Seamus Haggrathy |

Seamus moves quickly to the side to prevent Farid from being surrounded before slashing out with his scimitar. He knew the weapon wasn't as effective but it was best in these close quarters.
5-foot step left to prevent Farid from being flanked(already done on the map).
Then attack on undead diagonal to me with scimitar.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19, Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

![]() |

You need to check for concealment on that roll, Seamus.
Kamlann steps forward as he sees the undead moving amid the curtains. He murmurs the same spell as before, taking care not to expose himself to the thing's attacks, before slashing at it twice with his blade - but the first time, the weapon sheds tiny droplets of acid that burn the fabric of the curtains before the blade even touches them.
Five foot step as indicated on the map.
Full round action: spell combat, using acid splash with close range to deliver the spell through my scimitar. Concentration check, DC 15, for casting defensively: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11. Using concentrate arcana to reoll with a +4 bonus: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21.
First attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19; miss chance (1-20 is a miss): 1d100 ⇒ 89.
First attack damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 plus 1d3 ⇒ 3 acid.
Second attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16; miss chance (1-20 is a miss): 1d100 ⇒ 15.
Second attack damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7.

Seamus' miss chance (1-20 = miss): 1d100 ⇒ 91
Seamus' blade simply slides off of the creature. It feels as though he is trying to chop down a tree, not a man. Kamlann's magically-empowered blade fares better - his second slash becomes tangled in the curtains, but the first strike penetrates undead flesh, the light sheen of acid upon the blade eating away at the risen monk.
The undead takes no damage from Seamus' scimitar, but full damage from Kamlann's arcane pool-enchanted weapon. Shisumo, how did you attack twice, out of curiosity. Also, does concentrate take up an arcane pool point?
Reposting initiative. Before the undead go, does Jelani want to take his readied action or keep his current initiative? While we wait for that answer, can I get a Will save from everyone, please?
Undead @ 20
Jelani @ 17
Schrim @ 16
Syndir @ 15+

Seamus @ 9

And no, concentrate is just 1/day. No arcana point needed.
Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Did my axe attack appear to do any damage?
Whoops! Yes it sure did - 11 points - which means that Kamlann has just dropped the monster in space S9.
As Kamlann puts another of the walking horrors down, the monster battling Farid takes another swipe with its claws, attempting to rake its sharp nails across Farid's arms. Farid attempts to bring his armor to bear; the sharp screech of nails on mithral is chilling. The undead rakes its claws along the armor until they find purchase in Farid's flesh, just under the arms.
Undead's claw attack: 1d20 ⇒ 12 (modifier withheld)
Undead's miss chance (1-20 = miss): 1d100 ⇒ 92
Undead's claw damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Undead's claw attack: 1d20 ⇒ 13 (modifier withheld)
Undead's miss chance (1-20 = miss): 1d100 ⇒ 96
Undead's claw damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Ow. Farid, 7 damage. I think both of those were hits due to your rage; sorry! These little 1d4 + 1 claws are really tearing you guys up.
Two new Fort saves, please, Mr. Heydar.
As the battle rages on, a priest or monk rather suddenly rounds the corner (see the ? in space W10), emerging from the curtains on the other side of the room (spaces AD9 and AE9). Dressed in the now-familiar bright robes that the monks of the pagoda wear, the human monk rushes forward, waving his arms.
"Praise the Rose! We've been hiding upstairs for hours! Please! There are more of us!"
The monk has double-moved from someplace around the corner. His turn is over once he reaches that spot.
Reposting the initiative to account for the monk and for Jelani's delay:
Undead @ 20+
Monk @ 20-
Schrim @ 16
Syndir @ 15+
Farid @ 15-
Seamus @ 9
Kamlann @ 7+

"I... what?" is the monk's only reply.

Syndir Apep |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Sydir wondered briefly why their new 'friend' was attacking an apparent hostage but Kamlann's accusal rang too true for him to doubt. So he sidled up close to the monk who almost killed Farid and lashed out with his fist to that sweet, tender spot in the throat.
I take it this is not your friend Schrim?
Stunning Fist: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Unarmed Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 + Fort Save DC 14 or Stunned for 1 round

Farid Heydar |

Farid Round 5 Action
Farid grunts in pain but continues to swing his axe at the last foe before him the pain fueling his rage.
Greataxe Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Greataxe Damage 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Fortitude Save 1 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Fortitude Save 2 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

The monk turns aside Schrim's blow at the very last moment.
"What are you doing? Someone help me!"
Syndir senses that Schrim, the newcomer, has somehow or for some reason identified the monk as an enemy. Perhaps this monk was the one that pushed the statue out of the window.
As the young sorcerer lashes out with his signature stunning strike, the reason why becomes apparent.
Although Syndir's attack strikes true, the creature is not stunned. It barely seems to register the attack that ought to have left it struggling to breathe.
The monk takes only 2 damage, and seems immune to your Stunning Fist.
Farid's miss chance (1-20 = a miss): 1d100 ⇒ 86
Desperately raging, Farid's axe unfortunately strikes nothing and no-one.
Seamus, Kamlann, and Jelani are up (in that order).

