I'm fine with waiting, as like Gerald I'd hate to have something happen to Eli while he wasn't in control of him (or even while he was in control of him =p).
This was my wife and mine's first Christmas with children, and it was a shock to the system. Between how much time it took to get everything ready and then finally try and recover from the effort, it feels like the last month and a half has been one big constant ball of motion. Somedays I'm certain that taking in 4 kids at once was a bit off the deep end ;).

Just popped on to see whats up, I present a final project tomorrow and then should be able to get back to once a day posting. I really appreciate putting up with my extra delay. I know the Holidays have been tough to keep the thread going and I didn't make it any easier with this semester in a week class. See you on the boards soon.

I feel ya, I have two girls and on Xmas Eve I was up till 2am assembling a wooden kitchen play set. They love it so it was worth it!

Wow, sniggs, that is a big deal! Congrats to you and your wife...that's a nice thing you all did.
I agree, I'd like to hear more about your experience. Our upstairs neighbors last year fostered and then adopted a brother and a sister and we have always considered adoption as an option in the future.

I am willing to wait another week to have Quzman and Eli back with us. I'm confident that with this crew we can pick up the momentum again.
Thanks, I have to agree this group is awesome to play with. I think that once we all get back into the routine we will be back on track in no time.

Wow, we lost another one? We'll I think the baddies have been pretty tough. If we don't have a 5th player we should at least start to have some henchmen or something to help handle the fights better. I'd like to see if we can find another player but if that doesn't work we could always start to run secondary characters with personal connections to our primary or another players primary character. We could all make one or just a few of us who don't mind doing more than one character.

Sniggevert |

Another one drops off? A good healer is hard to find it seems. Man, I miss the days of Brebork =p. I think we do need some sort of healing, as the challenge rating has been high. It gets you on the edge of your seat, that's for sure. I'd be fine with any of the options really, find a new 5th, bring in some henchmen, or a secondary character or two.

Those guys have done a really nice job, Lucendar. Several great choices. I'll check them closer and edit this post with my favorites.
I don't feel comfortable picking a favorite, but I'll list my three favorites:
*Jameena Al'Qadr--paladin.
*The Wild Mouse--druid, from Dreaming Warforged.
*Rahim Al Alam--cleric, from Lord Okoya.
The others are also well done, but a couple of them really don't fill the healing role we need.
Anyway, that is my two cents...

Jameena Al'Qadr |

Blessings of the Dawnflower upon you all!
Thank you very much for the opportunity to be part of what seems like a very solid group. Jameena should have plenty of healing to go around, and she can swing a scimitar with the best of them too.
Lucendar, regarding finishing touches:
- The INT stat - I'll pop it back up to 8 and lower STR down to 10. It was actually the way I built her at first, but I went down to 7 on the suggestion of Alexander Kilcoyne, who pointed out that the number of skill points would be the same. Her low INT reflects her poor upbringing as the daughter of a camel herder. Not much time for school and such.
- I've bought gear based on wealth by level. I still have a few hundred gold to spend, and I'd like suggestions on what to get. I'm considering a mount (horse or camel).
- The Dervish Dance Feat states that "You treat the scimitar as a one-handed piercing weapon for all feats and class abilities that require such a weapon (such as a duelist’s precise strike ability)." Does that mean that I can't use it with Blade of Mercy, which only works with slashing weapons?
Other than that, I can't really think of anything. I'll start making my way through the 3400+ posts in the IC thread to get an idea of where we are at. I've never played LoF or read the Players Guide, so I have only the most basic idea of the plot.
Oh, and all of you are welcome to add me to messenger, if you use it.

Welcome to the team, Jace...
Thanks. Just got done skimming through the entire IC thread, so I now have a basic understanding of the events up until now. You guys have some excellent roleplay going, and I can't wait to be part of it. I'm especially curious to how you will all react to having a beautiful woman traveling with you.
Other than that, I'm waiting for our good GM to give me the final thumbs up on the character, and then I'll make my introduction in the IC thread.

I will allow you to use the trait and the feat together. Other than spending your gold, the character is good and ready to start. You can make your appearance in the recently liberated Kelmarane when you want. You arrive as the village nears its one-year anniversary of liberation from gnoll rule.

Welcome to the game JaceDK, thanks for taking the time to read what we have done to help with the roleplay. You may also want to look over the notes I have collected do far on our adventures. The profile Books of Eli under my main profile is a link to all the treasure and notes we have aquired over the adventure. From time to time I will post with it in the main thread to help us keep track of things.
Speaking of keeping track DM, do we get and XP for rescuing Haidir?

Jameena Al'Qadr |

One last thing. I noticed that you roll for hp, with minimum half. I just took the average for each level after the first, so here are my rolls:
Level 1: Max (d10) + CON (2) = 12
Level 2: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Level 3: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Level 4: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Level 5: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Total: 47 hp

MythrilDragon wrote:Speaking of keeping track DM, do we get and XP for rescuing Haidir?Yes, all of you get 2000 xp, except Jameena, of course, but loving the rping Jace, keep it up.
Thanks. I'm having a great time fleshing out the character, so you can expect more of the same. We had a member of our Kingmaker PbP campaign who did a fantastic job playing a female, so I take some inspiration from his posts.

JaceDK |

I set Jameena's xp to the amount needed for level 5 in the fast xp track. If the rest of the party is close to level 6, it might be a good idea for her to get a few extra xp as well. Otherwise, she will be trailing behind most of the campaign.
GM has final say, of course.

@JaceDK: Color me interested. Since I don't have that module could you give me some more info about the retired elven ranger. The more details I have the more detailed a character I can make to tie into his background that would earn him an invite to the wedding. I have 2 off the cuff ideas, a ranger former aprenctice (possibly former lover) or a priest there to perform the ceremony (unless that is already an important NPC). Thanks
@Lucendar: I have a question about flanking for you to rule upon. If i use my slippers of spider climbing to run onto the ceiling will I be flanking if I am in the same 5' space as another charter but since we are at to different heights we would be drawing its attention two ways.

JaceDK |

That is a great adventure, Jace. I was in a group running it on the board that almost made it through, before the DM moved on. Since I have went through it all practically, I won't submit a character. But it will be a blast. I'll definitely be reading your thread.
DM JZ's game, right? One of your team-mates (Ylera) applied. I'm reading the thread to get a feel for how other GM's have handled running the module as a PbP.

JaceDK |

MythrilDragon: The module does not give that much info on the retired ranger, and I plan on adjusting him anyway, based on what people write in their character concepts. So just give me your best ideas (as a former RPG Superstar contestant, that should be no problem, eh :-D). There is already a NPC cleric who is in charge of the wedding, but again, nothing that can't be changed if the right idea comes up.
So, in summary, just go nuts and give me a character concept you think is awesome.

Okay I think about it, and see what I come up with. I am curious to play the RPG Superstars adventure but I also have to think about classes and my heavy load of work so I will let you know.

I'm considering throwing my hat in the ring with one of two characters: either a young, human aristocrat that she bailed out from a life that was spiralling downward, or an elf who, though he is technically her nephew, comes across more as the ne'er-do-well uncle who blows through town from time to time.
