The party searches the area and finds golden key in a mummified corpse’s pocket. This key glows when within 10 feet of the eastern wall. A few treasures have been stored in some of the caskets belonging to nobles interred here. You find a treasure cache which consists of a painting of a gorilla king in the Mwangi jungle worth 500 gp and a scroll of bestow curse.

Yushua will move the key around the eastern wall while detecting magic, hoping to find a keyhole.
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19

Before entering this door Yushua pauses to once again cast divine favor on himself. He will also cast protection from evil, communal on everyone and invisibility purge on himself.
+3 luck bonus on attack and damage for 1 minute.
2 minutes of protection from evil for everyone else, 1 minute for myself.
45' radius of invisibility purge on myself for 9 minutes.
Yushua will pause while casting these spells and give everyone else (Amira) a chance to prepare as well.

![]() |

Amira has nothing of use, since Protection From Chaos is likely useless in a Zon Kuthon-aligned temple, though Death Ward might help. Death Ward on self, 10 minutes.

![]() |

Once Amira has cast her spell and Yushua is finished with his own, he'll use the key to open the door.
I was casting for three rounds so other people could have potentially gotten some buffs up too. Not sure if Samhain or anyone else wants to buff at all.

![]() |

Seeing the others buffing, Samhain will go ahead and cast abundant ammunition on his efficient quiver, gravity bow on his bow, and aspect of the falcon on himself.
7 min duration each.
Samhain is glad to take up the rear to protect the party from a flank. However, if anyone wants to be behind him, he won't complain.

Opening the door, you see another door twenty feet down a five corridor.
Amira, Yushua, and Samhain all notices the makings of a trap in the hallway.

Amira uses Detect Magic ascertain if it is magic or not. If it is magic, she will state she has a few Dispel Magics prepared.

Yushua will take point.
"I was never trained in disabling such things."
I think dispel magic can only dispel traps for a certain number of rounds. At least I remember that Cyphermages have an ability to do it for a longer period of time so I'm pretty sure without that ability it's only temporary.

![]() |

Going to try this:
Yushua moves back and gets a running start before leaping over the pressure plate.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

![]() |

Amira uses her Overland Flight to avoid the trap, and offers ferry via Tenser's Floating Disk.

![]() |

"No need for thanks; ferry charges will be automatically applied to the Ten's tab for this mission."

![]() |

"Greetings, I am Amira El-Amin, Clergy of Abadar. We search for the Lyrics of Extinction for isolation purposes. Perhaps you have seen them?"
Diplo? (Domain power): 1d20 + 22 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 22 + 5 = 44
"I do not wish to see any more combat, if necessary."

GM Tektite |

Amira absolutely dazzles the elves with her diplomatic way of speaking. They shift uncomfortably and nod toward the door they are guarding. Tyruwat is within and has the thing you speak of. We fear for our lives and the lives of our brethren. Your words fill us with hope that you end this madness. Without another word, the three elves begin heading out the door, their footsteps gaining speed as the get further away.
You have a door before you. It's unlocked and not trapped.

![]() |

"We have already rescued one of your friends from servitude and set him free when he asked for redemption. We are here to set the same offer before you."
Auto-aid Diplomacy.
Also, just for s&%%s and giggles, Yushua says a prayer to Sarenrae and places his hand on Amira's shoulder. +4 to her Diplomacy from Touch of Good.

Davion will burn a lay on hands to put up his power of faith aura.
+1 to AC, +1 attack, +1 damage, +1 vs fear to all within his 30' aura

![]() |

Unless any of my previous buffs have run out after jumping the pit and talking to the elves, I'm ready. I'll reapply them if they have.

No more buffs here

The party opens the door and moves into a the inner cathedral. It is a large chamber lit by brightly glowing torches lining the walls. A long rug leads up to a treasure chest sitting against the back wall. Above the chest stands a defaced statue of a tall Mwangi man carrying a staff. Eight altars form a circle at the back of the room.
As you move in, you all feel an unholy presence, making it feel a little harder to breathe. The room is under Bane and Unhallow effects.
Standing in the rear of the cathedral is a sickly looking man dressed in chains and painful looking piercings standing at the far side of the room, holding his arms up to the ceiling. A pendant shaped like a skull wrapped in chains hangs around his neck.
The man notices your presence and quickly begins casting a spell.
Initiative:
Tyruwat
Yushua
Samhain
Sebastian
Davion
Amira
Party up!

Yushua moves as far as he can into the room. double move. hoping one of our archers can disrupt his casting.

![]() |

The whole room is under effects of those spells? So no saves against them?
Samhain flies down the aisle at ground level, sees the enemy casting a spell and looses an arrow at him.
Deadly Aim + Favored Enemy - Bane + Aspect
Attack: 1d20 + 14 + 6 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 14 + 6 - 1 + 1 = 38
Thistle arrow: 2d6 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 9 + 6 = 24

He throws a quip to follow, "Try to focus with an arrow in you." He then signals Buho to charge at him.
Buho jets forward like a bat owl out of hell.

EDIT: Forgot this character has +6 Favored Enemy against humans, not +4 like my other ranger. Changed all rolls for arrow and owl charge.

Unhallow has no Saving Throw (though Bane does and if it's tied to the Unhallow, we would get a save.) The Effects here are "It's harder for me to channel offensively, Summoning Good things requires breaking the circle with SR, and attack people have a -1 to hit and on saves vs fear.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Amira looks forward, seeing that the Paladins has no charge lane. If they wait for her init, she will step up to be adjacent to the two and Dimension Door them to each be within 5'step or adjacent distance to the bad. If it works like Tetris, I should be able to put Sebastian behind him and Davion to his side. If that's not how it works, I'm sure something does to get them full, smiting attacks (even if it means I'm being threatened by a weak old man. That'd be a funny fight.) "By the right of Abadar, I hereby charge you with possession of a known dangerous magical material. Prepare to be apprehended."
EDIT: Oh, is he perchance casting with a holy/unholy symbol or no?

GM Tektite |

Being an early season scenario, the text does not specify whether the Bane is tied to the Unhallow, nor a DC for a save. Let's call it DC 16, based on his other spells.
Edit: It also doesn't specify if Tyruwat cast the spells or it's an effect of the Lyrics, or divine doing..
I don't see why you can't DDoor to the desired locations, your good.
A pendant shaped like a skull wrapped in chains hangs around his neck. I would say that's the unholy symbol.
Amira talks to the sickly man!
Davion! Getting DDoor-ed?
