”I’m ready ter slay more giants!” Kraygan flexes, but does not charge off like one might expect. ”However, until we find some way ter keep th’ dragon out of th’ fight, I ain’t sure I’m ready fer th’ Tyrant. I think we need ter look ‘round a little more.”
No sleep til Brooklyn. Let’s hit another dark area downstairs. I’ve placed a big green arrow near a door on the 2nd floor.
| Alysendra |
"What are we looking for? Allies? Gold? Lunch?" Alys mutters in exasperation. "The object of our mission is literally on the other side of that door, and we're going to poke around in his closets instead?" She blushes, realizing she's let her emotions too close to the surface.
"Sorry. It's just... we don't need to kill every giant here. Just one - the Storm Tyrant. Yes, he's got a dragon - who doesn't want to work with him, who's controlled by a magical orb. Maybe we can get the orb, or block the control, or something to even the odds. But why risk raising the alarm and having the whole place come down on us in the meantime, just to look around? We can hole up and rest, regain our strength, and then return to finish this fight."
GM Tyranius
|
Alysendra skulks off around the stairs to try and get a better angle down the hallway to the southeast. Though the angle is not enough to see far down the hallway and the distance is just to great. For all she knows the Storm tyrant could still be there as the group argues ways to get rid of a dragon.
Sounds like there is a bit of confusion on where the group wants to go.
Farin Hogan, III
|
"I don't know how well it will work, but if we can identify the orb, I will try to sneak around the giant and steal it. But I don't want to just walk in there and get toasted, either."
GM Tyranius
|
So resting then checking the hallway? Not resting and checking the hallway? or not resting and retreating to the 2nd floor?
| Alysendra |
Resting somewhere safer than this room, and then coming back to this room to tackle the storm tyrant.
GM Tyranius
|
Thanks! I'll get a post up thiis evening as it can be a bit hefty and I am at work.

Heading back down to the engine level Wren replicates his hidden mansion for a peaceful nights rest before facing what could possibly be the Storm Tyrant himself. A mighty storm brews and cracks against the castle throughout the night. Thunder and lightning unlike anything you have seen in your life.
Though the group finds the night uneventful they also find themselves tossing and turning in anticipation of the unknown. This giant has already caused so much harm and destruction. While you have stopped an untold amount you obviously could not stop it all as this war machine hovers through the countryside.
Morning comes with silence of the grim determination. You all may not survive what is to come. You know that you failing could mean the death of hundreds of thousands. Slowly but surely you head back into the Storm Tyrant's planning room. The room is in shambles as desks and chests are upturned and destroyed in anger. The Storm Tyrant is not present but looks as if he returned to find his stuff missing.
Any buffs or anything before you peer into the hallway?
Wren.

The group prepares as they feast in the morning before heading off to their fates. Alysendra scrys the giant tyrant. She finds him down the same hallway as before. he seems to be concentrating greatly out the window as the castle glides across the land. Swooping past him outside is a gargantuan old red dragon. Standing to his left and right respectable are twin cloud giants.

Reaching the room and heading down the hallway you find such the view. Guarding Volstus are the twins. One wielding a massive bow and an axe while the other has a small bird-like air elemental circling around her shoulders. "My liege, they are here." Volstus turns his head, barely giving you a thought. "Be done with them quickly." His voice is filled with anger. "They ahve caused me enough setback and grief. Make them suffer greatly for it." Thunder cracks outside, nearly sounding like the walls of the castle are breaking down.

Nalbia leans in to the Storm Tyrant. "We can't fight in here." She lays a soothing hand on Volstus' arm, one of compassion that doesn't seem to be met in return. He responds coldly. "Go I'll be right behind you."
Nalbia drops from the break in the wall as she slowly begins to float to the ground outside.
Nalbur steps out of the path of the spinning starknives, dropping his battleaxe and drawing his bow. His movement hampered Nalbur calls down to his sister. "I'll hold them off for a moment more. Get Galescream here."

The Hammer of Thunderbolts flashes across the expanse and crashes with a grotesque crunching sound as it breaks Nalbur's face. As the hammer hits a powerful clap of thunder erupts stunning everyone within 90 feet.
@Everyone except Jorgan and Wren need to make a DC 15 Fort save or stunned for 1 round.
Volstus Fort save: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (2) + 22 = 24
Girallon: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Jorgan summons forth a second girallon as the first thunders across the hallway on all limbs. As it reaches Volstus it beats its chest.
AoO vs Girallon AC 18; PA: 1d20 + 38 - 6 ⇒ (13) + 38 - 6 = 45
Damage: 3d6 + 21 + 12 ⇒ (6, 6, 4) + 21 + 12 = 49
The girallon is sliced across the chest and hands as it swings at the Storm Tyrant.
Claw: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Confirm Crit: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
The girallon scratches Volstus across his abdomen.
Nalbur falls to the ground, dead on the spot. Wren's air elemental floats through the air as Volstus is left undefended. The air swoops over the Storm Tyran'ts face as his hair and clothes flutter. "You bring forth an air elemental against the Storm Tyrant! Naive fools."
Moving to the window Volstu's voice carries across the winds. "AKAZERTATH! COME TO ME...." What sounds like thunder claps seemingly come closer with lightning speed from outside. Volstus leaps from the balcony. Provokes from Air elemental. He disappears from sight as a massive wall of red appears, catching the Storm Tyrant as he falls. "I will tear this building apart around your ears." Lightning crackles around his fists and falcata.

”Damned yellow-bellied chicken!!” Kraygan roars as the Tyrant jumps away.
Have we seen any sign of the dragon orb on Volstus? Do we know if he needs to actually physically possess it to control it?

Fort save: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25
Penthae Fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
I can't tell which token is who... and what's the little green one? And are the controls of this castle still where the Storm tyrant was?
Alysendra watches the giants jump out the window, and sees the dragon, and then casts protection from fire on herself. She then uses her hasted fly speed and dimensional hop, if necessary, to get to where the castle controls are.

@Kraygan- You didn't see the orb in his hands but it very well could have been stowed away in his pack.
@Alysendra- The two enemies are outside the castle. There is lots of summoned aid in the hallway. One Air elemental and two Girallons. I have marked friendlies as yellow. Volstus and his dragon mount are purple while Nalbia is Red. The little green guy is an air elemental with Nalbia.
