I'm building a fletching rogue/synthesist.

This is what I am thinking for the eidolon.
I had straight rogue, but might dip a couple levels to pick up hide in plain sight. Instead of going super-sized, I'm focusing on applying SA damage often, also looking to buy an item that can generate darkness around me.

Thoughts?

With the siege weapon I was thinking of taking the large sized eidolon and wielding a cannon or balista if the cannon is not allowed. Since rapid reload does not work I would be reliant on using lightning reload, firing a single shot a turn, most likely with vital strike. I am thinking of dwarf, because cannons are heavy and because of this guy, human for the extra feats, general usefullness of humans or goblin.
Why goblin? Because if I flavoured the eidolon as a mechanical beast with treads instead of legs and a giant cannon on top in a turret and a goblin in the heart of it pulling levers and such I could create my very own goblin battle tank XD
That. Would. Be. Cool.

Something puzzles me, the eidolon has darkvision and when fused the flavour texts says we perceive through its senses, does that mean that we get darkvision as part of the deal?

Something was afoot in the Witch Queen’s realm; Gror could smell it. The elders nodded when he tried to rally them, but they were moving too slowly, if at all. The Blackravens were active, but not disciplined, not strategic enough -- moving, but not in the right direction.

OK then, for now I’ll scout alone. With luck perhaps I’ll uncover enough to shake a force into action.

Gror started cautiously, methodically making forays into Irissen territory. Just scouting, unless he saw an easy patrol to bring down. He was looking for information right now, not trouble. It was slow going, but the bite of the cold and the wind was oddly comforting: he was out. He was facing whatever was coming, not wasting away in the comfort of the Keep as trouble brewed.

Long days passed, with nothing much to show for them. Leads kept turning into dead ends. Gror’s certainty was unabated, but his supplies were getting depleted. With a heavy heart, he packed his backpack to return toward the Land of the Linnorm Kings, when...

Her chest-length, midnight black curls wave gently in an unseen wind, as she extends one perfect hand out towards you, a look of urgency in her iridescent blue eyes.

Gror stared briefly. He squinted at her. Was this some Irrisen witchery? Some demonic trick? No, he was certain. She was what she claimed.

He had prayed each night for Angradd and Torag to send him the strength he needed to confront the the witches of Irrisen. Those sorts of prayers weren’t always answered...but this might be the aid he sought.

He nodded to the Archon. ”Very well, Mariah. I think your god and I might be on the same trail, and I’ll make alliance with anyone I need to, to abate the darkness I see on the horizon.”

With that took her hand.

I just realized that I wrote bipedal, but Vega is serpentine. Whoops.

lol, no worries. Serpentine base form, but I gave it limbs (legs) evolution anyways (so it kinda is bipedal in form... bipedal-serpentine... yeah, a both really. *shrugs*).

Besides - from what I can tell - you need limbs of any sort to be able to cast spells while fused, and it seems that you also use your eidolons base speed for movement while fused, and serpentine without legs has only a speed of 20 (so those legs get me back up to normal medium sized speed of 30).

(I feel like I'm rambling incoherently... *slowly steps away from the computer*)

Validk - Shadow blend/shadow form will let you roll stealth without hide in plain sight. As long as you have concealment or cover, you can roll stealth. I would recommend the scout archetype, you don't lose much and get sneak when moving. Synth/rogue is a solid option. The example character I linked in the OP is only 6th level, but he just did ~130 damage to a Devourer with a single full attack in the game he's in. I mean I had haste, and evo surged a gore attack...but yeah. Another idea for you would be to rearrange some stuff and make him small or tiny. That way you get boni to stealth and to-hit. Your claw's weapon damage die already sucks, so moving it down to 1d3 or 1d2 wouldn't be a big loss.

Gobo - I won't allow lightning reload to work with siege engines, that's just too OP, sorry. The only ones I'd say are small enough to wield are the Light ballista or cannon. Cannon has a 3 full round reload time. the master siege engineer feat can reduce it to three move actions. The light ballista would only need a move action to reload because you are large, master siege engineer could reduce that to a swift. Keep in mind ballista bolts are 10 GP and 10 lbs. each while cannon balls are 30 GP and 25 lbs. each. If you want a more managable option, you could just get a large sized double hackbut. The medium one is already a mini-cannon. Large would be as good as the ballista and way less headache than a cannon. Hackbut.

Big OM - Yeah, you get darkvision.

Gror - Mostly looks good, but you can't take that tentacle evolution. It puts you over your 5 attack limit. Your claws count as hands for spellcasting. You can replace it with a tail or something else.

Everyone - Only three more days until recruitment closes! If completed submissions don't pick up it might just be the first six people to finish.

Ye Olde Liste of Applicants
Vega Surtova Human Monk (of various archetpyes) 12 [serpentine super monk; defensive]

Gror Durrikson Dwarf Inquisitor (Spellbreaker) 12 [bipedal melee gargoyle; offensive]

Thanks Jelani. Can I use wands/rods in my foreclaws? If not, could I use them with a tail?

Grand Lodge

Sheet converted to text, I'll write some more background for him and add a description.

Everyone - Limbs (Arms) gives you hand like appendages that can do anything a hand can do. Adding claws to them doesn't change that.

Hey DM, to clarify, Gror's Eidolon doesn't have limbs (arms). He's a quadruped and so has limbs (legs) x2. If you're alright with him having hand-like forepaws anyway, awesome.

If you'd prefer a 1 pt evolution (prehensile tail? hands on his forepaws?) that gives him hand-like abilities (excluding weapon usage or natural attacks), that works for me too.

