Group one: We Be Goblins (Inactive)

Game Master TheHairyAvenger

You are goblins of the Licktoad tribe, who live deep in Brinestump Marsh, south of the hated man-town called Sandpoint. Once, other goblins tried to burn Sandpoint down, and they would have been legends if they had succeeded. But they didn’t bring enough fire, and got themselves killed as a result. Yesterday, your tribe discovered that one of your own had been using forbidden arts and was engaged in one of the greatest of taboos—writing things down. In fact, rumor holds that what he was writing was a history of your tribe! There’s no swifter way to bring about bad luck than stealing words out of your mind by writing them down, and so your tribe had no choice. You branded the goblin’s face with letters to punish him, which is why everyone calls him Scribbleface now, and then you ran him out of town, took all of his stuff, and burned down his hut.

That’s where things got interesting, because before you all burned down his hut, Chief Gutwad found a weird box within the building. Inside was a map and a lot of fireworks—fireworks that immediately came to use in burning the hut down. Then, this morning, Gutwad announced that tonight there would be a feast in order to drive out any lingering bad luck from Scribbleface’s poor decisions. But perhaps even more exciting, all of you have been secretly invited to meet at Chief Gutwad’s Moot House. Why would the chief want to speak to you? It can only mean that he’s got an important mission for you all... one that the other goblins of the tribe couldn’t pull off. This could be your chance to go down in Licktoad history!

Recruiting for We Be Goblins (obviously). Only looking for 4 players, may take one more if there are two many to chose from. I am a new GM so please be patient with me.

Creation Rules:
  • First Level
  • 20 point buy
  • Average Gold for classes
  • Max HP at first
  • Two traits
  • Alias is not required until you are chosen, however a full character sheet and good backstory of your character is.

If you are new or old to pathfinder I think this could be a very fun adventure to run!!!

Any Questions? Anything I have missed?

I've never played in We Be Goblins (to be honest, I've never played a goblin) but I've heard it is a blast (In some cases literally) so I'm dotting for interest and will try to have a concept up soon.

Would love to run this! Haven't yet

    Scrapknee's Background/History:

Scrapknee earned his name via his profession. When he was very young, the old priest of Lamashtu declared it was time for new youth to join the service of the goddess through various trials!

Loosely translated, this meant the old fart was tired of fetching and carrying for himself and wanted some young idiots to do it for him. Compeition was fierce, and frankly, Scrapknee wasn't sure he was going to survive some of the rivalries.

Realizing he had no one to turn to really, he groveled for aid from the Demon Mother. He begged in a fawning fashion. To his surprise, she granted him spells (Weak ones) before all the others! This was seen as a sign of her favor (or perhaps she was just tired of the little sychophant).

Since then, Scapknee has served the mad goddess with fear and reverence. Frankly, he sometimes wishes he could have a NICER goddess to serve, but you dance with the deity that brung you. So he's done ugly rituals, and even learned common from sacrificing some humans. He started out learning the human words for "Knife!" "Help!" "Mercy" and soon moved onto complex sentences so he understood things like "My brother is a ranger and he's going to kill you all I swear it!"

The Scribbleface situation was scary to him. Words are dangerous! Written words more so. So he was glad when the guy was exiled. On the other hand, he can't blame the fellow for having sought out power. I mean, who doesn't want power? It's about the only thing that keeps you from being everyone else's doormat.

Of course, Scrapknee realizes he's going to go through life being his Goddess' doormat, but he accepts that with a certain forlorn resignation. To his credit, he's actually pretty good at sucking up and manipulating folks wth his preaching.

    Dotting for interest!

Darts Torchfist, yellow goblin also known as 'Lemonhead'.

I like the background Ridge :D Scrapknee sounds good!!!

Thanks, actually, there were typos in my hastily made backstory, it's supposed to be Scrapeknee, not scrapknee, but I can fix that if he gets selected ;)

Here is Snark, Goblin Gunslinger and tinker

The sheet is done and under the alias

    Background
Snark wasn't really an impressive Goblin. He was quick, but others were quicker. He was strong, but others were stronger. He was smart, but others were smarter. He was small, and well he was small, smaller than any of the other full grown Goblins. They always picked on him: They would tie his big ears together while he slept, throw creepy-crawlies at him and one time even set his bed on fire. His only friend was his toad Croaks, the 14th as the other Goblins had killed all his predecessors.

