Hello all, will be placing a FAQ of questions in the recruitment thread in the description shortly. I just wanted this open so that you may post. I shall be doing checks of your final builds and will help people into getting their ideas fleshed out. I will also direct you to make good builds (if you want), all in all I want you guys to feel awesome so I will help everyone accomplish that. Gameplay won't start until I have everyone sorted. I will post as much as I can to get this sorted as quick as possible, I will have a lull in posting on Saturday as I'm flying but will continue posting when I land.
Welcome to Here be Dragons, are you ready to conquer the world?
The Shard
I'm here, thanks for the invite Old Smoky.
Must have been tough selecting a group from those applications, didn't think I would make it, but very glad to be here.
Changed the alias name to The Shard, as Shard itself was already in use.
Also we should demand some decent ratfolk pics from Paizo, the rat will have to do for now.
Monkeygod
You probably aren't aware, but I am super excited for this game.
Bill, would it be alright for my character to have the Shape Change, Spider Climb and Gaseous Form special qualities? All three would allow for a lot of messing with people, as well as just the normal uses.
I don't plan on being incredibly silly, but I will be drawing heavily from the Prankthology when and where possible.
Nini Micheals
"Now the party don't start till I walk in, yooooooo!"
I definitely did not expect to get in. But I am extremely excited to do so! I don't really have much experience with pbp in terms of game rules, but I used to do a lot of straight roleplaying, so hopefully I won't suck that much! I will work on my crunch very soon.
Little Aurelie
Great to be here, everybody! I look forward to the RP with all of you. Hopefully working with a possessed little girl and her undead friends won't be too awkward. (The awkward part will be when she gets a new "friend" if anybody kicks it.)
"Come on in, Mister Jingles! Look at all these other people... Maybe they can be our friends, someday."

Min reporting in (sorry about using the wrong alise that one time).
Thank you so much for inviting me in. I have wanted to play this character for the longest time and this game is just about perfect for it.
I plan on using a huge amount of divination magic in fact I never would have tried to make this character if it wasn't a PbP because otherwise the DM might have a hard time coming up with answers in time.
@Little Aurelie not that good at necromancy it being one of my prohibited school. Still plan on raising as many dead as I can. Blood money makes it so practical.

I need to trim down my spell list some more. Already gave up about half of them, but still needs more trimming. Scrolls are so expensive. I usually try and get my spells by doing spell trades with other wizards.
"Hey there are some other wizards here would anyone care to trade spells with me it much cheeper then buying the scrolls"
Also I have a question just how closely allied with each other are we? I mean have been working to together up till now.
Old Smoky Bill
@Monkeygod: As long as it's out of combat yea, I don't mind.
I think we have 3 undead, Aurelie, NiNi and whatever you end up calling your character.
@Min: For wizards (which I think is you and Leonard) you can get 8th level consumables as if you had used scribe scroll, I think that halves the cost? You may also trade books with Leonard for free. That should give you quite a few spells to start off with. You will get more shortly don't worry.
I've also been thinking about your library item thing from a while ago. I don't think I want to create it as an item but I am alright fluffing your knowledge abilities as if you had created these items. So when you roll a knowledge check a page comes back to you from a librarian giving you notes. It just won't have any mechanical boost but it is still there.
Use as much divination as you like, I know this world quite well now having run it for 4 games. :P Though quite a lot of the tougher enemies will have scry protection but I'm sure you'll eventually find ways around that.
@Everyone Does anybody need help completing their first draft of character? Or should I start checking over people's completed ones?

Updated the HR document with a few things:
1) Grease your palm nerfed a little.
2) Combat expertise is given free to Ninjas and Samurai too.
3) Against the odds buffed.
4) Sell off buffed.
- Wizards start with scrolls equal to 8th level consumables. You may buy them as if you had used scribe scroll (making the cheaper), in this case only you do not need to know the spell to have scribed it. You may also trade with friendly wizards for free.
- You may refluff any ability or spell to be what you like as long as it doesn’t mechanically change it. E.g. Bless could be a spell that makes all allies weapons dripping with ooze. An animal companion may be completely different to what the name is.
- Inherent enhancement applies to one weapon, a pair (for dual wielders) AND an armour piece.
- Amulet of Mighty fists counts as a weapon for the Enhancement section.
- Ka-ching pool is a flat number that is all contributors Ka-ching stats combined. The rarity of the item or service is the amount of d6s rolled. You always try to roll equal to or under your total Ka-ching. You will know that rarity before the roll is made and you may only make each roll once. You may attempt again later but after a major event.
- Leadership is not banned but the only thing it really allows you to do is build a cohort yourself. All other cohorts or minions are built by me. They are all however still NPCs and will act like NPCs, you won’t have true control over them. You can still do things to make them more loyal though.

