A couple more questions about the museum... single store only? And none of the neighbors have seen any mysterious lights or heard any noises from within?
The little old lady reacted with a guffaw at the mere notion of anyone bothering with “that old eyesore.”
But the prostitute a couple of streets away swore that she has seen people coming in and out of the front door at night.
I need a diplomacy DC=25 for more info. The museum is a single story building.
Tillia
Finally got to sit down and get caught up on this one.
Action 1
At Caleb's question Tillia replied, "Not for long as in only a few seconds. I'm sure there are spells that will allow longer periods but I don't know them yet. We should certainly keep our eyes open for additional scrolls that I can copy to my book, it would give me more versatility and by extension the rest of you as well."
Action 2
After considering what she would need to be ready for any future fights Tillia simply responded, "It's lucky for me I don't need much in the way of equipment, just my pouches at a minimum. I admit it would be nice to obtain another dagger and crossbow, though neither are of particular use to me."
Action 3
With more information now available about the possible location of Rexus mother Tillia listened intently and then said, "At least we're somewhat familiar with the area." She looked at Forvian and Korva as she asked, "Are there any approaches where we won't be seen or any obvious problems with getting inside of the place?"
Eirik Clausen
Action 3
"So, there are some people there after all," Eirik murmured, at the news about nightly movement of strangers. "Unlikely to be the people we are looking for, but who can say? Might be people working for them. Or just some fellows who have seen an empty building and decided to make use of it."
"If the locals are most active at night, I suggest we move in some time between early morning and midday," he went on. "Assuming we can get in without rousing the neighborhood."
Magic museum... wouldn't be surprised if the place was lousy with all sorts of hidden rooms and portals and whatnot.

Therefore:
a 3rd level rebellion (15-19 supporters, 3 teams) consumes ...
The standard teams are based on the Downtime system. That basically requires you to pay all your money up front. It's not a particularly realistic system, I grant you.
If we're talking basic upkeep (not a good wage) then I think the numbers would be much lower.Poor-Average lifestyle is 3-10 gp/month.
Caleb Cage
He looked around meaningfully, “But I've had enough of almost dying. If we're doing this, let's do it right. New weapons for everyone - I'll take the whip. More vials. Some sort of smokescreen in case it goes bad and we have to run. Everyone who can't heal takes a potion or something. Anyone know of anything that can let people see in the dark - that'd be useful? Let's take that potion we've been saving. Those of us who can stealth, do. Backup outside the door -
doesn't have to be great weapons, but enough that if we run into trouble we're home free. Tillia, can you do your funky warding on Eirik and me - even if we have to get scrolls.”
“I'm going to try to buy some of our weapons back from the Red Jills, assuming I can negotiate the price. They usually only get about 5 silver to the crown, so if we offer 6 they might be interested.”
Is it going to be problematic to acquire the things Caleb wants (ignoring the Jills, for now).
How about* Weapon for Vandomir
* Weapon for Rowan
* Alchemist's Fire
* Holy Water
* Smokestick
* Coins for Caleb (Coin Shot spell)
* Scroll of Mage Armour? (So Tillia doesn't have to waste slots)
Tillia
Hmm, scrolls of mage armor, shoulda thought of doing that. Granted it's not too big a deal to use the slot for a 3 hour armor buff, still a possibly valid point.

Ok, here's what we will do. we'll make the rebellion wages equal to the number of teams it has and the tier of said teams. A tier 2 team is equivalent to two tier 1 teams since they'll need more funds to accomplish their goals.
The formula will be tiers*10 gp per week. So your rebellion has four teams of 1st tier (4 tiers) and so has to pay 40 gp per week.
A 7th level rebellion may have 5 teams (say 2 teams of 2nd tier and 1 team of 3rd tier) and so has a total of 9 tiers and thus has to pay 90 gp per week.
It's probably not perfect but it's something. I have a feeling that we won't pay much attention to this as the PCs level up but we'll see.