When he had enough of the bullying Snark would always sneak off in the night and vanish for a few days before returning. Once, on what he considers a fateful night, he came across a scene on the road: A small caravan of humans was being attacked be ferocious Orcs, it was further away from home than he had ever been. Snark looked on from a distance, appreciating the scene. Eventually the Orcs killed all the humans and they took the bodies of the people, and of the horses, with them. Seeing this as his chance Snark ran out into the wreckage to scavenge and there he found it: A battered old musket. Clearly those idiot Orcs with their empty brains had stamped on it as it was broken. But Snark was smart and he could fix it. It was his lucky day though, as among the wreckage he also found a small chest which contained the tools he needed, or figured he needed, to repair it. Mumbling his thanks to great Zogmugot, Snark went to work.

Several days later he made his glorious return. The gun worked. First the Goblins that always bullied him laughed when he returned, hands all black and sooty smudges in his face, but they stopped laughing when Snark shot them in the foot. Now they leave him alone, afraid he'll shoot other bits as well.

I have a question--i have the Goblins player companion and a 3rd party called Dread Codex Goblins which features a goblin rogue archetype called a Striker. Can I use it?

    Slicy 9 Toe,

I was working on my character and thought it would be cool to throw this on it snark.

    Background:

Slicy was born to the licktoad carpenter(father) and her mother was a fighter. Her mother was eaten by an alligator in the marsh three months after she was born and she was raised by her father and became extremely strong and good with axes. She became good at crafting with wood but preferred to kill things with the axes than to chop wood. Her father would punish her by making her sharpen the axes everyday.

Growing up with the other Licktoad children she liked to pick on the boys she liked and did many funny things to Snark and his toads.

Then one day she saw Snark covered in black and she thought it was funny and laughed until her toe was shot off. Now she has an even bigger crush on Snark and tries to show off by being very foolhardy in fights. She is afraid of him now but is even in more love than before.

Looks good everyone I am liking the backgrounds. I will say that I like it when people link characters especially for this adventure as you will obviously all know each other so feel free to work together on backgrounds.

This is not needed but a nice touch ;)

Edit: I haven't heard of this Archetype, so if there is a link to it that would be great. Then I can have a good look and decide.

I submit Nuggle. I'm going to tweak his crunch when I get home, but the story and basic premise should be good.

    Wow, that looks great Insnare

As for the Archetype, you mean the musketmaster?
    http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/gunslinger/archetypes/paizo--- gunslinger-archetypes/musket-master

I figured a single weapon would fit the character. He has only figured out how to operate this musket, give him a pistol and he's more likely to blow himself up than to shoot it properly.

Goblin with Guns is pretty awesome I was hoping someone would jump on it!!! Sounds all good to me.

@Darts: Never heard of a striker. Could I get some more info please.

    @Nuggle: Hey looks good :)

I am liking the applications so far :D

Thanks. Like I said, just need to make sure he's within regs. Unlike a certain double-bladed sword wielding Dhampir. ;)

I would like you to meet "PieMuncher" "Bog Druid" hes a bit fat and well likes his pies when he can gets um, but hes a go-do goblino, makes ya better hes dos, just holds still leach need slapping on, suck um sick off, yeps!

Unless Insnare objects, I think Scrapeknee may inform Slicy that she really should get pregnant. It's what the goddess wants, but hey, if she wants the father to be Snark, he'll put in a prayer for her chances. ;)

    Fluff:

Vilthik casually swatted at a dragonfly as he skulked through the tall grasses of the marsh, stepping lightly in the mud, pushing the reeds apart. He knew how to go about unnoticed in the wet terrain, but his quarry was less learned in the matter, it seemed, as their bootprints made obvious. He could smell them, too, though it was know tracking scent, merely the one left cloying there in his nostrils from when he had last seen them, a constant offense to this particular goblin. He quickened his pace, slipping this way and that through the rushes, stopping every now and then to listen. The buzz of mosquitoes and dragonflies and bullfrogs and crickets added a soft ambience, a focusing theme for hunting. He heard them over the insect serenade after a short while, talking in their pompous tongue that the goblin had pained himself to learn. They complained of the deep mud and the stagnant water and the biting bugs and the goblins. The goblins most of all.

