Tofutee |

"Ok, so from what I remember passages like this usually have gears under them that move everything. They are typically powered by magic, also the trigger for it is usually magic. You can move it back to where it started once the gears finish moving fairly easily but without the magic helping you are looking at quite a bit of weight."
She hems and haws as she looks at the passage
" So between the spike and my tool we've likely stopped the thing. Horns if you and the pickled wizard want to pass your gear over to this side I'm pretty sure you can both get through. Hrmm.. might need some butter or grease or something to make it easier though. Anyway, once that is done I'll shrink my travelers tool back down and the spike that just got stuck in the mechanism should keep it still long enough for me to get my hand out of the way."
Feeling like she has explained the game plan well enough she nods and looks at the Minotaur before frowning sourly at the floor.
" Oh and I should mention that I really don't like this hallway. I hope my stopping it like that damaged something important. Dang cheating magic makes finding traps so much harder."
Would the check to move the tunnel not be more about pull/drag capacity rather than raw strength? Larg could leverage his fancy magic cords and get a hefty bonus were that the case.

Tofutee |

" Unless you water happens to be greasy I think it would just make them have to take their clothes off to get through. I don't want an eyeful of either of those, got enough nightmare fuel already."
Tofutee hems for a moment before smacking a hand into her open palm, looking at the seam in the floor.
"But what you could do is start flooding that seam right there, the typical trap of this kind has cogs made of wood hardened with magic. They are still wood though so enough water would make them swell and jam them up."

Praink |

"The 'trigger,' inasmuch as one exists, appears to be supramundane in nature. Utilizing a spell that has not seen much use since ancient times, in fact. It detects the existence of life and, presumably, when life is detected, the spinning begins. As for extricating our comrades, I can create magical grease, if need be, but only enough for one of them."

Tofutee |

"Never would I think my hobby in crosswords would become so important." Tofutee mutters to herself as she mentally turns the 'amazing' toddler's words over hoping to squeeze comprehension from them.
" Ok, lets save the grease until we find they can't get past without it. I'm going to assume that the rest is 'No, magic trapp-y already start-y No deactivate-y.' "

Bud Wiser |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

"Well, I guess I can come over there. Here hold my stuff and just let me rip this off too." After handing his gear over, Bud removes his Haramaki and passes it to Tofutee. He then walks to the opening and begins to squeeze through with noises that sound like a wet towel being wrung out. After popping through to the other side there is a gallon of beer covering the floor and running into the crack.
"Thank you very much for your assistance. Just give me a moment while I get this all stored away."

Tofutee |

"Uh.. I'm not really sure what to say on that." The bacon scented one states doing her best to suppress the disturbing event that had just occurred. Passing the beer sponges armor I'm just going to ignore whatever that stain is
"Oh wait, heres one. So what's it like being the equivalent of an over sized vermin people stick in sand land liquor? Hrmm.. wonder what would happen if someone ate you." she queries attempting to shatter the awkward pause that had just occurred.
"Oh and you probably want to move now unless you'd like to get bowled over and or impaled by a contorting minotaur."

Larg |

As if on cue, Larg tosses his breastplate, bag, weapons, and shield through and starts to squeeze though himself. It takes him a while to figure out how to get his horns through, but eventually, through much grunting and bellowing, he makes it through.
Once his breastplate is strapped on once again Well. Let's keep going

Tofutee |

Tofutee glances to the Minotaur in a tone of annoyance not at him but perhaps the world. Though the difference is rather hard to grasp from the tone of being annoyed from something he had done personally so perhaps it was best to just cover all the bases. "Before that I'm getting my fancy tool that just saved all our asses back. When I say 'Now!' pull me back." Tofutee gets everyone out of the way before using one hand to grab the battering ran in the center and the other to press a button as she shouted "Now!" on pressing the button as the ram shrinks back into a rod removing the largest thing preventing the hallway from moving again.
She hauls on the newly shrunk tool fully expecting the passage to come grinding past any second.
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16 Unsure if needed.
"Lets get the heck out of this death trap hallway first. We can rest next to the portcullis in the room full of doors. Maybe we'd have better luck just trying another door."
pretty sure as Terquem said that puts us at R6. which means...
WME: 1d6 ⇒ 4
It would be really awesome if the dungeon could give us some darn loot or a monster to fight soon. All these death traps are making Tofutee sad.

Terquem |
Day 6, turn 114, approximate time of day 6:50 pm (turn 1 of 6)
After Bud and Larg squeeze back to the eastern side of the bizarre changing passageway, and take a moment to put their equipment back in place, the group is ready to set out down the eastern leg of this narrow passageway. Tofutee takes her wonder tool in both hands and gives it a yank, and to her delight it comes free, and the passageway remains locked down in place by the spike driven into the gap at the floor.

Terquem |
Day 6, turn 115, approximate time of day 7:00 pm (turn 2 of 6)
The group trudges to the east, and there ahead of them they see the opening, flanked by columns, of a Chamber, but this chamber is a bit off center, and the right hand wall can easily be seen, while the left hand wall cannot.
The sounds of soft, lullaby like, singing can be heard coming from the chamber.

