Unrak "Dreadful Bear" Redleaf
Unrak had to go down the stairs to retrieve his xbow--moved pog. Can he hear/see anything/anyone from where he is? Someone he may either shoot, or charge/stab?
GMTrex
Marc weaves another arrow, and Taranis another stone, through the webs at Ayles!
Unrak, like Zed, sees no doorways or other means of entry on the lower level.
Round XVI
1. Zed, Unrak, Augrym, Marc, Taranis (Toth 15/21hp)
2. Stag Lord's Creatures (Jex, Davon, Auchs, Jeb, Ayles @ 7 dmg)
Unrak "Dreadful Bear" Redleaf
Unrak hustles to the top of the stairs, and fires off a bolt at the trapped guard.
crossbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
damage: 1d10 ⇒ 9
...but it get stuck in the webbing, to no effect!
The big man lets out a vile oath of frustration.
Zed the Unbroken
- Round the Fifteenth
- Current HPs: 25/25
- Mage Armored
Zed steps up and dismisses his Web. 5' step west
GMTrex
Ayles: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Ayles grits his teeth against the noise and fires another arrow, this time at Augrym!
Bow @ Augrym: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 HIT Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Round XVII
1. Zed, Unrak, Augrym (24/30 hp), Marc, Taranis (Toth 15/21hp)
2. Stag Lord's Creatures (Jex, Davon, Auchs, Jeb, Ayles @ 9 dmg)
Taranis Redleaf
"Zed stay your wand for bigger prey. We've got this now!"
Taranis draws his sword and tries to give a quick slash, knowing the real danger comes from his feline companion.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 1 = 20 for DMG: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Tothfangen "Toth"
If up after Taranis's swing:
Toth mauls the poor bastard:
Bite: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 17 for DMG: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 and Acid: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Left Claw: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 1 = 19 for DMG: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Right Claw: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8 MISS
If dead:
Taranis directs Toth to seek out foes and attack in the northern room!
Augrym Ko’Charr
Augrym looks at the arrow in his shield shoulder, studies the stance of his new mortal enemy and takes a step forward to take a wild swing on the remaining bandit.
attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 211d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
”I do not care for the sight of my own blood. I will bathe in yours so I no longer think I’m bleeding. I know this does not seem sanitary, but who has time to worry about these things?”
GMTrex
Augrym quickly returns blow for blow, and Ayles proves himself less hardy. He sprawls next to his dying brother. Taranis, save your stroke. You can follow Toth if you like.
Toth races ahead to the next platform. He finds this one empty and quiet. Too quiet. From this northwestern platform, a makeshift walkway is formed across the splintered roof of the fort's main building, which leads to another set of platforms and a set of steep stairs leading back down into the gloom of the fort's first level.
Round XVII
1. Zed, Unrak, Augrym (24/30 hp), Marc, Taranis (Toth 15/21hp)
2. Stag Lord's Creatures (Jex, Davon, Auchs, Jeb, Ayles)
GMTrex
The Redleaf brothers rejoin as they press deeper into the fort.
Round XVII
1. Zed, Unrak, Augrym (24/30 hp), Marc, Taranis (Toth 15/21hp)
2. Stag Lord's Creatures (Jex, Davon, Auchs, Jeb, Ayles)
Zed the Unbroken
Round the Seventeenth
The fire-haired wizard clutches Marc's shoulder and casts Enlarge Person. Marc knows that in about the span of sex heartbeats, he will nearly double in size as the spell takes effect. For now, Zed continues his magical incantation and channels his power into his friend.
Casting time is 1 round, and range is 30' - so Marc can move, just stay within 30 feet.
Taranis Redleaf
Taranis watches for a moment as Zed casts a complex spell. "Down into the womb of this den. The Stag Lord sleeps in Gozreh's embrace this eve."
GMTrex
The heat of battle subsides, but the surge of adrenaline does not. It is painfully quiet in the pre-dawn light. Scuffles of movement deep within the bowels of the fort are caught by strained ears, but nothing more.
Round XVIII
1. Zed, Unrak, Augrym (24/30 hp), Marc, Taranis (Toth 15/21hp)
2. Stag Lord's Creatures (Jex, Davon, Auchs, Jeb, Ayles)
Taranis Redleaf
Taranis sends Toth across to the northeast to look for hidden foes while the druid does his best move forward quietly.
