Domingo’s blade whistles out. The rat looks to have it covered, bringing her own sword down to meet it and riposte. But Kennos’ distraction takes her attention for the briefest of moments.
It proves to be enough.
The warrior rakes his sword across her belly, blood and entrails spilling out between her grasping hands. She cries out loudly until a bolt of magical force slams into her head, silencing her squeals. She slumps to the ground before you.

Don Domingo Delagroza
Domingo wipes his blade on the beasts mangy fur and sheathes it before retrieving his larger curved blade .
Turning away from the corpse he smiles at Draz, then winces slightly as his wounds send a fresh wave of pain over him as the adrenalin in his system leeches away.
you have my thanks Draz, I wasn't expecting to be healed mid battle and it was most welcome, that mangy beast caused me more problems than it should have.
he cut me pretty good a few times.
Domingo reaches behind him and drinks one of his potions.

davos that was a hell of a shot with that magic bolt, shooting into combat as well, most impressive my learned friend
Davos Bixby
Davos is relieved the spell did the job before anymore of the party members were hurt, and walks over to Dom and pats him on the shoulder
"Well actually not really too much skill shooting into combat with that spell, will always hit the target if I can see it. But thank you all the same, everyone did well got the job done."
Kennos Slynt
Kennos kicks the dead creature
Well she was a trick b#~@+ to kill, so what was that exactly Davos?Think we will have to fight more?
Kennos wonders over to his whip and picks it up, He takes at peek at the equipment Gelbor has collected up
Some of those things look useful, they could help us through this place we should we take them
He starts to look through the equipment
Rope, grappling hooks and harnesses, guess that why the call them the towers girls, I am guessing you gotta climb to their base

Gelbor stands up from the table as he see's the Rat taken down, and dusts himself off.
"Nice job everyone, let's see what loot it has." Gelbor pats the rat down and makes a note of what it had.
Listening to everyone else Gelbor set's in.
"Or they just use it all to climb about to steal, we'll find out soon if everyone is ready we should move on they might be waiting for us up ahead so keep your eyes peeled.
He takes a look down the other two room's with nothing in them he moves back into the main room.
"Nothing these, when everyone is ready we'll move."
Kennos Slynt
Kennos slots all his weapons back in their proper places and moves into his position with the party marching order Z29 He raised his shield readies his whip and waits for the others to advance

There is an exit south. Realistically, you can't carry all that gear.
You continue down the hall to the south. The smell of roasting meat greets you and several stomachs gurgle hungrily in reply.
B7
A small cook fire has been built in the centre if the floor of the next chamber. Spits hold the carcasses of two large rats above the flame a, the fat spitting and crackling.
The broken scraps of a crate now serving as fuel are stacked nearby and blankets have been pushed together into a large bedroll.
You notice that a door that would be practically invisible to the naked eye, so well is it hidden in the south wall, is currently propped open with a stick of kindling.
B8
The murals in this room are scratched and faded. Several portions of the wall and floor show signs of recent chipping. An empty plinth where a statue once stood rests by a small alcove.
A short walk leads to another room, this one open to the sea air however.
B9
A ledge festooned with old bird nests looks out over a shaft dropping nearly two hundred feet to sea level below. A Marysville of rope sits on the ground near the shaft, one end anchored to a large potion driven into a crack in the wall.
Opposite the shaft is another ledge with a window looking out over Magnimar's harbour. The ceiling is a mere ten feet above, androids crossed by a complex tangle of stone arches that support the roof. Between the two ledges a five foot square wooden platform hangs from four thick ropes that hang from the stone arches. The platform is further anchored by two thick ropes to spikes hammered into the walls near the edge of the western ledge, while another pair of ropes hang from the ceiling above, anchored to a hook driven into the wall near the same ledge.
Big info dump, feel free to role play/ask questions about any part.

