Cretien looks in wonder, having never seen this sort of phenomenon before.

Round 5
Cretien Dufrene |
"No, not here in these lands, and not on the scale he spoke of."
Falko Escheus |
Could I cast Detect Thought at any point, or would it be too risky?
Falko studies Bree to try and determine the extent she's involved in all this. The fact that he did not see her showing her ring makes him wonder about her role in all of this.
Sense Motive with Heroism: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 2 = 20
When all goes wild, Falko bites his lip. He can't help but wonder what would happen if Witch Oil were put in that lamp...
*When back with Cretien and Angus, he relates what he saw.

ACF It would look very suspicious for you to cast a spell in the lighthouse since it does have a vocal component.

The woman says, "Thank you! That weapon is like drinking its blood. What should we do? I will be fine and I will just have a headache, you mustn't be from around here. Potions have horrible side effects here in the Malice Lands."
Boone dies.
Meera Chedwik |
Watching from the shadows, Meera isn't particularly suprised when the nearby lanterns' flames turn to water, plunging the city into darkness.
She's used to weird magical happenings in this city , surrounded as it was by the Malice Lands.
Shifting subltly, she takes a quick look around then resumes her vigil on the Dwarf's balcony...
Isaac Kgmetrepersecondsquared |
Was there anything else on him. Briefcase or magical gear? Rings?

The woman says, "I don't know kick it in the storm drain. It would probably be best if we just leave and a constable will find him eventually unless you want to throw him into the ocean."
Around midnight everyone makes their way back to the hotel and you meet up in Cretien's room.
Isaac Kgmetrepersecondsquared |
Isaac takes the key and the note, from the body and scoops up the gun and puts it in a bag and makes sure not to touch it.
When the group it back together and they are sure it is safe to speak, he speaks up. "I've got some bad news. Boone will not be continuing on this journey. He attacked one of the ladies of negotiable affections and was going to kill her. I couldn't let that happen so I stepped in and he is now dead. He had this gun he was using that turned crimson and glowed and seemed to soak up his blood as well as his room key and this note. He was working for someone."
The Note: Leave after me, wait at the bridge until principal passes, make way to bar, Efferfescent Cup. Wait, have round, leave first... meander on road to Night Market, stay, once principals pass, monitor, afterwards you are free... meet on train tomorrow.
Cretien Dufrene |
Falko Escheus |
Once they are back together, Falko/Gauthier listens to Isaac with great intent, and worry.
"Ok, let's say you did the right thing... You took only the note? May I see it?" he extends his hand and picks the paper from the edges, careful to barely hold it, sets it on the table and examines it carefully.

"I'd be careful touching the gun. I haven't had a chance to examine it properly. As to the body, I left it for the guard. I escorted the woman out of there and left it. I didn't want to be caught with the body.", Isaac responds to Falko.
Meera Chedwik |
Seeing no activity from the dwarf's room, Meera returns to the inn and checks with the guard she'd asked to watch her quarry's door. Getting a report of nothing seen, she shrugs and returns to the group's room.
She looks up as the other return and relate their exeriences, "It would seem that your night's were a bit more interesting than mine. The dwarf gambled and drank, then returned here , drank some more , then retired."
She looks with interest at the strange pistol,"If I may?" then bends over it , examining it minutely with out touching it directly.

Falko walks to the wharf and walks out to the end of a pier and throws it into the brackish black water.
Falko then returns to inn, he notices no one really cares about the lights going out, it seems the Malice Lands are indeed unpredictable.
You all make your way to breakfast at the Inn early and then you board the train. The next morning the train leaves Orithea at 7:30 am. Up until the last minute you see Bree on the platform, eyeballing the street and looking at her pocket watch. The complement of first-class suites stays the same, and no one of consequence boards in second class. As soon as the train’s out of Orithea, Malia invites interested parties back up onto the roof of the lounge car for another round of shooting at helpless malice beasts. The same group as before shoots—Bree, Cardiff, Damata and Tarro Griento (Cardiff again attaches his briefcase strap to his ankle instead of his wrist)—plus six of the train’s guards. Of course excluding Boone. Also Jierre, Ottavia and also Elanor and her ward do not partake. The terrain changes rapidly, and creatures obediently show up and die.
Who wants to participate in the shooting and if not, who would you prefer to talk to?
Angus McCormick |
angus will rather stay inside and keep an eye on Eleanor and her ward
Falko Escheus |
GM, do you mind if we spend a bit more time on last night's events? There's a lot to digest!
The night before...
Falko/Gauthier paces back and forth: "Ok, obviously, there's more to Boone. We still have the note and the key to his room... Perhaps we should have a look before anyone else does?"
"Also, Cretien, Angus and I didn't get a chance to discuss our own results. Our paths crossed yesterday night as our quarries all made for the same secret rendez-vous with a wealthy architect named Hanse Randall. Jierre, his wife and Randall all showed their rings to one another, while Bree watched. They had silver rings, Bree had a golden one. Keep in mind that Bergeron had a golden ring before you draw conclusions. Jierre was showing some kind of invention, a magic lamp that uses fuel based on planes. I shudder at the thought of the lamp being used with witch oil... In any case, it is highly likely that Jierre, his wife, and possibly Bree are all members of the secret cabal we're tasked to follow!"
"That leaves us with two important things: finding more about this architect, and having a discreet look at Boone's room. Anyone willing to go with me? We'll get rid of the key after."
Cretien Dufrene |
i'll do what i can up to and including DERAILING THE TRAIN, KILLING THEM ALL FOR THE GREATER GOOD

"That note is quite vague on specifics, sounds like he was to observe and nothing else...a look into his room is a sound investigative task, I will assist you. " Meera says handing the note back to Falko. , "This business with the lamp, disturbing. These folks seem to like burdening themselves with powers from beyond...a dangerous hobby to be sure. Come let's see what secrets Boone's room reveals..."
