So Astrogath and Boarding party it is. It makes a lot more sense I thin even if piloting can be nifty.
How is boarding going to work? I kind of assumed due to the size of this ship we would have a smaller boarding craft. Is that something we have to work up to? Or is this ship not large enough to make boarding efforts dangerous?

Most piracy victims surrender peacefully, often simply setting the demanded tribute out in space for the pirates to pick up as the merchants flee the scene. Others simply open their airlocks under the guns of the pirate.
The rare boarding action is generally a bloody affair. Some of the time we'll resolve it abstractly, as on p. 163 of the Core Rulebook and sometimes we'll play it out.
That page also provides your answer: There is little in space combat more exciting and terrifying than a boarding action. Marines launch themselves from a closely manoeuvring ship or dedicated small craft, and hurl themselves at an enemy vessel in an attempt to gain entry and pacify the crew.

SHIP'S OPERATING COSTS
Maintenance: Cr28630/month
Drive Chief: Cr4000/month
Doctor: Cr4000/month
Gunner: Cr2000/month
Marines:Cr2000/month (x3)
Total Cost (not counting division of spoils): Cr42,630

DIVISION OF THE SPOILS
According to ancient and inviolate tradition, the crew of a pirate ship have a share in any proceeds from their larceny. These shares are divided when the pirate ship is in a safe harbor and any captured cargo has been sold.
The loot is usually divided as follows:
• First, King Oleb of Drinax demands 10% of the proceeds from any piracy. If the Travellers refuse him his royal tithe, they lose the benefits of the letter of marque and make an enemy of Drinax.
• Second, work out the total number of shares. Every ordinary crewman has one share; the Travellers have two shares each, and the captain has five shares.
• Finally, divide the total value of the spoils by the total number of shares to work out the value of each share.

I presume that King Oleb wants his 10% off the top - if we sieze 100,000 CR of loot, he wants 10,000 CR.
Of the 90,000 CR remaining, do we pay shares first or pay shi pespnses first?
There’s not much historical precedent since professional navies paid ship expenses and pirates didn’t record their procedures for posterity. But I think paying ship expenses first will be trivial compared to what you can make with a good haul.
Does the Maintennce cost (Cr28630/month) include the cost of air/food/water supplies, or is that a separate expense?
It includes all that stuff (and ship’s ammo) at a BASIC level. Those who aspire to an intentionally lavish display will need to pay more.

Folks - my mother has been in the ICU for two weeks. After work, I spend my evenings there. When I have a spare hour...like now... I sleep.
I'm not giving up on the game. Those of you that know me personally know how much I hate that idea. But please understand that I will not be around that much for the foreseeable future.

Hey everyone,
Not sure if any of you are interested in Kickstarters, but my brother's gaming company just launched a Kickstarter today for a fun new gaming book that's Pathfinder 1st edition compatible! He's been published in some Pathfinder books before and written some PFS modules, so you might already be familiar with some of his work. I had the chance to do a lot of freelance work for the new book, which is really exciting. It's gonna be great! If any of you are interested you can head on over to the Kickstarter and help make this project a success!
Realms of Atrothia: Primary Expansion
And for those of you who are in more than one campaign with me: You'll see this message plenty! Apologies for spamming you. Haha.

Ahh ... was the snow above your waist?
Tomorrow and Wednesday, I am at a Working on Ice / Ice Rescue course. We will be donning drysuits and going out to one of the local rivers that flows too quickly to freeze (we hope). Since I am probably the biggest person in the course, I get to be the "icebreaker". Meaning, if I can't break through the ice, then no one else can either. In that case, we step off the edge of the ice sheet instead.
Forecast is for a high of -9C with wind chill around -20C. Wednesday has more snow in the forecast, so not as cold.

Getting near frozen water isn't my idea of fun. We finally got rid of our 10" of snow in Seattle. Just a few piles left here and there. It's still way cold for this time of year.
Good news the mosquitoes should be frozen and less horrible this summer.

I have heard of this thing called snow. Its usually brought in by a truck for kids to play in until it melts a few hours later. So no. I do think we have some blooming flowers though. There has been quite a bit of rain.
I think being an icebreaker actually sounds like people just don't like you and have a bet going on if you will make it through.

The only open water was in the rapids and we could not find any other ice thin enough to break through. The instructor cut a hole with a chainsaw for us to jump into the water. With the dry suit, PFD and enough clothing under the dry suit, it was pretty comfortable.
We're currently sitting at just over a meter of snow on the ground, so only 10 cm until the record is broken.
I will let Ray comment on mosquitoes ... we have nothing on Winnipeg.

Sorry for the slow posting. I've had the week from heck. Everything is fine. I've just been busy at work and busy with personal life. Usually one is busy and the other isn't so bad, and I can keep up. Not this week.
After Sunday it should get better.
