Everything being set up, Isaac unleashes his full potential as his turret attacks, he fires and the drone attacks Boone.

"No, not here in these lands, and not on the scale he spoke of."

Cretien wasn't there to see what it looked like and how it worked. Remember your mission is to not break cover so you can spy on the big meeting in Vendricce to find out who the big wigs of the conspiracy are.

ACF+GM:

Could I cast Detect Thought at any point, or would it be too risky?

Falko studies Bree to try and determine the extent she's involved in all this. The fact that he did not see her showing her ring makes him wonder about her role in all of this.

Sense Motive with Heroism: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 2 = 20

When all goes wild, Falko bites his lip. He can't help but wonder what would happen if Witch Oil were put in that lamp...

Boone goes down unconscious. The young lady runs over to you saying, "What happened to me?"
Combat Over So what do you want to do with him?
ACF It would look very suspicious for you to cast a spell in the lighthouse since it does have a vocal component.

Falko

Spoiler:
You get opinion that all of the stuff being spoken about is completely new to her and over her head. She seems somewhat confused about the magic talk.

GM:
Isaac looks at the girl and says calmly, "He was going to kill you. He knocked you unconcious and when I saw what he was going to do I stepped in. I couldn't let him kill you. It had something to do with that gun." Isaac then points to the gun. "Are you hurt at all? I can cure your wounds. Wait with me a few minuets while I search him to see what he has on him. There may be a healing potion or two here as well." Isaac then searches the body and looks for traps on any of his gear or items.

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Let us know when we're back to the train.

GM:
Did Bree have the same ring as the others?

Shot Putter Funkmeister

Falko

Spoiler:
You recognize that Jierre, Ottavia and the guy they are meeting with all have silver rings, Bree is wearing a ring but it is gold.

Isaac

Spoiler:
On Boone's unconscious body you find the crimson pistol soaking in the blood of Boone as he lays there dying. The pistol glows and looks though it is beating or breathing as it pulsates in the fluid of its master. You also find a note crumpled in his pocket which reads Leave after me, wait at the bridge until principal passes, make way to bar, Efferfescent Cup. Wait, have round, leave first... meander on road to Night Market, stay, once principals pass, monitor, afterwards you are free... meet on train tomorrow.

The woman says, "Thank you! That weapon is like drinking its blood. What should we do? I will be fine and I will just have a headache, you mustn't be from around here. Potions have horrible side effects here in the Malice Lands."

Boone dies.

Watching from the shadows, Meera isn't particularly suprised when the nearby lanterns' flames turn to water, plunging the city into darkness.

She's used to weird magical happenings in this city , surrounded as it was by the Malice Lands.

Shifting subltly, she takes a quick look around then resumes her vigil on the Dwarf's balcony...

Male Half Giant Hilary Bray Machinesmith 6 | AC 19 T 12 FF 17 | HP 45/45 | F +8 R +7 W +4 | Init +1 | Perc +10

GM:
Isaac grunts and answers the girl "I guess that's obvious then. Any idea what to do with him since i'm not local. That gun is dangerous, I'll need to get rid of it. I'm not going to touch it though."

Was there anything else on him. Briefcase or magical gear? Rings?

AFC+GM:
Once Falko is back with Angus and Cretien, he shares what he's witnessed and adds: "I just can't tell if Bree is part of this. She has a different ring than the other three... What do you think? The three were Obscurati? Bree is too? Recruited? Or boss?!"

Stephan DeWir (Black Market Arms Dealer) Hp 53/53 AC 25 (+7 Perc; +1 Init; Fort +2, Ref +3, Will +4)

ACF+DM:
Were you able to make out the composition of the rings ?

Shot Putter Funkmeister

Isaac

Spoiler:
He isn't carrying a briefcase but there is a key to his hotel room. It isn't surprising that he doesn't have any magical item he is a Tiefling from Danor and its dead magic zone. He has an assortment of rings but none have any inscription.

The woman says, "I don't know kick it in the storm drain. It would probably be best if we just leave and a constable will find him eventually unless you want to throw him into the ocean."