Seamus Haggrathy |

Even though it's proven ineffectual so far, Seamus slices out with his blade again, not wanting to leave Farid to the creature's devices.
No way to make my attacks magical or anything so just gonna keep swinging and hope I crit.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12, Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

![]() |

Kamlann adjusts his position slightly as reflected on the map, in case Farid wants a slightly safer spot for a flank and continues his mystical-acid-powered assault.
Exact same routine as last round. Concentration check for casting defensively: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13. Since that fails, I lose the spell; I can still attack with spell combat, although I also still take the appropriate penalties.
Scimitar attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21, miss chance (1-20 misses) 1d100 ⇒ 36
Scimitar damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7.

Jelani Guldis |

Jelani, seeing his allies attack what seems to be a monk, takes a moment to evaluate the situation.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Realizing what must be happening, Jelani flings his staff, guiding it magically to smash the disguised undead.
Using Hand of the Apprentice. Firing into melee (-4): 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 4 = 5 (1d6 ⇒ 3)

Farid Heydar |

Not unless Farid had to, he would have stayed stationary and hacked away. Does this mean that both undead threatening farid have fallen? If so are there any other foes in line of sight?

![]() |

Jelani sees the monk for what it is, but his staff misses the mark.
Most everyone seems to have decided that the monk is an enemy. There is still one undead near you, it five-foot stepped away after the last round of attacks against you. It is uninjured. I'll five-foot-step you forward, so that your last round of attacks could've hit.
I think that Kamlann and Seamus need to adjust their last rounds, though.

![]() |

Kamlann moves into the room, past Seamus, and attempts to aid Farid against his last opponent.
Move through the curtains and up next to Farid, stepping over the body of the dead, as shown on the map. Standard action: attack the target in R7. Should I reroll my attack, or use the roll from above?

![]() |

Your existing attack is fine, which puts the undead at 14 damage (including Farid's greataxe damage).
Hissing at Kamlann's intervention, the undead creature performs one last flailing assault against Farid with its claws.
Undead's claw attack: 1d20 ⇒ 14 (modifier withheld)
Undead's claw attack: 1d20 ⇒ 19 (modifier withheld)
Undead's claw damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Good damage... again. I think that puts Farid down?
As Farid's eyes roll back in his head, the monster's attention shifts to Kamlann. The thing roars - like an animal - directly into the mercenary's face.
Meanwhile, the monk in the hall (revealed to be just another of the undead) shifts his position to get a better look at Jelani. Distractedly, the creature backhandedly attacks Syndir (completely ignoring Schrim), and stares dagger at the half-elven cleric.
"Priesssttt...."
Undead's claw attack: 1d20 ⇒ 15 (modifier withheld)
Syndir's Snake Style Sense Motive check: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Undead's claw damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Undead's claw attack: 1d20 ⇒ 4 (modifier withheld)
Syndir's defensive style easily overcomes the distracted series of swings, but the monster seems unconcerned with his failure.
I've marked the "monk" as just another red ? on the map, now. It is Schrim's turn.

Schrim Daskovi |

Schrim notices the lack of attention paid him and makes a quick decision. He steps in front of the monk as it keys in on Jelani and attempts to trip him by sweeping his leg with his dagger.
Five foot step and then a flanking Trip maneuver, I know it should make an attack of opportunity on me if it wants.
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15

Farid Heydar |

Farid Round 6 Action
I believe the foe right in front of me (the question mark) has already been laid low. I will charge at the foe still in front of me R5 and attack. +2 Bonus on attack for charging.
Greataxe Attack 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 2 = 25
Greataxe Damage 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Seamus Haggrathy |

Knowing he will have no impact on the ghouls with his weapons, Seamus none-the-less moves up to help Syndir deal with the remaining monk. Hopefully he could distract it to allow Syndir to land a fatal blow.
Move action to go to W11 (already done on the map).
Then fighting defensively, I will make an Aid Another attack. It's against AC 10 and if I hit, Syndir will get a +2 to his next attack against the undead monk. And for fighting defensively my AC gets a +2 until my next turn. Checked and didn't see anything that said I couldn't combine the aid attempt with fighting defensively as they both just modify an attack.
Aid another attack(with fight def penalty factored in): 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 4 = 7, No damage on a hit.

![]() |

Kamlann, seeing Farid's grevious wounds, takes a moment to display his compassion as he snaps, "Maybe next time you'll listen when I tell you not to run off, eh Qadiran?" before turning to help against the last of the undead monks.
Move action to W10.
Standard action: two-handed attack with scimitar on the undead in X11.
Scimitar attack 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Scimitar damage 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

The undead monk, surrounded but not demoralized, lays into Kamlann with his filthy claws.
Undead's claw attack: 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (modifier withheld)
Undead's claw attack: 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (modifier withheld)
Blinded by the fury of his impending doom, the monk only makes a gruesome spectacle of itself, shrieking as it flails at the mercenary.
Schrim is up.

Schrim Daskovi |

Schrim flipped the dagger around in his hand, confident of his skill. He swung his dagger down at the creature, but had misjudged the distance and ended up only cutting the monk clothes it was dressed in, revealing the zombied flesh beneath. Schrim cursed under his breath at his lack of judgement, to anyone listening, the curse sounded strange with his speech impediment. It was bad enough that he was hardly able to hurt these creatures, he needed to be useful so he could bargain with these newcomers once the fight was over.
Power Attack:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
