A thouroughly exhausted Janira collapses to the ground on the sandy shore of the river. Her breathing comes in large gasps, and she finally allows herself to break her concentration from the frantic fight and flight she had been maintaining.

"Oh thank you thank you thank you pathfinders! I don't know that I could have held out much longer. Know that you have a close friend and ally in one Janira Gavix anytime you should be visiting the lodge. That minotaur was persistent! I can't believe I made it..." she says, suddenly staring off into the the distance, not particularly focused on anything.

She snaps out of her momentary reverie. "Well, tell me, what did you find? What was it like? Let me see your notes, I want to see how you did!"

Cleary the traumatic experience is one she would like to put behind her, and focusing on the task at hand, or at least the results of the task her initiates just completed is preferable to dwelling on her near death experience, at least for now.

For a moment, Nella is silent, staring in awestruck silence at the felled minotaur. Then she gives an almighty whoop of laughter. "YES! We did it, we really did it! That was a minotaur and we brought him down! And we saved Janira!" With an exuberance that may or may not be borne from the adrenaline rush of combat, she pulls the rest of the group into a hug once they reconvene next to the river.

"Woo...okay then," she pants once she's had her fill of hugging on her teammates, clearly beginning to calm down. "You're welcome Janira; I'm glad we made it in time."

"*Screeeeeeeeee*!!!!" screeches Nbu T'ka exultantly. Caught up in the moment, he rushes over and gives Nella a big, feathery hug.

"*Squawk* well done everyone," says Nbu T'ka, with feathers fluffing out, "So that minotaur reminds me of a joke that I heard back in Sandpoint: Why do cows not have any money?"

Nbu T'ka waits but a fraction of a second before blurting out, "Because farmer's milk them dry."

Bluff: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4

Sense motive, DC 4 (so everyone just open):
Nbu T'ka genuinely believes this might be a reason, though he does think that a more compelling reason might be that cows have animal intelligence and therefore no appreciation of the monetary system.

"I mean, we'd have to assume an awakened cow here, but if the farmer took all the milk then it wouldn't have any to sell. We'd also have to assume that the cow couldn't think of another way to make money."

Luthor stops in his tracks as the large beast finally falls.

We did it?

"We DID it!" he shouts!

Before he knows what's happening the group is gathered up with Janira and Nella is hugging everything that moves!

"Janira i'm very glad that you're doing OK. If you require any healing i'm happy to spare what magic i have."

Once the initial rush has calmed down

"Janira you wouldn't believe the wonders we found in those caves. I promise to show you all the notes and rubbings we took once we're safe back in Absolom. But the quick version goes like this..."

Luthor pauses his tale often as others have details to add and jokes to tell. He briefly tells Janira the main points:
Fishing for cloaks.
Finding the ancient Aroden carvings.
Meeting Uori the deaf gillman.
Absolom in miniature.
The tasks and blessings of Aroden.

I don't want to take over the description of our journey so i've left my bit brief with plenty of space for others to comment

"I'll be glad to get back to civilization. It's been amazing seeing outside the city, but Absolom is my home and i've certainly missed it."

Kajar beams, surrounded by the other initiates, taking in the scene. He whoops, hollers, and hugs the rest of the initiates with equal parts excitement and relief. The adrenaline rush wears off, and Kajar takes a look around.

We killed a minotaur, and saved a Pathfinder. If this is Society work, I hope for more missions to come my way!

"Master Janira, I am glad you are in one piece..."

Kajar suddenly feels fumble-tongued, and twists his hands together, as if trying to find something important or relevant to say.

"Teamwork. I learned about cooperation. I don't know much about human history, gillmen, or Absalom, but I did learn that it's more important to cooperate than it is to worry about my stake in the end goal."

Blushing as only a half-orc can, he nods at Lissa, and cracks his toothy grin.

"Oh, and I learned how a down-on-her-luck magician can still pull fish from the sea when it counts," he says, laughing.

"Master Lissa, tell her how you rescued that cloak from certain doom!"

That was so much fun! Looking forward to this iteration of the "cast party"!

Lissa sighs in relief when Nbu T'ka finally pulps the minotaur. All things told, the excursion was generally successful, and no one was really hurt, aside from the spiders, throughout the trip.

"I'm so glad that that's taken care of. Hopefully, going back to Absolom is less spider-filled then the trip out."

"Hey!" she barks, embarrassed before by the comment and her own ennui earlier. "It's not my fault I never do well when the sun's just woken up!" After a moment to force her embarrassment out of the way, she continues, "And anyway, hooking the cloak and dragging it up wasn't that hard. I still think it was safer then sending someone to climb down there. In any case, I'm with Luthor. A warm bed and a warm meal sound lovely to me."