If neither of those works, let me know and I'll go back to the drawing board. Basically, I want to create a quadruped with 4 limbs (and an optional functional tail) that can use a wand/rod, open doors, etc...but that isn't adding an extra set of arms, or an additional attack.

Thanks again.

Unrelated, some Eidolon inspirations from 80's D&D art (available to any, since I've already got mine, or just to enjoy):

Winged panther from D.A. Trampier's old Wormy comic in Dragon and again

This classic piece by Bill Willingham screams Halfling Oracle | Summoner (Synthesist) to me.

And if you want to get further out there: a very different D.A. Trampier illustration, the Intellect Devourer is hard to beat.

OK, this last one's from Fables in the 2000's, but since it's written by Willingham maybe it counts? Anyway, I'm a big James Jean fan, and this would make an epic wolf eidolon

I will post all the info for my gnome Oracle of the Heavens soon. This is my eidolon.

Gror - Probably best way to do it is forgo the rake and take a tentacle. Not as optimal, but gives you the ability to cast spells and do basic object manipulation. In fact that's really the only way to do it without hands. If you want to go bipedal form and reflavor the front arms as walking appendages like a gorilla I'm cool with that too, but then you can't get pounce.

This is Gobo Hordes submission, its still being built but I got some things to iron out.

Awwww :( I agree that lightning reload and cannons is powerful. Pity. Would you be willing to reconsider?

Master siege engineer could work, it would reduce the firerate to every other round, the biggest issue is that my 11th feat and my 12th bonus feat are already being taken up by signature deed and improved vital strike. I would have to replace one of them for it...
I am well aware of the costs and weight of siege weapons and their ammunition ^<>^ I am a large quadruped with 22 str, muleback chords AND ant haul and I still might be stuck in medium load :[ The cost of ammunition is also staggering, thankfully I will only be firing one bullet a round (possibly every other round) so the costs are largely more manageable. There are also ways of recycling or at least reducing the costs that I plan on taking advantage of.
Remember, it also takes 10 doses of gunpowder to fire the thing!
How are you for this reducing the cost of cannons/cannonballs?
Guns Everywhere wrote:
Firearms are simple weapons, and early firearms, advanced guns, and their ammunition are bought or crafted for 10% of the cost listed in this chapter.

BTW in one of my previous threads I was told that the weight of a cannon was 4000lbs. I cant seem to find it right now, but is that what we are using?

As for the double hackbut, it has 2d12 damage as medium, large it is 6d6, the same as a cannon. it is also a two-handed weapon so musket master can reload it for free, it takes 1/10th the amount of blackpowder, bullets cost less than half the price, the weight is astronomically lower, costs less, the price to enchant it is not doubled, takes less feats to make work (no vital strike chain), can full attack with rapid shot and haste, and I dont think that a serpintine eidolon can be knocked prone (having no legs and slithering on the ground already), not that it is a big determent. Its only downside compared to the cannon is that it has half the range.
A vital striking cannon deals 18d6 +x, as a single shot, A rapid shooting, hasted Hackbut would deal 6d6+x/6d6+x/6d6+x/6d6+x/6d6+x, or 30d6+ 5 times x. And you could hit multiple targets.

If you are allowing the double hackbut, then please reconsider lightning reload? I like the look of a single, giant cannon over the rapid firing hackbut, and I am literally bending over backwards just for the privilege of using it ;)
BTW, if Lightning reload is out, how about Reloading hands or beneficial bandolier?

I am not trying to work around you, but this is not the most powerful thing that I could create, especially in a gestalt synthisist campaign that is intended to be highly optimized :P Sorry for the long post everybody!

You can always call the tentacle a tail ^-^

Hey nice nice. You want to say that we are from the same tribe or something? Have the gobos unite! Infest Jelanis thread with goblins! Come on everybody, all build gobos and change the face of this campaign into a goblin one!
Teeny greeny fist bump all!

I just wanted to note that this is rapidly turning into the strangest build I have ever created. I think I'm plummeting into the mad depths of grappler dwarf dragon totem barbarian.

On that note, a couple of questions: First, I don't suppose I can take the wing buffet evolution, despite not having the flight (wings) evolution, if I have wings from another source (namely, the Dragon Totem Wings rage power)? Totally can't, as written, but it seemed worth asking.

Second - The Dragon Resilience rage power is a bit weird, and there seems to be something of a debate on the boards about how it works. Rather than jump to my own conclusions, I thought I'd just lay it in front of you and as: In your game, does that power increase a barbarian's damage reduction?

Kommander Killjoy - I wasn't thorough enough before in my understanding of the siege weapon rules, now I am. You have two options here. A) Use normal firearms rules and the double hackbut. B) Use a cannon with the siege weapon rules found here. That means you can't pick it up and carry it around like a gun. It's not a firearm, its a gunpowder siege weapon. It has a wooden frame, wheels and a fuse. It takes an hour to assemble. However you would be proficient with it, and as a large creature count as 4 crew members. Since you are large you would take no penalties to attack rolls either. In combat it will function as a siege weapon, not a firearm. That means (assuming you have Master Siege Engineer) it takes a move action to aim it, and then 3 move actions to reload it. With a move action you can pick up the back of it and wheel it 10 feet a round. No feats, abilities or items that say they can be used with a firearm can be used with a cannon. However since reloading hands says ranged weapon or firearm, I will be nice and allow that to reload a cannon. Even though technically that's also illegal as again, the cannon is not a ranged weapon or firearm, it's a siege weapon. Nothing else that specifies a weapon type other than siege will work with siege weapons though (if a feat ability like vital strike says something like "use the attack action" it can be used with siege weapons. As long as the ability doesn't specify a weapon type, eg. ranged, melee, thrown, etc)

I'm sorry if that sh*ts on your vision, but find me another DM who's willing to let you create a goblin inside a giant snake wielding a large sized double hackbut (which would be a cannon by it's very definition:A large, heavy piece of artillery, typically mounted on wheels, formerly used in warfare. Check, check, check.) or take a siege weapon into a dungeon.

