The_Devilish_DM |
Jerod's Sleep spell goes off, with no targets in sight. Marcelo abandons his Sleep spell and heads west.
Round 3 Guards:
After the casting of the spells, the guards double move back around the corner, this time the first 2 wielding swords, while the leader in the back still has his light crossbow out and he yells, "Now, that they're out of spells, get them!"
Pallius is up with his delayed action. Then Marcelo, Lhuar, and Naeli to finish Round 3.
Marcello Lucani |
Round 3
Marcello begins running away from the fight, then notices that they are two party members short. "Dannazione!", he curses, and begins returning to the fight. A true Iomedaean would never leave a compatriot behind, he thought. Then again, a true Iomedaean wouldn't stoop to a trick like this. He stops halfway, and begins weaving his arms in the air, much as he did before. This time, however, he did not channel the power within him - this was just for show.
Move back 30'. Bluff check to make it look like I'm casting another spell.
Bluff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The_Devilish_DM |
Naeli keeps running.
Sense Motive check for leader: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9
The leader sees Marcello's act and calls out to his men, "Don't run, it's not a real spell, they're trying to trick us. Hold your positions!"
Initiative:
Jerod
Tuktuk
Soldiers
Pallius
Marcello
Lhuar
Naeli
Jerod and Tuktuk are up in Round 4!
The_Devilish_DM |
Round 4: Guards attack!
The leader steps forward and looks at Lhuar! "You dare give me orders!" He loads and shoots Lhuar with his crossbow, but misses the shifty dwarf. The guards then move up and attack, swinging with great skill and wounding both warriors! "Throw your weapons down and surrender!"
Crossbow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12...miss
Longsword on Lhuar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21..hit
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Longsword on Pallius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23..possible critical
Confirmation: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12..no critical
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Jerod, Pallius, Marcello, Lhuar, and Naeli are up!
Lhuar |
Maybe I should have paid for that cure when I had the chance. I have humans as a favored enemy. :)
Drops the longbow and pulls the scythe out. I attack the one that attacked me with the longsword
Attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Damage:2d4 + 5 ⇒ (2, 4) + 5 = 11
This is terrible, lol. I can't hit anything.
Tuktuk |
Tuktuk sighs as the two warriors again take blows; he grimaces at the constant cycle of pain then healing that they have to endure. That's gotta' hurt He uses his powers to alleviate whatever pain he can.
Move to E25; channel energy to heal Pallius and Lhuar...only 1 left!
1d6 ⇒ 3
The_Devilish_DM |
Round 5: Guards attack!
The young armigers deflect the dwarf and human's blows and then deliver powerful ones of their own, perforating the dwarf's gut, causing him to collapse to the floor. Pallius' shield thankfully deflects the powerful sword blow aimed at his throat!
Guard on Lhuar swings his sword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Guard on Pallius swings sword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17..miss!
The leader cheers the powerful blows and takes a shot at Tukuk with his crossbow but misses! "Surrender now or die, by the authority of the Order of the Rack!"
Attack: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 1 - 4 = 8
Lhuar: -2/12
Pallius: 9/16
Tuktuk |
Tuktuk curses as he sees Lhuar fall. Now not to confident in their odds, he retreats a few steps, and fires at the guard facing him.
Retreat to E22, fire with Xbow
Attack1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Pallius Crispin |
If possible would like to delay to see if sleep works in his favor.. else
Pallius will strike at the one standing upon Lhuar's body!
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Obvious Lucendar has been stealing all the good rolls!!
Jerod Winstrom |
After consulting with Pallius, he agreed for me to cast it at E-29/E-30. So it should hit everyone. Technically, he could take a five foot step back, since he goes before me because I delayed last round.
Jerod finishes Sleep (DC 17 Will Save), loosing it upon the soldiers as a last ditch gambit. He yells out, "Pallius, you're in the way!" Then, he waits to see what happens before taking his next action.
Delay.
Is it possible to hold a spell like this and cast it later on that same round? I know you can hold charges, but I wasn't sure.
Pallius Crispin |
If Pallius fails his save, Pallius was not consulted, as is written in Pallius's contract.
If possible, Pallius would like to 5 foot out of the sleep of death...
Else:
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
And Pallius slumps to the ground.
Jerod Winstrom |
Cursing under his breath, Jerod moves towards the guards. "Starting to get sleepy yourself, aren't you?" He yells out before beginning a spell. "It won't be long now..." Jerod threatens in an ominous tone, after the spell completes.
Move to E-17
Cast Lullaby (DC 16 Will Save) on E-32/E-33

Marcello Lucani |
Round 6
Marcello dashes towards Pallius' unconscious form, and kneels down to slap the warrior's cheeks. "Risvegliare, signore! There will be time to sleep later, once the work is done!"
Move: Move to F27.
Standard: Slap Pallius awake, ending the sleep spell on him.