Tofutee |

Tofutee twitches slightly on hearing the sound. "Oh that's not good. Only the monsters who love their jobs sing down here. Maybe we should go back to the death traps?"
Tofutee asks looking to the rest of the group behind her. Then looking back there herself she sighs.
"Yanno what at least hideous death by whatever is in here will be less embarrassing than death by the magical equivalent of a field of invisible garden rakes. I'm going in to see what that is, hopefully whatever is in there doesn't notice me. If it does the super secret signal for help is me yelling in pain."
with that Tofutee hugs the wall of the chamber and attempts to make her way into the room stealthily.
Stealth: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 14 + 2 = 29 Tofutee has Masterwork sneakin' shoes. So subtract 2 if it turns out to be a visual thing which gives me away.
On learning what is in the room Tofutee would come back and describe to the rest of the party unless she gets detected. Then She'd sneak back inside and try to set up for a flank surprise round when Larg inevitably enters the room with a mighty yodel of victory to smash the thing.

Tofutee |

Tofutee nods "Yep that's th- Hey what do you mean bacon you old sauce pan? Yo-you're imagining things again." Tofutee states with a bit too much protest in her voice. This is of course right before she vanishes around a corner in her sneaky manner.

Misty Prominence |

Misty quietly bubbles, pops, and fizzes, from the location Tofutee deemed safe. "Well, that, and if the monster kills you, it probably gets paid. If the trap kills us, somebody just has to clean out the trap and replace it. So I guess someone gets paid, too... but one way's more fun, while the other's more work."

Tofutee |

Tofutee scans the room for further objects of merit loot or dangerous looking bits of environment she might be able to use to an effect
On seeing little she turns and represses an audible shudder. Moving back to a safe distance with the group sigh in relief.
alright so there is a stringy kinda undead looking woman in there. She has dark hair and is singing to a doll. Im guess some manner of crazy spellcasty type as she doesnt look the type to rip you in half. Rooms tirty by thirty, doesnt loom like a lot of stuff in there. If you guys want to set up in the hall here I can sneak around to get into flanking for if we end up having to fight her. Also steal any loot I can find if it turns out running Is a better idea. Ill try to be cautious as that will put me out of bubbles wonderful healing most likely. And id really appreciate it if we could avoid killing her co-workers gotta stick together after all.
With that the petite plant pauses waitibg for her brain and tounge to catch up with each other.
sound good enough?

Tofutee |

Tofutee hums in thought before speaking "But that's just it we don't know if its undead or just really skinny and pale. It doesn't look amazingly beefy but some critters can be surprising like that. I'd guess it's a spell caster but I could be wrong, I know it isn't much to go on but has anyone heard of something like this thing before?" Tofutee states before thinking better and reiterating the key points "Tall and thin female, I think, with long black hair. Probably casts spells? Doesn't look like a normal humanoid. Could be undead"
With that she begins shuffling through her supplies looking for useful items for the coming likely battle
"I've also got a lasso, a bear trap, a net and caltrops if we want to set up an ambush or use them somehow else."
Tofutee's Knowledge rolls in case they are needed.
Knowledge: Local: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Knowledge: dungeoneering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Terquem |
Did I ever mention that I hate Knowledge rolls, Sense Motive rolls, and Perception rolls, when they are made without context, so to show my disdain, no offense is meant to any particular player, here we go…
Tofutee knows everything there is to know about It Dupree’s Snow Cone Shacks, having had a very short part time job at the Shack on Burtower Street and Column Road. She can tell you all the flavors, exactly how much syrup is used in each combination, and she knows the regular cleaning cycle and shut down list for each of the three different sized snow cone making machines
Tofutee is also very well acquainted with the current “Them Magazine” articles that have featured the Dungeon Minion’s fall collection wardrobe as selected from the “Miss Celanueous” catalog
Misty knows absolutely nothing about the rituals performed in the Great Center Circle Druidic Plaza, during the first day of the full moon
However, she has heard that it involves a Pancake Flipping contest that requires the use of a spatula and the cantrip, Mage Hand, while blind folded.
So in the future, feel free to make those rolls whenever you think it appropriate, and include any questions you think are important to exactly what it is you think your character should know, or be prepared to suffer my ridiculous imagination

Misty Prominence |

If I keep rolling, will you keep doing that? :p. Also, the context is 'do my studies of the arcane and divine suggest any creatures that her description suggests?' Remember, it's okay for my character to go 'Oh, that sounds like a ghast!' and be completely wrong doing it. An oncologist will see cancer, while a diagnostician will see infection. And with my poor rolls, thinking an unseelie drow spiderqueen from the third circle of the outerwinter glades is a vampire is -entirely reasonable-.
"Ummm... That could be a lot of things. If you can get her to move, if she hops around, she might be a funny kind of vampire. Or maybe a ghast. Did she have a shadow? Has she ever participated in a pancake flipping contest as part of a ritual?" She had no idea what the relevance of pancakes were, but she trusted her instincts, and her adhd riddled mind to not lead her astray.