Bognus - You dragon wings will be absorbed inside your eidolon, so no on the wing buffet. Keep in mind you lose your movement speeds/forms from your base form when bonded. The rage power seems really straight forward to me. If you have DR 2/- from barbarian and three dragon totem powers you now have Resist X 8. It does not give you DR 8/-. That would be completely out of balance with all the other rage powers and requires a misattribution of "this DR" to the barbarian's overall DR, when it is in fact referring to the DR being calculated for the resistance.

Ha! In that case I will go with option A. I can still make it work just fine with the double hackbut and still get the look/feel I want :)
I will have to change a few things but thanks for hearing me out and allowing me that delirious little trip, even if it was short lived ^-^
It looks like I will be building a goblin inside a snake wielding a double hackbut ;P how's that for the mad depths of insanity Bluebeard?

That's a fair reading of the resilience power.

Erg, though: I totally hadn't yet put together that you lose your own movement types when bonded. Not getting to fly rather defeats a large portion of my purpose in heading down the dragon totem tree. I think I may have to change that up. On the other hand, as long as I'm not getting my movement increase from regular barbarian, I may as well switch over to Drunken Brute on top of Brutal Pugilist.

In fact, now I'm thinking about it, will I still get to use my bite attack from Animal Fury, or any other natural attacks I pick up from barbarian junk? Or...oh, crap. Even Rage. I'd like to think so ("While fused with his eidolon, the synthesist can use all of his own abilities and gear, except for his armor"), but if the wing bit doesn't work for you, then that stuff might also be off the table. If so, let me know, I may actually have to rethink concept. Sorry about all this confusion - this is, shall we say, an...unorthodox thing we're attempting here. I think I can just rejigger all this into Fighter, if necessary, or if worse comes to worse, I've got another idea in mind that could use some of the same numbers (so less work for me, yay).

Ok Nice Nice finished crunch, now nice nice tell story how he get name nice nice. He is based off a goblin we picked up in a runelords campaign. Never knew what happened to him after he got away so I like the idea of him continuing what our party cleric started teaching him.

Long story:
So Nice Nice grow up like all goblin. Me bite things, me smack things, me make war for tribe and raid stuffs. Grow up member of Thistle tops, big strong goblin tribe. Me think we strongest goblins in world. Then stupid shiny lady come and make all gobbos work together. We so strong we attack sandpoint longshanks town much burn burn. Oh but that end so badly.

Longshanks come to thistletop. Longshank kill chief Ripnugget and dey take off Gogmurt head clean rip. I no want to die, so I scream no kill me. Dey kill all other gobbo but nice lady with pretty roses everywhere throw herself in front of nice nice. She say no kill gobo he surrender. Me so happy me no die, me get on ground and snivel like grub grub worm.

Me think me be getting away, make stupid longshank look stupid. But den nice lady start give me food lots, she so nice to nice nice. Let him pick new name. Teach him of Shelyn love. Lady paints face wear roses all time so nice to nice nice he swear he save her.

Then we go big city and skinsaw man with face like hate kill all friends, me not happy but me run. Come back later when stronger kill skinsaw and him whole tribe. Me show dem not hurt people. Now me protect people and help as best can. Me good gobo, and me try teach other gobbo be good too.

Also should be done I think. Please let me know if I missed anything.

Bognus - You can still rage, sure. Any natural weapons your rage gives you, your eidolon will grow instead of your body. If the wings are coming from a rage power, and only exist when you're raging then they'd still work.

Bitey - I will look over your character in detail later, but right off the bat your AC is way too low. Bonded it should be a minimum of 31 (+5 dex, +12 natural armor, +4 greater shielded meld)

Hey Jelani, so I think I'm right here but wanted to check. So if I take Slam to replace my claws I go to just one attack? Correct? I don't think I get 2 slams. If this is correct is it cool to take extral lims to get an additional slam, but to not have 4 arms. Example I pay for the limbs and and 2 slams one on the new limbs and one on the other. I know its nop optimal, but I envision Colossus beating with his 2 large fist with a kick and maybe a head but. I just hate the idea of how for arms would look. So wanted to ask thanks.

to clear up as the above is kind of wordy.

Biped: replace free claws with slam, add slam to Legs for a kick, buy new lims arm and add slam but look like I only have the normal two arms.

Ashe - Yeah, the slam is considered like a double hammer fist or something. I mean, if you want to pay for four arms, but only take two just so that you can have two slam attacks that's fine. It's the same effect/cost and you're accepting a voluntary loss to fit your character image. I can respect that. As for putting a third slam on the legs, no. The evolution specifically states arms. If you want to evolve two more invisible non-existant arms and put them third slam on them, that's fine.

Is improved natural attack feat allowed? Not sure about it just keeping option open

Can I take a tentacle for 1pt, but voluntarily decline it's ability to attack? It will have less functionality than normal tentacle has at the same cost...and it won't put me over the attacks limit (without losing Rake).

(Or if it seems cleaner to you, would you rule that a tail can be used for basic object manipulation?)

On another note, I'm having fun seeing the (complete and partial) submissions coming in. Some great, colorful options.

