No kidding! Between Lissa and a PbP friend of mine who's playing a telekineticist, I've been inspired to make a kineticist of my very own for play in a Skull & Shackles game (should I get the chance to apply for one).

So... i'm thinking of doing a crazy jumping-over-the-stream charge (assuming the minotaur isn't dead already!)

Before i type it does anyone have a problem with adding a horizontal jump to a charge action?

I can't find anything specific that says i can/can't do it, so i'm happy to go with the group decision.

You can't horizontal jump during a charge action (or you could just jump over difficult terrain).

Covered under:

"You must have a clear path toward the opponent, and nothing can hinder your movement (such as difficult terrain or obstacles)"

and

"If any line from your starting space to the ending space passes through a square that blocks movement, slows movement, or contains a creature (even an ally), you can't charge."

I think sometimes the rules are written to cover for people bending some of the rules to avoid using other rules.

This looks like one of those times - silly inflexible charge rules *grumble* ;)

Thanks for that clarification Nbu T'ka - I'm just glad I made the caveat that I would have had to look it up first. For having a character built on charging, you would think I should know this type of thing better.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a feat that you could take that allowed some flexibility around this kind of thing. I have seen quite a few, but most of the ones I have focused on deal with mounted charging (since that character in question is a cavalier)

Anyways - on to happier notes. You have successfully completed all of the primary and enough of the secondary conditions for this scenario to be a complete success! There is one more encounter written in, but is not necessary (and won't change your chronicle) so it is optional.

Based on some things I have learned and advice I have been given over the last few weeks, I am going to recommend you not do the last encounter. As I said, it won't change anything on your chronicle sheet, and there is always the risk of something terrible happening. Of course, this is your game, and I am your humble GM, so I will respect your wishes should the vast majority of you want to do it.

I am going to assume we are wrapping up here, unless you tell me otherwise. The last bit to wrap up in the gameplay thread will just be RP, putting the finishing touches on our story.

As a side note, I have all of your chronicle sheets completed (I did the work ahead of time, assuming I wouldn't need to change anything) but they are all back in Michigan, and I will not be back there until Friday. (Guess I should have scanned them too...) I will leave this thread active, and post a link to where you can download your sheets this weekend when I get home. Once I know everyone has downloaded their sheets I will make the thread inactive so it doesn't show up on your campaigns tab anymore. (it will still be accessable on the bottom, listed as inactive for those of you unfamiliar with the forum's layouts)

Please don't be afraid to ask any questions you might have, particularly if there was something about the story that was unclear, or confusing. I also highly encourage feedback. I can take whatever you can dish out, so PM, post it here, spoiler it, whatever you want. I want to get better as a GM so I am ready to listen to whatever you have, positive and/or negative.

With all of that said, lets wrap up our story, and congrats (most of you) on your first game! Thanks for letting me take you on the ride, I hope you really enjoyed this medium for gaming.

Woohoo! My first ever PFS game completed (more or less)! I'm...so happy...*sniffle*

Regarding this last (and now optional) encounter, I can go either way. I'm happy to try tackling it if people are game but I'm also perfectly happy to call it a day where we're at.

Regarding the game itself, I've had a blast playing with everyone and I'd love to play with any of you again sometime, whether with these characters or perhaps others! Same for the GMing; I personally have no complaints and I'd definitely recommend and/or play in a game run by you or GM Damo anytime :)

I have no qualms about skipping the optional encounter. I suppose one of the advantages of this set-up is that it doesn't matter what you fight and miss.

Finally getting a PFS scenario under my belt... Once I broke my bad luck streak, I had lots of fun, (And to be fair, dealing with the bad luck was a little fun too). Ultimately, my question is "What's next?" I was lucky to catch the PbP Gameday post on the paizo blog which was the lead you here. So I don't know where to go from here for PbP games. I would love advice for a direction to head in.

As for your GMing, you were fine. The only hiccup that I noticed was with the 'puzzle' in the cave chamber, and that was because 3 of us were missing data. Once that was remedied, things went smoothly.

GM Steve, you did a great job! Can't wait to play under you again, mate.

Lissa, I think the missing data was we players' faults (3 of us in and it just happened to be the 3 who were holding back due to replay, I think). We needed to give the rest of you more info.

Also, as I noted in my game - that puzzle (and many to-and-fro roleplaying situations) really suck hard over PbP. Things that can be resolved in 5-10 minutes on the gaming table can chew up a week or more in PbP if a lot of clues and interaction is required.

Depth of roleplaying on PbP? Awesome. Time of response? Expect lag.

If you guys decide to go, I'll join but when the GM says that it is better to avoid it, it IS better! lol

I also had great fun and even entered in a lot other PBPs games...

If you are looking for more games (I think Lissa is), go here for a more general and non-PFS games or here and put your name under the various GM's sheets.

Oh yeah, I'm happy to avoid that last encounter. I'll join in if others want to, though.

I had a lot of fun with this. As my third time doing this scenario i can honestly say this time was the most fun! All the awesome characters getting to interact properly as characters should - it was great meeting them all! :D

As mentioned previously, i've played a fair bit of PFS over the past couple of years, but playing as a PbP is very different.