Stealth: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
GMTrex
Taranis winces each time the boards beneath him creak, but he hears no other sound save the wind. Toth sniff the air atop the tallest tower, but does not growl.
Unrak "Dreadful Bear" Redleaf
Unrak follows Taranis & Toth, still seething (keeping Rage turned on)
Marc Jorstad
|
Marc knows the hardest fight is coming and asks for Erastil's guidance casting divine favor +2 luck bonus on attack and weapon damage
He starts down the stairs to look for the StagLord.
Taranis Redleaf
I double moved Zed and Augrym. I also executed the spell on Marc.
GMTrex
The Huntsmen race deeper into the fort. Any attempt at stealth is ruined by the massive plodding of an enlarged Marc.
More of the fort becomes visible in the growing light. At the center of the ruins, thick stone walls surround a cracked and crumbling platform of heavy stone (central roof). Huge chunks of the roof collapsed long ago, shattering into the rooms below. Sediment collects in cracks and along corners of the remaining roof, sprouting tiny blades of grass and rivulets of moss. A bedroll on a pile of straw sits in the center of the platform, a small collection of toy knights and dragons surrounding it.
Augrym's eyes, long accustomed to the dark, spot piles of crates and barrels in the room beneath him. The brothers Redleaf see a mostly open room below them, although a curtain of tanned hides partitions off the small corner that still has a roof.
The hackles on Toth's neck stand straight. There is a whinny that emanates from just below Toth's tower, while a... squawk? and the light clink of metal is heard from somewhere beneath Zed.
Round XIX
1. Zed, Unrak, Augrym (24/30 hp), Marc, Taranis (Toth 15/21hp)
2. Stag Lord's Creatures (Jex, Davon, Auchs, Jeb, Ayles)
Taranis Redleaf
Taranis is going to delay until AFTER his brother, but I might get pulled into a busy day, so I'm posting now.
Taranis casts a spell of Flame Blade as he takes a thunderstone from his bandoleer. He knows he's not the greatest combatant, but flame is flame.
His ears pique to the squawk... Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Unrak "Dreadful Bear" Redleaf
Unrak lumbers down the stairs, eager for blood...
This is 20' of my first move. I need to see the lay in order to finish first move & probably do 2nd move
GMTrex
Unrak heads down the stairs (note: stairs are still difficult terrain due to steepness, so that is 30' of your move) and tries to adjust his eyes to the deeper gloom. To his west is an empty doorway, beyond which he can see stacked crates and barrels.
To the south is another empty doorway, beyond which he can see another room partially open to the sky. A charred roasting pit stands in the middle. He cannot see much beyond that from his current vantage.
In his current room, a leather curtain hides whatever is behind the southwest corner. The rest of the room is bare.
Just let me know whether you are investigating the curtain, moving west, or moving south (or something else).
GMTrex
The identity of the squawker is on the tip of Taranis' tongue... but he cannot place it. He feels... apprehensive.
Unrak "Dreadful Bear" Redleaf
COMPLETION...not wanting to be dry-gulched from behind if they go into a different room, Unrak investigates the curtain. and that's the rest of the round.
GMTrex
Unrak rips aside the leather curtain, which falls to the floor with a loud *fwump*. Behind it are a number of arms: bows, spears, shortswords, and other assorted gear. Toth clambers down and joins Unrak, and growls at the west--hackles raised.
Round XIX
1. Zed, Unrak, Augrym (24/30 hp), Marc, Taranis (Toth 15/21hp)
2. Stag Lord's Creatures (Jex, Davon, Auchs, Jeb, Ayles)
Zed the Unbroken
- Round the Nineteenth
- Current HPs: 20/20
- Mage Armored
Move & Perceive
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
What's up with the squak?
GMTrex
Augrym immediately recognizes the unmistakable cry of an owlbear. An adult owlbear.
My apologies on the earlier room description: there is no door to the west. I have updated the map to show what you can currently see of the first floor.
Unrak, closest to the center of the fort, hears the creak of a rusty gate being swung open. An instant later, he sees a figure run past his line of vision, heading south.
He recognizes the face. Sneeg.
From wherever Sneeg ran off to, he can hear the sound of swords being drawn.
