We Need Heroes!
We have just finished Book 1 of The Mummy’s Mask AP and the group is going its separate ways. We want to continue the game overall but we need three new players to do so. I have decided to open this up to a general recruitment. If you are interested in joining us as we continue the AP, please post with a character (idea, build, & background). The recruitment will be open until Friday, 11/30/2018. I will review the characters then and make a decision by Tuesday, 12/4/2018.
There is one remaining character from the previous group, Harmini Wakestep. She is the group’s healer and know-it-all. I will be enlisting her aid in choosing her companions. Together we feel a good balance to the party leads to success, so we will be trying to choose characters that will likely work well together.
I highly encourage everyone to read the Mummy’s Mask Player’s Guide for advice on what characters will work well in the AP. Additionally, please also read my own Guidelines For Character Creation for the specifics realted to building your characters. Harmini and myself are on the forums regularly, so if there are questions or concerns (or advice), please feel free to post those as well.
Thanks, and I look forward to reading everyone’s ideas.

I would like to dot, but have never used rolld20, is it difficult to use? would you consider a player that has never used it?
I find it easier overall but i know several people that feel that image docs works better. As for someone who has never used it, that's fine. Most of it's functions don't matter in this format

Dotting in. Will likely create a martial of some sort.
I'm pretty sure that
this is the link to Harmini Wakestep

Talalmackk Chirronna |

If that is indeed them, how would they feel if another arcane or divine caster was submitted? I could see both stepping on toes here, but at the same time a healer/condition removal arcane caster with knowledges is carrying one hell of a heavy load.
Another caster that is focused on something other than healing would probably be most welcome. Also, a little backup on abilities isn't the worst.

Thanks for assist Paul.

I have a couple of concepts in mind but I prefer to ask a few questions just to see how things interact.
1. Swarm monger druid - could I reskin the centipede as a scarab beetle, it would have the same stats, or I would possibly also be interested in a locust familiar if possible.
2. Storm kindler prestige class- How would it affect sandstorms?
3. are you allowing Occult classes? and I also see you are using some hero points can you take hero point feats or is the hero point a separate one time use option.

Shani, the Druid's Apprentice is ready to be judged! I recommend reading her backstory fully before clicking on the link below to her character sheet, to avoid spoiling the twist at the end.
Malvus came back to visit Shani's town five years later, when she was twelve. She proudly shared with him how much of an inspiration he had been to her, and showed him her garden. In return, he showed her the secret reason why he had come to town. There was a small gathering of druids near this town who met every five years for a ritual. She begged and pleaded for him to allow her to watch this ritual, but he never relented. Instead, he promised that if she still wanted to join them in five years' time, he would take her as his apprentice and allow her to take part in the ritual. She agreed to the terms.
When he returned once more, she was 17, and more than ready to leave the comfort of the temple. He kept his word, and inducted her into the faith in preparation to show her the ritual. Unfortunately, she wasn't prepared for the truth. There was no circle of druids, only a graveyard that a poor old man visited every few years to pay his respects and bless the site. Still, she was his apprentice now, for better or for worse, and the old man still had one more adventure in him.
It was Shani's idea to go to Wati. She heard about the Necropolis expedition from a rumor in a marketplace. It went well, at first. They joined a small team of mercenaries, and were assigned their tomb to explore. After that, though, it was all a blur. Their whole team was dead, and when Shani woke up... she wasn't herself anymore. Some sort of ooze creature had devoured them all, that much she could remember. She remembered the helplessness she felt as the last survivor, with no one left to save her as she dissolved. And yet, for some reason, she was still alive. A blessing from Pharasma, she thought. But somehow, it seemed she had become the very creature that killed her, the strange and unspeakable ooze. She stretched her slimy pseudopods forward, and began the slow journey back to the surface...