Vilthik crept closer, staying low in the reeds until he could see them again. They were young things, would-be slayers playing at heroes. No doubt they were seeking to avenge some wrong, perhaps even some slight perpetrated by Vilthik himself. He looked down at the string of tongues looped about his belt and smiled wickedly. Perhaps they had come looking for one of them. Regardless, they did not seem like they would be trouble, armed with their simple spears and hatchets and wearing no armor to speak of. They thought goblins would be easy prey, no doubt, but even Vilthik could not deny that many were. Vilthik was different, though; he was always hunter, never prey.

Soundlessly he set an arrow to string and waited for the humans to stop again, wiping sweat from their brows and swatting at mosquitoes. A crane called out from somewhere as the arrow struck one of the two in the back. He cried out and stumbled to his knees while his comrade wheeled about, suddenly afraid, gripping his spear so that his knuckles were white. Vilthik shot him as well, in the leg, and he staggered, dropping his spear in surprise.

The goblin leapt from the rushes then, axe and sword in hand, and swept up to the downed human, a menacing purpose in his stride. The second cried out “goblin!” and made attempts to locate his spear. Vilthik stood over the first human but did not take his eyes off of the second as he pulled out the creature’s tongue and sliced it off with the honed edge of his handaxe. The human screamed as blood gurgled into the water. The second had stopped looking for his spear and was staring, wide-eyed and shaking. Vilthik let the human suffer for a few more moments before slicing his throat.

“My marsh,” he said to the remaining intruder in the common tongue. He stared at the human, allowing him to back away slowly. He goblin grinned wickedly as he did so, finding much joy in knowing that these humans had come expecting to find some easy killing among his kind. The human turned to run as best as his leg would allow, and Vilthik let him go, tongue and all.

Someone had to tell his people of Vilthik Manytongues, after all.

Vilthik is a goblin weaned on the stories of the would-be destroyers of Sandpoint (as well as other human-killing expeditions) to the point of idolization. His hatred of humans has been ingrained within, bred into him as easily and naturally as speech. He always had found what he believed to be flaws in these stories of human-hunting, though. His people rarely had tact or focus, and though it pained him to do so, Vilthik had to admit that the humans did. And so he practiced these arts, of watching and studying and hunting, that he might become a source of underestimation. Humans would always be expecting certain things from goblins, he thought, so what better way to kill them than to go against those notions? First he had to teach himself to be brave and courageous, to stand and fight while others ran. His determination would throw humans off their guard, he theorized. He must not fear them, but rather make them fear him. Then he taught himself how to find them, to pursue them, to watch them without ever being seen. He studied him that he might kill them better than other goblins.

When he learned to speak their language, he had to fight off the shame, so he started collecting their tongues. They always spoke with such superiority, so he found that he liked stealing their ability to do so. He took their power when he took their tongues, and wearing them openly on his belt earned him the name Manytongues.

Since mastering himself, he has always tried to teach others of the tribe what he has learned, though many have been very dismissive of him. Goblins will be goblins, after all, and even Vilthik cannot deny that.

Vilthik is a very stone-faced and solemn goblin who lives for little else but the hunt. He often thinks himself quite above other goblins, being focused and determined and clear-headed in most things.

    Farg-farg
    Cavalier order of the Cockatrice
    Mount: Wolf -"Fangface"

    Back story:
Farg-farg hated Rumpkle. Rumpkle was always better at everything, fighting, singing, even when Rumpkle thought he had found his special calling, lighting his own flatulence in a large and beautiful fireball, Rumpkle's fireball was bigger and even had a shade of blue in it.
The young goblin had had it after one night Rumpkle set him on fire with a majestic blue flame from his backside. Needless to say Rumpkle, who really was better than Farg-farg at everything, beat him senseless (er) and set him on fire once again. Farg-farg ran away that night, out into the swamp to find some good clean mud to rub on his burns when he ran into a black mass of teeth. Farg-farg nearly soiled himself, until he realized the mass of teeth was not a dreaded ugly mean old dog. The ball of teeth was a wolf bogged down in the mud of the swamp.
At first Farg-farg was going to poke it with the sharp stick he found but the wolf turned his head and whined at the goblin. Farg-farg felt something strange. Something he had never felt before and for once he did something sort of un-goblin like. ”Farg-farg help you from mud. You no eat Farg-farg or Farg-farg come back and follow you like crazy scary ghostie.” The young goblin worked and worked to free the wolf. Longer than he had worked in his entire life, and five minutes later the wolf was free.
Once free the black ball of teeth pounced on the young goblin pinning him to the ground and Farg-farg shrieked. ”I free you, you said you no eat! No eat! He closed his eyes as the tooth filled maw lunged at his face, and instead of sharp teeth he felt something wet slap him in the face. ”What you do? Why you do that? Get off of me you…you… fang face!” Strangley the wolf did just that.
Farg-farg got to his feat slowly as he watched the wolf just sit there and watch him. ”No eat…no eat Far-farg.” Slowly a smile began to creep across the goblins face as his thought began to form a plan.
Five minutes later he began to jump around with excitement howling and hooting before wrapping his little arms around the muddy wolfs neck and gigiling. ”You eat Rumpkle!”

