Hi there, I'd like to request permission to submit a Mesmer, if that's okay? It just recently burst forth from the Occult playtest, and apparently, it's a rather fun class to play. I'd be interested in playing one, but, barring the Mesmer, I'd just as easily play a Cleric. Mind you, that Cleric would be Lawful Neutral.

Sounds fun, do you have a link?
Is it like a Psion Telepath?
I believe Alshoodone is referring to the Mesmerist base class.

I'm not a particular fan of the Mesmerist, but you're welcome to try.
As a reminder, I will be announcing acceptances on the 8th (in two days!) so please get character submissions in soon if you're intending on applying. The party (in particular) would do well with someone who can channel positive or otherwise provide solid healing support.

I have a character that I have already rebuilt several times to try to find a campaign he fits in, and every time I get more excited about him. I just wanted to run the basic idea past you before I redo all his details.
He's a goblin cleric of Sarenrae (with a backstory to justify this), and tries very hard to be good. His alignment is NG. He loves fire spells, and so has a little bit of the feel of a blaster wizard. He also is built on dexterity, not strength, using the scimitar and dervish dancer feat.
Is this a concept that you want to rule out right away (many GMs of online games do)?
♣ Setzer Gabbiani ♠
Here is Setzer's background. While it certainly isn't the best one I've written (I've been having a bit of writer's block this past week), I think it provides me enough to base the character on.
She would take him on long walks out of the city through the Gap in The Warren and Setzer felt forever in her debt for showing him the awesome beauty of the open skies. They would dice with the Shoanti of the flatlands and race along the barren wastes. These were the days when Setzer was truly happy, whether it was the thrill of the chance at the tables, or running across the plateau with the wind whipping his hair, he was quite content in his small corner of the world.
On a day like any other, a tear opened up in the sky and a hulking craft was belched out into the cloudless azure skies. Setzer and Daryl alike stood there, dumbstruck. Daryl reacted first, sprinting off after the flying sky vessel, away from where they had been playing on the banks of the Yondabakari River, cutting into the dry grasslands a few miles north of the city. Setzer sprinted off in turn, but Daryl had a solid lead on him. Daryl scrambled up a stony rise, and it was then that Setzer realized what she was doing. He glanced up at the strange craft to notice one of the mooring lines was dangling quite close to the ground--was almost in reach. “Daryl, wait!” but the words died in his lips as she crested the rise and lept into the air, doing the impossible and managing to grab onto the heavy rope. “Daryl!? You’re flying!” he yelled as he crested the same rise and stopped, his expression a mix of elation and terror. After securing a solid grip, Daryl turned back and raised her voice, “I’m finally doing it Setzer! Come find me!” Setzer kept running--ran until his body gave out and he stumbled to his knees--agonizing over the loss of his friend while simultaneously feeling boundless joy as the realization that she had fulfilled one of their lifelong dreams set in.
Setzer wasted little time in honoring Daryl’s request. He scrabbled together what few belongings he had--his dice and cards being his most precious--said a few hastened goodbyes at the Bones, and off he went down the Halflight Path and onto the first available ferry heading south. He secured a map from one of the ferrymen and planned a course that would take him into the heart of northern Varisia. Down to Lake Syrantula, then board another ferry north to Turtleback. Hopefully, if I haven’t found any clues by then I can find a caravan or a few mercenaries heading west...