Should not be a problem since you guys currently have 3,750 gp in 'common funds' and a few scrolls and potions (see loot table at end of last turn recap).
Someone please finalize and tally up the total of the purchases and I'll subtract the cost from the common funds.
BTW: Rowan already has a weapon (free, well she 'paid' with a story :)).
Questions?
Tillia
Hmm, I think I need to start saving so I can begin making that headband of vast int soon. Only 1800 gold to go.
Overall Caleb's purchases sound good to me.

Action 3
With more information now available about the possible location of Rexus mother Tillia listened intently and then said, "At least we're somewhat familiar with the area." She looked at Forvian and Korva as she asked, "Are there any approaches where we won't be seen or any obvious problems with getting inside of the place?"
Is Forvian and Korva (and their teams?) with you guys at the Fantasmagorium?
I'm assuming the scene below happens at the coffeehouse...

She looked at Forvian and Korva as she asked, "Are there any approaches where we won't be seen or any obvious problems with getting inside of the place?"
Forvian shrugged, "Well, we didn't try to get in but the area is pretty much a run-down place that no one pays much attention to. I don't think being seen from outside will be an issue."
OK, I have enough to recap but not enough to move this game forward. Are you guys going in? Between early morning and midday as Eirik suggested? Are you going in the front door and trying out Rexus' key? I need to know something...
Eirik Clausen
I'd say one team is enough... I don't think it's fair to drag them into the fire as cannon fodder, but they'd be abound, keeping watch, and we'd have some signal to call for help if things get too dicey. Of course, if we are assaulting a building that might have who knows what sort of cellars beneath it, even that might be difficult unless we end up needing them very soon after we begin.
Tillia
Whoops, sorry, thought that we were at our base talking to them, that was the idea anyway.
Action 3 con't.
Tillia noded at Eirik's suggestion and said, "I think going in midmorning would be fine, and since it seems we'll be unobserved regardless then we might as well have the key. If nothing else using thatkey could somehow give an all clear signal of somekind and allow us to bypass traps in some manner."
Eirik Clausen
Front door is good enough for me, if it can be reached in cover of some kind. If it's too exposed, might try other entrances. And someone skilled at traps might want to take a look before we start fiddling with locks. Someone lives there, the neighborhood being what it is, might well have taken some precautions.
Fabian Benavente
Ok, so we are about to enter a 'dungeon crawl' so I'll need a modus operandi to speed things along.
Here's what I will assume unless you guys tell me otherwise.
- you will use magical lighting where needed (Rowan, Caleb, and/or Tillia);
- you will check for traps (who will do this?);
- you will take 20 on perception checks (meaning you spend at least two minutes examining each area);
- you will open up doors 'randomly' unless there's an obvious choice for you to make (i.e., I won't ask you between two locked doors but I may ask you between a locked door and an arched entryway);
- how will you treat locked doors (smash or pick lock)?;
- what about a general marching order (i.e., who will enter rooms first, last, etc.)? and
- anything else that I am missing?
I intend to recap tonight.

If Vandomir doesn't get lockpicking with 3rd level then we will probably need to take Forvian with us to deal with the locks - wasn't he a rogue of some sort? If this is the case, Rowan will stay close to him as protection. Rowan is good with going first. She may not have a lot of hitpoints but she is part meat-shield.

You have a key in this instance so I rather leave Forvian outside of 'regular adventuring'.
Fabian Benavente
Please bot Rowan from Tuesday to Saturday. I'll be having foot surgery and don't think I'll be mentally present to post anything during that time. Afterwards, I should have a lot of time as I recover.
Ok, I hope everything goes well and, who knows, if you're bored and want to 'come out and play', you are always welcome. :)