Bognus, sounds like a fun character! If they fit your flavor, I suspect the superstitious/spell sunder abilities would be quite useful. (And a large Mounted Fury eidolon riding a mammoth sounds pretty cool as well!)

Sure Gror. The tentacle-tail can't make attacks or wield weapons.

Great. Updated profile. Also realized I'd missed +4 to natural armor (from being a quadruped and being large) so added those.

Lol, can you tell I don't play summoners :P Also I know he should know more spells than what he has memmed, but he is not bright enough to care as those are the only ones he thinks will be super useful.

Yar!

Even better then, as summoners are spontaneous casters. No preparation/memorization necessary, they just know a selection of spells and can cast any combination of them whenever they want/can.

:D

Here's my writing sample. I've got all my info in my profile pretty much, just need to clean it up a bit.

Poppy sat on the end of the bed in her hotel room, slowly folding her clothes and reminiscing about the past three months spent in Oppara. It’s always good to get out of the adventuring grind and do something FUN for a little while. Especially in the big city. She had been extremely busy, however; planning the reception for a noble wedding was no small feat. The big party had been a few days previous, and she was definitely glad it was over. She would finish one more job, then move on to somewhere else. I suppose next I’ll head to the countryside and visit some hospitals. She picked up a piece of paper lying nearby on the bed. Or this. The paper was a message from the mayor of a small city elsewhere in Taldor, asking for help from all magic-users in dealing with a particularly vexing horde of goblins.

A loud knock on the door tore her out of her reverie. ”Who is it?” she asked in her high-pitched, adorable voice. Passing the mirror on her way to answer the door, she briefly checked her shoulder-length bright red hair and adjusted her ostenatiously poofy lime green princess dress. She pulled the door open, and found a well manicured but harried-looking woman in her early 30s on the other side. Before the woman could even open her mouth, Poppy’s eyes grew wide and she blurted out, ”Madame Laurent! I’m so sorry! I lost track of time! I’ll be ready right away.”

”Thank the Crown Prince, I was worried you’d forgotten! We’ll be in the ballroom.” With that, the woman spirited down the hallway and down the stairs out of sight. Poppy quickly closed the door, then threw on a few crystal necklaces, a matching pair of earrings, and some truly obnoxious rings. She put on a shimmering orange hat nearly taller than she was before pulling on her gold leather shoes and dashing out the door.

* * * *

Poppy stood before the entrance to the grand ballroom of the hotel and took several deep breaths. You can do this. You’ve fought beings from other planes. You’ve convinced heads of state to go to war. Just open the door. From the other side of the door, Poppy could hear chaotic shouting and insane laughter. It sounded like tables were being overturned in a reckless frenzy. Go.

She plastered an enormous smile on her face and pushed open the double doors. She spread out her arms and a dazzling rainbow shot out of each hand all the way to the ballroom’s high ceiling. Dozens of little voices breathed, ”Wooooooooooow!” She did a twirl and sashayed onto a stage on one side of the room. She stopped in the middle of the stage and conjured a small garden scene made entirely out of sunlight. She sniffed a sunshine flower, waved with both hands and called out, ”Happy birthday, Stephanie!”

Approximately 25 five-year-old girls sat riveted on tiny chairs facing the stage. In the middle of the first row, a brown-haired girl dressed in a purple party dress and a little silver tiara clapped excitedly. Poppy smiled again and a puppy made of thousands of tiny twinkling stars appeared in her hands. The puppy leapt down from the stage and bounded joyfully into the little girl’s lap. Then, five more star puppies appeared out of Poppy’s hands and ran around the chairs, stopping to play with the rest of the girls. The girls clapped in utter delight. ”Make a dolphin! Make a dolphin!” the birthday girl squealed.

As Poppy did her best to entertain the small army of noble children, she became distracted by the parents standing in the back of the room having a cocktail while they kept an eye on their daughters. One of the moms stood out to her in particular. She was supernaturally pale, even paler than Poppy. Her ivory above-the-knee sheath dress was receding into her flesh until it completely disappeared, leaving only skin the color of marble. Naked at a children’s party? I just don’t understand human fashions! The woman stared directly at Poppy. Suddenly, the cheering children froze and were silent. The parents stopped chatting and stood in their places. The star puppies, rainbows, and sunlight garden disappeared. Only Poppy and the naked woman were still able to move, think, or speak.

With a flash of bright white light, the lithe and beautiful nude woman appeared directly in front of her, covering the entire distance of the room in a split second. She hovered serenely upon powerful white wings. "Fear not mortal, I mean you no harm," she said in the Gnomish tongue. "My name is Mariah. I am an Archon of Iomedae, The Inheritor." Her voice was like beautiful music, pure and without fault. She carried a long thin gleaming silver trumpet that was covered in swirling, natural-looking patterns. "I am here because your deeds are known to us. My mistress bids me invite you to take part in mission of dire importance. Events have been set in motion that if not stopped, will lead to a terrible evil being unleashed on Golarion. We have prepared a gift for you that will make you stronger than you've ever been before, hopefully strong enough to avert disaster. My commander awaits us, with answers for your questions. Time is of the essence, will you come with me?" Her chest-length, midnight black curls waved gently in an unseen wind, as she extended one perfect hand toward Poppy, a look of urgency in her iridescent blue eyes.

Poppy’s stomach leaped for a split second, but her fear turned into awe and then into admiration. She looked straight up at Mariah’s face, clasped her hands in front of her chest, and said, ”You are SO GORGEOUS! How do you do it?” Poppy lowered her arms and glanced down at both of her shoulders. ”I wish I had wings.”