The young goblin had heard stories of goblin heroes ridding into glories battle on wolfs such as the muddy one before him. Ok Fangface. I get on you back no eat Farg-farg.” Slowly the goblin climbed onto the wolf’s back and strangly enough the wolf did not eat the goblin. ”Ok now we go home, you eat Rumpkle I big mug mug, then they see.”
The next morning Farg-farg stood in front of Rumpkle’s hut and began stomping his feet and throwing rocks at the hut’s makeshift door. ”Rumpkle! You come out! You pay for catching me on fire with you fart! I kill you now!” Come out Rumpkle did, with the biggest dog slicer Farg-farg had ever seen, but instead of being scared, as usual of such a showing, the young goblin smiled and laughed. ”I got somethin’ new myself. Fangface! Kill this buzzard food!” A black ball of fangs flew into the camp, slamming into Runkle sending his dog slicer flying from his hands and pinning the goblin to the ground. Farg-farg moved quickly snatching up the weapon and bringing it down at Rumpkle with both hands. With a dull thump, the goblins head rolled away from his body and Farg-farg held his new sword up in triumph. ”See! Farg-farg best now! I make Rumpkle worm food quick! You all’s best treat me good or I feed you to Fangface! Farg-farg majestic now!
With that, Farg-farg grabbed ahold of Fangface’s neck and jumped onto the wolf's back. ”I like in stories now!” With the biggest smile full of teeth seen in years the goblin rode through the camp and behind the young Cavalier, little goblin children had already began to use Rumpkle’s head as a kick ball. It was the best day ever.

Korg the warrior ain't afraid of no dog

Korg acts as the local "bouncer", where the whole tribe is effectively the tavern. he has no special hatred for anyone, but hates to be pestered so if humans need to be killed he does it to make the whiners shut up, if hunting needs to be done he goes to hunt, and if someone who can read has to be kicked out he kicks them out good. Only to make those annoying voices stop already.

Do you need fresh meat? Korg go here. Do you need fresh corpses? Korg go there. You need a public executioner? Korg is best for the job. Do you need a hut burned? Just ask Korg, he will do it just to get you out of his sight the sooner the better. Just be sure not to annoy him too much or he will consider it easier to get rid of you instead of your problems.

concept: Korg is a barbarian, not sure about actual archetypes yet, he will either be a Titan Mauler (this seems to work out with the small size), True Primitive Invulnerable Rager, or a Savage Mounted Fury

if he becomes a Savage Mounted Fury he will actually get at lvl8 a dog as mount

I may take 2 levels in Fighter or Rogue later through, but he will be mainly a barbarian

the 3 songs that inspired Korg:
    numbah 1
    numbah 2
    numbah 3

Darts clearly isn't around from here,as his bright lemon yellow skin attests. He is also a bit of a freak, compared to the other 'normal' goblins of the Licktoad tribe. He cleans his teeth and ears,he bathes with SOAP,and he doesn't like senseless killing! Not only that,he tries his damndest to keep his clothing and gear clean and maintained. What does he think he is,a longshanks?!

Unusually quiet and surly, the yellow goblin, mostly keeps to himself far removed from any of the other goblins in the Brinestump swamp, which he claims to hate. He isn't a member of the tribe by choice---he was caught by a scouting party while staggering about in the swamp after a run in with an alligator after he finally escaped from the clutches of the dreaded cannibal witch,Vorka, who more or less enslaved him as her mate.Numerous scars from her teeth and nails tell of her 'affections'.Forced to join them or die---or get sent back to Vorka, he sullenly agreed to become a Licktoad.