Around midnight everyone makes their way back to the hotel and you meet up in Cretien's room.

ACF+GM:
"The Jierres and the new guy had silver rings. Bree has something like a gold ring."

Male Half Giant Hilary Bray Machinesmith 6 | AC 19 T 12 FF 17 | HP 45/45 | F +8 R +7 W +4 | Init +1 | Perc +10

Isaac takes the key and the note, from the body and scoops up the gun and puts it in a bag and makes sure not to touch it.

When the group it back together and they are sure it is safe to speak, he speaks up. "I've got some bad news. Boone will not be continuing on this journey. He attacked one of the ladies of negotiable affections and was going to kill her. I couldn't let that happen so I stepped in and he is now dead. He had this gun he was using that turned crimson and glowed and seemed to soak up his blood as well as his room key and this note. He was working for someone."

The Note: Leave after me, wait at the bridge until principal passes, make way to bar, Efferfescent Cup. Wait, have round, leave first... meander on road to Night Market, stay, once principals pass, monitor, afterwards you are free... meet on train tomorrow.

acf:
"the gold ring could merely be a ward against teleportation."

Once they are back together, Falko/Gauthier listens to Isaac with great intent, and worry.

"Ok, let's say you did the right thing... You took only the note? May I see it?" he extends his hand and picks the paper from the edges, careful to barely hold it, sets it on the table and examines it carefully.

it could also mean someone of higher station or mark a specialist skill. Anyway that she was let in means that she is part of the group.

What did you do with the corpse ? he ask

Shot Putter Funkmeister

Just as a refresher, when you found Bergeron's corpse he was wearing a gold ring like Bree.

ACF+GM:
Falko recalls Bergeron's golden ring and nods at Angus.

"And the gun!" Falko adds.

Male Half Giant Hilary Bray Machinesmith 6 | AC 19 T 12 FF 17 | HP 45/45 | F +8 R +7 W +4 | Init +1 | Perc +10

"I'd be careful touching the gun. I haven't had a chance to examine it properly. As to the body, I left it for the guard. I escorted the woman out of there and left it. I didn't want to be caught with the body.", Isaac responds to Falko.

Sabine deVentigny Invesigator (Empiricist) 6 HP: 11/37 AC: 19 FF:16 T: 14 F:+3 R:+8 W:+5 Init:+3 Perc: +13 Inspiration: 1/7 +1d6

Seeing no activity from the dwarf's room, Meera returns to the inn and checks with the guard she'd asked to watch her quarry's door. Getting a report of nothing seen, she shrugs and returns to the group's room.

She looks up as the other return and relate their exeriences, "It would seem that your night's were a bit more interesting than mine. The dwarf gambled and drank, then returned here , drank some more , then retired."

She looks with interest at the strange pistol,"If I may?" then bends over it , examining it minutely with out touching it directly.

Knowledge(Arcana): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Falko wants to tell the others about what they've found, but there were more pressing matters "Ok, so we have here evidence linking us to a murder. That's not good. Perhaps we should be rid of this pistol?"

Shot Putter Funkmeister

Meera

Spoiler:
You can tell that it is not a magical device in the strictest sense, however, you think it may be more planar or say religious

Shot Putter Funkmeister

Falko

Spoiler:
You can tell it has some mild planar traces of the plane of Nem, that of the dead and chaos.

"The note is tainted. I mean, at least one of the person who handled it is connected to Nem. Yes, the plane of the dead..." he lets the words hang in the air, while he turns his attention to the gun, to see if it has the same aura.

Move on to check the gun with Detect Planar Energy.

Shot Putter Funkmeister

Nem was from the gun not the note. sorry for the confusion

GM:
Is Nem on both? If not, what can Falko conclude? Let me know if you need a roll for this.

Shot Putter Funkmeister

Give me a roll of planes

Know Planes: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Using Lore Master for the day for a 20 if possible. Result is 28.

planes: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15 to assist

Shot Putter Funkmeister

Falko and Cretien

Spoiler:
You are able to discern that the pistol is cursed with a spirit from the plane of Nem which gives the user a compulsion to kill everyday. The weapon must bathe in blood every 24 hours or the users suffers mental seizures that would culminate in suicide.