I've calculated it now as if you had used a permanency spell on it. It costs about 16k per item which is stupid high, but then again it is making a level 6 spell permanent. So probably need to think of something else, you can make the armour out of dragonhide and the weapons out of darkwood. Those would be more affordable. (although we will call the dragonhide drakehide instead. You'll see why as the story progresses)
Drakehide: x2 of the cost of the masterwork item (not the enchantments)
Darkwood: 10gp per pound of the item.
The Shard
Updated Shard's spell list, primarily buff spells and some AoE spells for those pesky adventurers.
I've got a similar question about permanent spells.
My animal companion has got a permanent anthropomorphic spell on him, do I have to pay a cost for that still, or is that a one-time only freeby?
The cost of casting another permanent Anthropomorphic animal is 7500gp, does that go off of my special materials or do I have to roll Ka-Ching for that?
I will try to do this more often, eventually even casting Awaken on some (other) companions when I eventually get to level 9. Also in my spell-list are spells incorporated to attract and eventually expand my group of trusted apprentices, max 4 of course, hope you don't mind.
Got to buy my consumbables as well, will do that now.
Edit: Bought
@Leiara, I guess you win it from me in terms of raw power, next level should become interesting though, hopefully Feral Combat Training is as good as I think it is. Should add my Stunning Fist shenanigans and some bonuses to my Wildshape.

As part of a working relationship I will definitely trade spells. I haven't picked mine yet, so just let me know what you have an I'll pick different ones.
Min Classified
By the way I can cast Arcane Concordance (it's nice being a Samsaran). I plan on casting it once everyday and you are all invited if you want to have any spells you want Enlarge Spell, Extend Spell, Silent Spell, or Still Spell on also raise the DC by one.
@Leonard I have picked a spell list, but despite my pruning it is still too big. It's on my character sheet. If you want to learn any of those spells I would be happy to trade you for them.
It's a bit of a shame I was planing on using a bunch of scrolls in this game seeing as I can use my own caster lv when using scrolls (or wands), but I won't be able to afford an because I need my spells.
Old Smoky Bill
@Rocan: Usually it would take up an item slot as the spells are quite potent though that spell seems to just make an animal talk and walk on its hind legs...so I don't mind that one being a one off freebie. With regards to awaken, let me try to bake that into a story.
@Min: Aye, I've done the system like this monetary-wise as I have played and run games in a similar style before where money was a non issue. Scroll casting became way too stupid, the best spell casters were usually determined by how many quivers of avandra they could afford with scrolls in them. You could use wands as they are multiple casts a day instead of running out.
@Aurelie: Out of curiosity why have you spent spells known on summon monster? Can't you just use your class feature for it? I know you can't have the eidolon out at the same time but your cleric spells seem to have it already.
@Leiara: I think your hp should be 68, so you have more than it looks like there. Bear shaman and shapeshifter are your archetypes correct?
@Druids: Can you put in your sheets someplace your usually transformed stats? So when you do change and I attack you I know which stat block to look at.
@Everyone: For hp I might have wrote it down badly but it's basically average die roll 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5 rounded up to 4, 5, 6, 7 depending on your dice for every level after one. First level being max. Also traits, any 2 traits are fine just not region or campaign specific. The general ones basically.

I'd like to be able to summon hordes of undead at any time, really, since Aurelie herself is sh*t in a fight. I think I'm going to alter the "typical prepared cleric spells" thing, because I don't really like the selection there as of right now.