Born and raised in a small town nestled in the hill lands around the base of the Pillars of the Sun, Mekonnen and his family have always kept in communion with their ancestors. This connection is what granted him the first of his magical powers and what ultimately led to his first delve into a nearby ruin. Armed with a keen eye and his thirst for historical knowledge, Mekonnen and a few other villagers went deep into the forgotten catacombs, learning much about the lost history of their people. Unfortunately, a sadistic series of traps claimed two of his companions lives before they finally made their escape.
With nothing but a a sack full of complex stone puzzles and what he could remember of the history they uncovered, Mekonnen threw himself at the archaic contraptions. For days he fiddled with their sliding parts, twisting edges, and mind-bending patterns until he managed to take them apart, build them back, and solve them. Finally emerging from his agony fueled and puzzle-filled haze, he did his best to learn what he could about mechanical workings to prevent others from meeting the same fate as his companions.
Fortunately for him, the geographic location of his town made it a prime location to meet traveling adventurers and other inquisitive villagers in need of a local with an eye for traps. His explorations from then forth were met with much more success, his spiritual connections and mind for pulling apart even the most devious traps saving lives and earning him a small fortune in shares.
This wealth and growing confidence allowed him to pursue his passion further. Funding a trip to the golem makers of Sothis, Mekonnen was able to learn even more about the mechanical possibilities of stone, metal, and magic. During one of his visits, an old artisan shared his devotion of Brigh, the Whisper in the Bronze, as his gnomish secret to success. With nothing to lose, Mekonnen supplemented his spiritual communions with daily tinkerings to appease this new goddess. After days of daily worship under the artisan's tutelage, he was finally met with success: a brief vision of the goddess that open his mind.
After spending many more months in the artisan's workshop, Mekonnen caught news of the recent archeological opening of Wati. Eager to once again return to historical exploration, he took a boat down the River Sphinx with a group of non-Osiriani adventurers looking to make some quick cash. Although this group disbanded after a brief but bloody bout of infighting as soon as they found their first relic, Mekonnen has decided to stay in Wati, hoping for another group is looking for a last minute addition to their team so that he can learn more about his people and continue to ply his trade in their tombs.
GM let me know if anything needs to be tweaked to minimize toe-stepping on the existing character or if you have any other feedback.

I will be Dotting a Rogue/Bard ((rogue)Cutpurse/(bard)Shadow puppeteer/Brazen deceiver)
Short version long version will be on character sheet-
During his exploration of the necropolis in the first book him and his companions were given a ancient Tomb to a worshiper of Set, called the Shadowking, in the Tomb the party was slaughtered except Amadune who claimed the treasures, (his equipment on his character) however one of the Items was cursed and has now granted him the ability to manipulate shadows and transformed his shadow into a monstrous thing that talks to him and tries to get him to do evil deeds. (taking the drawback Umbral Unmasking for flavor) A thief off the streets he is now trying to figure out a cure to the Curse before it consumes him, or before he likes it too much.
1. I will have to take Racil heritage (wayang) to qualify for shadow puppeteer, It is a weak archtype but i thought it fit the character concept well to have the shadows attacking people. because the brazen deciever says the abilities come from a dark source i thought as a whole it really worked well together, because im goign to RP it as he instinctually casts bard spells while he talks. (perform Oratory)

In answer to the various questions and concerns…
I have a couple of concepts in mind but I prefer to ask a few questions just to see how things interact.
1. Swarm monger druid - could I reskin the centipede as a scarab beetle, it would have the same stats, or I would possibly also be interested in a locust familiar if possible.
I would be ok with reskinning the centipede to a scarab beetle. It definitely in theme. I will look into the locust as well, but as a reskin of something I also feel it may work ok.
3. are you allowing Occult classes? and I also see you are using some hero points can you take hero point feats or is the hero point a separate one time use option.
Occult Classes are allowed, though I will need to research specific builds a little more as I am not 100% familiar with them. Harmini is more experience with them though, so she should be able to coach me a little on them. And yes, hero points are legit in the game, including spells and feats as well.
May I present Akil Khaled Aasimar cleric Herald Channeler of Horus.
A few questions here. What domains and what feats? Specifically I noticed the familiar and I am curious how you are gaining a familiar. Also, curious about skill ranks. You list have 2+INT for a total of 3. But have a 10 INT. Perhaps this is a reskin of a previous build or a copy/paste error.
Dotting for interest. I would like to play a catfolk unchained rogue (cat burglar archetype) if that is okay with you, GM.
A catfolk rogue is not a disqualifying issue but Unchained is not allowed. Please see the Guidelines of Character Creations.

Wayang is a valid option. The flavor of this is interesting. I need to read more on the Brazen Deceiver though to see how it fits thematically.
I will be withdrawing my dot and concept. I hope you guys have fun! I just have too many games going at the moment and don't want to spread myself any thinner.
I can completely understand. Good luck to you. Of note, Empiricist would definitely be an acceptable option.

So because I'd like to address any questions and because I want to show my continued interest here is the basic crunch my spiritualist build. I'm debating an switching feats and racial traits around a bit and haven't decided on a skills role or equipment.
Main points, this is basically a type of bladebound magus with the spiritualist casting. This build is very tanky (very good saves, solid AC with shield spell up) and can pick most any skill role to fill pretty well (including being a decent face actually, though it does require shuffling a couple trait or two), but only has a few skill points per level and so needs to focus on a particular area of interest.