“I know of this craft you seek, but I’m sorry to say that it crashed. There was a great explosion, had to be magical in nature. Nothing natural makes colors like that. I can’t imagine anyone could’ve survived it.” “Hmmm, I wouldn’t be so sure, old man. She’s quite resourceful, that one. You’d be surprised the things I’ve seen her get herself out of. Now, where did it crash?” Setzer leaned across the table in earnest. He was in the Sun-Dappled Serpent, a dingy inn and gambling den in Ravenmoor. “To the we-” And at that very moment, just as the sun had finally set, fate decided to play her hand. It was a royal flush. An arrow pierced the man’s chest and then anarchy erupted as windows crashed in, fires were lit, women screamed and men died. Cultists wearing strange masks and concealed behind thick hooded cloaks stormed the ramshackle inn, slaughtering without reservation. The realization set in that he had lost the first major lead he had on where Daryl might be. Setzer simply lost control.
Sorrow gripped him with such unrelenting force that his telekinetic powers manifested then and there, flinging all manner of die, card, and chip in a storm of aetheric energy that cut down cultist and patron alike. Setzer looked on in horror as the common room had gone from utter chaos to still silence. Some simply stood and stared, others were cowering in fear or fleeing outright. Some lay very still, an array of objects embedded into their flesh… As the blood from a thousand tiny cuts dripped down his face, a lone card drifted down to land onto the table before him. The Two of Hearts. He fled the town without looking back, heading west.
-o-
He now found himself in the seedy city of Riddleport, still without a solid lead. He had learned to cope with his newfound ability to move virtually any unattended object with barely a thought. He had even worked these powers into his card and dice tricks and had managed to make a fair bit of coin along the way. And now he finds this flyer attached to the most renowned gambling hall in the city. Fate, it seemed, had dealt him a fair hand this day. The Gold Goblin was about to hire a card dealer unlike any they had ever seen.
Faelan Anwyl
I would like to introduce Faelan for consideration:
Concept:
Faelan sees the other world, that of spirits. He interacts with the world through these spirits. To him the misfortune hex is not about the tilting of fate or luck but rather manifests as spirits harrying his adversary, deflecting their blows at the last second or nudging them closer to the wizard's fireball. Spirits that are hurting his allies can be bargained with and can be persuaded to leave, whether through spells or through his Wrangle Condition ability.
Backstory:
Faelan’s earliest memories are of his father, a towering man both in stature and in will. With his mother dying at his birth, Faelan’s dad took to raising him. He was raised in the mountains north of old Sarkosis, his dad teaching him the ways of the wilderness. His father being a stern man, having lost most of his happiness with the death of his wife, nonetheless found joy in his son.
In the summer of his twelfth year, tragedy struck once more. While tracking some wild goats through a mountain pass, Faelan and his father were ambushed by a small band of demons. His father managed to fend them off long enough for Faelan to hide amongst some wild berry bushes in a ravine. Eventually the demons managed to subdue and bind his father in rope, marching him south to die in the iron mines of Iz.
Three days into the boy’s despair a thrush came upon him drinking from a mountain stream. This was no ordinary thrush, but rather a spirit with the form of a bird. Taking pity on the boy, the spirit bonded with him and began teaching him the old ways, the ways of his ancestors. The bird taught him to see the other world, the spirit world. Everything has spirits, every object, every place, every feeling, every concept.
The next 19 years were spent mostly in the wild, finding little need to enter towns more than once every few seasons. The boy grew into a man and the man grew in both understanding and power with the spirit world. One day things changed, every spirit of the heavens, the sky, of night and of darkness began calling. These spirits called those who could hear, ushering them toward a small city in Varisia. Ushering them toward Riddleport.
Upon arrival in Riddleport, Faelan has found the spirits all a-chatter. They speak now of a star, a star that has fallen to earth. Faelan feels a call to this fallen star, but for purposes unknown.
Character Planning:
I intend to continue to take levels in Shaman for the duration of Faelan’s career.
I see his role in combat as a support character. Not so much a buffer, but rather more of an enabler. The Shaman comes with many unique ways to effect the battle field, I intend to use the heaven's leap hex to set my allies up for success and to get them out of trouble when they need it. I intend to use hexes primarily for combat and use my spells for utility. As a divine caster, I also intend on being the primary source for healing, delivering cure spells through my familiar for battle field mobility. The Shaman's strength is its flexibility. If we need heals I can be a healer, if we don't I can be a buffer, between wandering spirit and being a divine prepared caster, I have plenty of options. I could go offensive, but with current group composition I think we have plenty of that.
Resume:
Faelan has paid a local boy to scribe for him a resume of sorts. Written on brown parchment, the script is rough but legible.
Expert Survivalist seeks work headed to the fallen star.
Capable of seeing the unseen and feeling the unfelt.
Can provide rudimentary healing.
Can be an asset to any team, inquire about unique capabilities.

