PROFILE

Background:

A Work In Progress
Rahim was born the seventeenth child, in a family of thirty five, who lived in the southern deserts of Katapesh. His father was a tribal leader and fairly successful merchant, affording Rahim a comfortable childhood. Rahim, like most of his brothers and sisters, was unsure just which of his father's wives was his birth mother. This mattered little to Rahim as he was fond of all his father's wives.

While Rahim's childhood was certainly not difficult or wanting in any way, he grew restless the older he got. Rahim always knew that his destiny lay outside his family and tribal life. While most of his brothers aspired to be successful merchants like his Adabar worshiping father, Rahim felt something else was in store for him.

It was this belief that drove Rahim. When he reached the age of majority in his tribe, he packed a few supplies into his pack and left to test his manhood, as had all the ancestral males of his tribe before him. His task was to spend an entire month in the desert alone. His survival was dependent on his skills and his alone. He wandered out into the desert, not with trepidation of the challenge ahead, but with the confidence that his destiny awaited out there in the wastelands under the blazing sun.

It was during this month, of his wandering the desert, that he came to realize his destiny. During the many challenges and hardships he faced in his time in the desert; severe thirst, sandstorms, wild beasts and a narrow escape from gnoll slavers, the more and more Rahim felt a connection to the sun and the goddess he would hold dear in his heart, Sarenrae. Many of the times when he felt he would not survive, he would offer a prayer to the sun goddess, and time again his prayers were answered with the discovery of a source of water or a timely happenstance to avoid serious injury or death.

Rahim saw these instances as a sign, a calling. When he had completed his month long ordeal, he awoke the morning of the final day and as the sun broke over the dunes, Rahim devoted his life to serving Sarenrae. Upon his devotion, Rahim felt the warm and joy of Sarenrae's love wash over him and he knew that he had finally found his path in life.

Rahim did not return to his family and tribe. Instead he followed the call of the sun and wandered off in search of Sarenrae's blessings and guidance. He has spent every day since following the path of the sun, letting Sarenrae guide his journey through life. Wandering Katapesh, offering help and healing to those in need. He has saved travelers from the dangers of the desert, whether it be by providing water, healing, or the protection of his scimitar and shield.

His travels have brought him into conflict with gnoll slavers on many occasions and considers it a personal duty to oppose them at any opportunity. It is in this pursuit that Rahim has recently arrived in the area of Kelmarane while following a particularly brutal band of slavers. He has lost the trail and is now wandering the area waiting for Sarenrae's guidance in the form of a sign...

Possibly how Rahim meets up with the other PCs. Wandering out of the desert at some opportune time...?

Personality:

Rahim is well liked by most that he meets. He is outgoing, friendly and polite. He is loyal and brave, believing in Sarenrae to provide and protect him. While he tries his best to resolve conflict with words, he is not without some skill in combat. He is humble and dislikes showy displays of wealth and power. His generous nature and difficulty in saying no sometimes leads him into situations he would have done better to avoid, but he would never back out of an oath given or promise made.

Appearance:

Rahim is a Kelishite through and through. Brown eyes, brown hair and deeply tanned skin peek out from beneath his head scarf. He wears loose flowing robes typical of the local tribes. He carries a light wooden shield, scimitar and has a holy symbol of Sarenrae prominently displayed on his person. He is relatively short and lean, but is quite strong. He is well groomed, handsome and clean shaven.

Aspirations:

Rahim wanders the deserts of Katapesh, doing good and opposing evil in the name of Sarenrae. He wishes to bring further glory to his goddess reflected in his own actions. He especially favors helping those of lesser status, as they usually don't have an advocate to work for them in times of need.

If Rahim had a long term goal (which he doesn't currently), it would be to found or revitalize a temple to Sarenrae, one focused on helping and healing those less fortunate. Perhaps by adventuring, he can earn enough glory, and perhaps coin, to make such a dream possible.
