If we find enough loot, maybe we can get a device for her! But yes, he should definitely add it to his spell list. I'm thinking of taking craft wondrous at the next opportunity.

Holy smoke, we are handing down a beating...between Ty, Jameena and Quzman, that should be somewhere between 175 and 200+ dmg. Is his mangy majesty dead yet, or does he want seconds?

But if he doesn't fall, he can kill Dumah and I with ease next round, assuming he wants to do that. Hopefully the pally and the gnollkiller's vicious assault makes him focus on them for a round!

I just posted that Dumah was using a Grease spell on his axe. Perhaps I should have done a force missile or ray of frost instead. That would have been an awesome way to finish him off if we are indeed close!

hp 61/61, AC 22/15/17, F +13 R +12 W +11 Init: +4, Perception: +0

He most likely needs to shut down any amount of dmg to him over the next round to stay alive - which I don't really see him doing. He might take a few of us down with him, but so be it.

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!! WHAT AN ASS-KICKING! I was very nervous about this fight. I TPK'ed my real-life group with this fight. Nicely done! Sorry to be such an anti-climactic battle. At least, it was scary for that first 1/2 a round. LOL...

Its a nasty error that most people haven't noticed much yet, as its quite subtle.

That was a thing of beauty - after all those crits, and tough fights and near-deaths, it felt SOOOOOO good just to unleash one big bowl of red-hot, divinely fueled whooopass!

That was a total of roughly 300 points of damage handed out in six seconds! Thankfully we gave more than we took...that's the gerat thing about scmiitar weilders. When its crit time, its a thing to behold!

Props again, the King was a CR8 challenge.

That was an awesome fight. The lead in with the gnolls and Unchosen, to the charge from the beast himself to nearly cut two in two was fearsome to behold. It was nice to have the group in a position to truly unload like that once things started moving.

Great game still. Extremely challenging fights, and good interplay/action going on.

Well said and thanks, this game is a blast. And it's good to the see the PCs kick ass once in awhile. Though to do it on the big baddie that has been built up over 4500 posts.....like I said, you really let loose all that hatred you had for him!

Scary thought to see how powerful this group can get, as your tactics continue to mesh!

I'm thinking I screwed up, moving him into melee. If I would have waited and let you come to the king, he would have gotten an AoO on the first combatant and both Quzman and Jameena would only have gotten 1 attack not a full-round's worth. And then on his turn, the King would have gotten his full-round. But he would have been pelted by Tyronel's arrows and Dumah's spells. I had to play his personality, which says he is arrogant and overconfident, so he moved on in.

Sorry, just the DM in me, trying to see where I went wrong....LOL! Obviously, hindsight is 20/20.

I don't think you "went wrong" anywhere; I think that's what an enraged, overconfident berserker would do exactly. Wow. What a brutal fight!

This, exactly. We were puny forces to be squashed by his unholy might...or so he thought (or would have thought IMO =p).

Thank you for your reasonable points. I agree, no more feeling sorry for the poor King!

Thanks for the tech support, AK. You a lurker in my PbP or just following JaceDK?

Sovereign Court

I lurk from time to time :) (I skim-lurk recently as im playing the AP in PbP).

Also, Jace talks about the game on MSN so I have to see what hes referring to.

Lucendar wrote:
Ok, let's see how dramatic a fight this can be, compared to Kardswann and Xulthos. Such high standards!

Oh and I had forgotten about the Lynxian and Ataraxia/Onyx fights! Some good stuff!

Cool, happy to have you. I'll most likely lurk on your new campaign.

And DM, always, and I mean always, in my group, the big baddie goes down easier than some random group of mooks do. I've no way to explain it, but it is commonplace in my games. The only thing that might alter that is a random crit by it here or there.

And I appreciate you not running us through the huge dungeon that I remember this part of the story being. Nothing hurts a PbP more than a huge dungeon, IMHO, as no one does anything other than the rogue making perception and check for traps rolls for days at a time, it seems.

That's why I always take the Trapfinder rogue talent when I play a rogue. It helps do away with that sort of thing. If I reach the point where I'm ready to run a Pathfinder game by PbP, I'll probably give it to any rogue for free.

Like I said, you guys have spoiled me with those excellent 9-10 dramatic round combats in the past, so of course, I assumed that would be the case here. But no problem with how it turned out.

Oh and of course, the way the module is written, it would suck for PbP to run it that way, both for you and me. This way, I kept the shortcut listed as an add-on adventure with heavy modifications and the main fights without having to bore you with all the room searching and exploring. Trust me, I have done a lot of modifications, as probably AK can attest to from playing in another LoF PbP, to the module to fit my tastes.

Speaking of the achievement Feats, I'm going to track Jameena's confirmed crits, just I case I want to take Relentless Butcher down the line - the name and fluff don't really match, but the mechanics seem like a nice option for scimitar-wielder.

By my quick audit of all Jameena's posts, she's actually only confirmed 1 or 2 at this point (not counting the ones vs Onyx, who was immune), so there is a way to go to reach the 50 I need. I'm going to put the count at 2 for now, and keep track from here on out.

I am not throwing in this battle because you took the Gnoll King in 1 round. Honestly, it is part of the mod, just in case you had doubts!

No doubts here. I don't own the AP, but if you are altering things I don't care, because it has certainly been a blast so far! And I expect it will continue to be, assuming to TPK right here.

