Welcome to start of the Rise of the Runelords adventure path! I'm very excited to get started and I hope this will be a long running and rewarding experience.
The first thing I would like from all invited players is to PM me a reason for travelling to Sandpoint (it can be as simple as I'd like to attend the Swallowtail festival). Also, indicate by what means you traveled there (alternatively you may already be situated in Sandpoint). You can either arrive via the Lost Coast road (from the North or from the South) or from overseas on a ship.
Thanks all.

PM sent to you!

Here is the Google Site I've been working up for this campaign:
I've still got a lot of details to work on but its mostly set-up. I'll be entering all of your character info into this site in due time. This is where I'll likely post maps, diagrams and other hand outs. Note: we will still be using the Paizo site to run the pbp content of the campaign.
I've already put the Sandpoint Players Map and the Sandpoint Hinterlands Map in the files section. Please check them out.

Krissina |

That's quite an impressive site you've created there, is it pulled from a template somewhere?
Also do we get permissions to edit at some point, or are you editing it all yourself?

Style and Etiquette
I would like to keep the overall mood of the campaing fairly serious. Humor has its place but I don't want to get bogged down with the ridiculous. I will add additional details and side tangets throughout the adventure but I'll try to stay on tack as overall. I'd certainly prefer for the party memebers to get along and work together but it is acceptable to have minor conflict between characters, as long as both players are comfortable with the direction of the interaction. However, as soon as someone stops having fun then we have a problem.
Character Death
Character death is a real possibility. I will do my best to execute the actions of your enemies in accordance to their intelligence and use effective tactics where appropriate. If a character dies then you will be invited to create a new character at the appropriate level and re-join the campaign.
Posting Frequency
At least once per day. If you will be unable to post, please give me as much advance notice as possible, barring extreme circumstances. If a player is not heard from in 24 hours, their character will be eligible to be run by the GM until the player returns. If a player is not heard from for an extended period of time their character will be removed from the game. Likely they will either be called away from the area for some reason or will suffer an unknown fate, possibly to retun one day. My personal email address is holden11138@gmail.com. Feel free to contact me for any reason.
Posting Conventions
Regular text: In character descriptive content.
Bolded text: "Character dialogue."
Out of Character: Questions or commentary pertienent to the narrative.
Combat
Initiative order will be posted at the start of a conflict so you know who is acting when. After that, everyone can describe what you're doing during the current round. You may have to provide alternatives if rerquired (eg: I'll attack the goblin in front of us unless Halvor kills it first, in that case I'll drop my weapon and ready and shoot my crossbow at the nearest target). If you feel you absolutely need to wait and see how the action unfolds before deciding what to do (either because the timing is critical or because the action is complex), then you may wait until your actual Initiative opportunity comes around before declaring what you are doing (this may slow combat down significantly).
The Rules
I'm pretty laid back when it comes to the rules. I'll try to stay within their bounds but I'm not adverse to breaking them or making something up if I like the sound of it. The two things I'm most concerned with is that the gameplay rules unfold in a logical and reasonable manner.
So feel free to ask any questions. Lets have fun and lets forge some legends!

It is a modified template I got from someone off of these forums. I'm still trying to figure out how to use it. Ideally, you will all have permissions to post and edit the content of your characters.

Thanks for the invite! This should be fun!
One immediate note: I'm on vacation right now, and my opportunities for posting will be limited until Monday the 7th. I only have my smartphone with me.

Re: thread title: That's something an admin will have to fix. Drop an email to webmaster@paizo.com, and they should fix it for you.
Re: My schedule: Due to Hurricane Arthur, we're cutting our vacation short by two days. I should be able to post in the Gameplay thread tomorrow night or Saturday.

Crap, sorry guys, I completely forgot about this game cause it hadn't popped up in my campaign feed lol. Been busy the last few days working on a couple of games I'm running and the holiday and just honestly forgot. Sorry about that, shouldn't happen again.

Kyrian Linwood |

Thank you good sir!

Kyrian Linwood |

Still here, just thinking of an appropriate way of getting myself back into the picture.

Kyrian Linwood |

Sorry guys, combat started when I was at work. I'll be home soon and will post my actions.

Lynnda Windstrike |

I usually ask this in the discussion thread of PbPs I'm in...
Where in the real world is everyone located?
I'm in central New York State, USA, 40 miles south of Syracuse.

Kyrian Linwood |

Paizo's backyard, Renton, Wa

Kyrian Linwood |

For you (and me) 1 and 2, yes.

Kyrian Linwood |

And btw Holden, that's a really cool idea on the site thing. I like that lol.

GM Holden |

Thanks for the compliments, the website is still a work in progress. If you look in the "Supporting Cast" section you will see a growing list of NPC characters (I'm having difficulty displaying pics for each NPC though).
No prob Krissina. Since the Goblins had been felled and you were acting last anyway, I thought it best to move the action forward.

Kyrian Linwood |

That's what I figured as well, that Holden was rolling for us, hence why I haven't rolled.

![]() |

That was the impression I got, as well. I am fine either way; Our esteemed GM has been doing a great job making the battle feel more organic and cohesive than I usually see in PbF by doing all the rolls, but I would be fine with doing them myself if it gets to be too much work.

Kyrian Linwood |

Probably the best 'free for all' style of combat I've ever seen. Very much loving the fact that I'm not being skipped and then told that this is what I did, when I never even said that I was doing that because the secret squirrel club decided to advance combat 2 rounds lol.

Halvor Tanner |

I'm very satisfied with the flow of the game in and out of combat. I personally like not rolling the dice and therefore putting a more realistic approach on things. Even though Halvor the Ox has yet to actually encounter an enemy. LOL

GM Holden |

Yeah, I was going to handle all the rolls. I'm trying to keep the game mechanics out of the narrative as much as possible and be much more descriptive. I've got a nice app on my phone which stores all the party information, handles all the stats, keeps track of HP and can make any kind of roll required so managing everything is a snap.

Kyrian Linwood |

Sorry about that guys. I honestly thought I had posted. I work all day and am out of the house for almost 12 hours a day lol. And with the crazy heat wave Seattle has been having, working in an auto shop just doesn't do me any wonders lol.

Kyrian Linwood |

Don't worry, it's honestly not that hard to manage the maps.

Lynnda Windstrike |

Enjoy!
I'm also going out of town for the weekend in a few hours, and I'm only taking my smartphone. I probably will only be posting once or twice until Sunday night sometime.

Kyrian Linwood |

Won't be posting the next few days. Apartment complex had a fire that took out three buildings today and we're without cable.

Kyrian Linwood |

So cable is back lol. Yea, turned out that we lost 4 buildings, 80 people were affected (being helped by the Red Cross as well), and no serious bodily injuries to both human and animal residents. On top of that, due to the wind, it also started several smaller brush fires as well. One of those, had it not been contained, could've taken down our building as well, considering we're literally across the street from the buildings that were destroyed.
