Hey Jelani. Sneaking in a quick post from Yosemite. My gear is *not* done, and I'll need to update fluff, but otherwise crunch should be ready for feedback.
Any chance I can change this trait as follows?
Highlander (hills or mountains) +1 to Stealth checks, Stealth is always a class skill for you. Double this in hilly or rocky areas. >> Can I substitute subterranean for hills/mountains, to reflect Tik's childhood slinking about the sewers and undercity of Cassomir?
As far as being a riftwarden orphan, I can make his parents riftwardens who left him behind as a kid in Cassomir's subcity, to be raised by his uncle. I can give him a birthmark if it makes sense to the plot, but I'll also probably have him look prematurely aged based on his parents' riftwarden-ness (in order to get to keep his reference image.

Yeah, too tired to write a decent intro tonight. I do have Tiknesr's initial purchases done though.

Now that we've gotten going I'd like to ask everyone to try for one post every 48 hours at least.
If you're going to be away for an extended period please let me know. I try to be patient with absenteeism, but those of you who've been in my games before know that if you're constantly holding things up or not participating, I will kill your character and boot you. Hope it never comes to that and that we all have fun (^_^)
Edit:This is not a dig at Tik, just a statement of future policy. So far things have been fine.

Re: posting schedule, didn't take it as a dig at all! I like that you keep your games moving.
Re: scales, there's not a perfect division for our party. For this encounter, let's go with the way they were just called:
Resistance: Fidget
Weapon: Nat
Cloudwalking: Valeria
Disguise: Tiknesr
For the long term, I suggest:
Cloudwalking: Tik or Valeria (great for staying safe with 30' range hexes, or short range archery)
Sacred Weapon: Nat, Valeria, or Fidget (the 3 of us who plan to attack most with weapons)
Resistance: Fidget, Nat, or Tik (the first two because they'll probably absorb a lot of damage, the third because he'll have the least HP)
Disguise: Valeria, Nat, or Fidget (depending on (a) who might invest in face skills and (b) who might need the benefits of alter self, e.g. darkvision)
In terms of Disguise, it really offers two types of goodies:
(1) Alter Self gives access to some cool abilities (darkvision, scent, swimming) plus
(2) a bonus to Bluff evil folks, which I *have* to think will come in handy.
Do any of us plan on taking Bluff at some point? I think this scale will be most useful to someone who either (a) doesn't have darkvision, or (b) one of the three party members with a positive charisma. Since Tik already has darkvision and scent -- and has a 7 CHA -- I suspect he's the party member with the least use for it...though in the end if noone sees a need for alter self or a bluff bonus then Tik can certainly take it.

As far as the scales go, I looked at the remaining two like this:
Both of us stand out in a crowd, you for being a rat folk, me for being physically attractive. I figured the most negative situations we run into will likely revolve around your mousieness. If at any point you want the Cloudwalking scale, just let me know and we can trade.

Valeria, that's reasonable. In some parties I think Tik would be in a lot of trouble without a defensive item like that. In this one, with Nat, Bart,
My other thought is that -- really -- Ruarc is the one person in the party with ranks in Bluff. Jelani, I know your intent was for each PC to get one, but I don't see any in game reason for Tik to carry it instead of Ruarc...and (as a player) I certainly don't mind.
Jelani, if there's a reason I'm not aware of that each PC should have a scale, let us know. Otherwise, my vote is that Ruarc carry it. If we want to trade around (permanently or temporarily) at some point in the future, we can always discuss more then.

There's no reason, just being nice since I'm the DM. The scales will increase in power over time I'm pretty sure. I haven't read that far ahead in the campaign because you don't have to in PBP, but they should gain additional powers later.
Alter Self is best for turning into a troglodyte. 3 natural attacks, scent and darkvision. Or into something small for stealth purposes. I would give the alter self to Nat, since he has the strength to make trog form sing! Once you can make the knowledge (local) DC 20 check to indentify an Adlet, that's also a great form. Darkvision, cold immunity and a nice bite attack.

I will be leaving for the beach this Saturday morning for roughly a week. My posting will be limited to from my iPad or phone. Shouldn't affect me in the game too much, but don't expect long posts from me during this time either. Hard to type with fat thumbs on a touch screen. Heh.

DM Jelani |

Not sure I want to wander around as a Troglodyte, mechanical benefits not withstanding...
I see it as a combat buff. I wouldn't want to walk around as a trog either. Ruarc will use it if no one else wants to. In the other game I'm playing him in he's in troglodyte form right now. That's also where the status stuff under his name is coming from.

Fidget Pendleton |

Fidget isn't dead set on the Resistance scale, but it would ultimately be more useful than the Disguise one or the Weapon one. Her weapon won't be doing the majority of damage, and she will only have one skill point per level after she starts taking Paladin levels (too dumb for many skillz). She won't be putting any points in Bluff. I don't know how much she'll need the Alter Self function either.

FYI, not that it matters much as I'm going to be primarily built out of prestige classes and it won't advance, taking Abyssal bloodline. Gonna play up the ritual and battle for Valeria's soul as the game progresses.