Here's what I will assume unless you guys tell me otherwise.
- you will use magical lighting where needed (Rowan, Caleb, and/or Tillia);
Agreed. Note Caleb has low light vision, so gets "double range" from most light.
- you will check for traps (who will do this?);
Not Caleb - he's terrible at it.
- you will take 20 on perception checks (meaning you spend at least two minutes examining each area);
I think as a general rule this is fine. I can see "race against the clock" situations where it doesn't apply, but I think they'll be obvious in game.
- you will open up doors 'randomly' unless there's an obvious choice for you to make (i.e., I won't ask you between two locked doors but I may ask you between a locked door and an arched entryway);
Great.
- how will you treat locked doors (smash or pick lock)?;
IF NEEDED then at level 4 Caleb can pick up Knock. That'd give us a number of 'free doors' we could open. Someone with Disable Device might be better though. One of the characters with skill points can get it ;P
- what about a general marching order (i.e., who will enter rooms first, last, etc.)? and
Caleb is low AC and low HP. I'd like him at the back, and habitually using Stealth. I want him to be fragile, and to be treating that as how he rolls.
- anything else that I am missing?
* Archer team on backup
* "standard equipment" I think everyone should have, such as a Tindertwig.* Something to ensure we can keep an exit between us and the archer team (something to discretely chock open doors, for instance). Unless we're in full stealth, we use it.
* I'd like us to buy a "get out of jail free" item. Not sure if we can at this level though. Something like Aegis of Recovery would be perfect. No-one wants to lose 1500gp, but better than going down. Rule becomes, "your aegis breaks, we abort".
* I'd like us to look at some sort of cheap Scent Cloak. OOC I don't think we'd be tracked by dogs, IC we should be terrified of some sentient Hell-Dog tracking us down.
Caleb Cage
Is it okay if I put together a shopping list?
Would it be okay to get Tillia to put together the scrolls of mage armour we talked about (or is she okay to cast them).
Regarding the potion: probably Darkvision is the best to get. At the moment a single Darkness spell would basically kill us all.

Please explain further (remember that I'm slow :))
By 'archer team backup', you mean Forvian and his team being able to reach you in under 1 minute once you signal them (have to go outside to signal)?
'Standard equipment' doesn't cut it for me. Please detail what you want to have.
How will you ensure to keep an exit between you and the archers?
If you want an Aegis of Recovery (which I didn't know existed), then just let me know and I'll discount from the money available.
Idem with the scent cloak.
Yes, please put together a shopping list and we'll assume that you can get most everything as long as you have the money for it.
Tillia and mage armor scrolls: did you want her to make the scrolls or be able to read them?
Potion of darkvision is fine by me.

Well, needs group input, but:
* Alchemist's Fire* Holy Water
* Smokestick
* Signal Whistle
That should get us all a "run away" item, and enough that if we unexpectedly run into undead, devils, or swarms we should be able to all do something.
I'll put it on the shopping list, I guess.
How will you ensure to keep an exit between you and the archers?
Carry a chisel, a hammer, a number of chocks and some nails. Just need to make sure doors don't shut (and lock) behind us. Guess we'd try to avoid climbing ropes or ladders where we could as well.
Idea is someone could move back at speed.Sorry - can't quite afford it yet. More a "would you be okay if we worked towards getting something like this made by Tillia for everyone"
If you want an Aegis of Recovery (which I didn't know existed), then just let me know and I'll discount from the money available.
Wow, Idem is a word I haven't run across before. Neat. I have the feeling there should be something cheap for stopping tracking that isn't alchemically perfect. Chilli powder, skunk juice, or something. Is there? If not, will have to wait until we are richer.Idem with the scent cloak.
Okay - right, fellow PCs, throw me "please buys"Yes, please put together a shopping list and we'll assume that you can get most everything as long as you have the money for it.
Both, I guess. I feel bad about asking a PC to burn spells buffing other people.