However, its only a matter of time before he can make his escape, far away from this wretched swamp, that horrid female Vorka, and the rest of these 'lesser' gobs! He plans to slip into Sandpoint and go from there. He wants to find his one true friend, whom he refers to as 'Goat',and talks to an odd figurine carved in the likeness of a hornless bipedal goat he prizes like a treasure.

Also,he's much smarter than 'normal' goblins in the fact he can count, read, and write(BADLY) enough to use a map, manage money, and navigate signs in a human town.He keeps this secret after witnessing what the Licktoads did to Scribbleface. And he also thinks the entire 'writhing steals words outta your head' is bull, and disregards the goblin gods.

He's a good goblin---and he'll die trying to prove himself.Possibly even convert other gobs.He proudly considers himself better,an exception to his race, whom he's abandoned out of shame. All the while mooning the goblin gods.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

heh, I actually considered calling my goblin either Darts or Needles

Called him Darts coz he has high Dec...and he likes to throw darts at other gobs. :)

I considered an other, crazier concept before I choose the barbarian one, of a goblin who likes to knit, or poke out eyes with his needles

A goblin that knits his own clothing and gear and stabs foes with his needles...Reminds me of a animated film called Dragon Hunters where a warrior who liked to knit honestly stabbed the big bad skeletal SkullGreymon expy World Gobbler in the eyelight with his knitting needles.

damn, now that you mention it, I watched the series years ago, might have influenced me, good that I choose the barbarian then

Pulling out sorry just not feeling it.

This is Kozaric's cavalier Farg-farg fleshed out.

@Darts: I am going to say no on the Dread Codex stuff. I don't have the book so I don't think I would be able to accept that archetype. Sorry!!!

I have some very interesting backgrounds here I am liking them all a lot!!!

I think I will leave this open until Tuesday or Wednesday then decide shortly after that. I am really excited to get this started!!!

If anyone has a preference on day just speak up ;)

    preferred day: yesterday

    o.O

I hate to anxiously wait and get turned down again for the second game of yours.

oh well, goblins, goblins all around! /air guitar

I hate turning people down and saying that doesn't make me feel any better about it.

There is only 4 spaces and several applicants what do you expect me to do. I hate the waiting aswell and I know it is worse for the players (I've been there) so all I can do is apologise and hope that people don't attack me. Sorry if this sounds nasty it is really not meant to.

I will close recruitment now then. To those of you applying do you mind if there is no Arcane caster in the party?

I will make decisions today or tomorrow.

I don't know the adventure so I don't know if an arcane type is essential or not. I'm good either way

    Good luck, everyone

yes I know, not your fault, its just overall hatred towards needing to wait on my part for any kind of decision XD

when will you create the discussion thread?

I really think this will be a fun adventure to play in. In spite of missing a toe... :)

What I am willing to do is since there is 8 of you. (Counted like 6 times but might still be wrong. Is run the adventure for all of you but as two separate groups. Would you guys be interested in this. Means everyone gets to play with not too much extra effort on my behalf. However this may mean I cannot post as much to each individual one during the day.

    Group 1 will be:

    Scrapeknee
    Farg-Farg
    Snark
    Vilthik

    Group 2 will be:
    Slicy 9 Toe
    Korg
    Nuggle
    Darts

I will create Discussion Threads and link them here when I have a chance. I am running a PFBB We Be Goblins please DO NOT post in that discussion thread.

If you don't want to be a part of this anymore just say and that is fine.

It's late over here so may not get set up properly till tomorrow morning. :D

I can not wait to get started! I have been wanting to run a small cavaleir for a long time.

    Sounds dandy

    Works for me.

Inki Evileye is one of the scrawnier goblins in the Licktoad tribe. He was never picked for any goblin games unless he was the victim. But on his 4th year, goblins around him that he was mad at, had accidents. Inki had sacrificed many a small dog and puppy to Barkbreaker and was gifted with his witches gifts. The Licktoads learned to give the goblin with the different sized eyes a wide berth.
He has ingratiated himself with Chief Gutwad and is at his beck and call. He has found himself used as a step ladder and footstool but is no longer set on fire or cast into the hogspen as slop.

Group one check in here please :)

Group 2 check in here. got your discussion set up.

Sorry Bltz if anyone drops out you will definitely be in!!!

Guess I'll use the rogue prevent stats for Darts with any rogue archetypes in either the Goblins player companion or the Advanced Race Guide.
