Sorry about that fight, guys. That one came directly from the mod and I thought it would be cool, but with the paralysis gaze, so many saves, the grappling, and the blood sucking, it did not turn out as I had imagined. It was a chore just to get through it for me, as well as for you, and now it turns most likely into one of those 15 minute days from 3.0 and 3.5, because with all the Con loss, I am sure you are going to rest for a whole day and prepare lesser restorations, etc. I will use better judgment in the future.

I actually thought it played out well. It was really tough, in some ways one of the toughest encounters we've had.
And if I had played Dumah smarter, it may not have been that devastating. Right now, Dumah is in the mindset of finding treasure so he can track down Haleen again and get her out of debt/trouble. That's making him take chances and be more aggressive than he might otherwise be. But after this thumping, he has every reason in the world to tone it down. After all, he can't help Haleen if he's dead.

I also enjoyed the fight, especially since Jameena got to shine a bit and save people from certain death.
But yeah, this smells a lot like a 5 minute work day. In fact, I would really like to get back to civilization and adjust my gear before we press on. I equipped Jameena without having played her at all, and there are a few items I feel would greatly aid my efforts to keep everyone alive, and contribute more effectively.

Lucendar is the king of knowing just how dangerous to make a fight that pushes us to the brink, but we are just able to press on through! I love these types of battles myself. Nothing ventured, nothing gained so to speak.
We havent had xps awarded in a bit, so maybe we are closing in on another level, too.

Not going to happen till you find the source of the magic.

Yes, I believe this is the sixth or seventh time that I have actually started to draft up my back up character for Dumah. :)

Yeah, I clearly felt the hard, cold touch of rails underneath my feet once Eli went all remote-controlled. No knock on you, though, I understand that is the way the AP is written. I'll make due and keep my eye open for useful items along the way.

Not to fret...your friendly neighborhood paladin is here to chase the nasty undead away with a healthy helping of nice, positive energy.
Also, to the best of my recollection specters don't wail. This must be something else, but what...?

Tyrone: Sorry for the bad news. I failed the 2 saves for you also when I rolled them. Thought you would do better. We'll see after the fight, if the party survives, what happens.
Quzman: When you get back, your bonuses with the bow are wrong (not +9 as you list them in your profile). +6BA + 3Dex +1 MW = +10/+5

Rahim Al Alam |

I vote some kind of healer! Sarenrae knows I need all the help i can get keeping the rest of you alive.
(I kid, I kid...Pick whatever you like if we can't get Ty back to life.)
A man in loose fitting robes and a tribal headscarf steps out of nowhere and addresses you in a warm tone, "Greetings fellow travelers. May the sun's blessing be upon you this day! May Sarenrae's light guide your path to glory, fortune and good health! My name is Rahim Al Alam. How may I be of service to you?" Rahim bows deeply as he speaks.
Sorry for the interruption... I just couldn't resist. ;)
That is some tough luck on those save rolls Gerald! :(
Go Sand Stalkers!

The way Jameena is built, she is going to be hurting more and more to do some serious damage as we face tougher opponents. As it is, her normal, non-smite dmg caps out at 10, which is barely a scratch for most enemies in our CR range, and gods forbid I'd have to overcome some kind of DR. And without 13 STR to get Power Attack or being able to wield two-handed, there's not a lot I can do about it.

Gerald |

I made this post but it disappeared earlier, so I'll try again.
I am thinking three different options, and would like the group's insight on what they would prefer.
A Witch. I would be able to help Jameena with the healing, do major debuffing of enemies, etc.
Ty. If we need direct damage, Ty can do that just as well as just about anyone from range.
A sorcerer/warrior/dragon disciple. Major melee damage dealer. That will be another lightly armored meleer, though.
What does the group think?

Jameena Al'Qadr |

Do we level right away, or do we wait until we rest or get back to town?
Of the options Gerald has presented, I'm more inclined towards either getting Ty back to life or going with the witch. I think melee is crowded enough as it is with three of us rushing forth at the foe. And Ty has been a major contributor to overall damage.
As to our new level, I'd like to get some input.
Feat selection:
Lots of options here. Since we have already established that Jameena will never be much of a damage dealer, I'm leaning towards feats that instead help out the team or hinder the enemy in other ways than hp. Top options are:
Enforcer (because I can deal nonlethal dmg without penalty),
Outflank (teamwork, so someone else needs to take this as well) or either Extra Channel or Extra Lay on Hands.
Spell selection:
I've got the 2nd level spell slot down to two choices:
Fire of Entanglement - very iconic for a Sarenrae-worshiper.
Paladin's sacrifice - makes it easier to keep everyone on their feet. It is easier for me to get a swift self-heal off than a channel or standard action Lay-on-Hands.
In any case, here is my hp roll 1d10 ⇒ 4 - looks like I'm taking 5 hp for this level.

Assuming you rest, either now or after you investigate the rest of the tomb, you can level.
Gerald, there is one caveat with Ty coming back to life. The trip will not be as smooth as it was with Quzman, with the party simply traveling to Katapesh. The module details several events that occur between now and the party traveling to the main city, which would mean that you would have to wait numerous posts before Tyronel could even participate in the game. Obviously, I could get a new character in quicker. Take that into consideration.

If the party was willing to do the hard work of bringing Ty back, would you allow Gerald to play a temporary PC someone we could meet and adventure with who could then be regulated to an aquatint NPC (no longer adventuring) when TY was resurrected. Assuming we can make that happen. Just a thought that would allow Gerald to keep Ty but not have sit out of the game for an extended period of time.

I could see Outflank as being a very useful Feat for Eli to have. If you want to take it I will take it too.

I like the option where you play a new character while we chug Ty's charred bones around in a bag. Then if we get a chance to Raise Dead, we can decide if we bring him back or stick with our new friend.
I figure we go back topside and see if perhaps the Carrion King had some captives who have stuck around and would like to join.

Good point, Jameena. Let's see what Lucendar thinks about that.