I'm looking ahead on how to advance Jameena to be more effective in and out of combat and how to best complement the rest of the party.

Obvious Feat choice for next level is Enforcer, letting me take advantage of my CHA score, my intimidate ranks and my Merciful Blade trait to give baddies I hit the Shaken condition.

Other than that, I have no real plans. When she's not smiting, her damage output is a bit low for the level of opposition we are facing, so I think it best to focus on applying hampering conditions, and putting myself in between the baddies and Dumah/Ty (and Eli, if I can get him to see reason), using swift LoH's (and Hero's Defiance) to keep me on my feet.

Another obvious way to go is to take some of the Critical feats, since I'll never wield anything other than a scimitar.

And we could also consider some of the teamwork Feats. A good choice here could be:

Outflank (Combat, Teamwork) - Better flank to-hit bonus and, more importantly, a crit provokes AoO from your flanking buddy. With both Jameena, Eli and Quzman wielding high-threat weapons, this should see a lot of use.

You, probably are not going to get Eli to see reason, :) He has taken his gambling risk it all personality to the extreme upon being "choosen" to wield the ancient weapon Tempest. I am working him to the Duelist Class, which is why I am taking some levels as a fighter (one handed alternate). I would consider the Outflank feat for him and this group, it fits his style of getting behind the enemy across from Quzman/Jemeena and taking advantage of the sneak attack damage.

Very cool visual of Eli sticking to the back of the centipede and stabbing it!

hp 61/61, AC 22/15/17, F +13 R +12 W +11 Init: +4, Perception: +0

Yup - He'll make a beautiful corpse, stuck up there with swollen joints, like a Paul Atredies-wannabe.

I'm really, really glad we did not have to fight this thing and the Carrion king at the same time. Trample is nasty.

Naturally the fight that is NOT the Carrion King is going to kill a couple of us. That is the wonderful nature of RPG fights, lol.

Male Human Writer 2/Dreamer 7

Epic, as always. I was worried that we would lose at least one of us before we brought that thing down. It would be truly ironic to end the threat of the Carrion King, only to all die crushed by his pet.

What a crazy battle?! 1 unconscious, one in the negatives, and two in single digit HPs.

Jace is right. Epic is a good word that that one.

I was very worried about Ty there that last round but you guys pulled through! Amazing to hit rolls! Fun battle!

A week from today I am attending a week long conference out of town that I get class credit for. I am not sure what kind of internet access I will have. I am hoping I will get to post at night but won't know for sure until I get there. I am OK with being NPC'd by the DM while I am gone if need be, or if you want to work out something in the story to have my character "exit" for the week I am cool with that too.

Just wanted to let you know that I posted a Recruitment thread for a Crimson Throne game, with some adjustments, per my nature. You're not obligated to apply and you also won't be assured of a spot if you do. Just throwing it out there.

While I'd love to be in another game you are running, I am currently in a Crimson Throne game that is going pretty strong. But I'll probably read along as long as you don't pass us up where we are in the story!

God, Lucendar, I am in too many games so I am not going to apply right now. That kills me because I love your game, and that particular AP. If you want to wait list me, if someone drops out, and one of my games ends, I'd be happy to create whatever the party needed, LOL...

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

OHHH, color me interested. I might look over my players guide and see if an idea pops out. I have always wanted to do an empty hand monk/acrobat sort of a fantasy DnD Parkour character.

Male Human Writer 2/Dreamer 7

Very tempting. CotCT has long been on my list of AP's I'd like to try.

I already passed on applying for Alex Kilcoyne's Sargava game, because I'm in so many games already, but....

I think I'll give the Players Guide a read and see if a concept too good to pass on presents itself.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

I am back from the conference and will get caught up on the thread soon.

Glad to have you back, MD!

I think Quzman is gone, guys. 10 days without a post. Ideas?

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Push on until we reach a leveling point, and then if he hasn't reappeared by then seek out a replacement I guess. I hope he is okay.

I am sorry for the long absence guys. RL has taken a serious turn for the worse in several ways here recently. Between a series of seeming never ending tasks and stress, I've had very little time (or inclination when I've had the time) to try and get updated or follow the story.

I am hoping things are settling down to a dull roar at home, as most of the major crisis have been dealt with. However, I do hate to drag the game down, and I know 10 days is way to long to be away, especially without being able to give warning.

I can bow out for a replacement if the group would prefer, and I can definitely understand for the story to proceed it takes a team. I will try and catch up and update if appropriate the IC thread this afternoon.

Sincerely,
Snigg

Glad to hear from you, Snigg, and know you're ok. I'll leave the decision for a replacement to the group but we'll go with Eli's suggestion for now and move on. Snigg, if you can post, go for it.

Im fine with that, too. Snig has been here too long to let go by the wayside, if he still wants to play.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Glad to know your okay. I don't mind waiting for Quzman to be able to catch up, much prefer we keep him then replace him. RL always has to come first.

Thanks for dropping in, Snig. I totally understand the RL taking priority. I'd also be willing to wait a bit if it means we can keep Snig/Quzman as part of the group.

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16

Just letting you know that over the next two weeks we are having some vacation time before school starts up again. We are traveling, visiting friends and doing a lot of day long activities. I will be keeping up on the thread, but I might be delayed a day here or there depending on our plans.