I think that was part of why i contributed to the puzzle slow down. There was a bit of an assumption on my part that knowledge was shared like you do around a table, but I hadn't specifically mentioned what Luthor knew so it was all still in his head! I'll certainly remember that for next time i play in a PbP.

The scenario is actually written so that if you go one way, you don't need to go the other. It helps with replayability since it is an evergreen scenario.

Thanks everyone for the kind words! I definitely learned a lot to file away in the lessons learned.

The flaxseed lodge (Shuo's second link) is a great place to go to meet more like minded pbp folks, and get yourself into games.

Kajar and I differ on this, but I'm going to vote no on tunnel 2. I promised him he could revisit it later on. He's pouting, but he'll be ok.

For as long as I've been playing games, that was one of the best experiences I've had! Thank-you-so-much GM PapaSteve, Luthor, Shuo, Lissa, Nbu T'ka, and Nella for a truly memorable game.

I've wanted to try out PFS for a long time, but my job (I'm a chef) doesn't jibe schedule-wise with the local Society games. I've also wanted to try a PbP, and this group here - well, this is a road map of How It's Done.

I'm lucky to have a solid table game, and it was too much fun to mix in new folks in my gaming experience.

*sigh* Now I'll need to cruise the PbP forums too, to keep track of y'all! :)

I'm in the same boat, Kajar, though the local PFS games are scheduled on the same day that my group meets. As such, PFS was sorta unattainable. So, catching the mention of this on the Paizo blog was a stroke of luck for me. This was quite entertaining. We'll definitely need to catch other scenario together.

I was checking the thread (too) frequently to see if there was a post to respond to. Heck, I purposefully refrained from posting unless at least 2 other people had posted since my last post. Work was my greatest restraint, though. My phone won't log into the Paizo boards, so I can't post during work hours.

Yes, credit to the Paizo Blog for also bringing me to the webtable, for sure.

I tried to honor the 'post-per-day' and I appreciated how there was no pressure from anyone to put up posts.

I really liked that GM_PS rolled skills in my absence to move things along.

Like you, and others I'm sure, real-life certainly limited my chances to post, and I'm going to say that this group was awesome regarding that aspect. It's always a good move to respect your fellow players' IRL stuff, I think.

GM-PS gave me a great game, so I was thinking about it outside my cyber-time, so thanks again Gm PapaSteve!

Great teamwork makes for awesome games, and this was a lot of fun!

Similar boat here regarding PFS live games; I live too far to drive from the nearest 'area' that I know of with PFS activity and my work schedule is too erratic for me to do a lot of consistent gaming IRL.

I'm definitely glad that I decided to give it a try via PbP! :)

Just one more side note about PbP RP - because of the way you can link to specific posts in a gameplay thread, my main group has taken to using that quite often to refer back to certain posts in other games, as a way to enhance and remind others of particular character development points. It's one reason I advocate, and always try, to "finish the episode" so to speak with my characters. You never know where you might be able to dip back to an innocuous moment in your character's life to highlight a particularly cool roleplaying moment.

On that note, I will click this campaign over to 'inactive' in a few days, to give all of you a chance to finish up any posting you want to do, and make sure you get your chronicles downloaded.

This is likely a case of me being new to how PFS and session reporting works, but when I checked my sessions tab I noticed that there are two listings: one for today, with our game and all the relevant information (Session #1), but also a second one that just has the event stated as 'PbP Gameday 4' with a date of Oct 14th (Session #8); both submitted by our fantastic GM. Is that correct?

Same Session thing as Nella, but IDK what that means.

I think the only other question I have- and maybe it was answered and I missed it-

What does 'lockwood' mean?

Yeah, I hope that I catch you all in other games. I did quite enjoy the speed (especially since I lurk on messageboards far too easily.) Maybe, everyone can get a couple games elsewhere, then get back together for another run?

I'll certainly be keeping an eye on the forums for PbP games. With a little more work maybe some of my more experienced characters could have a trip to the boards too (background and character details only in my head is a problem there).

If i spot any names i recognise from here i'll be sure to say hi and let you all know it's me :)

And i'm already off on a new PbP with a couple of names i already know. One from this group and the other from GM Damo's Confirmation group!

Luthor is planning a trip to Oppara for this coming Sunday at an in-person game, so another character had to be made to take his place. Time to try out my Osirion Menhir Savant Druid - Volar Lorken. He's a character concept i've had for a while but never quite made it to a game (which is something i do quite a lot).

Haha nice! I'm going to be taking a break from Nella for a bit while I run my other 1st level character through this same scenario with a friend (at her request) and some PbP folks that she knows, one of whom is another brand new GM.

I'm sure I'll be seeing all of you guys around, with one character or another :)

Hey Kajar, PM me if your GM is interested in a Google Spreadsheet for all the kingdom building. I did one for my Skype Kingmaker game - it was invaluable for sharing all the info and planning the kingdom out. We did use the Ultimate Campaign rules, but it could easily be reverted back to the Kingmaker AP rules.

I've got another character submitted for a Kingmaker PbP, and I will keep an eye out for you all in Society games, for sure!