So, I've got an idea roughed out for a Wyrwood Slayer, with some of the backstory figured out. However, as opinions are often mixed on Wyrwood in general, I figured I'd check with you before I go any further. So, Wyrwood, yay or nay? (If not, I can work out something else. I really want to give this AP a second try.)

Talalmackk Chirronna |

Do you use the aging rules?
The aging rules can be used.

Wyrwood is a very unusual race. I won't disqualify the concept outright but the backstory will need to be incredible for me to accept the character. A well developed backstory will need to be presented with it.

Jereru |

My basic idea is a member of the priesthood of a god with a portfolio related to relics or magic items, such as Khepri, Neith or Ptah, who ventures in the catacombs with the group to make sure the artifacts found are not misused, and maybe try that the ones the explorers sell are sold to the temple.
I see there's a lot of people applying with skill-focused characters, and quite some melees, so I think I should try a DPS. I'm torn between Inquisitor and Warpriest (Arsenal Chaplain), if the latter is allowed. I'm also sorry if I'm stepping on anyone's toes but, at this time, every role seems already covered so anything I do would overlap anyway.

Hello
I would like to submit Nimaethep for consideration. The link is to her build according to your build rules, I will be updating the forum build to reflect these changes.
Nimaethep build
I have played most of the first mod in this series and would enjoy continuing it.

Ebron reporting for an excursion.
I have a background outline in the alias. I'd like to flesh t out into something more prose like, but I am not sure what time I will have over the next two days.
I didn't see any references to specific Pharaohs in the Player's Guide. For the Blood of the Pharaohs trait is there a list of Pharaohs to look at?

Clebsch73 |

Dotting for interest. I will work on a character tonight and should have time during the week to work everything up. I am thinking of a fighter and/or monk. But I'm feeling a bit chaotic and may use the background generator in Ultimate Campaign to rough out a character background and see what ideas that gives me.

hustonj |
Seriously considering applying. I am texhnically in a Mummy's Mask game right now, that is about 16 months old, but the GM has swapped out, and there are 5 current PCs, the most active of qhich has declared they are leaving, to go with the 3 former PCs. Current postcount is 802, or less than 2 posts a day average, and that is with the dropping character posting under a second alias for the pet/familiar as least as often as in character.
My character is a Sacred Shield / Warrior of the Holy Light Paladin of Sarenrae. Doesn't do much damage. His role is tank and buff those near him defensively. Instead of channeling positive energy, at 4th level he grants all adjacant allies a shiles bonus equal to his shield bonus, as an immediately relevant example.
A Tower Shield and Shield Focus nets a +5 Shield Bonus without magic, BTW.

I found this on Pathfinder Wiki. This is the best I can find.
Malera Hann (HatersInHeaven): Osirian Human Divine Hunter (Paladin) Assuming FCB applies to HP, everything looks good with Malera.
Shani (Newbonomicon): Human Oozemorph (Shifter) Assuming FCB applies to skills, almost everything looks good with Shani. Bare bones on gear though.
Teos of An (Daniel): Garundi Human Fighter Seems okay. Will need to see the full adjusted stats to give the full thumbs up if chosen.
Akil Khalid (Helikon): Aasimar Herald Caller of Horus (Cleric) Still reviewing and awaiting clarification to previous questions.
Nimaethep (Starfox_SFX): Catfolk Monk of the Lotus-Nimble Guardian-Trapsmith (Monk/Rogue) Still reviewing some details but I have to ask, what use do you expect to get out of the pearl of power? Same for the wand of shield?
Ebron Rys (Jagael): Elf Blood Arcanist (Arcanist) Gears seems to be over 4K. Assuming fully charged wand that is, but since charges are not listed cannot be sure. Also, definitely short 1 or 2 lanaguages. Last, I am curious of the story explanation of the half-orc blood. A half-orc and an elf would produce a HALF-elf, not a full blooded elf.
Abu Shufta (Baggageboy): Half-orc Phantom Blade (Spiritualist) Still reviewing.
Darkwing_DM: Wayang Cutpurse-Brazen Deceiver-Shadow Puppeteer (Bard/Rogue)
Gummy Bear: Human Speaker of the Past of Stone (Shaman)
Brainiac: Catfold Unchained Catburglar (Rogue)
Cuan: Pahmet Dwarf Psammokinetic (Kineticist)
Jereru: Inquisitor or Molthuni Arsenal Chaplain (Warpriest)
Skelatox: Wyrwood Slayer
Clebsch73: Fighter and/or Monk
Houstonj: sacred shield-warrior of holy light (Paladin)