Rowan Drovenge
Action 1:
Don't have that knowledge skill so I can't help.
Rowan walked through the room looking at all the supposed mythical beasts and other oddities. It was hard to believe that any of the stuff was real. In her mind, if the items were real then they wouldn't be still rotting here.
Action 2:
Rowan drew her weapon and moved forward to engage one of the skeletons. One thing she knew, her morningstar would enjoy shattering the animated bone.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Alas, she wasn't completely used to the new weapon as of yet and missed wildly.
I had wanted a shield for Rowan and meant to include that with what Elsbeth gave her but it had slipped my mind. Any chance that could have happened or do I need to add that to our 'shopping list'?
Caleb Cage
Alright I'll put the list together tomorrow morning. Can everyone please send me anything they want overnight (or scream 'no' loudly).
Depending on what happens, there's a good chance Caleb is going to retreat/fight defensively/hide. Memories of last time are too fresh in his head.
Eirik Clausen
Action 1
So the lock seemed well cared for... any signs of someone having picked it showing? Or is it reasonable to presume whoever's using it has his own key?
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Eirik fingered the lock on the front door thoughtfully, turning it this way and that as he inspected it for any telltale scratch marks that would indicate someone fumbling with lockpicks.
"Others had been using this door, or so we were told," he mused. "I wonder if they have their own key - I'd not imagine they would keep locking the door behind them if they needed to force it open time after time. And if they have a key, is it because they found one or because they are entitled to it...?"
Action 2
Two animated attractions rose to challenge them, and Eirik was secretly pleased he'd not have to try out his newfound skills against a living and breathing foe just yet. Seeking to keep the creatures away from the spellcasters he rushed forth, hitting one of the skeletons with a push kick that unfortunately failed to knock the creature back. Not only that, but hitting the mass of bones and sinew seemed to hurt Eirik himself almost as much as it had damaged the beast.
Unarmed: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Unarmed, damage, lethal: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Moving behind one of the critters to enable flanking for either Vandomir or Rowan. Or to challenge the lone enemy if Rowan goes to help Vandomir with his monkey.
Vandomir Jarvis
I'm back. Seems I missed quite a bit.
Some talk of wages? Losing all of our gear? Leveling up?
Vandomir will be taking another level of Ranger. Which at 3rd level, I do get trapfinding.
So, I guess all of the silver raven figurines were taken? SEE, we should have just sold them for the cash anyways, hahaha.
What gear do we have now then, since everything was stolen? Losing my family signet ring isn't good!
Background skills, weren't we using them already? If not, then mine is for my stonemasonry skills. Are we doing 1 skillpoint, or 2 per level?

I felt sorry for you guys and assumed that the silver raven figurines were left at the coffeehouse, no need to carry them on a 'night raid'. :)
You lost your all your weapons and valuables, which in your case would includes your signet ring.
Let Caleb know what you want to buy because I'm inclined to let you guys buy weapons 'retroactively' since you'll soon find out, you're in the middle of combat. See the loot table at the end of the last turn recap for an update on what's in the 'coffers'.
1 skill rank per level for 'background skill' (non-adventuring).
Welcome back!
Tillia
I'll get something posted either tonight or the morning (probably morning) as I got roped into a second shift today at work.
Vandomir Jarvis
So then, I guess my gear requests would be:
Composite Longbow [+2] and arrows
Greatsword
Armor (Medium or Lighter)
Thieves Tools (MW preferred)
Climber's Kit
Crafter's tools (stonemasonry) (MW preferred)
Vandomir Jarvis
Ok, so I think this is me.
Once I know about gear, I'll post my statblock in full for you in my profile Fabian.

+1 Bab
+1 Will
+10 Skill Points (6 Class, +1 Human, +2 Int, +1 background)

+2 Disable Device (1 skill rank, +1 Trapfinding)
+4 Heal (1 skill rank, Class Skill) (total of +5 now I believe)
+1 K (dungeoneering) (1 skill rank)
+1 Perception (1 skill rank)
+1 Perception vs traps (Trapfinding)
+1 Stealth (1 skill rank)
+1 Survival (1 skill rank)
+2 Swim (2 skill rank)

Favored Community (3rd level Urban Ranger) - Kintargo
+2 Initiative, K (local), Perception, Stealth, Survival when in Kintargo – Favored Community
Feat: Rapid Shot
As an aside, do recall that I am effectively a “dwarf” when it comes to hidden doors and secret areas, I get a free perception check when within 10’ of such things.