"The pistol is... tainted. It requires murder. Best we rid this world of it..." Falko mentions, his eyes locked on the pistol, studying its visible and invisible features.

Shot Putter Funkmeister

Ok, what would you like to do, toss it in the ocean, storm drain or something else? I would like to kick it forward.

Sabine deVentigny Invesigator (Empiricist) 6 HP: 11/37 AC: 19 FF:16 T: 14 F:+3 R:+8 W:+5 Init:+3 Perc: +13 Inspiration: 1/7 +1d6

"Fascinating, I could tell it was no magical effect. Requires murder...We should destroy it, else it fall into some other's hands."

Falko, unless someone objects, will quickly get rid of the piece. He looks for something close, but where the cursed object won't likely be found. A pond or a river, or an ocean would be best.

Shot Putter Funkmeister

Falko walks to the wharf and walks out to the end of a pier and throws it into the brackish black water.

Falko then returns to inn, he notices no one really cares about the lights going out, it seems the Malice Lands are indeed unpredictable.

You all make your way to breakfast at the Inn early and then you board the train. The next morning the train leaves Orithea at 7:30 am. Up until the last minute you see Bree on the platform, eyeballing the street and looking at her pocket watch. The complement of first-class suites stays the same, and no one of consequence boards in second class. As soon as the train’s out of Orithea, Malia invites interested parties back up onto the roof of the lounge car for another round of shooting at helpless malice beasts. The same group as before shoots—Bree, Cardiff, Damata and Tarro Griento (Cardiff again attaches his briefcase strap to his ankle instead of his wrist)—plus six of the train’s guards. Of course excluding Boone. Also Jierre, Ottavia and also Elanor and her ward do not partake. The terrain changes rapidly, and creatures obediently show up and die.

Who wants to participate in the shooting and if not, who would you prefer to talk to?

Stephan DeWir (Black Market Arms Dealer) Hp 53/53 AC 25 (+7 Perc; +1 Init; Fort +2, Ref +3, Will +4)

angus will rather stay inside and keep an eye on Eleanor and her ward

Flako:
Now that we have a better understanding of who is who i would like to plan for a rescue of the "ward" for when we pull in a station with a pre arranged teleportation circle.

GM, do you mind if we spend a bit more time on last night's events? There's a lot to digest!

The night before...

Falko/Gauthier paces back and forth: "Ok, obviously, there's more to Boone. We still have the note and the key to his room... Perhaps we should have a look before anyone else does?"

Boone's note:
Leave after me, wait at the bridge until principal passes, make way to bar, Efferfescent Cup. Wait, have round, leave first... meander on road to Night Market, stay, once principals pass, monitor, afterwards you are free... meet on train tomorrow.

"Also, Cretien, Angus and I didn't get a chance to discuss our own results. Our paths crossed yesterday night as our quarries all made for the same secret rendez-vous with a wealthy architect named Hanse Randall. Jierre, his wife and Randall all showed their rings to one another, while Bree watched. They had silver rings, Bree had a golden one. Keep in mind that Bergeron had a golden ring before you draw conclusions. Jierre was showing some kind of invention, a magic lamp that uses fuel based on planes. I shudder at the thought of the lamp being used with witch oil... In any case, it is highly likely that Jierre, his wife, and possibly Bree are all members of the secret cabal we're tasked to follow!"

"That leaves us with two important things: finding more about this architect, and having a discreet look at Boone's room. Anyone willing to go with me? We'll get rid of the key after."

Angus:
"Now that we have a better understanding, and that there are three of them to deal with, I'm more reluctant to risk the mission than ever... Do you have a plan in mind? It needs to be as safe as possible..." replies Falko.

Falko:
Plan is rather simple: Ambush the pair during the train stop where we have a teleport standing by. Knock the woman out for the night, so that she miss the train in the morning. We drop the prisoner at the rdv for teleportation and then continue on with our journey