Her focus is distracted somewhat from the immediate proceedings as Nbu begins waxing theoretical about cattle and their money, or lack thereof. "An awakened cow? I wonder...if you shared a meal with one, are you an accomplice to murder if you order the beef stew?"

Now that this mission is over and everyone is telling what the experienced and learnt, Shuo feels a bit shy. He was not a talkative person, especially after he left Tian-Xia, and since his companions were giving a full report, he decided to let them continue.

When everyone finished their talk, Shuo approaches the group and bows to every one of them.

"It was a great honor to me to have made part of this group. You all are very honorable people and with the blessing of Tsukiyo I thank you."

"Nbu T’ka-san, you showed me nothing but courage and honor and thus deserves no less treatment than a true samurai."

"Lissa-san, keep faith in your skills, for when you were really needed, you saved us all."

"And, finally, Janira-sempai, thank you for guiding us in this mission. Your bravery will always remain in my mind."

The pathfinders chatter excitedly, compare notes, and are generally in great spirits following the defeat of the minotaur. Janira is exhausted, and takes some time to rest before the group packs up and begins the long trek back to Absalom. For a time, Janira is unusually quiet, reflecting on her near death experience.

Eventually, all things begin to return to a more normal feel, well, as normal as one can be after such an amazing first adventure as pathfinder initiates. The group walks through the gates of Absalom and winds their way through the streets, eventually coming to the gates of the society's massive compound.

Once inside, they go to a generic debriefing area where an excitable Kreighton Shaine is waiting for them. The conversation and re-telling of the story begins anew as they share their harrowing tale with the master of scrolls.

"Wonderful Wonderful all of you! Such detailed notes, such excellent sketches and rubbings. Yes yes, these will be amazing to be added to the collective library of the society. And you say the cave still have residuals of Aroden's power? That is fascinating indeed! It is great that you have written down your details. I find it is hard enough to remember what I've had for breakfast the next day, let alone important details about such a discovery! Yes, you did well to take the notes you did, all of you."

"I am so proud of you as well Janira, you were an excellent guide. I commend you on your exemplary service and sacrifice to the pathfinder's mission, distracting that minotaur the way you did. And all of you, for coming to her rescue when she couldn't lose it in the woods after all! This tale is sure to be sung in the halls of the pig's paunch wounded wisp for you incredible success."

Janira's face flushes red with embarrassment at being singled out, but she smiles all the same, proud of her crack team of recruits.

Shaine continues, "Now that you have made such detailed notes, I should say you six are the foremost authorities on this cave in all of the society, in all of Absalom!" He waves his hands with a flourish to match his excited proclamation. He then switches to a more serious, grave tone. "It falls upon you six to name this cave, this wonderful discovery. Choose wisely, for it will be recorded in the annals of the society for all of history."

Shaine's serious look cannot be held for very long, and a smile quickly creeps across his face.

Three days later...

Kajar:
You are approached one day as you pass through the halls by the Master of Swords, Marcos Farrabellus.

"I have heard of your exploits in your confirmation. You are a good student Kajar, and I am pleased by your performance. I knew you would make me look smart when I chose you for this assignment. Here, please take this as your official confirmation as a field agent of the society."

Farrabellus hands the half-orc a beautifully engraved wayfinder. Kajar reads his name in the elegant script across the side.

"That is your badge. It is a symbol of status, and marks you as a pathfinder agent for any who see it on your person. Guard it, and yourself. The society has enemies who would steal it and use it against us. Wear it openly when it serves you, but do not be ashamed to hide it if it serves your purpose, and the goals of the society. Not everyone in the world likes us." With a smile and a pat on the shoulder, the dean continues moving down the hall, leaving Kajar to contemplate his new status.

Shuo:

The group...

With a sudden pang, she realizes that although all of them had passed their confirmation and worked well together as a team, this particular brand of camaraderie was fleeting. Though it was certainly possible that some of them might work together on more assignments in the future, the likelihood of all six of them being chosen to work together again was...well, rather small.

"It...it's been amazing, to work with you all," she smiles. "I hope we get to do it again, sooner rather than later. But if not..." she blinks rapidly. "Stay safe and stay in touch if you can, okay?"

Luthor listens to the other Pathfinders as they give their ideas for naming the cavern as he tries to think of any alternatives.

"I quite like your idea there Lissa. As an important site to the faithful of Aroden I think his name should be used. But i also like honouring an explorer by using their name in one of their finds. Janira led our group well and she is very deserving of such an honour. I would be happy with either of those names"
