Myantha also moves ahead to the drapes after storing her newfound ammunition. She responds to Suheyla's look of irritation with one of smugness, having dispatched two of the skeletons herself. Once she arrives at the curtains, the wizard will look them over for any signs of traps and will also listen intently for any sounds coming from beyond.

Levin pulls out the wand and touches it to Siorai, healing the outsider's wounds. "Of course, lovely," he says to Myantha as she swipes up the arrows. "Who better?"
In the next room, he looks around at what clearly hasn't seen living activity in quite some time.

The party heals up and regroups before moving through to the room at the end of the hall. Between the eidelon tearing the curtains down, and the various party members searching the walls, a concealed door is revealed in the East wall, north of the entrance the party used.

Myantha moves to investigate the secret door to the east.
Perception: 1d2 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Yep, that's a door alright. Or is it really?
Looking over her shoulder, she says with are sharp tone in her voice "Are you sure there's a door here? Because, if so, where is it!?"
Kiri Frostbrand
|
"As clearly as we stand here, the door is right there!" Kiri says, as if Myantha has lost her mind.
To drive home the point, the magus attempts to open it.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Myantha is confused about the physical properties of a door, while Kiri does not find anything other than the fact that yes, it is indeed.. a door.
Levin Hessel

"Well spotted! Let's see if there's anything to see in here!" Carefully inspecting the door, Levin does his best to make sure it's safe to open.
Perception (trapfinding, take 20): 20 + 5 = 25
| GM DevilDoc |
Levin also confirms that the door is, in fact, a door.
In addition, Levin manages to just barely catch the hint of a wire attached to the doorframe. He identifies the trap as possibly being an arrow trap, rigged to fire at anyone opening the door.
Levin Hessel
|
"It's all cl-- hello, what's this?" Levin was just about to open the door when he sees a wire strung across, no doubt rigged to something nasty. "Hm, aren't you a tricky one! Let's see what I can do... The rest of you should stand back." Pulling out his tools again, he tries removing the trip.

You can retcon the healing if you need it.
Entering the room, you find a plain stone room, its original purpose long lost to the ravages of time. It is easy to discern, however, the many footprints through the heavy layer of dust. The party files through a narrow corridor, which opens into a large room. Unfortunately, this room is inhabited with another skeleton.. and something else. A strong chemical smell roils over the party as the creatures turn toward the party and begin to shamble forward.

Suheyla: You recognize Thing 2 as a zombie, and Thing 1 as a skeleton. However, they seem off to you.. stronger, or more resistant to weapons. The alchemical smell floating on the air may have something to do with this.
Suheyla rushes into the room, and tries to tangle to zombie, but it deftly pushes the net away. Does not meet FF AC.
Siorai moves into a corner, and the skeleton takes a swipe at it, just missing. Likewise Siorai, off balance from dodging the skeletal claws, just barely misses smashing the thing.

Out of Combat
The echoes of combat fade slowly in the stone room, and the only thing of interest is another heavy, ancient wooden door behind where the skeleton stood.

Myantha will search the room looking for any kind of clues as to what experiments were going on here, saying [b]"Undead soaked in chemicals? Kiri couldn't disagree with Myantha's comments, and found herself admiring the wizard's directness and intuitiveness.
"Well said," she concurs.
As Abaal opens the door, she prepares to face any additional undead coming forth.
Levin Hessel

"It does seem queer, doesn't it?" he agrees with Myantha. "We should be sure to ask them about it when we go back up.
Levin grins at Kiri. [b]"By the gods, I think we've finally found something our elven beauties can agree on!"
| GM DevilDoc |
Myantha opens the door with a spell, and Abaal leads the way through the portal. As the bare stone corridor turns back and forth, you come upon a circular metal staircase in an alcove to your right. Beyond this you can see a hunch backed, haggard looking man bent over a table, in what is certainly an alchemical laboratory. You also see what appears to be a zombie dressed in formal wear, standing to the right and ignoring the party. The acrid stench of chemicals and reagents fills this chamber, and the walls are marred by strange stains and scorch marks. Several tables are scattered about the room, covered in a bewildering plethora of glassware, alembics, retorts, tubes, simmering cauldrons, and smoking beakers full of brightly colored liquids. Scattered pages of written notes in a crabbed hand lie strewn about the chamber. A large alcove in the northwest corner contains a bookshelf groaning under the weight of heavy, dusty tomes and scrolls. Three large glass vats stand against the eastern wall, filled with bubbling green fluid. Floating within the vats are three grotesque objects—putrescent corpses, tubes and wires embedded in their rotting flesh, their skin discolored with decay and chemical stains.
The man at the bench looks up as you enter, and snarls at you.
"I've no idea who you are, or how you got in here, but get out. Mr. Marrow, See our guests back out. Now."
With these words, the zombie turns to the party, and in almost a gentlemanly gesture, gestures towards the door with a bow.

Myantha stands in the back of the party, quietly casting gravity bow on her weapon.
"So there actually is a mad alchemist behind all this. How cliché. No matter, though. There's only one way this ends, and it doesn't involve us being ushered out."
Levin Hessel
|
Levin puts a hand on his small rapier. "I have to say, I'm impressed. Doing this kind of work right under the noses of a Pharasman priesthood! That takes guts, sir, and to have gotten away with it like you have takes a great deal of skill and caution!
