Looked at the map at the top and it seems like a few hexes are still greed out. I think we hit d3 and d2 already. Here is where we talked about it.
When Cal says that he will be ready to go in the morning, Gorguk turns to everyone, I am loathe to separate ourselves while we go exploring, but with your permission Lothar, I was wondering if you would stay behind to take care of things here while we are gone? If so then the rest of us should leave at first light to start securing the area. Perhaps we should head north and west and time our return for when the settlers arrive.
D6,C6,C5-A5,A6,A7,B7,B6,C7,D7 back to the Staglord's fort. Should clear out a large section around our new base. If each hex takes 2 days then we will be back in three weeks and if still time go to F7 and G7. All three rows above our town will be cleared and that will just leave the very north west section.

Gorguk |

Lord Jotham-Sales if there are no other pressing matters then may we offer you the hospitality such as it is here. We will leave in the morning to scour the area clean and ensure the safety of the settlers that are arriving soon. While we are gone, Lothar will be able to help you. However he is going to Oleg's to inform him and Svetlana about the future plans here. Until he returns, Akiros and Dyfrig will assist you if you need anything. How long do you plan on staying if I may ask? If you will be gone within a fortnight, then I wish you farewell and speedy travels. May you find yourself safe at your destination.
Unless there are other matters that Gorguk must attend to he will start gathering supplies for the three week exploration trip. Namely making sure that Durok is ready, his armor and weapons are cleaned, and there is food packed for the entire journey as there may not be time to hunt for food.
If everyone is ok with it, ready to start exploring again.

Calinder Surital |

Cal readies his horse and packs as much of his gear as he can before retiring for the evening.
Cal wakes about a hour before sunrise to see to his daily meditation and supplication to Erastil. Afterwards he has a quick breakfast, finishes packing and leads his horse to the gate.
As the others arrive, he greets them, wishing them each a good morning.

Calinder Surital |

"Morning everyone. Gorguk I expect you've got this little jaunt all planned out as usual. Lead on my friend when your ready and I will follow where you lead."
Calinder then climbs on his horse ready to depart.
Sorry, as mine had been the last post for sometime, I was just waiting on everyone else to post. Just figured everyone else was busy like me.

Lord Jotham-Sales agrees to stay for a few days at the Fort.
So, where does everyone want to go? We have about 10 days before the 'wagon train' of colonists arrives at Oleg's (and then a further week if they are to come here to the Fort area to establish a settlement).

I don't believe anyone had any concerns with this plan.

Gorguk |

Was waiting for an update saying what was found or needed in the first hex we entered. D6.
Durok lifts his head nostrils flairing as the group sets off to explore the untamed wilderness around the fort. Time was against them as the settlers were due within a fortnight. Gorguk sits high in his saddle surveying the landscape and follows Rhasa as she moves out. Ereastil bless us with safety till we return. We will update you Lord Jotham-Sales upon our return.

![]() |
The most noticeable feature of D6 is a long thin valley between two low hills. Here there is a tangled thorny thicket of fangberry bushes. Much of the thorny thicket is draped in the white gossamer silk of spider webs. The best of the berries lie at the heart of the thicket, but harvesting (that is, if you want to) must be done slowly to avoid being lacerated by the thousands of fangberry thorns.
Fangberries are a bit like raspberries. If you ask Dyfrig, he'll tell you that they are good in tarts or pies or just eaten with cream.

Barnabus II |

"Aye but is tha area safe fer tha impending settlers?"
eyes the spider webs suspiciously
"Remember tha giant spider? I would hate tah send settlers tah pick berries an them not return."

Gorguk |

Perhpas we should just go through and check to make sure the area is safe. I would hate for something to happen to someone just because we did not wish to spend the time now and clear it out.
Gorguk will listen to Rhasa give instructions how to move through the bramble to lessen the impact of the thorns. He does wish to clear the area out though even if it means leaving Durok back to protect his horse.

Rhasadilara Goldenbough |

The ranger considers from horseback. "A spider-infested berry patch might be the least of our concerns. I would not send anyone here to harvest the fruit until we have checked it. But... you are the leader."
Climbing off Sunset and leaving the reins on the saddlehorn so he is free to move, she looks for the best route into the patch as well as any sign that the webs are from SOUS spiders of unusual size ;).
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Survival (for tracks): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18

A combination of knowledge and poking around the thicket appraises Rhasadilara that the webs that infest the thicket are the product of a swarm of chew spiders — a species of aggressive spider the size of a man's thumb and with particularly large, serrated fangs. Their numbers and aggressive nature mean that venturing into the thicket is something to be done with caution!

Rhasadilara Goldenbough |

"Based on those webs and the nature of the little beasts, I suspect it will be quite a project to remove the infestation. Better to postpone this until we have more time or people - or someone skilled with vermin - to deal with it. In the meantime, it would not be advisable for anyone to come out here alone. They could be overwhelmed. In general, this is not a threat to anyone that stays away from the thicket, though."
She saddles back up and waits.

Gorguk |

Well now that we ow what the hazards are and can tell others what to be aware of that is good enough for me for now. In time we will have to come back and clear the area of the infestation. Tanks Rhasa for your insights. Shall we continue on then?
Gorguk will also remount and prepare to head further out away from the fort.

Barnabus II |

"Aggressive spiders you say, I have a strange connection to vermin."
Barnabus attempts to intimidate the spiders by thumping the ground and making unsettling vibrations.
Intimidate check
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1

Gorguk |

You did say you had a way with vermin. Are you sure you don't want to stay and continue your connection with them? Gorguk continues to chuckle at Barnabus as they ride away from the spiders. No need to take care of the problem now as long as they can warn people away from them. Perhaps once the settlers get going the Wardens can return to clear the area and allow the berries to be collected. That and one they get the resources to perform the undertaking.

Gorguk |

So says the Pied Piper Barnabus...
I do no worry about your abilities nor any of ours. We all need some refinement and when we reach the perfection tht Lothar talks about we will be great indeed. It is a long journey though for us all till we get to that point.
Gorguk will follow Rhasa away from the thicket and into the next unexplored section pushing as well to get as much done as possible before the settlers arrive.

Calinder Surital |

"Rhasadilara, are these spider susceptible to any particular types of energy? I have perhaps, a means to help defeat them when we come back, but need more information to research it."
I'm thinking that Glyph of Warding as a barrier between us and them could be particularly useful.

Rhasadilara Goldenbough |

She considers for as she rides. "I'm not really a magician, my friend. Is there a reason why any insect would not be harmed by your spell?" She shrugs her slim shoulders, "Most elves are exposed to more magic before they reach their majority than a human will see in a lifetime, but I did not grow up among elves, so..." She shrugs again.
