Did I not find any servants on their way in or out of the manor grounds to intimidate?

Kenza follows the others, keeping lookout while Kahwen picks the window lock.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

When Kahwen pops the window open, Kenza climbs up after him, navigating the rope easily. Once inside, she looks around for evidence as quietly as she can.

Not going to be any help with those disable device checks, though. Haha.

I am REALLY regretting not picking up a set of Thieves' Tools, now. A master work kit is now on my shopping list.

Agile as he is, climbing requires more strength than dexterity so it takes Kahwen a few tries to get up the wall and get the ropes down to the rest.

He creeps up to the window and finds it locked. The paranoia of some people. Behind this wall and she still finds the need to lock her window. He pulls a feather out, testing the point then using it to try to spring the lock.

Disable Device minus improvised tool: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 9 - 2 = 21

When/if he gets inside, he starts to ransack the room...carefully, searching for any notes or tokens from Toth that will provide them information.

Perception1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

And for what comes up...

Reaver's Roar

Apologies Kenza, I missed that from your post.

Also, who all is coming with Kahwen? It is evening, so visibility is poor, and there are only a few guards around that seem relatively easily avoided (though there is always risk).

While Miles and Kalakang gathered information, Kenza opted to terrorize some poor servants to see what she could learn. Luckily, Kenza happened upon a maid who cleans the manor, including the Lady's room. The maid let slip that Lady Kaddren keeps her diary in a locked drawer of a jewelry box on her vanity.

Please don't read unless you are accompanying Kahwen:
Upon entering the courtyard, Kahwen swiftly darts across the grass to the window. He is deftly able to pop the lock on the window, and slip into the room unseen. With Kenza's information he is able to quickly locate the jewelry box in question. A very large mahogany jewelry box sits atop Lady Kaddren's vanity. Kahwen swiftly makes his way to the jewelry box as indicated by Kenza and examines it closely. He is able to pop the lock on it as well, and slides the drawer open ever so slightly. His keen tengu eyes detect a trap. If he continues to open the drawer any further, it will spring the trap.

Always over confident, Kahwen sets about collecting a set of bobby pins and mirrors from about the room to disarm the trap with, and he makes his attempt! And is greeted with a burning hands to the face.

burning hands, DC11 Reflex for half: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5

So Kahwen is singed (maybe), and the drawer containing Lady Kaddren's diary is open and ready for plundering. From outside, you hear Oi, what's that!? Intruders! What now?

apologies folks, coming off of some business travel.

Jeskit hangs back waiting for the away party to return.

Reaver's Roar

After the flames subside, Kahwen grabs the journal and bolts for the door. Kenza grabs a nearby dresser and topples it in front of the door. It doesn't totally block the door, but only allow it to open a small bit. The guard begins peering in, shouting, and trying to squeeze through. Kenza and Jeskit bolt for the door.

Escape Artist: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Unfortunately for him, he is unable to make it through and give pursuit. However, his shouting has attracted the attention of a pair of guards in the courtyard. They draw their longbows and nock blunt arrows as they look around for the intruders.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

One of them spots Kenza and begins moving towards her. She is able to grab the rope and scurry over the wall before they get in range. Kahwen avoids notice at first, but as he scrambles and fails to get over the walls, the pair of guards see him and begin to train their bows on him. He might be on the receiving end of some arrows should he fail to make it over the wall...

If Kahwen is able to make it over the wall:
Kahwen and Kenza come vaulting over the wall, journal in hand. You hear more shouting from the other side of the wall. It stands to reason, the guards are probably going to go around and attempt to find you on this side of the wall. I'll need some sort of skill check to allow the group to make good their escape. I'm cool with pretty much anything as long as you provide a good justification for how you're using the skill to get away.

If Kahwen does not make it over the wall:

Attack 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Attack 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

A pair of arrows go sailing by Kahwen's head and slam into the wall.

Excellent work! With this, we can surely get Lady Kaddren to drop out of the auction. For your next mission, I want you to visit Dr. Landis. I’m not sure yet how we can get Doctor Landis to back out of the auction, or if we fail, if we can outbid him; at least not until we know who is acting as his anonymous patron. I have a strange feeling about the whole thing. I doubt his patron has noble intentions and I suspect the good doctor is probably in a lot more trouble than he realizes. Go to the museum and see if you can get Doctor Landis to introduce you to his anonymous patron, or at least his patron’s contact. Once we know who it is, we can hopefully drive a wedge between the doctor and his benefactor.

You all arrive at the building. It is well kept and maintained, if somewhat unspectacular. This is obviously an institution that has its priorities in order, more interested with spending their budget on the artifacts contained within, rather than an ostentatious building. You are able to locate Dr. Landis within, in his office. Kalangkang cuts right to the chase in questioning

Oh, hello. I recognize some of you from the party last night, I think? The key? Yes, I am planning on bidding on it. It would make a fantastic addition to the collection here. Would you like to look around? We're about to close for the evening, but you can spend a few minutes looking around if you would like. As far as the benefactor goes... well, thats the thing about anonymous benefactors, not even I know who he is! So my dear fellows, I couldn't help you if I wanted.

Kahwen, you notice that, based on the sign outside the museum, they seem to be closing a bit early tonight for some reason.

She gets even more dour looking when he introduces Kalakang and company as his guests. She leans over and begins whispering to him, but you are unable to make out what they are saying in the noisy room. She eventually leans back and allows the conversation to continue, though she participates very little, even when directly addressed.

Perception DC16:
You notice a pair of small nail tattoos on either side of her neck. She appears to be attempting to hide them with her collar

If you made the perception (or someone who did tells you), Knowledge Local DC 16:
Those tattoos are indicative of an order of Hellknights, known as the Order of the Nail. They are tasked with recovering lost and holy relics.

Reaver's Roar

From what Kalakang knows of the order and the museum, he doesn't think that the order would really be that interested in the Key, but there are quite a number of artifacts in the Museum that the Order of the Nail would like to get its hands on. It seems quite likely that the Order of the Nail is trying to get some leverage over the Doctor that they can later use to secure other parts

Elias stares daggers at you for a moment, before curtly responding, We are old friends.

"I wonder if we will have to flee this time?" Taizen muses to Kahwen outside.

Reaver's Roar

She continues to be quite rude as she responds to your questions. Do I look like the waiter? And I'm sure your artifacts are quite impressive, but I'll pass. She reaches for her glass and takes a nice long swig of wine, followed by rubbing her temples and doing the best to ignore you and your conversation with the professor.

Sense Motive DC 16:
You think she is trying to wait you out, so she can discuss things with the Doctor.

You hear some shouting coming from the lobby.

What do you mean no reservation!? I sent my butler down here himself last week to make a reservation for tonight! Do you know who I am! I am Mr. Underhill, wealthiest halfling in this city!

You can hear the Maitre d' trying to calm the angry halfling down, though you can't make out much more of the conversation.

Not much of note is going on outside.