Nimaethep (Starfox_SFX): Catfolk Monk of the Lotus-Nimble Guardian-Trapsmith (Monk/Rogue) Still reviewing some details but I have to ask, what use do you expect to get out of the pearl of power? Same for the wand of shield?
The wand is for use with use magic device. On the first round of a fight she currently has a 50/50 chance of benefiting from a shield spell.
The pearl may not be relevant depending on what the group composition is, but in a nutshell Nimaethep doesn't expect a caster to be constantly sacrificing a first level spell if she asks for mage armour each day, so she has the pearl to give them back any first level spell they want in return for the favour.

Ebron Rys |

Thanks for the info, Talalmack.
To your questions:
Gear: I was working off this from character guidelines, "If crafting feats and/or skills are taken you may consider any items purchased at
creation as discounted (half for magical, third if mundane)". I will list prices by everything if that will help.
Languages: At 1st level this character would have a +5 Int so Common, Elven, and the five others listed. Are you playing where languages are automatically learned when the Int modifier increases after that?
Orc: This comes from the Bloodline Arcana of the Orc Bloodline. I wanted to work it into the backstory as an actual part of their bloodline from a few generations back rather than it just suddenly appearing as part of the class. For that part it really comes down to how many generations you maintain the "half" part. When does a half-elf and elf union finally produce an elf instead of a half-elf?

I'm definitely planning on a worshipper of Bastet and different versions are fighting in my mind . So, some questions
1) if I went cleric with the animal domain, would it be ok for me to retrain my 3rd level feat into Boon Companion. I'd spend the money, obviously.
2) Do you have any issues with a Lion shaman druid worshipping Bastet?
3) How about a Hunter worshipping Bastet?
4) is it acceptable to have BOTH an Animal Companion AND familiar? Both would be around, only 1 would ever be used in combat at a time

Sorry about that. I failed to notice UMD at the end of the list of skills (I was looking for Use Magic Device, not just the initials).

I just realized the perfect character. But I'm worried that it may be TOO powerful, especially at level 4 (which is arguably the level at which it is strongest relative to other characters). Comments solicited.
Very basic history - The character is an Osirion born with the holy tattoo of Bastet carved into her skin. For as long as she can remember she has had an instinctive love and understanding of felines of all types. And her personality has often been described as catlike by others. As she reached adolescence, she realized that she could even start to take on some of their appearance and abilities. She has become an adventurer at least partially to learn more about her own history, how she came to be what she is.

Newbonomicon |

Shani (Newbonomicon): Human Oozemorph (Shifter) Assuming FCB applies to skills, almost everything looks good with Shani. Bare bones on gear though.
Yeah, that's where the extra skills came from. Also, I fixed a little error in damage, I was applying my full strength bonus to damage in the secondary attack version of slime slap (which, in case you couldn't guess, is for full attack purposes) instead of half. I'll probably pick out some adventuring gear if I get chosen, I just didn't really get around to that since it was low priority, and I wanted to get the actual character ready.

For some reason I only saw the headband as half price in my math. It was a long weekend.
Languages: At 1st level this character would have a +5 Int so Common, Elven, and the five others listed. Are you playing where languages are automatically learned when the Int modifier increases after that?
Yeah, that's the way I've always seen it. One should be linked to the headband.
1) if I went cleric with the animal domain, would it be ok for me to retrain my 3rd level feat into Boon Companion. I'd spend the money, obviously.
I'm okay with this.
2) Do you have any issues with a Lion shaman druid worshipping Bastet?
Not specifically but I think Sekhmet would be more appropriate. Also, full disclosure, a catfolk worshiper of Bastet should not devolve into a continuous string of sex jokes or it will be removed.
4) is it acceptable to have BOTH an Animal Companion AND familiar? Both would be around, only 1 would ever be used in combat at a time
In this format, I would say this works fine. Make sure you are aware that Boon Companion only applies to one of them unless you take the feat twice.
I just realized the perfect character. But I'm worried that it may be TOO powerful, especially at level 4 (which is arguably the level at which it is strongest relative to other characters). Comments solicited.
The archetype is fine. Will need to see the full character to decide if it is "TOO powerful" though. A lot of builds can be broken.

What would you think of a reflavouring of the Ravener Hunter to be centered about Osirion instead of Mangwi?
