"can you resist the urge to ride him"
Dayo looks at Justin with a more-confused-than-usual blank stare.
"Ride him? Oh. I. No. I took off his halter and saddle so he wouldn't have to be ridden ever again. Such a demeaning role, don't you think? Nobody on Little Beautiful rides other creatures. It's my hope Tongue Tongue does what he wants! I enjoy being his friend."

I don't have a strong reason to favor one over the other, so let's say the set of stairs we're positioned right by already on the map.
GM Woran
You carefully make your way down the stairs. Peeking round the corner, you see a single lantern hanging from a hook on the wall next to where the stairs enter the room from the north. Several rickety doors open into this room, and a few discarded dog pelt rugs lie forgotten in the northeast corner.
''Vitro'' Wizjietroczenon
Upstairs Vitro refreshed his mage armor, walking down he's armed once more with longsword.
''Vitro'' Wizjietroczenon
Vitro ushers everyone into the room, then signals to Dayo to continue.
GM Woran
As Justin also makes his way into the chamber, a tentacle shoots down from the ceiling, striking at the ratfolk.
tentacle: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
grab: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
The tentacle strikes Justin, and grabs Justin tight! Lifting him up to the ceiling.
initiative Vitro: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
initiative Justin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
initiative Snowflake: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Know. Dungeonering on the tentacle thing.
Tentacle thing is up on the ceiling. Reach or ranged would be needed to hit it.
Or maybe sacrifise justin to it and hope it leaves you alone?
Vy "Snowflake" Baro
Snowflake immediately casts liberating command on Justin.
twice my caster level on your escape check if I'm not mistaken. So a plus 6. Go wriggle and you can do that as a immediate action
Dayo
With my running start, it's only a DC 20 to jump up 5 feet, right? Then swing with my 5ft reach?
Dayo leaps in to...
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
"Is that a... Ceiling squid?"
...action and slices at the calamari hanging from the ceiling...
Small Broadsword: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13

"Could be, but I didn't know those were native t'Varisia..."
I swear, I meant to put a rank in K(d)...!
Oskar Dragenaev
I don't think so, but he has to use an immediate for the check, so no swift on his next turn. As ever, the usual "What the hell do I know" caveats are in effect.
GM Woran
Ah yeah, thank you for reminding me. I've been having a tooth ache and its radiating towards my brain giving me a headache. I've been trying to stay light on the painkillers, but sometimes I just brain fart. I'll get things fixed on monday, so hopefully I can go back to braining right.
Also, we're in a bit of a weird spot with jumping up and down to hit the ceiling squid. I'd say you can do that, but I would also say that that provokes. Is that agreeable?
Dayo
Sure thing!
Acrobatics to avoid AoO?: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Yeah I know Pathfinder doesn't like it if your attack isn't coming from a full stop. One player group I encountered at GenCon had apparently been combining a spell that throws another character (who then had a ring of feather fall) to deal massive damage to flying opponents, and I told them it was a grey area since the character would fall before they could attack.
They reasoned the one guy could ready his attack for when he became adjacent to an enemy, and they'd obviously been doing this tactic for a while, so I let them. But if you don't want to here, I totally understand.
GM Woran
Snowflake: Casts liberating command.
Dayo: Leaps up! The ceiling squid strikes at him with a tentacle!
AoE at Dayo: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
But both dayo and the ceiling squid both miss.
Oskar: Has no clue what the ceiling squid actually is.
Does oskar want to do anything else? Also, yeah, Pathfinder and movement is weird. But its weird in a lot of systems. I'm pretty fine with jumping up and slashing, as long as you make the acrobatics. I just dont think you can tumble in the air and attack. Benefit is, if you fail to jump, you also dont provoke.

Oh, absolutely! Gonna jump up, try and grab it, bring it down to us.
Oskar leaps up, doing his best to grab a big handful of... whatever, to haul back to the ground.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Grapple check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
GM Woran
Oskar: Jumps up. Grabs hold.... he hangs precariously in the air for a tense few moments....... then the ceiling squids suckers loose their hold under the weight of Oskar holding on, and it crashes to the ground! (together with Oskar)
Ceiling Squid: Not entirely sure what happened, the ceiling squid figure two can play this game.
tentacle at Oskar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
But hopelessly misses.

Vitro and Justin are up!
This is a tentamort.
Tentamorts are eerie ambush predators, preferring to let prey come to them rather than seeking food out, and relying on their excellent senses to warn them of approaching meals. A tentamort possesses several tentacles, most of which are used for locomotion but two of which have evolved for singular purposes in securing food. One of these longer tentacles is covered with tiny, sticky nodules and is capable of constricting prey, while the other ends in a long, thin stinger. The tentamort's method of attack is to grab its prey with its constricting tentacle and sting the grappled target with the other. Tentamort poison is particularly horrific, as it swiftly liquefies the creature's internal organs into a rancid slurry the monster can then drink with the same stinger, siphoning out the fluid with foul sucking sounds. Larger creatures often require multiple stings (and multiple failed saving throws against the venom) before they can be fully absorbed by a tentamort. Tentamorts are almost mindless, possessing just enough intellect to make crude animal judgments about peril and food. Once a tentamort has grabbed prey, it tends to focus entirely on that creature, ignoring attacks upon it from other sources as long as its current victim remains a source of nutrition. After a tentamort finishes consuming a creature, all that typically remains are the bones and skin.