Tofutee |

Should have been more precise. Basically tofutee was trying to see if any of the smart people got an idea to what it might be from her crappy description.
On future I will be sure to have a particular question in mind when rolling knowledge. Or perhaps not if I desire more random information.
Tofutee shrugs "Darn, I don't have any ideas to what it might be either. Though I can tell you absolutely anything about snowcone construction."
Then looking to the minotaur tofutee shrugs "You have a point, if we don't know what it is we might as well set up assuming it wants to eat us. Give me twenty seconds to get into position and then do what you do best."
Tofutee heads back around the corner to set up, crossbow draw.
Nin Nin Ninja: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28
Tofutee does nothing else but sneak into s spot she likes avoiding the vision of the undead lady.

Praink |

Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
I'm wondering if Praink would a)be able to tell for sure that the creature is undead b) if so, know the normal features of the undead, i.e. the traits of the undead type, and c)any special attack forms he might be familiar with.

Day 6, turn 115, approximate time of day 7:00 pm (turn 2 of 6)
Tofutee creeps as quietly as she can, back into the small chamber.
The strange "person" suddenly stops singing and rises from the ground quickly, turning around she looks at Tofetee and smiles and says
And Mother always said singing for my supper was a waste of time
You failed to surprise Hattie, roll for Initiative!
Hattie’s Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Hattie: AC 19, t 11, ff 18 | hp 58 (9d10+9) | F +6, R +7, W +7, SR 16 | 30’, melee 2 claws +13, d4+4 + weakness DC 16 f) | SLA CL9, Alter Self, Dancing Lights, Invisibility blah, blah blah | CMB +13, CMD 24 | Alertness, Blind Fighting, Combat Casting, Deceitful, Great Fortitude | Skills, up the wazoo!

Misty Prominence |

Intuition: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 What could the fact that she stopped singing, and suddenly started talking possibly mean? Based on the dice...
"Well, I don't know about you guys, but I've got a great feeling about things to come!" Misty smiled, feeling a bit more bubbly about things, as she moved forward, to try to see the songstress.
I'll put Misty as -not- participating in any form of surprise round based on the lack of knowledge of danger
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Tofutee |

init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Crap. tofutee groans as the tall creature stands.
I dont suppose you are a carnivore? Im strictly 100% vegtable matter. totally unpalatable.
With that she turns to run in a slow moment talking all the way.
"I'll.. just go over here... and... bravely run away!"
The bacon scented one goes scrambling for cover before popping back up and taking a potshot with her crossbow.
1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 4 = 7
"Ok, new plan! Convince the lady im not dinner! Oh and also scream!"
brought to you by Scream-o-vision
if there is some place in the room tofutee can reach for cover that is where she goes. If not she just moves to a spot where were this creature to attack larg could charge into flank on the other side. Shes fighting defensively so her AC increased to 22.

Bud Wiser |

Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Bud moves forward and fires a jet of acid at the creature.
Acid Jet: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 6) + 4 = 11
Crit Confirmation
Acid Jet: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 6) + 4 = 16
Bud yells out, "I'll save you! Wait! Why would I look out for someone else?"

Praink |

Praink closes to 30 ft. from the creature, and a weave of shadows jumps from his hand.

Round 1
Misty intones a quick blessing, and touches Larg, whose muscles seem to grow even larger, pressing against the straps of his armor, while Bud darts into the room, weaving and zigzagging as he goes, which is purely intentional.
As soon as Bud is within sight of the tall hideous looking creature he fires a missile of magical acid at it.
Tofutee rolls around the corner of the wall where the Passageway opens up into the chamber, and raises her crossbow, she fires but the bolt goes wide to the left.
Prain floats into the room, stopping just at the entrance, and tries to entangle to creature with shadows
Praink and Bud – your spells fly at the creature, but even as the magic is leaving your fingertips you feel something in the air that resists your efforts – Please roll to overcome Spell Resistance by rolling Caster level checks, the DC is 16

Bud Wiser |

According to the SRD:
Supernatural Abilities: These can't be disrupted in combat and generally don't provoke attacks of opportunity. They aren't subject to spell resistance, counterspells, or dispel magic, and don't function in antimagic areas.
Acid Jet (Su): The arcanist can unleash a jet of acid by expending 1 point from her arcane reservoir and making a ranged touch attack against any one target within 30 feet. If the attack hits, it deals 1d6 points of acid damage + the arcanist's Charisma modifier, plus an additional 1d6 points of acid damage for every 2 levels beyond 1st (to a maximum of 10d6 at 19th level). The target is also sickened for 1d4 rounds. It can attempt a Fortitude saving throw to negate the sickened condition.

Round 1…
Bud’s missile strikes the tall humanoid and she howls in pain as the acid burns her decrepit flesh.
Praink surrounds the tall humanoid with a binding shadowy darkness, and then the creature vanishes from sight.
Larg runs into the room and charges the shadows hoping to hit the thing even though now he cannot see it
Hatties AC is reduced to 17 because she is emtangled, so there is a good chance Larg’s charge will hit, but she vanishes, becomes invisible, on her turn, meaning there is a 50% chance Larg will still miss. I’d like Larg to roll d100 and on a 51+ he hits!
Praink - will the shadows disappear at the end of your turn in round 2?