The Archon cocked her head in confusion. ”How do I do what?”

“Look so glowing and glamorous!”

”I don’t understand. Don’t try to distract me. I told you, time is of the essence!”

Poppy shrugged her shoulders. ”Well, after this party, I’m free for the foreseeable future. But I need to finish my show, or I’ll get a bad reputation in this city, and these nobles pay lots of money for my appearances and parties.”

”Worry not, little gnome. Your reputation will not be damaged, I assure you.”

Poppy thought for a second, then clapped her hands in glee. ”Hmmm… okay! Well, let me grab my bag from my hotel room and we’ll be off!”

”And Miss Pendleton… one more thing…” The Archon’s placid face suddenly twisted into a fearsome sneer. ”I know what you’ve been summoning from the deep reaches of space. You’d better not be doing that in the service of any of your… less savory employers while you’re working for me. Save that kind of magic for the service of good.”

Poppy’s eyes grew wide with terror and she fell back as though she had been shoved, but the white woman hadn’t moved her body an inch. ”I-I-I didn’t realize anyone knew anything about all that,” the little gnome squeaked. ”S-s-sorry my lady. I’ll only summon the dark helpers in your service. I swear it.”

”Pay no mind to it. Unless you break your word. Now, we have to go. I'll teleport you to your hotel room to collect your things. Then we must be off.”

I'll look at scout, thanks for the tip with shadow blend, that's what I was looking for. To get small, I have to be a small race. Only other one that was thematic was wayang, but they aren't featured.

Gnome and halfing would mechanically work, but lose the flavor of the shadow connection.

Hi. Waterhammer here. Trying to make the deadline. :) This will be my alias. Very much a work in progress at this point. The Summoner part of the Gestalt is up. Going Cleric for the other class. Very much a support oriented character. Once I finish the Cleric half I'll squish the two together.

Anyway, the story.

Brujeka:
Erik and Gwendolyn Garfisher had a daughter. She was born on a pleasant day at the height of summer. They named her Brujeka after a warrior-queen of old.
Life is tough in the harsh Northern Lands of the Linnorm Kings, but Brujeka's childhood was pleasant enough. The Garfisher farm was fertile and Yew Creek, a small tributary of the mighty Rimeflow provided far more Salmon than it did the ferocious Gar, that was the family namesake. Even so, the North is unforgiving. One ofBrujeka's older brothers was carried away in a spring runoff. She lost a younger sister to a fever sickness. The Winter Witches were blamed of course, but the child died before a priest could be brought.

The Linnorm Ulfen people are not great fans of the Witches of Irrisen, anyway, but Brujeka holds a special vendetta against them. There is no doubt in her mind that they caused the death of her little sister. When she was old enough to fight, Brujeka joined the ranks of the Blackravens. Those doughty warriors made her quite welcome, due to her impressive skill as a healer.

Brujika gained those powers as a Priestess of Erastil. She was out looking for ptarmigan eggs for the family table. Still only eleven years old, but armed with a sling and butcher knife. Ulfen children are taught to hunt and defend themselves as they learn to walk. It was such a pleasant warm day, Brujeka felt as if she were sleepwalking. Her feet led her to a small yew tree sapling. Still feeling as if she were dreaming, she took out the large, sharp butcher knife and began to carve the sapling. When she was done her hands were blistered, but she held a finely carved bow-stave. Tired and egg-less she made her way home. Her parents did not scold her. Asking where she had found such a perfect bow, and sized just right for her; Brujeka answered: "I just carved it Da. Like in a dream.
The girl's parents knew this could be naught other than a sign from Erastil. They made sure she got lessons from the circuit priest when he came through the nearby village.
Brujeka proved to be an apt pupil. The circuit priest soon realized that she was surpassing his skill, so he arranged for Brujeka to travel to the chapter house in Trollheim. There she learned more of the ways of Erastil and met, and joined the Blackravens.

Brujeka had many adventures with the Blackravens. Many narrow escapes, both raiding into Irrisen and repelling the monsters that seem to flow endlessly from that winter-bound nation.

It was during this time she met Ordvar Oakthorn. A tall handsome Ulfen man with black hair and mustache. He was as attracted to her as she was to him. Before long they both decided to leave the Blackravens. Brujeka was going to have a baby.

Properly married, the new family moved back to Yew Creek. Ordvar set up as a blacksmith, as he was quite skilled.

Brujeka gave birth to a fine boy, that they called Ardain.

Five years passed in bliss. Brujeka takes care of the area. If there is sickness she is there to tend to it. If trolls attack, both she and Ordvar are there to face the menace.

Brujika is out hunting when the Archon of Iomidae appears. She immediately realizes she must accept the calling.
"Can I say goodby to my family before I go?"
Brujeka knows her duty, but she has an obligation to her husband and son as well.

Eidolon Base Forms wrote:
Each eidolon has one of three (four if using Ultimate Magic) base forms that determines its starting size, speed, AC, attacks, and ability scores. All natural attacks are made using the eidolon’s full base attack bonus unless otherwise noted (such as in the case of secondary attacks). Eidolon attacks add the eidolon’s Strength modifier to the damage roll, unless it is its only attack, in which case it adds 1-1/2 times its Strength modifier. These base forms also note any free evolutions that base form possesses. The bonuses from these free evolutions are already factored into the starting statistics. Alternatively, any one of these base forms can be used to make a Small eidolon. If the eidolon is Small, it gains a +2 bonus to its Dexterity score. It also takes a –4 penalty to its Strength and a –2 penalty to its Constitution. It also gains a +1 size bonus to its AC and attack rolls, a –1 penalty to its CMB and CMD scores, a +2 bonus on its Fly skill checks, and a +4 bonus on its Stealth skill checks. Reduce the damage of all of its attacks by one step (1d6 becomes 1d4, 1d4 becomes 1d3). If this choice is made, the eidolon can be made Medium whenever the summoner can change the eidolon’s evolution pool (which causes it to lose these modifiers for being Small).

