As lump successfully retreats, Grobly will also make his withdrawal, using the brush and cliff face behind him to his advantage as he attempts to circle back around to the group.

Lump also heads back to the group cautiously, ready to be rid of these giants.

Lump and Grobly make it back to the group successfully. Your stealth skills and distance, and noise by the giants basically ensure success. Once back at the group, it is a waiting game.

GM Roll: 1d6 ⇒ 5
GM Roll: 1d6 ⇒ 4

The two giants remain sleeping for a while yet, almost an hour passes during which the remaining giant busies himself with various inane activities. He eats, disappears into the bushes to relieve himself and returns to the fire. He takes a few swigs from the waterskin and eats more of the charred goat meat, crunching bones and gristle.

Hill Giant Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

He looks at the skin funny, as if notices the odd taste. He looks inside the skin but as one may predict he can't really see into the dark skin, and the laxative added pretty much dissolved or coated the sides, so he notices nothing. He grows bored after a bit, and then gets a strange look on his face, holds his hands over his stomach and scrunches up his face.

GM Roll: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Hill Giant Fort Save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14

The giant stands and stumbles awkwardly toward the brush. He looks pale if that is possible considering the filth and sunburnt skin. he doesn't make it to the bushes in time and you hear and see the results of your laxative potion on the giant. You are happy you cannot smell it.

"we should look to do what we want soon." Grobly whispers. "maybe we follow that one when he goes to clean himself? If he does so.." Grobly adds as an afterthought.

"We should strike now, either trying to coup de grace the sleepers while giant McPoopypants deals with his brown-trousers, or we take down the awake one. We can also wait for the others to wake and drink and get sick, but I don't know if we would have a better chance until they went to sleep. I wonder when they will leave this site. It doesn't seem like they will stay long. If we do attack now, we need a few moments to cast some battle spells."

Even if they survive the coup de grace damage, I can't imagine them making the fort save.

My plan for battle:
Mage armor from Taya
Shield extract
Expeditious Retreat extract
Long Arm extract
Mutagen enabled
Lead blades spell
Primal Transformation - tentacles
Tumor for protection
Stance of Aggression
Cheetah's sprint if needed
Summon Nature's Ally for flank if needed
Maneuvers as the situation requires

I would need about 6-7 rounds to get spells ready.

"I think we should target the sleepers and kill them while they sleep. Attacking the awake one could result in the sleepers joining before he is dead."

Grobbly is looking to prepare with:
Enlarge person extract
Expiditious retreat extract
Mutagen

Any other buffs the others can share.

Grossly makes it clear to Bazzt to stay out of range of the Giants attacks. Vast will take to the air and keep an eye on the awake giant.

I can do I think about 11d6+20 on a crit for coup de grace, for a single attack. We should figure out who can do the most damage. Those two should deliver the coup de graces. If they survive, they would wake after those attacks and be flat footed, so we won't be at a total loss. We might get a surprise round yet. I don't know how that works.

The group spends a quick half minute getting their spells in order, and then forms up trying to be stealthy. You will probably manage to get through the brush ok, but once in the open keeping your entire gang from being noticed by the giant may be a challenge.

Ok, the group moves into position stealthily. You get there unnoticed while the awake giant is voiding his bowels. This isn't something that would take forever though. You had to cover 120' at 30'/round (half speed stealth), so it takes you 4 rounds to get into place, after the rounds casting your spells. Please take that into account for order of spell casting and remaining durations. All total we will say 11 rounds, a little over a minute, the giant has been 'distracted'.

I think the plan was to have both Karkoran and Grobly do the coup de graces. I will apply damage, make their fort saves and if they still live, everyone will still get a surprise round. The giants would awake if they live, probably with a scream, and the other giant may notice. Grobly and Karkoran do your attacks. Grobly's effects breakdown works very well, I would appreciate everyone doing something similar if possible.

Grobly charges the giant, inspired by the song. His short legs take him swiftly across the field, augmented by magic. His huge maw, even larger when enlarged, opens midair as he launches himself at the creature. It locks on to the giant's neck, in similar fashion to the first one he bit. You hear a savage tearing as blood flies, and Grobly comes away with a chunk of meat in his mouth. The giant reels in pain staggering around.

Round 1
Lump moves up and inspires the slaughter to continue.

Asheranthi and her raptors surround the giant. She slashes out with a claw, raking the giant, leaving a huge gash. Going for blood she sinks her teeth in deep and bites hard and the giant blubbers in misery. His thick hide takes the brunt of the other blows and her other claw, tail and hair fail to find traction. (no grab/constrict).

The velociraptors strike for the kill ripping and rending with talons and teeth. The first hits with talon and bite, and the second with both talons and bite.

With the onslaught the giant stumbles and topples over succumbing to his wounds "Gaaooaoaaahhh.....", and then Karkoran and Grobly turn him into a red unrecognizable paste.

Combat over.

The group has bagged their bounty successfully, without so much as a scratch, which by some accounts may be a small miracle. Patience, timing, tactics, coordination and magic paid off.

A quiet comes over the canyon except for Grobly's snarling and raging. The raptors feed on the kill, and at least three of you are coated head to toe in blood, luckily not your own.

Grobly will dive into the dead carcass for a few moments. When he realizes the giant is dead, the goblin will stand and look around, almost confused. His eyes begin to refocus and his rage ends. "We won?"

Effects: fatigued.

"Careful, quiet." Lump says, stopping his song. "Others could be nearby. Let's escape, get the heads."

Tayanella searches the giants, which turns up nothing of value. She goes through their filthy sacks of possessions and finds many more interesting items. Here is what she finds:

Cooking pot
Hand-held chopper
Knife
Sewing needle
Chunk of wood, whittled or carved
187 feet of strong rope
Container of grease
Bones
Bowl and spoon
Bag of salt (1 pound)
Tankard
String
Bone Dice
Some fruit
Bowl and spoon
pouch full of gems
some gold and silver ingots
a bunch of jewelry

"We were told we can keep all the treasure for ourselves. I think keeping the ingots is best. We can always keep them and sell them at some other town or place. The dwarves have already been stingy and barely tolerant, I say we owe them no favors. They sent us on this mission that Marshal told us was almost a death mission. Unless we can identify a specific mine or group that lost them, I don't see turning them over to anyone."
