the loot sheet) associated with us for each item that we want. The stuff that no one wants we will sell in step #3.
On a different note, I'd like to keep the spellbooks until I have enough time to copy the spells from them into my formulary book. Does anyone else want to copy them too? Does anyone else have a need to copy spells?
Irakelesh |
What do you mean by the "roll is higher"?
I marked the spellbooks for me in the loot sheet. Haji has added a couple things but no one else has.
Is everyone just being polite?
Ai'sha |
Yeah, whenever the party has to divvy up the loot the game stalls because no one wants to be greedy and take too much stuff. Happens in every game I played ever.
If no one minds, here are my thoughts:
- Potion of CLW: Anyone, I'd say Haji because he gets extra healing.
- Potion of Hide from Undead: Anyone.
- Scroll of Burning Hands: Khuf is the only one who can use it.
- Scroll of Identify: I don't think we need it, two people in the Party have max ranks in Spellcraft.
- Scroll of Levitate: Khuf and Irakelesh can use it.
- Scroll of Magic Missile: Khuf is the only one who can use it.
- Scroll of Shocking Grasp: Khuf is the only one who can use it, though he probably doesn't want to be close enough to be able to, so we could sell it.
- Wand of Grease: Ai'sha already knows Grease, so Khuf would be the candidate.
- Wand of Vanish: 1 round of invisibility seems pretty underwhelming, we should sell it? (Khuf and Ai'sha can use it)
- Alchemist Fire (x4): Everyone who doesn't have an area spell should probably have one or two of those, just in case we're attacked by another swarm.
- +1 Leather Armor: Sell it.
- Scroll of Bless (x2): One for Aliva, one for Haji.
- Scroll of CLW: Ai'sha, Aliva and Haji can use it.
- Scroll of Effortless Armor: Haji can cast it and benefits from it.
- Scroll of Hold Person: Haji, Aliva, Ai'sha or Khuf, i'd say Khuf.
- Scroll of Sound Burst: Aliva or Ai'sha, I'd say Aliva.
- Wand of CLW (26c): Aliva. Ai'sha already has a wand.
- Alluring Golden Apple: Anyone, or sell.
- Scroll of Charm Person: I think we should sell it, Ai'sha already knows the spell and casts it at a higher DC.
- Scroll of Invisibility: Khuf or Ai'sha can use it.
- Scroll of Warding Weapon: Literally useless, sell it.
- Wand of Scorching Ray (1c): Khuf.
Also, if we're taking the consumables rather than selling them, we should make a point of trying to use'em as soon as possible. Too many campaigns end with the party having a hundred consumables that never get used because everyone is waiting for the perfect time.
Aliva Kulthane |
That sounds good to me, I was in another game where a different PC was asking why I was using the consumables so much.
I haven't ever Played Monte Cook Games Numenera but I have read the book and they are all about using the consumables. It makes sense since as Ai'Sha is saying that they quickly become utterly useless
GM Dak |
Not to tell you how to run loot as it is up to you all but here is how I handle it when I’m a player.
First anything that might benefit anyone in the group that no one specifically claims, like consumables, I set aside to a party share. Then, just as you’ve done I let people claim what they want. However I put a deadline on it, say two days. After which point I sell anything unclaimed and dive out the gold. Keeps things from stalling and haven’t had any complaints thus far.
Again, you all do it how you want, but that is what has worked best for me in PbP games where I’m a player.
Irakelesh |
I like Ai'sha's list too. I've finalized it a bit. Everyone good with this?
- Potion of CLW: Haji
- Potion of Hide from Undead: G'nock
- Scroll of Burning Hands: Khuf
- Scroll of Identify: Sell
- Scroll of Levitate: Khuf
- Scroll of Magic Missile: Khuf
- Scroll of Shocking Grasp: Sell
- Wand of Grease: Khuf
- Wand of Vanish: Sell
- Alchemist Fire (x4): G'nock, Khuf, Ai'sha, Haji
- +1 Leather Armor: Sell
- Scroll of Bless (x2): Aliva, Haji
- Scroll of CLW: Aliva
- Scroll of Effortless Armor: Haji
- Scroll of Hold Person: Khuf
- Scroll of Sound Burst: Aliva
- Wand of CLW (26c): Aliva
- Alluring Golden Apple: Sell
- Scroll of Charm Person: Sell
- Scroll of Invisibility: Khuf
- Scroll of Warding Weapon: Sell
- Wand of Scorching Ray (1c): Khuf
- Spellbooks: Irakelesh
- mwk thieve's tools: Irakelesh
- holy water: Aliva
- Everything else: Sell
Can we finalize this in the next 48 hours? If anyone needs more time to think about it, just post saying you need more time.
BTW, did we find any artifacts worth keeping in the temple? Wasn't there a mask in one of the sarcophagi?
GM Dak |
So I don't know if you kept anything from your previous sites but any items that have historical relevance (ie they have ancient osirian writing, drawings, are from that time period, etc and aren't just older versions of items you would still commonly find today, are things you could put up for auction.
Essentially all of those kind of things sell at at a 25% premium. You'll have the opportunity to convince others to try and bid on your items to further increase the premium.
Ai'sha |
If we sell everything marked as "sell" we'll make 1770 gp, that's 295 gp per person.
I didn't know the price of the following items so they were not added to the value above:
- small steel mirror
- signet ring
Also Ai'sha decided to keep the Flask of Holy Water.
I think we found more stuff than what's in the list but don't remember.
Irakelesh |
Sorry to do this to everyone but I'm going to be slightly delayed for the next day or two (or three). It's crunch time here at work. We have a serious deadline this week.
I'll try to squeeze in a post or two but I can't guarantee it.
Ai'sha, as for the gear, I keep thinking we found some artifacts but I can't find them in the postings. Maybe someone else will have better luck.
Ai'sha |
Just a heads up, my mother is undergoing a surgery soon and I'll be taking care of her as she recuperates, which will take about one or two weeks. I have no idea if I'll be able to post during that time.
GM Dak |
Posting this to all my games, so apologies if you see it in multiple places :).
Sorry for the delay everyone, my wife was in a pretty serious car accident Tues. She is luckily ok, but have been dealing with the aftermath of that the last couple days and have just been a bit mentally exhausted. Things are mostly cleared up now and I should be good to get back into things again.
AinvarG |
Lurker here - I've been in your wife's shoes. Even when you walk away, like I did, you can hurt for quite a while. And it can get in your head - one of my passengers still has anxiety when the anniversary gets close.
Glad she's OK, but don't be surprised if she needs you around more than usual for a while. I guess that's what I'm trying to say.
Peace.