Even if your base form is medium, you can make your eidolon small. You just shrink when you bond it.

Poppy/Bujeka - I should have time to look over your guy's profiles and give you some feedback later tonight.

I read this on the Synthesist page:
"The eidolon must be at least the same size as the synthesist."

Difficult to stuff a medium creature into a small suit of armor.

DM Jelani wrote:

DM, I think that's a perfectly reasonable house rule -- I like it -- but I believe it contradicts the following text from the Synthesist description:

Synthesist wrote:

If you're comfortable with it, great. If not, Permanency + Reduce Person is pretty cheap as a backup option. Your call as to if it could be cast on the Eidolon only, or if the fetchling needs to be small all the time. But there must be some interesting backstory for why s/he was permanently shrunk...

Yar!

Okay, Vega's final bits of minutia should be all be in now (with hyperlinks for easy referencing). Please let me know if I missed anything or messed something up so I can fix it. I am also happy to explain anything that may be unclear.

Quick note: I switched out the evolution Limbs (legs) for Limbs (arms) simply to make sure that I can still flurry and cast spells while fused. That is well worth the slight hit in movement speed. Plus I hope to spend as much time fused as possible, as Vega sees it (the syntheses) as the next step in his training and progress to true enlightenment, and the "summoning ritual" is now just a regular part of his morning exercise routine, so he's going to need hands (not feet) in order to do other everyday and mundane tasks.

His "legs" will thus be a long, powerful, legless tail that looks like flowing robes long enough to hide legs underneath and which also trail a fair ways behind him. Any tail attacks he does will look like a spinning kick with the "robes" whirling about towards his target.

Earlier I mentioned that his Eidolon (or Anima as Vega calls it) looks simply like an energy flowing out from Vega's normal form. I'd like to keep that image, with the occasional wisp of light flowing and rotating around him at a decent length. (even if that means his Anima - if on it's own - would look like a glowing modified version of Vega, the "light" actually being solid, possibly looking like snake fangs at the right angle, constantly whirling about it's "torso" that looks like a robed Vega, it's tail looking like extremely long robes that are so long they trail on the ground and float in the air behind itself... or - my preference - just having the appearance of radiating morphic light and cloth/robes without any actual mechanical benefits to match).

Keeping with that, his "bite" attack would then look just like his normal punches, save that the glowing and whirling energy around him would flow through his fists and continue out from his punch like a blast of fang/snake-head shaped energy, thrusting out an extra 5' (representing the "Bite's" natural reach) and piercing his targets.

I see Validk pointed out the same text.

On another note, I'm excited to see (potential) rogues and clerics/oracles joining the pool.

Brujeka, it seems likely we would've worked together, before your retirement. Hopefully we'll get a chance to again!

Bognus we might not have crossed paths, but (despite your more chaotic tendencies) Gror has great respect for your deeds...and wishes for heroes of your mettle to fight back the Witch Queen with.

And Vega, I'm liking your Anima spin. Great concept.

*bows respectfully to Gror Durrikson*

"Thank you."

10th post, looks like I am sticking with this name :P hence the low amount of posts :)

I have a few questions, comments that have been building up for a while so here is a good time to ask them.

Magic Items. You said no custom items, does that extend to combining items? It wont really affect me, so this is mostly for others. The only things that I would combine would be a belt of dex and a Beneficial Bandolier, a circlet of persuasion and headband of cha, a gunfighters poncho and a cloak of resistance. I am already way overbudget so scrapping the bandolier, circlet and poncho will be easy :)

The form of the submissions. You gave an example of how you wanted the submissions to be handed in but I am realizing that my non-fused form and my fused form are so vastly different that I have been building 2 sets of crunch and had to spoiler them to prevent a giant wall of text. I hate spoilering my crunch, it makes it harder to read them at a glance. You mind just going over how exactly you want the stats again? (think small goblin wielding small shotgun and large tank wielding large cannon, covered in armor and defensive mechanisms, large difference)

Equipment and whos carrying what. Certain items are only going to be used when I am in one form or other (ex the large hackbut and barrels of gunpowder on the large eidolon and the small shotgun on the small goblin as well as different sized ammunition). Can I have some gear "disappear" when the eidolon is dismissed/killed or do I have to carry EVERYTHING on my str 7, small sized goblin :)
Depending on the answer i will have to rather radically change my equipment (the latter would require muleback chords and ant haul most likely).

Ioun stones. You said we are using Ioun stones and wayfinders. I just want to check, are we allowed to implant them? And can we assume that we got them implanted a ways back in our career, and are we allowed to pay someone to do the heal/arcane check or do we have to do that to ourselves? Since the only downside to the checks is time, can we assume that we succeeded on a 20? (just do it over and over and over again, resting to heal inbetween each time as necessary) I dont have a whole lot of skills so I intend to save any where I can :P

@ Nice Nice:
(I like the name, easy to remember :D). I notice that you are taking a level of oracle for the fatigue immunity. Is there any other particular draw for this or is this purely a mechanical tax? If the later, might I suggest staying barbarian for the 12th level, taking the Internal Fortitude rage power as your 12th level power and going with a Flawed Scarlet and Green Cabochon? You become sickened every time you would normally become fatigued and become immune to the sickened effect (aka ragecycling at level 8), as bonuses you can stick the ioun stone in a wayfinder and forget about it and you gain endurance as a bonus feat and you become immune to nauseated and you get to stay pure barbarian. its a way better tradeoff.