Round XX
1. Zed, Unrak, Augrym (24/30 hp), Marc, Taranis (Toth 15/21hp)
2. Stag Lord's Creatures (Jex, Davon, Auchs, Jeb, Ayles)
Unrak "Dreadful Bear" Redleaf
Unrak bellows out SNEEEEEEEG! HEADING SOUTH!!! Brother, can Toth slow him down? More guys that way!! here he points his sword ot the source of the drawn swords, then lumbers over in that direction, with murderous intent.
it seems clear that Unrak doesn't trust himself, in his bloodlusted state, to be able to take Sneeg alive.
Once again, I'd liek to make a single move, then decide the rest of my action depending on what I see...
GMTrex
Unrak rushes after his quarry... and comes face to face with a recently-released, fully grown owlbear.
He sees Sneeg, too, tucked into a room further south... along with three of his fellow bandits. And behind them...
A tall man obscures his face behind a skull mask of a stag. His musclular, violent body is covered in terrible scars and burns. He draws back on a wicked longbow...
Next to THE STAG LORD is an older man in a full suit of armor, who looks carefully at the red-bearded newcomer.
Unrak "Dreadful Bear" Redleaf
ROUND XX, COMPLETION
Unrak's inner child is begging for violence...however, "enraged" does not necessarily mean "stupidly suicidal". He would gladly run into a battle against 2 or even 3 opponents; but charging toward an owlbear supported by a half dozen warriors is too much stupid to overcome the bloodrage. Unrak growls, and backpedals a bit, waiting for more support to arrive before letting the blood flow.
again ,assuming rough terrain, that's 30' more--and done. Tx for the info.
Hold up, Tar! Have Toth stand with me!!
Marc Jorstad
|
Marc moves to make a battle line and prepares to attack anything that comes into range:
AoO:
attack 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 4) + 10 = 18
attack 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17
damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 1) + 10 = 17
GMTrex
Unrak beats a hasty retreat, and is joined by Marc and Augrym.
The Stag Lord makes no reply other than to nock an arrow.
Round XX
1. Zed, Unrak, Augrym (24/30 hp), Marc, Taranis (Toth 15/21hp)
2. THE STAG LORD, Stag Lord's Creatures (Jex, Davon, Auchs, Jeb, Ayles)
Taranis Redleaf
Trex, given the angle, can Taranis see the owlbear from his current position?
Taranis Redleaf
Taranis continues to move forward, flame blade in hand. He lets Toth continue to guard Marc.
Zed the Unbroken
Can Zed see the dudes in the back of the pack?
GMTrex
Taranis joins the others on the first floor; behind him, Zed hurries to catch up.
Zed cannot see anyone at all from his previous position, friend or foe. I see that you moved your mini on the map, but you moved Zed 115 feet, which is well beyond a double move. A double move would have put you next to where Taranis was (before he moved), so I have put you there. A single move will get you close enough to see the owlbear through the broken corner of the room to your south.
The owlbear gives an echoing hoot and charges in for the easiest meal it can see: Toth. Marc swings over the tiger's head as the great predator lumbers forward, but the deep gash does little to slow the enormous beast's advance. It slashes with razor-sharp claws, but the tiger ducks.
Claw @ Toth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 MISS
The bandits nervously hold their ground. The Stag Lord grabs Sneeg by the collar and jerks him out of the way for a clear shot at Unrak. The first arrow crunches through ribs; the second ricochets off the wall.
Stag Arrow @ Unrak: 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 25 HIT Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 2 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 + 1 + 4 = 16
Stag Arrow @ Unrak: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 3 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 16 MISS
Round XXI
1. Zed, Unrak (24/40 hp), Augrym (24/30 hp), Marc, Taranis (Toth 15/21hp)
2. Owlbear (18 dmg), Stag Lord, Stag Lord's Creatures (Jex, Davon, Auchs, Jeb, Ayles)
Zed the Unbroken
yeah my bad... I thought I had PMed S to move me last round (move and perceive) since I was on my phone but scrolling back I apparently didnt. I plopped my mini next to the group since I was not sure of the path to get there.
GMTrex
Ah, okay no problem. Perception is a move action, so I will move you another 30 feet from last round. That puts you on the ground floor.
Marc Jorstad
|
Marc is still getting used to his new size and has to take a step back to take advantage of it. He then stabs ate the feathered bear.
attack 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 2) + 10 = 16
He then prepares to defend the group from anything that advances:
AoO:
attack 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 2) + 10 = 16
attack 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (5, 1) + 10 = 16
