Omrax looks into the room, ignoring the fate of the last monolith.

He calls out to the two men, suspecting Zuberi is the one with his back turned.

He will detect evil on that man as he calls out.

"Zuberi - we are here to twart thy evil plot. Cease or we shall destroy you. ."

If Omrax detects evil on the man he will call out a smite of Iomedae as he sheathes his longsword...planning to switch to bow to shoot through the grate or greatsword to hack through it.

is the semi circle the iron bars?.

Is there anything stopping Sareth from manifesting his summon on the other side of that veil?

Kind of!

Quinn and Skybek drive their weapons deep into the last of Zuberi's guards. The giant man tumbles to the ground.

Out of combat! Really!

All eyes turn to the final chamber of Zuberi's tomb, a large room carved from black basalt and white marble is visible. On the far side of the chamber, behind a ring of iron bars, sits a wizened old man in front of three long, human-shaped bundles, holding a glowing green gem aloft with his eyes closed. In front of him is a mage, chanting and casting handfuls of dust into the air while performing an intricate ritual. The spirit that inhabited the ettin swirls around the body of the ancient, wizened man. With a silent scream it soars high through this arched chamber before diving back into the man’s toothless maw. In an instant, his body begins to wither, appearing to age even further, if that is possible. In sections, his flesh turns to sand, his hair to dust, his bones to ash. He crumbles before your eyes, leaving little behind aside from the riches and wealth that he valued above all else.

The mage seated opposite cries out in immense pain, his ritual and subject gone. Realizing the company behind him, he gives a slight tilt to his head to hear their approach. In another instant, he vanishes.

*pop*

Everyone please make a Perception check!

Sareth, Mrachni, and Omrax feel a slight physical pull toward the body-bundles on the floor in front of them.

Omrax: you got a ping from the old guy (but not the mage) momentarily, and then nothing from the ash.

Sareth/Quinn: did you include the Greater Heroism bonus in your check? Asking for no particular reason.

Amenopheus is the Sapphire Sage, and the green gem (which was being used as a receptacle for magic jar) lies shattered on the ground. Nevertheless...

Sareth can't be certain -- but the profile of the man's tilted head is enough to remind him of the Ruby Sage's trusted advisor himself: Amenopheus. You'll be shocked to learn that the DC was 35. And a Prestige Point depended on it! (Because you set off so many traps back at the Lodge.)

Omrax smashes through the iron ring and places Akila's wand on her body. Sareth and Mrachni follow suit with their own implements. The concubine spirits flow from their hiding places and sink, smiling, into their bodies to find eternal rest beyond Pharasma's Boneyard.

Finding only a bedroom and a false tomb in the remaining rooms, and Amenopheus's nephew also gone, the Pathfinders pack up what wealth they can and seal the tomb once more. Balentiir hosts an impromptu festival in the remains of the Lodge to honor his agents' heroism that a surprising number of Osiriani well-to-dos as news of the discovery and plot spread throughout the City. And soon into the Chronicles!

And the Echoes of the Everwar fall silent!

  • Lol oops, honest mistake. weird. Thank you Trex it's been an awesome mini campaign!

Sareth looks over after all is said and done, "This teaches me that there is no limitation on justice. Time does not weaken its call. May Sarenrae light their path to Pharasma."

On the way back Sareth is cintemplative, "I think the time has come for me to speak with Sarenrae about my future. I joined the Society for adventure, but since the Crusade, and after the echoes of this Everwar, I think I need to focus more on righting wrongs. This felt... Good."

"I had my doubts but our team and this mission removed those doubts. With stout allies and truly holy and righteous warriors, it was obvious evil would not prevail against us ."

The knight bows deeply, like Sareth, also wondering how much longer he will continue before seeking a higher path.

    "Travel safe my friends ."

Trex, thanks for that great run of scenarios! I had a blast!

Mrachni nods solemnly at his companions' words. "It has been an honor," he rumbles in reply. "For myself, I will continue to serve the Swordmistress in the way that she will show."

As he shakes his head slightly at Skybek's invitation, a hint of a smile appears on the orc's face. "Very well," comes the soft, deep voice, "I will drink with you."

Quinn's confusion at the turn of events towards the end gives way to the excitement which comes at the end of the mission. He practically dances the whole way back to civilization.

With a grin, he accepts the invitation for drinks, disappears for a few minutes, and finally rejoins his fellows with some friendly company for all. "What the ladies find so interesting in adventurers, I'll never know. But I am certainly fine with that mystery!"