No need to buy armor, that was left by the thieves.
You can assume the rest has been bought since I think there's enough money in the common pool for this. I'll check later once the final list is presented but it should be OK.

I'm good with the list. I'll add the items and subtract the cost from the common pool.
If we have holy water, I think Caleb'll throw that. Does that need knowledge:religion?
No need for that, I figured it's common knowledge for 3rd level adventurers.
If I get posts from Tillia, Vandomir, and Caleb (or at least 2 of them) in the next hour or so, I'll recap tonight.
If not, it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Tillia
Sorry for the significant delay.
Scrolls, I will run some off for Caleb, how many days have I had in which to do so?
Also, I forgot to write in my bonus 2nd spell for my int so I simply added another glitterdust. I already have my usual mage armor spell cast on myself and 1 scroll of it on Caleb right before we entered the place.
Action 1
When they reached the area with the backup team Tillia held a finger out and Salina landed on it. She looked at the little bird and said, draconic, "If I send a pulse of panic to you I want you to alert the backup team by telling them 'help' alright?" the bird tweated acknowledgement and she poured some seed into her hand for Salina to eat as she said to Forvian, Salina will stay with you for now, if she begins to say the following word," she repeats the word help in draconic, "that means we need your assistance immediately. Don't delay."
With that accomplished Tillia followed the others to the door and inside the building though she stopped and said, "Caleb, wait a moment." She pulled out a scroll and cast it upon him, a shimmery outline of armor appeared briefly around him, "There, that should do it." As they explored she found the room of "macabre creatures" fascinating and disturbing, "I've never heard of these creatures before, fascinating." The ring they found she took in hand and spent a brief time examining it's magical properties before she was ready to continue.
Spellcraft on the ring: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Action 2
With the sudden attack of the skeletons Tillia did the only thing she could think of and cast one of her most recent magical accomplishments, a burst of sparkles appeared in the air and coated the two skeletal creatures in sparkling powder, particularly around the eyes, and then quickly moved back into the safety of the party.
Std: I cast glitterdust, I should be able to get both and not hit allies if the map is right. DC 15 will negates the blindness, they get a new save each round that they fail.
Move: 2 squares to Rowan's left.
Vandomir Jarvis
Action 1
Vandomir moved through the room, the many odd displays catching his eye. He tried to discern any signs that the place was inhabited by humans.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 +2 vs humans, +1 to locate traps, +2 in Kintargo
Action 2
The large creature surprised Vandomir, but he managed to avoid its blow. He moved to ensure he was flanking with Eirik before he brought up his replacement sword and swung it at the hairy creature...
Greatsword: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 2 = 16
Greatsword Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 4) + 3 = 12
The blade cut through the hair and the gristle of the creature, and the blood began to flow, but Vandomir said, "I still prefer my old blade."

Turn 068 is up.

Caleb Cage
you did - it was pretty much everything I was going to do anyway...
So - did I just see that no-one damaged one of these things except Caleb?
Surprised to find himself one of the team's primary damage dealers, Caleb called out "Use the holy water!"
He followed his own advice, closing slightly and arcing his last vial over Eirik's head from 10 feet away
throw-wounded-into combat: 1d20 + 3 - 1 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 1 - 4 = 14 damage: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4
Eirik Clausen
Lessons of humility be damned, times like this made one wish the encounter with the Jills had gone differently, and he'd still have his armored bracers to deflect blows with, Eirik thought as he put aside the pain and stepped to one side of the skeleton. He felt warmth suffuse his limbs as energy flowed from his abdomen into his extremities, and this time, when his fists connected, they cracked old, dry bones, shooting jets of dust and bone shards into the air.
Flurry, unarmed: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Flurry, unarmed: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Damage, unarmed, lethal: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Damage, unarmed, lethal: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
If the thing is still blinded when Eirik hits, it's going to lose AC bonus enough that both strikeswill hit. If it makes its save, only the first one will.