2nd. If/since we are allowed to take monster feats you might want to look at the Noxious Bite feat. It is normally stupidly hard to get access to but summoners can take the breath weapon evolution (incredibly good) to qualify for it. I dont know if you can squeeze in the evolution points and feat but it would be great for you build :) You get a 12d6 damage breath weapon that automatically hits when your target is in your mouth (this should happen often for a biter gobo :P). since you should have at least a 17 con, and raging to make it 23, your noxious bite will nauseate people for 6 rounds. That is 6 rounds of uselessness, And best part is that they become totally screwed when you bite them because it is a standard action to escape a grapple and they can only take move actions XD

3rd. You might want to take a look at Juggernauts Pauldrons because you can stack it with the large evolution for huge size. Then you can bite just about anyone, your bites do more damage, you bet better CMB/CMD, extra str, plus other things :)
That and Amulet of grappling :)
Just a suggestion.

4th. Lunge feat, reach. You already have reach, so lunge would just be a bonus, but reach and grappling is beautiful :)

Grapple wrote:
If you successfully grapple a creature that is not adjacent to you, move that creature to an adjacent open space (if no space is available, your grapple fails).

It dosent have to be the nearest open space, just any open space adjacent to you. This means that you can grapple a target behind a wall and whip it over you head and behind you. It is now out of cover and completely exposed to all of your allies (aka soon to be dead). This is the real way to reposition someone :D (reposition is broken, it is so horrible :P)

Sorry to pick on you Nice Nice, I just really want to have gobos in this campaign and I like yours and hope to offer some friendly advice :)
Feel free to ignore any of it ^-^
Again, sorry everyone for the long post :P its been building up.

I'm currently working on an Elven Wizard with a Conjuration/Teleportation Focus. We could use some arcane support, and I am picturing her as something on a tactician: calling up some summons and then Dimension Dooring around the battlefield to put them in the right spot.

Arnt we all part summoners so arnt we all arcane support? Saying that, focusing on the arcane wouldnt be a bad idea :)

Mentioning enlarge person to Nice Nice, I had the idea "why not make the tank enlarged?"
Go for a huge tank trundling around the battlefield XD I would have to up the hackbut to huge size as well, take another -2 to dex, have troubles in small spaces but it could work.
Your thoughts GM? Might be too much? The damage would increase again to 8d6 i believe.
I dunno, I wont go that route unless you give me a good solid go.

BTW, I got rid of the circlet and poncho, so the only thing I would combine would be the beneficial bandolier, solely for the 200 round carrying capacity :)

Ah, nother question. I am picking up a good chunk of bane bullets. Any in particular that I should get that you might be willing to divulge?

DM Jelani wrote:
Bognus - You can still rage, sure. Any natural weapons your rage gives you, your eidolon will grow instead of your body. If the wings are coming from a rage power, and only exist when you're raging then they'd still work.

Oh! Okay then. In that case, I'm very nearly done over here. I've got to work out some of the details in my background, and figure out a whole bunch of the derived numbers, but all of the major crunch choices have been made and recorded.

Everyone - Yeah missed that caveat in Synthesist about the size. I would be fine with a permanent reduce person if that's what you want Validk. If anyone wants to imbed ioun stones, your character has to be able to make all the checks necessary by taking 20 him/herself. Combining magic items via the normal rules is fine, you just can't craft them yourself.

Kommandar - Format wise I either want one stat block with everything non-eidolon fused on the left side of "/", stats that change when fused on the right side of "/"s. Just like the example I linked. Things that you only have when bonded (natural attacks etc) you can just list. It will be presumed that you are bonded with your eidolon all the time unless you are sleeping or woke up less than a minute ago, or it gets dismissed or something.

OR

If you want to do the work you can make two complete stat blocks (one for each form) and spoiler them seperately. I actually hate it when every single thing has a spoiler (ala spoiler for statistics, spoiler for feats, etc). It's much fast and easier to read for me if it's in the standard paizo creature stat block formula.

As for who's carrying equipment, like I stated above it's assumed you'll be bonded the whole time basically, you are one creature. So yeah, you have to carry everything you want. If you lose your eidolon, your goblin is gonna be screwed (same goes for everyone basically). That is the hazard of dumping physical stats as a synth.

Using enlarge person to get to huge is legit, however as you said you'd need to purchase a huge hackbut to get any extra damage out of it. The huge hackbut would be unusable when you weren't enlarged.

Bane bullet wise, all I will do if offer a hint. Kostichie is demon lord of giants, and high level adventures usually have evil outsiders and/or undead.

Sweet! Thanks for the reply.

Well I just finished the second stat block, and I got to say, its massively different! Very little is similar between the two and it is like 2 separate characters completely :P

I actually intend to be able to go eidolonless as I built up my guy as a commando kind of guy, completely functional on his own (and still retaining good damage!). Then he hops into his tank. Now the fun begins! As such, he is completely fine in or out :) Go figure. I build a synthesist with good physical stats and dumped mental stats :P

Good to know that I will have to carry everything!!! I am going to have to look hard at them extra-dimensional spaces, ant haul and muleback chords! I am going to have a tank in my pocket -_-

So using enlarge person (permancied or via juggernauts Pauldrons) is legit, but how are you for for it? It would be quite the power boost :P
As for the large/huge hackbut, my small little gobo could never wield it anyways ^-^ No chance. He has a secondary small sized double-barrelled shotgun for that :)

Bane bullets. I am looking at Demons/devils, undead, monstrous humanoids and possibly human :) Thanks for the heads up!