Swift: Speak in faux Italian.
Free: Steal Jerod's running gag.
Tuktuk |
Tuktuk curses his wound, gritting his teeth against a wave of agony. He blinks away tears as he reloads his crossbow, then again takes aim.
Move action to load xbow, std action to fire; attack1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
damage1d6 ⇒ 2
Pallius Crispin |
Being awoken to Marcello's face, Pallius moves to push him away. "Don't want to know why I am waking up to see you!" he grumbles.
Standing up he pulls his greataxe to his side; looking around he sees the slumbering guards next to him and grins "Well, looks like things got better for some of us!"
He strides across the sewer floor to engage the crossbow wielder in melee combat!
Swift: Push away faux Italian speaking sorcerer.
Move action: Stand + draw greataxe?
Standard action: Move F30
The_Devilish_DM |
With 2 men down/asleep and big Pallius in his face, the leader of the guards throws down his crossbow in disgust and surrenders, dropping to his knees, hands on the back of his head. "Kill me, if you like, traitors, but know that the Order of Rack will not rest until you are brought to justice for killing one of their armigers, so do your worst!"
Marcello Lucani |
As the leader surrenders, Marcello begins grabbing the weapons of the two fallen guards. He glances to Pallius. "He's right, amici. Let's not give the Hellknights anything more to be after us for than what we have at this moment. Make him sleep like his friends."
After gathering their supplies, Marcello resumes his retreat down the passageway with his allies.
Tuktuk |
Tuktuk nods at the words and follows after the others to the west, leaving the Hellknights behind. He knew that they were beyond the point of diplomacy, and saw no reason to try and argue the charges levelled against the group. I have limited healing left, but can use it now if we need it. It may be better to use the potions we found instead, as they'd be more difficult to use in combat.. Tuktuk laughed at the thought that he would so nonchalatly mention battle, when in reality he was scared out of his wits, and moving forward was the only thing keeping him from curling into a ball somewhere to hide.
Jerod Winstrom |
Jerod speaks to the man, lowering his shortbow in a display of mercy as the man drops to his knees. "You won't face death this day! You're just doing what you think is right, armiger, even if your hand is misguided." he adds, then cocks his head to the side, a sincere tone in his voice."Hear my words and listen well; we aren't your enemy! The darkness stalking the night, preying upon the helpless people while the rich sup in their beds behind the security of their wealth; when will it end?"
Jerod inches closer, hitting the man with a volley of hard question after question, with no answers in sight. " This city has caught a blight, soldier, and while its mind slumbers and turns a blind eye, the body festers and rots, withering away. How much will it take, how many more long, morale-straining years, before the shadow demons stalk the Parego Regicona too? Might something finally be done then? Or would it be too late to stop? Tell me, have you seen those abducted from their homes in the middle of the night, left to be butchered, or worse? Do you know that anguish? Well, do you?!" his words lashing at the man accusingly.
He quiets then, turning his back and while waiting for the man's response, he poses one more question.
"Tell me your name. I wish to know the name of the man who's life was spared."
Pallius Crispin |
Knowledge check for Order of the Rack?
Kno Local: 1d20 ⇒ 10
After knocking out the two guards (Non-Lethal CDG) Let me know if I should make rolls.. just want to knock them unconscious not kill! if no one has 'taken care' of the unconscious dwarf, Pallius will uncork a healing vial and nurse it down the dwarf's throat.
Heal: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Waiting on any response from the still conscious guy before doing any BIG actions..
The_Devilish_DM |
The leader of the armored men looks in disgust at Jerod then takes a deep breath and looks straight ahead and yells, "Armand Blackstone, junior armiger of the Order of the Rack; chaos-worshipers, that is all you will get from me!" Unless you interrupt him, he continues to repeat his name and rank.
Pallius can knock unconscious the sleeping guards, no need to roll. How about the leader?
Knowledge check result: The Order of the Rack is a famous order of Hellknights, principally set in Cheliax, responsible for the suppression of rebellious groups. They seek to avoid change through the elimination of any dissent and the control of information. They have a base of operations set outside Westcrown at a Fortress, called Citadel Rivad.
Pallius Crispin |
Once Jerod is done with him, Pallius fully intends to send him into the sleep of unconsciousness with the rest of his fellows.
Once the discussion (however one sided it may be) is finished, Pallius will gingerly apply force from the shaft of his great-axe to the back of Armand's skull until unconsciousness is achieved.
After the armiger assault is now sleeping soundly, (and assuming that Marcello has already relieved the hellknights of their items (guessing sans armour)), Pallius will tie their hands Cutting up rope if need be, and tear some cloth for blindfolds and apply to the armigers.
His handy work done, he picks the two low ranking knights up and throws them over his shoulder. "Can one of you take him?" Motioning to the 'sleeping' Armand with a boot.
Guessing will easily put Pallius at a heavy load