Lina Ashenval
Lina's fluff has been added into her profile.
Resume:
Greetings Nel Sandhal, honorable manager of the renowned Gold Goblin. Please allow me to introduce myself. I an Lina Ashenval, explorer, adventurer, barkeep, and thrice-blessed of Cayden Cailean. After years working in the Publican's House, I have taken on Cayden's mantle as an adventurer for the past few seasons and had my chance to cross blades with orcs and undead, recovered magical wonders from far off Nex, and staunched the wounds of a man gored by a fiendish minotaur. The Drunken Hero has granted me his gift for revelry and adventure in the form of the power to heal even grievous wounds with but a touch, and the luck to get me through danger to heal those in need. For where would all the great stories of adventure and glory be if the hero or heroine died in their first scene? Life, life is the key to a grand adventure, and I will ensure your company sees their way to the end of your joyous tale. I can carry my own in a swordfight, outdrink your heartiest warrior, and lend a hand with a myriad of tasks.
For reference on my good character, amicable nature, and many talents please consult with Arnando Rolf, high priest of Cayden Cailean and proprietor of the Publican's House, and Mercucio Vedanon, 1st Sword of the Silken Rapiers, a mercenary company of some renown.
Best Regards,
Lina Ashenval"
Character Planning:
Lina will continue to predominantly advance as an Oracle, with a few more levels taken in Bard amidst the progress (on 20-lvl trajectory to Ora16/bar4 or 15/5) to round out the skilled, jack of all trades side. Her main focus is as a healer, and with her combination of spells, supernatural abilities, and her safe healer ability she can sustain a party through extended combat. Beyond that she has a couple spells to support as a controller, and can be a secondary combatant (good as a flanker, etc). Her wide range of skills also allows her to assist in many skill based scenarios (and with Fools for Friends lends a +3 when aiding), and she can take on the role of a face as needed.

Hello all! I have indeed been reviewing applications. Lady Kyoko Moriko, all of your requested additional rules sources (unchained ninja, etc) are good to go. I thought I had gotten back to you about them previously - sorry about that! I've been quite ill. Your character art and code of conduct is certainly evocative.
If anyone has any last minute submissions or additional clarifications (or perhaps cleric-fications!), I'll be making a final decision later tonight, so you have some time.
Alraniel "Nel" Sandhal
The office the interviews are held in is far smaller than one would expect from the large gambling hall. Everyone is greeted with a kind smile and a firm handshake as Nel Sandhal towers above each applicant at a respectable six foot one, before taking a seat. The questions are typical interview questions varying from "How did you find out about this position?" to "What can you provide for this group that I would be hard pressed to find a replacement for?" As the day dwindles on, so do the applicants until only three are left sitting in the waiting room.
"Congratulations, you lot. You've all got the job. Follow me, and I'll show you to the sleeping quarters." Nel swiftly leads the three new members of the gold goblin staff up the stairs, past a disarrayed looking large office to a small single room stuffed with three sets of bunked beds. On the eastern wall a hand made banner is pinned overlooking a large table covered with books, paints, fabric and a semi-neglected bonsai tree. "Sorry about the mess. It's been a very busy couple of days. Tamiro and Pluck are around here somewhere, but it's best to stay out of Tamiro's way until he's had a few drinks." Grinning at the white haired man, the burnette woman and the blond elf, Nel gestures to the semi-tight quarters. "Congratulations again, Setzer, Rilia, and Lina. I hope that we can get along well and this is a prosperous venture."
Congratulations to Setzer Gabbiani, Rilia of the Savored Sting, and Lina Ashenval for making it into the Second Darkness Campaign. The discussion thread can be found here. Slothsy would like everyone to check in before posting in the campaign tab to talk final builds and party synergy. Thank you to all applications, they were really fun to read through and it was very difficult to narrow it down to only three!

Congratulations all those who I selected. Thank you, Nel, for the in-character notification.
As always, I find selecting final characters to join the party to be the hardest part of being a play-by-post GM. I want to accept every character, and see a role and a part to play for each one. Thank you for your submissions; I gave each one careful consideration and making the final decision was quite agonizing. I wish you all the best in the future and hope that you find good games to play with :)

Lady Kyoko Moriko, all of your requested additional rules sources (unchained ninja, etc) are good to go.
Sorry GM I'm confused, I thought this post GM meant I had been picked by you? Do's the post by Alraniel listing other players picked mean as well as me? I'm was really excited to play.