Again, about the combining belts. Can I combine the belt of dex with the beneficial bandolier or do I have to use the weaker endless one? (Weaker as in only 60 capacty compared to 200)

Thanks!

Kommandar - I'm sure you've probably seen this already, but throwing it out there just in case...

Double Hackbut wrote:
It takes a full-round action to set up the carriage. The carriage has a hind leg, allowing the wielder to wheel the device about and immediately prop it for stability during combat. Unlike other two-handed firearms, you must fire the double hackbut while it is mounted, or else firing it imparts a –4 penalty on attack rolls and the recoil knocks the wielder prone. A Large or larger creature can fire a double hackbut one size smaller than it is without its mounting as a normal two-handed weapon and without the danger of being knocked prone, but takes the normal penalty for firing an inappropriately sized weapon.

So if you're huge wielding a huge hackbut, it will be a full round to set up the carriage and then it will do 8d6 damage/shot. You're going to have 12 BAB so three attacks, then add one for rapid shot. So four attacks probably something like 8d6+15ish damage. Does that sound right? Damage will be average of about 156 if there's no DR and all hit.

If all Gror's attacks hit on something he's gonna be doing like 145. Granted, you have a much better chance to hit. Vega might do something like 126, but he's more of a tank. So yeah, you will probably be doing the most damage in the party, but that just paints a big target on your chest. You're not breaking any rules, I'm fine with it. I like optimization.

Quote:

Adding New Abilities (to magic items)

Sometimes, lack of funds or time make it impossible for a magic item crafter to create the desired item from scratch. Fortunately, it is possible to enhance or build upon an existing magic item. Only time, gold, and the various prerequisites required of the new ability to be added to the magic item restrict the type of additional powers one can place.

The cost to add additional abilities to an item is the same as if the item was not magical, less the value of the original item. Thus, a +1 longsword can be made into a +2 vorpal longsword, with the cost to create it being equal to that of a +2 vorpal sword minus the cost of a +1 longsword.

If the item is one that occupies a specific place on a character's body, the cost of adding any additional ability to that item increases by 50%. For example, if a character adds the power to confer invisibility to her ring of protection 2, the cost of adding this ability is the same as for creating a ring of invisibility multiplied by 1.5.

That's how you can combine the belts.

Okay, so I went and looked at some of the profiles again, here's some feedback:

Kommandar - Stat blocks look good. Definitely some impressive optimization there. It's gonna make me cry when I see your permanently huge stat block. You just need to double check crunch details, add a back story, and an appearance description. Then I need your writing sample, and I can add you to the list of completed applicants.

Bognus - As you said yourself, you've got most of the decisions made it looks like. I'll be interested to see it in a stat block format. Just need that, a back story, and an appearance description. Then I need your writing sample, and I can add you to the list of completed applicants.

Brujeka - Still needs quite a bit of work (which I know you know). Can't really comment on the crunch yet. I'd like to see more detail in the back story and writing sample. Use it to show me your writing skills, not just a sentence long response to the archon.

Poppy - Excellent submission. Crunch looks like it's about 99% done, just need to get that finished up by Sunday. Backstory/appearance/personality is good too. A couple small nitpicks/suggestions, why would the devil task her with helping a village defeat an evil wizard? If there's a reason put it in there, it would be cool to know, if there's no reason maybe change it to corrupting the wizard mayor of a small village? Which major politician does she work for? Feel free to make someone up and place them in an appropriate Golarion nation. I think it'd also be nice to make it a contract devil and give it a specific name. Saying "the devil" over and over makes it sound like satan or something. Anyway, good submission. You're on the list.

==================================================
Ye Olde Liste of Applicants

Vega Surtova Human Monk (of various archetpyes) 12 [serpentine super monk; defensive]

Gror Durrikson Dwarf Inquisitor (Spellbreaker) 12 [bipedal melee gargoyle; offensive]

Poppy Pendleton Gnome Oracle of the Heavens 12 [quadruped rainbow unicorn; support oriented]

Hopefully I'll have time at work today and/or tomorrow to reorganize Vega to better match your preference.

Though I will say that some of the reasons I separate everything into individual spoilers is:

  • I think it's easier to see (and audit) how the character got built and advanced over the levels of his career/life that way. Stat blocks are good for snap shots of the current moment, but aren't always clear on how he got there.
  • I personally don't like how some of the standard stat block is organized, for example: CMD being under offense instead of defense. (this always trips me up)
  • I personally find it easier to find specific information by headings rather than looking at and scrolling through a giant wall of stat-block text
  • I find that having separate spoilers for each section makes it easier to include the breakdowns of how everything works without creating lots of clutter, which in turn (I find) makes it easier to modify things as we get buffs and debuffs of various types (some that stack, some that don't, others that are circumstantial, etc) <-- this is probably the biggest reason: to be able to deal with changing circumstances in game. If I have a +5 moral bonus to Climb checks, then mid-game someone casts something on me that gives a +8 moral bonus to climb checks but only when in bright light, it's good to be able to see that info right away when looking at my climb skill modifier. Getting all of that info into a standard stat block - I find - makes it unbearably cluttered.

Of course, I get that few people look at character sheets the way I do. So like I said, I'll try and reorganize Vega to meet your preferences (and keep a separate excel sheet on a USB drive with him organized my way for personal reference).

*is excited to see who all gets in*
