The end came by surprise to me though, is it everything ok?


It is just a good stopping point for this Campaign. Honestly, I am a little disappointed with the Giantslayer AP. It did not live up to being anywhere like the old Against the Giants from first edition.

Very true. Especially if you played it from the village of hommlet, through the slavers modules, the giants, the drowned dungeons finishing with the demonweb and one on one with Loth.
Hell of a campaign. Took us two years of play. Ah, memories. I had a 23rd level paladin by the end.

You know, I have been thinking of running the old giant series from time to time. Actually started converting it to pathfinder. I might run it, maybe. Could be fun.


I ran Against the Giants twice. First one ended with the party being decimated by a Lich. The Drow City was just too much for the second group. The three parts that made up Against the Giants, the Steading of the Hill Giant Chief, the Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl, and the Hall of the Fire Giant King were all stellar adventures and some of my best memories from the 1st Edition.

I may run another Campaign. I have the hardback version of Curse of the Crimson Throne. I have neither played or ran it. That may be fun.

Well, this is certainly a pitty. I have not played Against the Giants, but I have also heard Giantslayer becomes repetitive after the first couple of books. I think you were playing good with the terrain and mixing with other kind of monsters to make most encounters interesting, even random ones, but I guess so many giants become too many giants at some point. They should have probably played a bit more with the orcs of Belkzen instead of making us go giant camp after giant camp to only find there is a larger giant camp still to fight. Also the Mindspin Valley was huge and the light the forge quest forcing you to explore it in full stranded us down a bit this last year I guess.

Whatever they say, if you ever find yourself willing to continue the campaign, please count Leira in once more!

Anyway, I am very thankful you let me in into your campaign, I did enjoy a lot playing Leira and fighting giants, and it has been a pleasure to share board with you these 3 years and 9 months and 5237 posts. We are heroes. Together we braved the terrors of Ghostlight Marsh, bested the Vault of Thorns druid sanctuary, surrendered the Redlake Fort to our feet, unearthed the secrets of Nargrym Steelhand's tomb becoming Giantslayers ourselves, made ours the valleys of Minderhal in the Mindspin Mountains, defeated the leaders of the Cathedral of Minderhal slaying the red dragon Jahlvoraz, and finally sparkling the Giant's Forge back to life!