Could I have some of the Druid players help in the construction of my city? I would like to have the city made of living oak. Wood Shape is a level 2 Druid spell. This would make it so that with my tree stride I could move though my city at will. I could return the favor by giving you all a bunch of arcane locks, explosive runes and stone of continual flame. (false focus makes them free castings for me)
Don't worry living wood especially oak does not burn very well.
Maybe my people can research a new type of oak that can do very efferent waste disposal. To keep the city hygienic. (are there any spells to make plants grow really fast?) Then it refined the urine and grows fruits full of phosphorus. I'm going to have to raid the knowledge of the Druid collective maybe capture a few of them and force them to teach me Druidic always wanted to learn that language.
Min Classified
@Leiara would you care to help me build a city made out of living Oak? I can do the knowledge engineering checks. (Min can't fall a knowledge check) Also your plan to create a forest in a desert is not so stupid it's called terraforming and I bet I can make the knowledge nature check to figure that out as well. Create water makes water just have to make sure people drink it so it does not disappear. You are level 8 so you can create 28800 gallons a day with an 18 hour work day. There real limitation is to get enough stuff to drink the water, but I am sure we can manage something what do you say?
Old Smoky Bill
@Aurelie: Okay cool
@Shard: Or story based events yes.
@Min: I'll put up a map of the land once I get an idea of everyone's cities. There isn't a desert in the part of the world you start off in though there is a desert somewhere in the world. You can organize who built your city and how if you like though they will be fully function at the start of the game.
There was a question earlier about how long you guys have been working together (that I forgot to answer), you guys have founded the empire and helped each other take it over so you have been working together for quite a while. That isn't to say your characters like each other but you at least tolerate each other for the push of attaining greater power.
Min Classified
I guess it would be a bit crazy to create a desert just so we can grow a forest in a desert.
Also I changed one of my Mystic Past Life for lesser planner binding. I will be able to summon bunches of lesser demons. I plan on interigating and disecting a few of them just to figure out how they work. Might need to do a few ka-ching checks to get human sacrifices if I can find any uses for them. Or now I have a use for human resources.

How do the past life/arcane savant spells work exactly? Do you know them as arcane spells and can you teach them to others if you choose? I'm thinking no, but figure it couldn't hurt to ask.
FYI: I'm in front of my computer now rounding out my character. If you need anything just drop a message.
Bill, I'm completely open to character build suggestions. Feel free to ask/recommend anything you feel could be appropriate.
The Shard
@Min, Leiara would probably be the most suitable to help you, though I would be happy to help you with your city built out of Living oak, being a druid myself.
Only favor in return would be a permanency spell or two, if you could obtain that at next level, for a lieutenant or two for me in the future. What say you? I could perhaps offer some assistance as well in regard to man power for construction. They could use the exercise.
Old Smoky Bill
I'd be creeped out if it wasn't the first time that's happened in one of my games.
Anyone one thing you guys can discuss is the names of your cities and possibly at basic what they are. They will grow with time don't worry just the basics so I can start getting them on the map. You have 6 choices of land for now, forest, coastal, mountainous, swampy, plains or river based city. There is a volcano near your homelands too but that is where the capital is.
I know most of you have put something already in the recruitment thread I just want to start finalising things now ^^
Leonard the Black
My first choice would be a mountainous region. It would be very chelaxian in it's form and function. I like the idea of a bastion on top of a mountain. It would be specifically designed to be difficult to assault.
Also, I'm having some serious decision paralysis on what to pick for gear. The "no money" thing is throwing me off. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thus far all I have are Living garmets.
I'd like a wand or two for my imps to use and if I could give them both some basic kind of weapon that'd be nice. Adamantine daggers or ranged weapons of some kind. In addition to being my interns they're supposed to be at least somewhat effective in a fight. I plan to cast a few things to make them more formidable, like mage armor, but not sure what else to get.
Thoughts?
edit: This is on my wishlist also

My city is a biological monstrosity that I am constantly improving on. The city literally grows outwards. I have designed it to grow labs and eat intruders. I guess you could call it a forset if a forest was all one organism. I am working on making it smarter so that it can anticipate my wishes and more directly help with my experiments and it seems to be working but so far it thinks so slow.
The walls have ears and the roots extend farther then most people relise.
Leonard the Black
Min,
I went ahead and put your spells in my book, picked a few of my own, and notated how many of my own I have left to choose. Since we're working together I'm specifically open to your suggestions about what spells to pick since you'll also be getting a copy.
