So far, so good with us having a greater emphasis on ranged starts to these fights. Orc ferocity is an ability we have to compensate for somehow.

Also, on my sheet I brought 60 arrows of each type, not 20. If you are ruling I can only have 20 at a time, I suppose that is fair, but I already spent the money, so can I restock as I go at the first aid stop or something... will they have supplies for defending the town?

Nakoma, you are right, just half-a-minute left, which means likely no carry over into next fight.

Azen, per some PM's, I thought you decided to reduce the # of arrows carried to stay under encumbrance weight. You can leave the other quivers at the aid station if you like but if you carry all the arrows, your move speed (and some skills) will suffer.

Unless someone has reason to object, we should take the climbers' kits, grappling hooks, and rope. The tindertwigs could also be useful.

Perhaps Azen could use the masterwork lute?

Acacius will take the longbow and arrows. He is somewhat lacking in long-range weaponry.

I agree with taking whatever we can, but I'm not taking anything since I seem to be already overburdened.

I'll accept the encumbrance penalties rather than trying to cut down my list further. I doubt the arrows alone would put me under weight.


With a 14 STR, you can carry 58lbs before taking medium encumbrance penalties, as geared, Azen is at 57lbs with the extra arrows it is 69lbs. I will add the rest of the arrows back to your list and hold you at lower speed.

You also have enough cash on hand to get a MW backpack or other item that will increase your carrying capacity.


Acacius, i added the items you mentioned to your list. I did put 2 of the Climber's kits and one of the grappling hooks in party loot instead of on you. The rest went in your pack.

LMK if other items are of interest to take from the cart.

Unfortunately, I think you are still going off an old equipment list from a different character that I had copied in before updating to this one. I just totaled my actual equipment list and my stuff is over 100 pounds. Taking off the arrows wouldn't make a significant difference, but I can leave stuff behind.

If I keep only armor, weapons, and clothing I would be at 51:

Leather Armor -- 15 pounds
Explorer's Outfit -- 8 pounds
Bandolier -- negligible
Cold Iron Morningstar -- 6 pounds
Hopeknife (dagger) -- 1 pound
Composite Longbow -- 3 pounds
Blunt Arrows (60) -- 9 pounds
Regular Arrows (60) -- 9 pounds

I can also take my Ioun Torch and my CLW potion, since both are negligible, and I need my spell pouch which adds 2, bringing me to 53. Should probably take one of my sets of thieves' tools as well, which brings us to 54.

So, I'll leave all this behind at my house:

Bard's Kit (33.5 pounds)
Grooming Kit (2 pounds)
100 foot Silk rope (10 pounds)
Sets of Thieves' tools (1 pound)

I updated my profile to show what I am carrying and what I am leaving behind.


I think we're square on the encumbrance issues. Just so you know, the explorer's outfit gets counted as "free" in terms of weight, so you should be at 46, which is 12lbs below the max for light load.

Just a reminder, the group can pick up loot for the party to sell without it counting against personal encumbrance etc, but if you move it to your character sheet, it counts. By the same token, items that are in the "loot pile" cannot be used once combat round break out by any individual.

In this way, you can take all the weapons and loot in the orc cart for resale later if you like, but you cannot use them unless you claim them and bear the weight of it.

Ugh! Sounds like you might need a dose of that Soothe Syrup that's in the party loot pile to help with your Fort saves.

We're still in dire peril with level 2 reduced health against orcs that keep fighting even after you reduce their hit points to zero, without a way to group heal without healing them as well. We are seriously depleted as far as resources, and any of us could be killed in one shot. For instance, if you stand up, you could draw an AOO that will just down you again.

We have a chance, but only if we get really lucky and they don't. Our lives are basically in the hands of dicebot. We are back to five against two, but the enemy hits much, much harder than we do, with much higher chances of landing a hit.