Drazhak Grimbold
Drazhak picks up his axe and transfers his holy symbol back to his left hand. "You're very welcome Dom. I realised that your skill with a blade was our best chance of putting that thing down...That and our learned friend's skill in the acrane arts. Also Kennos, you're support kept our hearts strong and true."
Following the others through to the next chamber, Drazhak bends to examine the chips taken out of the walls to see if he can determine the reason.
perception 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 2 = 20 added stonecunning bonus there
While he examines the stonework, Drazhak asks "Can anyone guess the time? How much daylight do you think we have left?"
Don Domingo Delagroza
Moving towards the open doorway, he holds his sword ready.
this must lead to their main camp, if closed not many people would find their way in. We are lucky we caught them off guard.
He can feel a trickle of blood running down his side from where the rat cut him.
i cannot take many more hits like that, do I use my last healing potion or save it? If one of the others gets in trouble ill need it, especially if Draz and kennos go down.
Reaching the door he cautiously looks through

Davos kneels down and looks at the rat
"Well Kennos its just a normal rat actually and by the looks of it has been infected with lycanthropy, we could possible fight several more of these things indeed or other animals with the infection".
Davos walks over the to empty plinth and examines it
Casting detect magic also
Kennos Slynt
Kennos gives Davos a puzzling look
A normal rat? I've seen rats before and not many of the wear armour and use a sword and are the size of a human
He the shrugs
But never the less your the expert on these things
When they get into B8
Kennos stares curiously watching Drazhak tapping at the walls
Soo, What is the plan here guys?
Drazhak Grimbold
"Hmmm. Nothing." Looking around, Drazhak explains. "These marks on the wall were deliberate. Someone was chipping away looking for something. Anyway, back to the business at hand."
He looks at Gelbor and the others.
"I don't know about the rest of you, but if we are going to encounter more of those things, I'd like to be a little better prepared. You have to admit we were sorely tested by just one of them. If we should encounter a group, it would be grim indeed. I am of the opinion that our position is fairly secure here, so we could rest for an hour or so and give one of us the chance to take that equipment sell it and purchase some more silver weapons and anything else that may be of use. I have 56 GP, but need another 30 to buy a dagger or light mace made of silver. I am prepared to sell the ones I already have to fund it. While the others wait, I can tend their wounds."
Gelbor Halus
Makes sure to check he's taken all the equipment he needs, he equips the studded leather and makes a note to decide who gets it later.
Gelbor has been keeping quiet while the group moves through each room.
[i]"Where have they gone... they must have been alerted ."[/b]
He whispers. "Somethings not right, let's take it slow."
He pulls out his short sword and silver dagger.
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Don Domingo Delagroza
What's the plan then my friends? I don't like the idea of waiting around here but if we need more weapons we don't have much choice. If we press on Draz you can have my short sword ,if I can't damage them I can always disarm them or distract.
Davos Bixby
"My mistake Kennos its actually a huamn body thats been infected with lycanthrope and has some of the features of a rat the tail and the body covered in fur".
Davos looks over the empty plinth, and finds nothing special about it.
"Indeed they seemed formidable foe to kill, if we leave we should go as one not to split the group as they could attack us then."
Gelbor Halus
"I spotted a trap door up there" He points up to the ceiling of the shaft where wooden platform that hangs precariously over the drop. "Look's like we're climbing up, Who's good with a rope?"
JamZilla
|
Ok, the gap between the ledge and the trapdoor is 5 feet. Which isn't much. The drop between the platform and the water is 140feet. Which is a lot. Interestingly if you make a DC35 acrobatics check you can high dive from here without taking damage. How cool would that be? Anyway, I digress. The platform is only big enough for one at a time but the taller members of party should be able to reach it from there.
Kennos Slynt
well I can go invisible or make someone invisible for about 12 seconds which could be enough time to open the trap door throw down a smoke stick and some of us to get in, and if someone is up there it may give us an edge on the attack?
Gelbor Halus
Gelbor makes a gesture for everyone to keep it down, and then whispers to each of them.
"Let's not waste it, let's get our marching order. I'll go first, then i guess Dom and you Slynt. But can we please try and keep it down i don't want everyone hearing us."
He then moves over to the trapdoor checking it for any traps and to see if he can hear anything on the other side.

