Yeah! I hope you like it! I stayed up far too late working on all of that haha!
In any case I'm working a double so you're gonna have to sit in suspense until much later in the evening. Which is good in a way for meeeee because I'm gonna agonize over my own responses.
Anyway...Have a good Saturday, guys :D

I didn't really get home last night and I won't be able to get back on for another 8 hours or so (when i get home around...3?)
don't go too far without me!

I don't have a lot of experience with that kind of build, but a friend suggested the Net and Trident feat line (Net Adept, Net and Trident, Net Maneuvering, and Net Trickery) and a lot of combat maneuver tricks (Grapple, Dirty Trick, Trip). They also suggested Lore Warden to get Combat Expertise and just be good at maneuvers in general, but that may or may not fit the concept.
| GM Kiora |
Yeah, I pointed him towards the net line (the Mythic Hero's Handbook has mythic versions of them too).
I think what he wants is to be good at combat maneuvers. Also he is frustrated at flying enemies (f2f group has been fighting all the flying guys recently and they dont have very many ways to deal with them... especially once the arcanist runs out of steam :p).
So he wants to throw the net at winged things.

Yeah, I can't imagine that sort of character not being a maneuver-based character, and then Lore Warden is pretty much a must. I'm not familiar with the net and trident stuff at all beyond that.
A straight fighter is a good candidate for VMC to pick up a little something extra though if he's interested in something else. Wizard can pick up some pretty nice abilities at 7, especially via divination. Being able to double-roll your important combat maneuvers is not a bad deal.

Path Dabbling to grab Limitless Range from the Champion. It raises the net's range to 50 feet. Then attach a really long rope to it and reel in enemies like he's fishing for birds. Or just let them fall out of the air because they're entangled.

That's pretty awesome. Passing that along haha.
Trying to get him to use a trident. He's being all meta because he wants to keep his old longsword (which he invested a bunch of $$$ into) >_O
But the concept is to be a fisherman so obviously use a trident duh!

Special materials, first and foremost. A normal net doesn't work very well because basically anything can shred or break or escape artist out of it, sadly. It's great in the short term, though. An Adamantine Net will do a lot for making it a better choice (not that every DM will allow an Adamantine net).
Second, if he's not going to use a special material (or isn't allowed), carrying -many- nets is a good idea. Quick draw ditto. Refolding a net when it fails for whatever reason (or having another in case the one you have is shredded) is a big deal.
It might actually be more worthwhile to look at Kineticist and Entangling Infusion. Water or Earth (and some crossovers, he's level 7 after all!) will offer a lot of interesting choices. Water, especially, for utility, while earth provides ways to deal with demons (seriously, you could totally take earth/earth to be a cold iron shooting net character).
Entangling Infusion is really, really good, too.
Edit: With it being a fisherman thing... water might be the better choice ;)

Hmm, if he's going to be doing a lot of fighting though, he might need to do dual-path. Picking up impossible speed and the pounce would be pretty useful for when he needs to close. Instead he might use the Path Dabbling to pick up Cage Enemy in the Guardian path, which would let him lock down the creatures he's brought down with the net.

If he wants to be good at combat maneuvers and not take Lore Warden, he can take agile maneuvers and mythic agile maneuvers and boost str and dex. Using the stamina with agile maneuvers plus getting bonus from str and dex will pretty much allow him to do whatever he likes to creatures of any size. Of course, all the improved -insert maneuver- will be give another much needed boost!

I don't know if I'm keen on metal nets. That was one of the first things he asked about.
My issue is that I feel like there should be a penalty for the weight. So perhaps I'll allow mithril but not adamantine/iron. Still thinking :P

He's pretty stuck on the fighter, also.
Lore warden doesn't make sense thematically and I'm a hardass about fluff. He's not a pathfinder, just a humble fisherman (with superpowers) :P

Obviously the solution to torn nets is for him to make his net legendary (and possibly trident too) :)
Net and Trident is a pretty huge investment feat-wise if he also wants to do maneuvers. Assuming he's a Human or Half-Elf. As a Half-Orc he'll be behind by one level on everything.
1- TWF, EWP:Net, Net Adept
2- Net and Trident
3- Net Manevuering
4- Combat Expertise
5- Improved Trip (or some other maneuver)
6- Net Trickery
7- Greater Improved Trip
He kind of needs to pick up another maneuver along the way, because I can't see anything that says that a net actually keeps a target from flying.
| GM Kiora |
Nope, he's a half-orc! ;)
I'll probably rule that he can throw a net at a flying creature, and drag it with net maneuvering to the ground. Or homebrew something else up :p
The legendary net thing was my suggestion, also ;)
The idea is basically a riff off the fisherman and his wife - he was just a regular fisherman, then he caught something magical, which changed him! So it would make sense if the net that he caught the thing with became magical also.

Worse, though, nets scale inversely with level. Things will start being immune to entangle, things will grow in strength massively. You'll stop even caring about BAB when it comes to hitting touch AC. (Though, this makes always a chance very worthwhile).
Entangle is a good debuff when it lands, and ruins lives. But nets aren't a great way to apply that with a primary BAB character, I feel. Mine was on a bard, which meant it was in addition to making lives suck.
:( I can't really offer positive feedback for builds and such, though.

I do a lot of houseruling so I'm not super worried about this.
Was mostly just wondering if there was any Paizo stuff that is usable.

I think you've found most of it. :) Especially with Isilme's help. It's actually got a lot of support given the unusual weapon type.

Also, oddly enough, there's a ranger archetype devoted to net and trident, but it's a merfolk thing.
Edit: Off to get some sleep. Elf is sick, needs rest badly. My excitement about seeing the responses to the various dreams will just have to wait until I wake up in the middle of the night :p

Oh well, got to read Desna's answer and respond, so hooray! I had imagined a scene like this for Isilme from the start when I began to visualize her as a PC instead of a supporting character. Getting absolution for her mistakes and loss of faith was something I felt was really important to her. To see it happen so soon is really fantastic! :)
Off to go have a rematch with sleep, hopefully I'll win this time!

Enjoy your sleepies.
That post took a -very- long time for me to write, as I tried to see all the places where Ary had succeeded in her oaths. Not being taken prisoner has been easy, so far. :P
Also... I really, really dig that Desna is telling her she's been freed from the compulsions of being an Azata. :P

He's a god of crafts though. Even the sternest craftsmaster will acknowledge his apprentice's creations and successes, even if he doesn't really praise them, and demands they reach that point on their own.
I think I'd have been a little disappointed if I'd had a Torag-worshipping character that had successfully restored the temple and earned his blessing there, but didn't even get an acknowledgement from Torag for having thwarted the demons' plans to corrupt the wardstones :p

More specifically, he asks the real questions :p
I applied Ary's Skill bonus to K(Planes). It seemed the most fitting, and the thing she'd desire most. All of her friends have a lot of other things, but they're mostly relying on her to know the enemy. As such, she now gets a +18 v. Identifying Demons, 15 v. Other Evil Outsiders, and 13 v. Native Outsiders. :)

Omg you guyssssss
That officially concludes the first book of WotR :D Yay!
Normally the AP is all high octane and moves straight into more world saving epicness but we're gonna slow down.
What you do today is basically up to you. I have a couple of planned scenes that will happen... but mostly it should be a player-driven kinda day :3
If you have nothing to do, you can simply describe your character doing whatever they want to do all day (probably helping rebuild things, or transport the dead - lots of clean-up to do) and I'll get the hint to start moving things forwards.