Domingo watches in astonishment at gelbors reckless action, he turns to Draz and speaks in dwarven
Drazhak Grimbold
Drazhak shakes his head. "My thanks for your gracious offer my friend, alas I am not trained in the use of such a weapon. Besides, with your capability with a blade you should keep it. I shall make the best use of what I have and will concentrate my efforts on more mundane foes if any show. If not, I will have faith in my lord to guide my blade as he sees fit. Lets us to it then gentlemen. Gelbor, be careful on that ledge."
Drazhak loads the light crossbow and readies it in case Gelbor is attacked from within the trapdoor.
Kennos Slynt
You can use my silver dagger if you like I am better at causing distraction anyway well against those rat things
kennos spits
fowl beasts
He then looks like he has an idea he goes to the ledge and spits off it
He whistles
That is a long way down
Drazhak Grimbold
Drazhak smiles and nods. "Thank you kennos. I will carry your blade and vow to do honour to it and it's owner. I shall stay by your side to make sure no harm comes to you when we enter that shaft." He laughs then. "Though I don't fancy that jump!"
JamZilla
|
Gelbor pulls down the trapdoor which reveals an ingenious collapsing stone ladder of sorts that drops down to the platform.
The climb up is no problem to him and he finds himself In a narrow but pitch black corridoor.
Kennos soon steps across and climbs to join him.
Acrobatics check to jump onto the platform, climb check to get up the ladder.
Kennos Slynt
Kennos smiles at drazhak and hands him his dagger
I know you will use her well my friend
he studdies to gap
oh well on wards and upwards my friends
Kennos jumps the gap
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
and begins to climb the ladder
Climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Don Domingo Delagroza
Draz you go next, if you don't think you can jump that we'll tie the rope onto you and attach the grappling hook to the platform or something solid around here. so if you fall you will be ok and You can climb back up.
so j that is what we will do, if there is nothing solid here ill throw the hook to kennos and he can attach it to the platform
Drazhak Grimbold
Drazhak replies to Dom.
Dwarven
He sheats Kennos' dagger then ties the rope around himself, shortening it to only 10', then secures the grappling hook and rope to the piton driven in to the wall. He leans all his weight against it and asks Dom to do the same to test the piton is driven in sufficiently, then takes a short run and attempts to leap across the gap.
Acrobatics 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (9) - 5 = 4
climb if falls, or if makes it to climb up the ladder
1d20 - 5 ⇒ (14) - 5 = 9
I'll keep rolling until I make it! We may be some time!!!
Davos Bixby
Davos looks over the edge with some unease
"Must say guys didn't really expect to be doing this but ill try my best. I will need to tie the rope around me good chance ill fall".
Davos grabs one of the ropes and ties it around himself to make himself secure
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Can I take 10 on the climb if its enough as we not in danger are we?
Don Domingo Delagroza
Domingo watches in horror as Draz misses the platform and holds his breath as the rope snaps tight.
thank Camden that rope held!
hold on Draz I'm coming
Domingo sheaths his sword and grasping the rope attempts to pull Draz up
Strength: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Draz leaps and with all the grace of the finest athletes of his kind, fails to make even this small jump.
His stomach turns over as he falls and he looks down on the dizzying height. The rope gets taut as it reaches the ten foot mark, swinging back on itself and slamming the dwarf into the wall of the shaft.
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Davos, you're fine to take 10, its a DC 0 anyway so I don't think you can fail.
Domingo heaves on the rope and eventually is able to pull up his new-found companion and though the platform creaks ominously, it holds and the pair scramble up the ladder.
The corridor is pitch black; Assuming Davos lights the way. but the party inches its way along until it opens out into a larger room.
Area B10
The walls along this short passage bear murals showing strangely dressed Thassilonian priests placing bodies into crypts. Several niches in the walls may have once been burial crypts themselves, but today, the hall is strewn with bones and the niches lay empty.
Gelbor Halus
Gelbor waits for everyone else to climb up then when he see's everyone has made it get's ready to move on.
"Good job everyone, now let's keep it quiet i'll move up and check for traps."
